If you’re looking for a really good Brother’s-Best-Friend MM romance then you don’t want to miss this one.

I really enjoyed Knox and Gunnar’s story. My favorites thing about this trope is when they're scared of the brother finding out. And this one had awesome tension levels when it came to that.

Knox and Gunnar were really hot together and I really liked that mental health issues were given a spotlight in this story. It was dealt with the sensitivity that it needed and that importance of it came through nicely.

Such an enjoyable read... 💙🥰💙

After what I thought was a slow start, this book turned out to be quite sweet. There was steam, romance and even a little suspense. All in all, it made for a pretty good read.

Gunnar and Knox have known each other each other forever, so it seems like an easy leap to become more than friends. I did feel like Gunnar and Knox put way too much weight on what Malcom, Knox’s brother, thought. These are two grown men doing what their hearts tell them to do. Malcom doesn’t really get a say in consenting adults business.

Knox the bear being the bottom was delightful. I love non-traditional roles like that. Gunnar was a dirty talking man and I loved it. They seemed to suite one another really well.

Another solid addition to this series. I’m very interested to read Bennett’s story!

Danger and spice sure does make everything nice. John’s nailed this story. Forced to find a place to live Knox lands in the home of his childhood obsession. Gunner is just a good guy who wants to help and has a heart of gold. These two have the sweetest push and pull and the danger element just adds so much emotion. Huge hit in my book! Loved loved loved it!

This is a first read for me from this author and I truly enjoyed it.

Gunnar and Knox have known each other for their whole lives due to their moms being best friends, his older brother Malcolm and Gunnar are best friends. Knox always wanted to hang out with them, he had a crush on Gunnar.

" I swear, each day I wake up next to him, I fall in love all over again. he has my heart in the palm of his hand, and I never want it back."

Now knox is 35, works as a body guard for Hunter Security, but disaster strikes when his house catches fire and burns to the ground. His big brother Malcolm rushes Knox to the hospital to get him checked out. Gunnar works at the hospital as a doctor and is working the night shift. Gunnar take action and he runs some tests to make sure Knox is ok and in the clear, but thankfully when the results come back they are all good and Knox is able to get discharged and go home but wait he has no home and doesn't have a place to stay. So Gunnar tells him he can stay at his place.

Gunnar can't see him with no place to go even though he thinks it's a bad idea for the two off them to be in the same place. Gunnar recently discovered he is bi-sexual, and Knox is exactly Gunnar's type. But he dismisses the idea because Knox is off-limits, and he wants to be there to support him in his time of need.

With Knox now living with Gunnar, they end up spending a lot of time together. And the more time they spend together, the more the attraction to each other builds, they have an instant connection. The only problem is Malcolm. Will he be against them being together?!. but they can't seem to stay away from each other, knox and Gunnar finally give into each other, and it's so fucking hot 🥵 and that dirty talk from Gunnar, holy cow, that man and his mouth🥵🔥 all of their steamy and sweet moments together was awesome.

Knox gets a call from the fire department, he is then told that the fire was not an accident. He cant think why someone would want to harm him, so he decides he needs to figure out who is after him and why. I loved the support he got from his work etc. Touched my heart. Knox is worried that who ever is after him will harm Gunnar and he's not about to let that happen, specially to the man he's falling in love with. He's also still worried about how his brother will act when he learns about there relationship.

I absolutely loved there story and was anxious to see how malcolm would react to Knox and Gunnar being together. This took me on a rollercoaster ride, that was filled with danger, suspense, love, support, spice, great characters and more, I can't wait to see what comes next and I will definitely need to go back and read the ones before Knox. I highly recommend. 10/10 for me..

This series promises some angst, and I know I'll regret it later, but I need to read some angst-y things right now. Here's Laura John's Hunter Security series. The third novel is "Knox."
["KNOX
I’m a tough-as-nails military veteran now working as a bodyguard for one of the world’s best security firms, and I’m excellent at my job. I’m also secretly in love with my brother’s best friend.
Some might call it a “crush,” but I hate that term. What I feel for Gunnar runs deeper, truer, than a simple teenage fling. I might as well have his name tattooed permanently on my heart.
When I’m suddenly forced from my home and in need of a place to stay, it’s Gunnar that offers up his spare room to me. Without any other options, and despite his constant closeness being torture, I gratefully accept.
Now I just have to keep my feelings locked up tight. I need to resign myself to only ever being in the friend zone, even if I want so much more.

GUNNAR
I’d only ever thought of Knox as being Malcolm’s younger brother. We weren’t really friends as kids, he was just there.
It wasn’t until I moved back home from overseas that I really noticed him. Long gone was the boy he used to be. Instead what I saw was all MAN; confident, attractive, and completely off-limits.
When I open my home to Knox in a pinch, it doesn’t take long for his proximity and charm to start breaking down my defenses. I can’t stay away, craving him more than I have anyone before.
Two things quickly become very clear. First, what we have runs deep—for both of us. Second, Knox is in danger, and someone’s out get him.
Now, not only do we have to worry about staying in Malcolm’s good graces, but we also have to watch our backs and keep our heads low.
Can our feelings weather the storm, or will rejection and danger tear us apart?"]

Oh wow. This book. Woooooow. I-- It was amazing. This book. Was fucking fantastic. It was the perfect balance and angst and sweet and danger and comfort and risks and spice and found family and rewards and love. It was just...it was so good. It was so so good.

And I only almost cried (three times). That's better than full on sobbing in the living room, being judge by my family. ;)

Trigger Warnings: fire, knives, guns, time spend at hospitals, passing of a loved one, mental health issues, off page child abuse, off page domestic violence, and more.

I read this as a standalone and wasn't confused at all. Knox is ex military and works for Hunter Security. When his house burns down, his older brothers best friend offers his spare room while he figures out what to do next. The thing is, he has been crushing on Gunnar since childhood.
Gunnar is a doctor and has weird work schedules so he doesn't think having Knox in his home is gonna be that big of a deal. Gunnar is bi, but Knox doesn't know and is surprised when he finds out his brother Malcolm is trying to set Gunnar on a date.
Knox finds out he is being targeted and has a stalker, Gunnar wants to protect him. They soon can't fight their attraction and they make out but stop when Gunnar reveals that Knox is off limits according to Malcolm. They try and resist but they can't so they decide to hide it from Knox's brother.
As the stalker keeps making attempts at hurting Knox, they decide to try a new bring the person out by making them believe they will be at a hiking trail alone. Turns out there was many people there and no danger in sight, when someone crossed for help and Gunnar goes to rescue her as he's a doctor, turns out to be the one trying to kill Knox, Gunnar takes a stab wound and stalker ran off.
While Gunnar is in hospital, Malcolm is notified as well as Gunnars parents, that's when Malcolm finds out about the relationship, gets angry and runs off. He turns up at Gunnars house to confront Knox, things are said and he punches Knox in the face and takes off and doesn't try and talk again for a while.
Turns out he needs help. He needs therapy for his mental health issues, he apologized and is OK with their relationship then. Just didn't want to lose his best friend if things turned sour.
It was a great read, the sex was on page not fade to black.

on par with series

Overall, this story didn’t feel well thought out. The suspense is underwhelming. Devil’s in the details, which IMO were lacking.
What does work is character interaction- they’re both good solid people with strong family ties, dedicated professionals who are loyal and have the respect of colleagues. This is a right place, right time romance.

Gunnar and Knox have known each other all their lives, families have always been close, Gunnar & Knox’s brother are best friends, Knox has been crushing on Gun since he was a teenager, Gunnar had bi awakening that Knox is unaware of.
Knox is a little too agreeable with family, his brother has an overbearing, coddling attitude that would be more believable if Knox hadn’t been military trained and part of a successful security firm.
However, the security aspect on page was poorly represented in this book. The “villain” pops up and gets wrapped up seemingly little effort. Malcolm’s mental health issues are also quickly glossed over with no real angst- which is true disservice to those suffering from anxiety

Laura John did not disappoint! Although things started off slowly for Knox and Gunnar, once they dove in, they dove ALL THE WAY IN! Forced from his home, Knox stays with Gunnar, who he has had a crush on since he was a teenager. Unfortunately, Gunnar is his brother’s BFF, and is therefore off limits, plus he believes that Gunnar is straight.

During his stay, he learns that Gunnar is actually bi, and that he (Knox) is very much his type. Not wanting to ruffle Malcom’s feathers, they try and keep their feelings toward one another quiet.

Unfortunately, it seems someone might be after one of them, and when one ends up hospitalized, everything blows up. Can their romance survive? Will family be accepting that they’re together, or will this end lifelong friendships?

I definitely enjoyed Gunnar and Knox’s story, and how Laura again kept things spicy, while still maintaining a solid plot!

Spice level:  🌶️🌶️

Book 3 in the Hunter Security series, and this one turned the narrative on it's head a little. I loved that it was the bodyguard being targeted, rather than the client. And I'm a sucker for brothers' best friend/forbidden love romances. I also liked that John had a great focus on mental health in this book - even if some of the scenes felt rather flat and factual when discussing it (making it seem, at times, unrealistic).

I loved the budding relationship between Gunnar and Knox, and that they're both pining for each other, even if it takes some time for them to take the plunge into the relationship together.
However, I did find the villain arc of the book kind of... flat. I honestly wasn't convinced with that whole plot in the end - the reasoning for Knox's targeting - and the climax/resolution was kind of, well, anticlimactic in the end.

Overall, though, another good read in the Hunter Security series.

Good slow burn

Holy slowburns Batman. These guys were literally perfect for each other. But brocode forbids besties from dating their baby brother. I wanted to smack Malcom for being so against Knox & Gunner.

Most of the story is filled with the sexual tension exploding off the pages but both guys don't want to deal with big brother.

The suspense took a backseat to the emotional connection forged between Knox & Gunner. They've known each other their whole lives, but it was always Malcolm's baby brother. The forced proximity allowed them to build a new relationship based on who they are today, not who they were as kids.

I'm excited to see who Bennett gets in his story. He pretty much jinxed himself in this book - his love interest is going to be a doozy! I'm totally here for it.

This book takes you back into the world of Hunter Security, and boy is it a great world. Knox is
broody and an unforeseen circumstance finds without a place to stay.

This brings us to Gunner who is best friends with Knox's brother. He is there willing to lend a hand to Knox when he is in need. Gunner has recently discovered another path in his sexuality, and though he invites Knox to stay with him he is apprehensive as Knox is exactly his new type. Unbeknownst to him he is the star of Knox's fantasies...

This book takes you on an emotional ride through the challenges and triumphs that bring them to their own EHA. You will not be disappointed with this read.

Knox is the perfect brother’s best friend to lovers with a hint of suspense!

Knox has always had feelings for his older brother’s best friend Gunnar. After Knox’s house burnt down, Gunnar offered to let Knox stay with him despite what Knox’s brother thought. I loved the forced proximity in this book. After spending so much time together, Gunnar develops feelings for Knox. Knox and Gunnar did not want tell Knox’s brother about the being a couple because Malcolm felt he would be losing his best friend!

Spice was definitely spicing between these two! They never wanted to keep their hands off each other! The suspense in this book was really good! Did not see the stalker coming!

Love in a secret

Knox's house burns down and he ends up staying with Gunnar who is his brother's lifelong best friend. Knox has had a secret crush on Gunnar for 20 years since he was 15. Malcom Knox's big brother is adamant that best friends are off-limits for family to date. As they try to not get involved things become complex.
Compounding everything Knox is informed that his house fire was arson - someone wants him dead.
The love that develops between Knox and Gunnar is beautiful to watch as they try to contain their emotions.
Add in family dynamics and a person who wants Knox dead makes this book a must read!

Damn!!! Knox and Gunner hit every single string of my heart ❤️.
Danger with enough spice is just the type of trope I love to read. And on top of that this one has Brother's best friend trope with an over bearing big brother who doesn't want his brother to date his best friend and vice versa. Lots of drama, steam, danger, heartache and this was a perfect read.

Overall it was an perfect read the pace of the story was just right and the plot was quite realistic too.

A security agent is being stalked by a killer, after his house burns down he moves in with his brothers best friend. That is the premise for this m/m romance. Liked both main characters and the suspense in finding the stalker was reasonably well done if not a little rushed. Wished there had been more back story, but the Romance was satisfying. Would like to read more about these two .

Out of the three so far, this story is the most chill.
Yes, someone is trying to kill him, and there is some drama, but you kind of clock who is trying to kill him if you pay attention.

I really love this couple, and I love how they have brought up the topic of mental health.

Well worth the read xx

Knox and Gunner

I love a good brothers best friend trope. Knox and Gunner are such good guys. Malcom was a bit much with the whole siblings are off limits, considering everyone's age, but I suppose that's what makes their story. Can't wait for the next book.
