Warrior Hearts Academy #4

Warrior Hearts Academy: Centaur Rift

Rate this book
I thought I understood the way the world worked.
Family was something other people had. Trust was rewarded with betrayal. And survival depended upon brains and brawn.

Until a stallion in a moonlit cornfield proves that everything I had ever believed is a lie.

Because he isn’t exactly a horse. Although after shifting into six and a half feet of gorgeous human warrior, he’s certainly hung like one. Consider me awestruck.

Or completely unhinged, more likely.

This guy threatens both my sanity and the walls built around my heart. But he also houses a destructive secret. When he tells me he was once a Centaur who lived in another realm, my jaw drops even further. Just how broken is this dude?

To show he’s not, he takes me through a portal and reveals that werewolves, dragons, and warlocks are real. Some of them horrify me, others call to my heart—and a few do both.

Could things get any crazier? Apparently so.

Turns out, I have secrets of my own.

Who knew?

The Warrior Hearts Academy Centaur trilogy is a dark, slow burn, paranormal/fantasy romance where the strong female main character has many love interests that she doesn’t have to choose between. No need to read books one to three in the world beforehand. Rift ends on a cliffhanger, but a happily-ever-after is guaranteed in Soar.

This is a new trilogy centered around the Warrior Hearts Academy, and it follows Marcus, Rafael, Havoc, and Riley. For those of you not familiar with the greater series, it's basically a reverse harem shifter romance, with a strong female lead and several males (2-4). However, the stories that take place in this universe are not all reverse harem stories, but they are shifter series and fated mates. While this trilogy can be read without reading any of the previous stories, I think it would be better to go back to the beginning, starting at least with the first of the three Warrior Hearts Academy books. But if you want a bigger picture, you should start with the Warrior Hearts series (1-5) as the battle between good and evil is developed over the course of the different books. I'm trying to remember if Cara (the healer--I won't mention her race in case you want to start at the beginning because I don't want to spoil anything) was in the Nightshifter novels (1-5), which the author wrote under the name L.E. Horn, but I'm not sure--it's been 3 years since I first discovered the author.

Back to this book, I read it fairly quickly as time allowed, but I was disappointed that it took more than halfway through the book before they got to the Academy. I love that there is a place for these people new to their situation to reinvent themselves and find a place where they can succeed and be more than they ever thought was possible. That said, I can see why the author took her time to develop this story. There are 4 people in this story, and each of them have very disturbing pasts, with some of them being forced into the side of evil. If you've read stories in this universe before, the big evil has changed a little bit, but they've all been connected in some way. For this reason I would recommend starting at the beginning. Some of these early stories have characters that are now working at the academy, so it's fun to read these later books with those characters in mind as they pop up.

The evil characters seem to tie sex, power, control, and blood magic inextricably together, so the main characters are very much damaged physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Their situations are such that you can't believe they'll ever be all right. But the theme of the books is that fated mates CAN heal them fully and together they are stronger than the evil. So while this story, and probably the next will leave you hanging and not feeling happy for the main characters, we know that eventually, they WILL be okay, and that's why I read these books. That said, these stories contain graphic sex, violence, abuse, and even some humor (I loved the first trilogy in this Academy series), so if you have specific sensitivities, I would recommend you read with caution or ask someone who has read them.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from BookSirens. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"Centaur Rift" is the start of a new series in the "Warrior Hearts Academy" world, where Riley learns there is so much more than the human world she grew up in... I absolutely loved going back to this world. These books always manage to reach the perfect balance between a dark paranormal series, with a touch of light-heartedness right when it's needed, and I absolutely love it. This is one of the very few series out there where the men are the ones suffering the most. I completely understand why the author chooses not to include trigger warnings, because some of them ultimately end up being spoilers, but if you have any triggers it might be wise to reach out to them first (or a reader who recently read the book).

That being said: I love the worldbuilding in this series, with all the different realms and the original characters who are a part of that. Every book introduces new species, with new powers and abilities and I love how they're all connected to each other in the Warrior Hearts Academy. Nothing is every easy in this world: these characters have to fight hard for their freedom, and relationships come with similar struggles. I love the push and pull, and how these characters feel fate trying to rush them in some things they fight tooth and nail.

It's perfectly possible to read this series without having read any other books in this world, but I promise you won't be disappointed if you pick up any of them. This was once again a great start, and I can't wait to see what will happen next!

Centaur Rift is the first book in the Warrior Hearts Academy Centaur trilogy by Ellie Horn. It is about Riley, Marcus, Rafael and Havoc and followes their different but somehow overlapping storylines. Rileys world is turned upside down as she finds out everything she ever read in her fantasy books is real. Marcus lives changes as his centaur form was taken from him. Rafael is trapped doing things he seems wrong and Havoc doesn't know any other live as that of a slave.
In this book we experience their stories from their point of view, which I find super interesting! I really liked the different characters and getting to know them better with every page. The world building is fantastic and I just love how many different creatures live in this world. I also loved the spice level and how open sexuality is dealt with in this world. All in all I really enjoyed reading this book!

*I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review*

This book was riveting! It's the first story I've read in this universe, and it definitely makes me want to go back and read the previous Warrior Hearts Academy books. It does work as a stand-alone, although it can feel a little overwhelming at first with all the new terms introduced within the world's framework. However, by about 20% of the way in, I felt pretty caught up and more able to connect the dots on the areas I had been lacking since I have not read the prior books.

I enjoyed the characters a lot in this book. They're not portrayed as perfect, and I really love how that leaves them so much room to grow throughout this book and the next two. I also liked how the characters reacted to the wrenches thrown into their lives, because they really struggle to come to terms with these changes rather than instantly adapting. For example, upon being thrust into a world of magic that she never knew about, the FMC struggles to adapt, relying heavily on one of the MMCs. However, when he fails to offer her the stability she craves in this new world, she gets bratty and frustrated over it, unable to see for a while how severely he is struggling with the changes in his own life. To me, this reads as a very good portrayal of culture shock, which often causes people to feel anger and resentment towards situations that mess up their familiar, comfortable worldview.

If you are sensitive to themes of dub-con/non-con, I would recommend being cautious with this book, as those themes appear heavily in this story. There is also a significant amount of graphic violence, which was a bit stomach turning at times. Although this is a great story, there is no book in the world worth pushing your boundaries for if those topics are triggering for you.

Raphael, Riley and Marcus, three very different individuals, three very different situations, each one steeped in pain, for very different reasons. Each connected through a series of dreams that seem more real than merely a dream. But there's a fourth who starts invading the dreams, a very deadly fourth individual, Havoc... he's a contradiction on two legs, or wings....

I love these characters, I love the realness of them, I love the challenges they face, I love how they try to figure out what is happening, I love, well, I just love it all! Riley is an impressive character, she's an orphan, going from one foster home to the next and doesn't fit in anywhere. Two new foster brothers are out to get her and boy was it tense! She flees in the most bizarre of ways and fate places her right in Marcus's path. Riley, gosh, as her strength and courage come to the fore, so does her very impressive ability, or perhaps abilities is more apt, I loved watching it unfold. The "thing" they feel between them threatens to overwhelm them but Marcus is already overwhelmed, after what the vile Isabel did to him, he's not who he was, he's desperately trying to get a hold of his inner demons, not fictional either, he really is carrying demons!

I was beginning to despair for them, that they wouldn't be able to avoid Isabel's clutches but who comes to save the day? Cara! I always love it when Cara appears because, quite frankly, she's my very favourite! An unflappable, caring, loving, given unicorn! And through her, Riley and Marcus end up at the academy and a whole host of awesome characters! Granted, many characters but once again, all believable, all pertinent and all awesome! Dragons, Satyrs, Wolves, Witches, you name it, you got it in this Academy! Cool right? The action is cool, the characters are cool, the story is cool, the plot incredible and intricate, the storytelling sublime. I honestly fell in love with Riley, Marcus and Rafael, I felt such sorrow for what they were enduring, and to see their progression, the realisation of what, where and how come into being. Marcus, oh heavens what he endured is beyond horrifying, I felt every iota of his pain. Rafael, well his goodness, his empathy is desperate to surface, his self loathing profound and he's helpless to stop it. I found myself spurring him in, whispering, "you can Rafael, you can".

I love the characters in this book and indeed from prior books in this world too, like Jacques, who can resist Jacques? No one, not even me! The suave jovial flirtatious Jacques is a real hoot. Kiko is adorable, not only in her ability but who she is, she's fierce. The mind reading twins, well, I'm waiting for the shoe to drop, I don't like them at all! And if I thought Isabel was evil before, I'm now convinced she's lost the plot, she's not sane... and together with Finn, all I could do was shudder in horror! Golly, I would name so many more characters who left a mark on me and this story, all so wonderfully brought to life by the author, all with their own wonderful personality, ok, some with really vile personalities but they all come together in this amazeballs book to give me a reading experience of a lifetime! A world I don't want to let go of, a world I definitely can't wait to explore more of.

Even though one doesn't have to have read the previous 3 books for full enjoyment of this book, I highly recommend you do! Even though the characters are well metted out so you're not missing any vital information, reading the previous books will add so much more to your reading pleasure. This is a world, these are characters I completely get lost in. A plot of many dimensions, a world of many colours, a read to set your heart racing!

CENTAUR RIFT is the first book in the Warrior Hearts Academy series BUT it appears to be a spin-off of either one or two previous series, so it did feel as though you were dropped into the middle of the action to begin with. On the cover, there is a IV but I only saw that once I had the book on my Paperwhite, as it didn't show up clearly on the book cover online.

That being said, I quickly became invested in Riley, Marcus, Rafael, and Havoc. Riley is awesome. She grew up as a foster kid and has dealt with horrible situations. This allows her to understand when Marcus swings back and forth with his moods, instead of throwing her own temper tantrum - even if she wants to! Marcus - oh, man! This poor male has had so much taken away and given so much sh!t in return, he breaks my heart. Rafael - I could see his storyline a mile away but the fun was in waiting for him to find out. He has been tormented in ways he doesn't even know about yet. I want to get him out of there! And speaking of getting out, poor Havoc! I want to wrap him up in the warm fuzzies, even if he does grumble about it. These four are brilliant and I can't wait for them to meet up.

I was thankful for Riley's ignorance as it meant I got explanations about the world and the different species in it, along with her. I can't wait to find out more about her!

Although I started off wondering what I'd let myself in for, I was in for a thoroughly enjoyable ride through this story, and can't wait to read more. Definitely recommended by me.

This wasn’t anything like I was expecting. I have a hard time getting into fantasy, but this was easy enough to understand. There was something about this that made it impossible to put it down.

I particularly enjoyed how our world tied into the fantasy world. It helped me get a grip on what was happening and helped me understand things I would’ve typically had to look up. The pronunciation wasn’t too difficult either. There were a lot of different moving pieces throughout the book that ties into each other wonderfully. The way the world building and characters are written, it feels too real. It makes you wonder if this could be outside our realm.

The one thing I would consider changing is the many POV’s there are. I felt like I constantly had to change different people to understand what was truly happening. But without these many POV’s, the story wouldn’t have been so good. I do wish there were more romance in this though. I understand the consequences, but I craved that next step.

There’s plenty of twists and turns. What’s inside of Marcus? Will the others escape? Will the family separated be reunite? Does Riley get more clarity? There’s just so much left to know in this series. The way the cliffhanger just appeared, I know I’m going to have to get the others to figure out all these unanswered questions.

This is a wonderful book to get someone who’s having a hard time falling into a complex fantasy world. If I had close friends who read like I do, I would defiantly want them to read this. Its one of the best books I’ve read this year and one I won’t think twice when see the others in the series.

In Centaur Rift Warrior Hearts Academy Centaur Trilogy: Book 1 by L. E. Horn we meet Rafael who is the twin brother of Anna from the Phoenix series he is with Isobel and coven and doesn’t really know full extent of her cruelty only what she allows him to see until he finally uncovers a secret from his past. We then meet Marcus who is a centaur who Isobel kidnaps and uses her blood magic to strip him of his centaur form and then puts other things in him to try and create a new breed of shifters to try and complete her mission to save the realms. Rafael ends up deciding that he doesn’t like what Isobel is doing to Marcus and he helps Marcus escape but Isobel wants him back. We then meet Riley who a foster kid who has just aged out of the system and is still staying with her foster family to protect her foster mother Molly from her abusive husband. But once her foster family gets two new foster son who takes an interest in Riley things start to go bad fast in her life. One day she is safe at home and then the next she is thrown into a world full of the supernatural and comes to find out she’s not human herself to top it off. Finally we meet Havoc he is a dragon known as a deranger and he is the last of his kind. Isobel sees him when he comes with Brock (the last of Xumi kids) to help her recapture Marcus. Isobel decides that she wants him because of his talent and sets out to get Rafael to help her capture him. What will happen to the four of them if you want to know you have to read Centaur Rift and find out what happens but just know that it leaves off on a cliffhanger. Rcvd an advanced reader copy from booksirens for giving my two cents. We meet satyr hybrid who had the talent of compulsion. He has done horrible things for Isobel, a former watcher who took over the work the the cleansing work of her former employer. She is no better than he was. Isobel is making shifters into smtg new. He meets a centaur Marcus who the is only survivor of one of isobels experiments. A centaur, who now has human legs and other being ls within him. This is not good. Rapheal helps Marcus escape. We meet Riley, a young woman in foster care is who running from her foster brothers before they hurt her. She didn't except a talking horse to tell her to get on him...she is sooo losing her mind..evenmoreso when he changes into a man...a very good looking man. Marcus is trying to come to terms with these 2 new legs and the voices in his head. This girl...he has dreamed of her and now she is here. Escaping with their lives after riley teleports them, they meet Cara, a watcher who takes them to the academy to keep Isobel from finding him. He can't help his attraction to Riley which is dangerous bc the thing inside him wants her. We then meet dragon/deranged created by the former dragoness Xumi...he thrives on death and destruction but had a soft spot. He also dreams of a girl who touches him...who is she? An obedient warrior for the new dragon lord has him fighting with himself...and being around the satyr doesn't help. There is more at play than anyone knows and it's just the beginning.

This book has many trigger warnings, there is an attempted assault, lots of blood, dubious consent, so be prepared once you start reading.

You get 4 POV’S with a few others thrown in. It takes a while for all four of the characters to be around each other in person. They are all going throw some really horrendous experiences and their dream world is where they all seem to connect. It takes a while for them to figure things out.

Rafael is in denial about what he knows in his heart is wrong. However, he is trapped by someone who maybe stronger…he has not pushed himself to see if he has grown stronger than his owner.

Riley is a foster child/young adult that has aged out of the system and is trying to find her way in the world. Her sense of loyalty may be her undoing. When a stallion makes a surprise visit, she is thrown into a world that she never knew existed.

Marcus is whom that stallion turned out to be. He finds himself in a new body that he is coming to grips with. He is trying to figure out his way in the world now with a new body, a building attraction and let’s not forget the spirits/ghosts that is also inhabiting his new body.

Havoc is also trapped and while he lets himself appear unfeeling to other’s he feels so much that it is driving him over the edge.

The dream world is where they all seem to find relief. The story does end on a cliffhanger just as things start getting good.

I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.

Fair warning...if you have triggers or sensitive issues,,,these characters do have dark pasts...and presents for that matter.

This is actually Book 4 in the Warrior Hearts Academy series. The first trilogy headlining Anna starts with Pheonix Fall which I would recommend reading before this so the world is a bit better understood. In this trilogy, we meet Rafael, Anna's twin she didn't know existed. Isobel, Aurrora and the evil coven are still a major concern using their bloodmagic and sex to overpower and create their "army". And Rafael is under their thumb!

I like that each chapter gives a different main character point of view so you see/experience more of their feelings and actions. (Rafael's did seem to drag in certain areas..specifically scenes with Aurora. I get she is evil but it got a bit redundant).

And, eventhough this is a part of the "Warrior Hearts Academy"series, I thought it smart that the beginning chapters had nothing really to do with that and let us explore Riley, Rafael, Marcus, and, eventually, Havoc's backgrounds, feelings, strengths, weaknesses. In general, we get to see what makes them tick, before any immersion into academy life and goings on.

I think this was an interesting start to the story of Riley/Marcus/Rafael/Havoc, and the ending has a nice hook to want you to open Book 5!

“ARC” Review - The Centaurs Rift

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Tropes:
- Spicy
- Witches, shapeshifters and magical creatures
- Multi POV
- Dark fantasy
- Healing magic
- Creature magic
- Badass MFC

“Then I remembered, I had seen her before in my dreams. Her eyes blazing green fire.”

Three lives from different worlds tangled together in fate. This dark fantasy is a beautifully written story set in a magical fantasy world with witches, shapeshifters and other magical creatures. The author Ellie Horn creates a beautiful fantasy world you can’t help but dive into. Written in multiple points of view, this series puts me in the mind of an adult dark fantasy version of the Chronicles of Narnia.

The Centaurs Rift is the first book in the Warrior Hearts Academy Series. Ellie Horn has also written other series set in this magical world. There are no trigger warnings in the book, but a few things you should consider if you are triggered by are violence, graphic sexual content and abuse.

I love a good morally grey book but this one was a little outside my normal comfortability. I try to get out of my normal genre every now and again to discover new things.

Ellie Horn has done it again. I was excited to receive an ARC of Centaur Rift to read. I will say it was an awesome read. I know that it is not necessary to read the Phoenix Trilogy first but I am glad that I had already done so. For me it made this book that much more intense, suspenseful, and once again a source of fun humor....and interesting angst for all types of beings. I enjoyed the characters and each unique personality. I am wanting to add spoilers here as I am finding it challenging to share some of my thoughts without it. That being said I highly recommend Warrior Hearts Academy:Centaur Rift. I think Marcus and Riley will catapult you into the middle of an adventure I can not wait for more of. I am excited for the next book in this portion of the Warrior Hearts Academy to appear. Please give yourself the treat of reading this angsty, sensual(at times) and with all the musings of characters that make this a read to smile with often. Oh...don't get me wrong there are angry and low moments. I just find the internal and interpersonal snark of the characters one of the best ways I engaged with Centaur Rift.

What I Liked:
I liked how the story built to include move POVs as those characters were introduced. I find too many POVs can be difficult to follow, but Centaur Rift expanded gradually to include more characters.

What Bothered Me:
There were a few comments and thoughts of characters that hit me as odd or inconsistent while reading.

Overall:
If you are a voracious reader of paranormal romance, you might want to check out the Warrior Hearts Academy series; however, I would start with Pheonix Fall. When I started Centaur Rift, I was under the impression it was the first book of a trilogy. After finishing, I found out it was actually the fourth book of the series but the first featuring the female protagonist, Riley. Knowing that helps explain why I had the funny feeling I was missing some background during the first half of the book. I will also note that Centaur Rift does end in a cliffhanger; although, it's a good one that leaves you wanting to know what happens next without desire to strangle the author.

This is the first novel of a new trilogy set in the Warrior Heart Academy overarching world. You don't need to read the rest of the novels to enjoy this one, but it helps follow the larger world and make sense of some of the side characters/cameos.

This a RH, "why choose", fantasy novel. It has some dark elements, and leaves off on a cliffhanger as well.

Riley, the FMC, gets pulled from here human world into this new fantastical fantasy world, by a very attractive man. This kicks off another great story about characters finding themselves, and each other, while also battling the forces f good an evil.

I love that the characters in these books have their own struggles and trials. They're not all black and white, and they change and grow as the stories go along. The world building is also great, and I always find myself sucked into these books.

The first instalment in the next excellent trilogy

First up, read the cautions - there is a lot of dubious consent and some non-consensual sexual activities in this book. The main male characters are even more morally grey than usual, although our main female character (Riley) is gloriously strong and sunshiny - despite her troubled past. Overall the story is quite dark and tortured, although there are a number of lighter moments. I find one of Riley’s new sidekicks quite annoying, but that’s how stories and life goes sometimes, and it doesn’t really detract from how enjoyable and compelling this read is. I was super lucky to be able to dive straight into the second of this trilogy, which is most likely what you are going to want to do.

Full disclosure: I was given an ARC of the book, however this review is my own honest opinion.

This was a great story. Marcus escapes from Isobel who has changed him from centaur to more human with two feet. He meets up with Riley and they discover that she is a jumper when she saves them from Isobel's minions that she sent to retrieve Marcus. Cara at the academy will work with them to help them learn to control their new abilities. This book has Marcus feeling invaded with all the souls inside of him and Riley is scared to jump because different thing change when she jumps. The emotions between Marcus and Riley are heartbreaking as Marcus can't control his emotions. I look forward to the next book as Marcus goes in the search of his father, Riley learns to control her jumps and ally's that will help stop Isobel from her madness.

First I absolutely love the world Ellie has created. Reading I see that characters from her other series in this work make appearances! I highly recommend reading that series first! The book is told from multiple point of views. You will meet many characters in the book old and new. Riley the fmc who comes from a rough upbringing but has love and you see a range of emotions. Marcus who is adapting and learning. Isobel and Aurora are just evil. Raphael who I can't seem to dislike is going through so much. I'm rooting for him though. There is Havoc and Fang who I can't wait to see more of in the next book! There's the tale of finding love, coming into one's self, redefining one's self, magic and so much more! A must read!

Who is Rafael? What mythical beast does he ride? Who is he riding with, and where? Oh, not a good guy. Not right now. Who is Riley? Where do we find Marcus, Aurora, and Isobel? Who and what is a Deranger? I was surprised at what I learned. I was stunned by what Riley did. What is done to Marcus, and by whom? How does he meet Riley? How does Riley meet Cara? I despise Isobel and Aurora. Rafael and Fang's interactions are a hoot! I was in tears when I finished this story. So many things that cause harm, pain, and death. Though justice or maybe revenge I saw Rafael get was an exciting read. Now he realizes some truths. What is genuinely inside Marcus? What is going on with Riley? Hopefully, we will get some answers in the next book, Bolt. Enjoy.

So if you have read this authors other books then you know the world that is mentioned in this book and the differentshifters. This book is seen from the PoV of new characters and at a different time in the same storyline.
This time though we are taken along for the ride on the back of a used to be centaur and a girl who has grown up in the foster system. Both have similar backgrounds except one of them does not know that the dreams and creatures they see are real and the other well...let's just say apparently hung like a horse is something they can honestly say they do 😆.
This is a slow torture of a burn spice that has the right amount of self discovery along the way.

Rafael isn't sure he is helping the right side, he feels he owe a duty to the people he is assisting, but does he truly know their true intensions? Riley wants to protect Molly (her foster mother) and Riley tries to convince Molly to leave with her. For Riley doesn't feel safe on the farm with her two new foster brother, who seem to want to stir up trouble. What will happen the moonlit stallion enters Riley's world? I enjoyed this paranormal romance, which has plenty of action, secrets, supernaturals, and I need to know more.

Book one of a new trilogy and it is good! I enjoyed the first series so was super excited to read this and it did not let me down! New characters, Raphael, Riley and Marcus who find themselves at the Warrior Hearts Academy, where you will find many difficult kinds of paranormal beings such as dragons, wolves, witches and satyr to name but a few. Our three have endured a lot, been through so much and experienced so much pain and by the end definitely have you in their corner. It’s an incredible read, set in an incredible world with strong, incredible characters and I am so looking forward to book two.

It has been a long time since I read such a well written and interesting book. I love fantasy and I usually seek new things that push the boundaries of imagination.

And Centaur Rift definitely brings new angles and complex situations masterfully woven in the horizon of the fantastic realms that combine unexpected events and deep turmoils ment to shedder and re-build the inner universes of the main characters.

Leaving yourself driven into the action-packed pages of Centaur Rift will reveal endless possibilities that you'll love.

When I first started reading this book I didn’t thought it was a book for me but after a few chapters it began to surprise me and I kept reading. It is written in 2 different times/ worlds. Our world and a different world that read a bit as an old world and that was what pushed me off this book first but the writer wrote this world so good that it intrigued me.
It really is a good story, very well written, with a building harem and definitely a bit different than I’m used too but if you like elf realms than you definitely like this book to.
Little last note, the story ends with a cliffhanger!

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I wasn't expecting the different types of magic, though I know shapeshifting was a given somehow. I like how differently the shifting was done compared to most shifter stories. I love how the characters were portrayed and how events changed their personalities accordingly. Have to say, I like the fire based satyr; think her name was Kiko?

The cliffhanger, I was half expecting but was on the edge of my chair regardless. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

I love the world building created by this author, the characters are well rounded and likeable, particularly Riley and Fang, the story is well plotted and twisted. I’m glad I’d read the previous series, it definitely makes it easier to follow. It was slightly too graphic for me at quite a few points, but then I’m not really the target audience. I can still appreciate the skill the author shows but not the book for me. 3 1/2⭐️ (rounded up, because the target audience will love it).

I've read the Phoenix series of Ellie Horn and loved it. So it wasn't surprising the the Centaur series is off to a good start! I like the world building and it was very easy to get into. As I generally love reading about the tensions and romance, I would have preferred this escape to be more prominent in the book but it's all good. The action and mystery more than makes up for the lack of lovey dovey scenes.

Exciting Place to Explore !! . . .

Starting off slowly at first, the book definitely picked up steam as it moved forward. Riley will have her world turned upside-down as she finds out there is more out there than she ever imagined. Taken through a magical portal by Marcus, she will see the proof for herself that other magical creatures exist. Grab this exciting story and enjoy. I must admit I am still trying to piece it all together but the exploration of other realms is worth the effort!

Wow! This is the best book I have read in a long time. It seems very realistic, like it could happen in real life. Riley is an amazing character that you feel you can relate with easily. Marcus is also a fantastic character. All the characters come alive in this magical story. The fight against good and evil, which side will win. This page turner is a must read.
I am looking forward to reading this series. I highly recommend this book from teen to adult.

Author Ellie Horn has given us a brand new awesome adventure. Definitely has similarities, but also completely different and darker than the first trilogy. There are so many new characters that I was worried it would become boring and redundant, but was pleasantly surprised how she has begun to blend them together. Expect the unexpected and not to have many answers at the end because this is cliffhanger central x3!!
