Doug Batchelor with Marilyn Tooker. The extraordinary true story of Doug Batchelor, son of a millionaire father and show-business mother. Find out how God turned a rebellious teenager living in a cave into a tremendous soul-winner for Jesus Christ.
A true story of a man who finds God after discovering a bible in a cave. By the end of the book you’ll discover a powerful message of why listening to God is nothing but miraculous.
Doug Batchelor shares his testimony of how he came to Christ when dwelling in a cave outside of Palm Springs. In this book we watch Doug mature from boy to father and pastor, and get to know some of the interesting personalities he met along the way. Following an adventurous education -- military school, an experimental free school, and even school on a boat -- Doug sets out on his own and lives in a cave, where he finds a Bible and becomes a Christian. Later, a pastor and friend mentors Doug into also becoming a pastor.
My grandfather lent me this one (think he'd gotten it from a doctor's office) on the 4th of July and I enjoyed it a lot! Doug's odyssey reminded me of the teachings in the book of Ecclesiastes. As I was reading I liked to flip over to the photos at the back, which made the exciting stories (often accompanied by thought-provoking insights) even more vivid.
It's truly an inspiring testimony to see how God was leading and working in his life through it all! So many things Doug has experienced! So many ways God was always there even b4 he dedicated his life to Christ. A must read, it rlly makes u reflect back onto ur own life and realise the work God has done in it.
Unbelievable! A life of transformation through belief in Jesus Christ-with Him all things are possible, It was a powerful testimony of change and when you are changed how you can be an influence of change for others. Let God prevail in your life and share his miracles with all those you come in contact with.
An interesting confessional about the delinquency and redemption of a hippie. It's remarkable to me how writers can recall details and conversations from long ago, events probably surrounded by a haze of drug and alcohol abuse!
It's a testimony by a Pastor, so that should be taken into account when looking at quality. The subject is always the hero of his own story, the plot bounces around a bit, and is not very coherent. Lastly, there were many typos throughout. You can tell there was a real effort though...
We each have our own life story to tell and Doug's is both heartbreaking and inspiring. I love hearing how individuals find Christ and what a difference He makes in their lives. I am grateful that in Christ Doug finally found the love, peace, and joy he had been searching for all along.
At first I had thought that this book was going to be just a made up story. Seems to be a testimony of the author. It's a wild Journey going through the book. It is a bit fast-paced. Overall, it was a decent read. I don't mean to diminish someone's testimony by calling it just a simple read. I did enjoy the book but it did kind of hurriedly rushed through the characters in the stories.
