When a Secret Santa matchup sends Ryu to the wrong Daddy, will it be a pleasant surprise for both of them or will grumpy Kissmass Daddy Hank prove why he's been alone for over a year?
The moment Hank lay eyes on the basket outside his door he figured someone down at the club was playing a joke on him. The boy was adorable but certainly not meant for him. Learning who Ryu was meant for changed everything though, and suddenly the man who wasn’t interested in the package on his doorstep was loudly declaring Ryu his.
Never in his wildest dreams did he think that simple statement would change his bleak holiday season into one of hope and love.
LAYLA DORINE lives among the sprawling prairies of Midwestern America, in a house with more cats than people. She loves hiking, fishing, swimming, martial arts, camping out, photography, cooking, and dabbling with several artistic mediums. In addition, she loves to travel and visit museums, historic, and haunted places.
Layla got hooked on writing as a child, starting with poetry and then branching out, and she hasn’t stopped writing since. Hard times, troubled times, the lives of her characters are never easy, but then what life is? The story is in the struggle, the journey, the triumphs and the falls. She writes about artists, musicians, loners, drifters, dreamers, hippies, bikers, truckers, hunters and all the other folks that she’s met and fallen in love with over the years. Sometimes she writes urban romance and sometimes its aliens crash landing near a roadside bar. When she isn’t writing, or wandering somewhere outdoors, she can often be found curled up with a good book and a kitty on her lap.
A Daddy for Christmas: Ryu by Layla Dorine is part of the A Daddy for Christmas series by multiple authors. This is the story of Ryu and Hank. I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.
I absolutely love Ryu and Hank!! They’re so cute together!! I’m so happy that Hank’s friends brought them together knowing that they would be a great Daddy and Little Boy!!
Ryu is part of the ‘A Daddy for Christmas’ collection written by various authors. This stars Ryu, a little, and Hank, a Daddy. This is told in third person from Hank and Ryu’s pov.
The blurb does a good job of explaining the plot so I won’t go into it much except for one scene which I’ll talk about later. The plot was interesting and the author did a good job of creating characters that had distinct personalities. I did think there wasn’t enough time spent on the Daddy/little dynamic, instead replacing that with too much sex that I don’t feel worked to demonstrate their relationship. Hank mentioned how Ryu helped him in Hank’s creative job of designing artwork for motorcycles, but I wish there was more connection between the two men when Ryu wasn’t in his little space.
Like I mentioned, Hank and Ryu had a Daddy/little relationship, which I would characterize as ‘light BDSM.’ Nothing was ever talked about between the two about what their limits were or what Ryu’s safe words were. Hank would just throw an idea at Ryu and Ryu would automatically say yes, which I didn’t like how BDSM was portrayed because none of the basics were laid out when they started to play. One scene affected me enough that I had trouble enjoying the rest of the book.
I’ll set the scene. Ryu asks Hank for help waxing his junk. Ryu has done it numerous times before with his friend Kayla helping. He doesn’t seem to be bothered by the idea of waxing, nor any pain it might cause, he continues to wax. Hank asks Ryu if he wants to try something to distract from the pain from the waxing. Ryu says yes. This is where I’m flabbergasted by the way the scene is written. Again, this is nothing Hank discussed before with Ryu; he just springs it on him. He also doesn’t run a test on Ryu’s hand first. The trick Hank wants to use, is applying Stinging Nettle to Ryu’s junk! Has anyone touched Stinging Nettle? I have, and it’s indescribably horrendous. It stings terribly and raises welts; it also doesn’t stop stinging or itching. I couldn’t wash it off, and aloe vera or calamine lotion didn’t help. It lasted for days! It’s one of the worst things I’ve ever felt. And Hank applied it to Ryu’s genitals. I don’t even know why the author felt this was a great idea. Stinging Nettle is used in BDSM for those who are really into pain, but for a first timer, who was used to playing mild BDSM, and on Ryu’s junk? It was insane. Why would the author write this? Ryu clearly hasn’t had trouble with pain before while waxing, why set this up? Why not just use the wax as the pain scene? Why didn’t Hank try the nettle on Ryu’s hand first? Not only that, after Hank applied it to Ryu’s junk, he gave Ryu a blow job. I read, I forgot where, that Stinging Nettle could be transferred from say a dog to you, if you pet the dog. Hank would’ve got the nettle inside of his mouth, his tongue, and down his throat when he swallowed. In my opinion he's not a smart Daddy, nor was the idea of writing the nettle scene a great idea. I hope that no one ever tries this in real life unless they’ve touched and experienced for themselves what this weed feels like first. As soon I read that scene, my enjoyment of the story came to a screeching halt. I almost didn’t finish the book. Instead, I set it aside and read a few other ones. I did go back and finish reading, but I didn’t get as much enjoyment from it as I had in the first part of the story.
Another obvious problem, was there were a lot of grammar errors. The book almost seems like a draft instead of a finished product.
I would’ve liked to have read more about Hank and Ryu in their Daddy/little mode and in their adult mode, and not so much about sex. The one BDSM scene really interfered with my enjoyment of this book. I give Ryu, 3 Stars.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book by one of the best authors, Layla Dorine! This well written and plotted book quickly became one of my top favorite daddy/little books of the year! The pacing is perfect, and immediately drew me in, and kept my interest until the end. From the little Ryu's first words, "I pressy", he captured my heart. Ryu regresses to 3 years old when in little space. He is incredibly cute, while also being expressive and intelligent. He works in the dance arts. Daddy Hank is a morally gray, grumpy, no nonsense, smart, former bike gang member. He was injured while doing a shady job for his MC. Hank now has a limp and uses a cane to get around. He owns his own successful home business. The development of Hank and Ryu's relationship is realistic and fully explored. Their chemistry is perfection, and is filled with emotional, swoony, scorching hot scenes. All the books I have read by Layla Dorine have vivid, lively characters, realistically written dialogue and relatable situations. This story has all that, and many elements I hoped to read in a daddy/little book. They are skillfully woven throughout the plot arc of the book. Some elements included: -Size difference. -Abdl, with lots of on page little time and active age play. -Multiple c*ckwarming scenes with Hank and Ryu. For example, while Hank is working, and while watching movies together. -Edging, suckling, fun sex toys. -Protective and loyal lovers. -Many heartwarming, supportive moments between daddy and little.
I love the way the author wrote this story, and this book is going on my short list of favorite rereads. I Highly recommend it!
A Secret Santa mixup has sent Little Ryu to the wrong Daddy and he is sitting in a basket outside of Hank's door who has no idea what is happening apart from it has to be connected to the local kink club he is a member of. As soon as Hank discovers who Ryu should have gone to he changes his mind and rushes the adorable boy in from the cold declaring that he is his. Never in his wildest dreams did Hank think that simple statement would change his bleak holiday season into one of hope and love.
This is a sweet story of an adorable boy and his reluctant Daddy who soon became the centre of their worlds as they got to know each other. There were plenty of tender moments as well as a lot of drama and danger around Hank and his history. Ryu was just adorable and there were times in the story that I wanted to hug him (especially when he felt abandoned like outside the front door at the start). Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic with binkies and diapers.
Layla Dorine just might be my new go-to author for Daddies and Littles. This story embodied everything I love best and was completely enchanting. I think one of the things I loved most was the nontraditional characters that the author chose. We have Hank, who is a retired biker and MC member, and who's also dealing with an injury that has left him slightly disabled. Ryu is an utterly adorable Little, who is new to the lifestyle and Asian. Even though he originally had no plans to have a new boy, Hank quickly changes his tune and embraces the young man who has been dropped on him. Ryu is probably one of my new favorite Littles. He's just so open and sincere and his age regression is very liquid, and he easily flows from Little to big. The story had such a perfect rhythm and just moved seamlessly from start to finish. The relationship between the two felt very genuine and real. There was no instalove but a gradual growing of intimacy and affection. It just ticked all my buttons and I would wholeheartedly recommend this sweet story!
There's no such thing as a perfect daddy/boy story. But this comes damn close. The author allows Hank and Ryu's relationship grow organically. It's never rushed. I could have done without the side story of Hank's old motorcycle club. It didn't add to the story, the angst was unnecessary rather than spicy. The sex, however, was very spicy. But what stood out the most was the patience and caring of an experienced daddy and the newbie boy who was delivered in a gift basket. An enjoyable read. Great characters. The main characters had believable chemistry. And most of the secondaries were as well. And then there was Artemis, the cat, with her antics including binkie stealing. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
I loved Ryu, he was so adorable. Ryu is offered to Hank a Christmas present, but he was originally meant for someone else, apparently. Hank however decides to accept Ryu as a present, and thier relationship begins there. I really loved how vulnerable both characters were. In most romances the MC are so perfect it's unbelievable, but these characters, especially Hank had flaws. I also loved the two of them get food poisoning together, because guess what, that is real life, and how does anyone of us navigate those situations in a new relationship. I really enjoyed watching this relationship grow, and would love to see their next chapter.
Lance Isley does a good job in distinguishing between the characters so you dont question whose pov or talking. at times it felt a little over narrated which took away some of the fun of the listening experience but not enough not to continue listening.
What Hank was not expecting for the holidays was a gift wrapped little at his doorstep but here we are. Ryu is the sweetest little who deserves the best daddy to love and cherish him and Hank however grumpy and stubborn he way be is just that. They have a few issues along the way, but thats growing pains for you. These two just compliment each other so beautifully you cant help but smile even when things dont go as planned. A great addition to the series. Wish I would have tried this author sooner.
But I’m happy to say that this was a surprise & a darling story. A mistake that turned out to not be a mistake after all. I love stories where you have the severe grump that has his world turned upside down by a gentle ray of sunshine & this story hit the nail squarely. The MC Hugh has been removing himself from the seedier side & sticking strictly with designing bike wraps for the club’s clientele. The seamless big to little to big Ryu’s character was given is the smoothest I’ve read yet in this series making it a book I didn’t want to put down until I finished it.
This is such an AMAZING Series!! Different Authors have banded together for this Beautiful collection of stand alone stories. If you love happy loveable Littles this is the series for you. Hank is a man who lives alone and likes it that way. Ryu is in desperate need of a Daddy. LAYLA DORINE covers all the bases in this MAGNIFICENTLY written relationship. I'm so happy I picked this one up. It's a precious Book. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND ALL THE BOOKS IN A DADDY FOR CHRISTMAS SERIES!!!!!!!!!!
This was super cute! I’m actually shocked the author managed to surprise me with how Ryu ended up with Hank. It’s rare that I get surprised since I usually get an idea that something will turn out different than it does. I have heard of a lot of books from Layla Dorine and I thought I had read some, but apparently, this is actually my first, so I will definitely be making sure I check out more of her books!
With all the warnings Hank gave to Ryu, I was almost expecting something more from his past to pop up. I would say, even with how gruff Hank is, the book is definitely more on the sweet instalove side. Not that I mind, instalove is one of my faves. I think I just wasn’t expecting it based on how the story started off.
This was my first listen to this narrator, Lance Isley, and I would definitely listen to more of his narrations. I can’t even begin to say how many time I laughed before of the way he narrated some parts. I mean, he narrated the cat. THE CAT! I busted out laughing when he meowed. I mean, it really wasn’t that funny, it was more that I wasn’t expecting it. I laughed every time he did though, lol. I also found it hilarious when he tripled his voice to do the chorus of when three of the Little’s were saying yes at the same time. Ya, I busted out laughing then too.
Overall, I thought the plot was interesting, definitely not a situation I’ve read before, and it was an enjoyable read.
~~~ I received a free copy of this audio and am voluntarily leaving a review. ~~~
They must really slam to get these stories out without an editor. Not looking good on that part. Without telling you about the whole book as some do, which makes you ask "Do I want to read it now after everything was let out"?. It is a big age gap between Hank and Ryu. I loved how Ryu was received at beginning. it was a sweet/cute story with some humor. Give it a try. On to the next. 🙂
DNF 35% A guy finds a half dressed little on his doorstep on Christmas eve. He was delivered to the wrong place but Hank, a former gang member/Daddy takes him in. What I liked was that Ryu is Asian and he addresses the discrimination against Asians in the gay community. But there were soooo many typos/grammatical errors that I just got frustrated and lost interest. So... might be me. If you can let it go, then your mileage may differ.
This was a sweet Daddy Little book, between a former biker daddy and a new little. It was a good mix of big and little, and I enjoyed the two main characters and the bits of their lives that were included. The proofreading was nonexistent, so if it’s hard for you to fix things in your head as you read them, be warned.
I loved how sweet Ryu was, such an adorable little and pretty awesome when he was big also. Hank seemed a little gruff at first but turned out to be a fantastic Daddy for Ryu. Even when things got sketchy with his former motorcycle club he made sure Ryu was a priority. And if something did go wrong, he made everything right again. Great story!
Hank’s sore knee makes him grumpy, but a bad winter storm helps him accept Ryu, his secret, surprise gift for the holidays. Enjoy how sketching, music and dance bring Hank and Ryu closer, honesty keeps them strong and creativity helps them experience many feelings and steamy moments!!!
A sweet story of a grumpy daddy and a sunshine boy brought together. It seems to be a mistaken delivery that works out so well for both of them. There are some wonderful friends we also get to meet in this story.
Hank and Ryu's story is super sweet and hot. I liked how the story progressed, but there were a lot of spelling errors/wrong words used. It's still worth the read but definitely could benefit from a proofread.
Currently this book has a low rating based on a single review; not sure why the previous reviewer disliked it so much. The story layout is slightly unconventional but overall it was a sweet and engaging story.
Well written story and well developed characters! Very emotional! I was totally engrossed and extremely invested! I laughed, cried, and giggled right along with the story! Loved it!
My first introduction to this author, but hopefully not my last. A delightful story with all of the feels, but also a surprising level of reality which made it even better.
Cute, low stakes, accidental romance. Would have been rated higher if there were fewer typos and mistakes - they were bad enough that they kicked me out of the story.
The story was sweet, but I felt like it was a bit unresolved with all of Hank's biker friends. Also, the spelling errors really took me out of the story.
This was really good. If you're looking for that daddy (biker daddy at that)/his little one vibes, this is it!! The narrator did a great job with the different voices.
