Michel Houellebecq

His works though, particularly Atomised, have received high praise from the French literary intelligentsia, with generally positive international critical response, Having written poetry and a biography of the horror writer H. After a disastrous publicity tour for this book, which led to his being taken to court for inciting racial hatred, he went to Ireland to write. In 2010 he published La Carte et le Territoire (published the same year in English as The Map and the Territory) which won the prestigious Prix Goncourt; and, in 2015, Submission.

Pamphlet per levarsi vari sassolini dalla scarpa dove Houllebecq racconta e argomenta alcuni mesi della sua vita che l’hanno visto coinvolto nella polemica anti-islamista e poi nel film porno. Soprattutto il secondo.
Fatti di cui sapevo poco, e di cui ora so altrettanto poco, se non il punto di vista di M.H., che è chiaramente di parte. Ma ho appreso che c’è stato un processo – in Olanda – che lo ha perso, che ce ne sarebbe stato un altro, probabilmente l’appello del primo, e che probabilmente avrebbe perso anche questo.
E il fatto che io sia disposto a credere alla sua versione della storia aggiunge o toglie poco alla faccenda: ho ormai sviluppato una forma di tenerezza per M.H. e vorrei tanto suggerirgli che non è obbligato a parlare in ogni microfono che gli mettono sotto la bocca, che non deve per forza accettare tutte le interviste che accetta (e sarebbe meglio prestasse più attenzione a rileggerne il testo prima della pubblicazione) e neppure partecipare a tutte le trasmissioni televisive cui lo invitano. Scrive, vende libri, non credo abbia problemi economici: un po’ di silenzio non gli guasterebbe. E si eviterebbe figure meschinelle come quelle raccontate qui.

I'm flabbergasted: This diary is absolutely terrible on every level. Houellebecq apologizes for his remarks about Islam, talks about his sexual preferences, and complains about being tricked into performing in a porno, and it all makes for a shockingly stupid mess. Let's try to pick the strands apart:
1. The Houellebecq porno
Questionable Dutch art collective KIRAC approached Houellebecq to star in a sex film, and, you know, he did have sex in front of a camera with a director present, but then said he was shocked that the woman he slept with was not really a passionate exhibitionist, but did it for money and fame, and was also not making enough of an effort (WTF). Houellebecq signed away his rights to the film, but claims he was unaware that you could sign away your rights after the film was produced so he did not expect the clause to be in the contract, which he did not properly read (WTFF???). Also, he did not google the people he made porn with, and he did not watch "Honey Pot", which he says they even sent to him, but he did not care to check it out ("Honey Pot" is an infamous sex film in which KIRAC degrade and insult a far-right philosopher who stars in it, and they released the intimate film without his consent). It also does not help that Houellebecq refers to KIRAC members in Nazi language, calling them "roach", "pig", etc.
2. The sex stuff
Why, Michel, why? Houellebecq details parts of his sexual preferences, seemingly to fight against extreme purity culture, but no one wants to hear that. Like, seriously, Michel, make it stop. And I don't say that because of ageism or because he is not conventionally attractive or anything like that, no: These passages are just stupid and unnecessary and serve no actual function. Taken together with his rants against feeling violated by KIRAC and the Islam passages that deal with alleged racism, they are also in very bad taste.
3. Islam
Houellebecq has realized that some of his utterances about Islam that led to him almost being sued for instigating hatred against Muslims were stupid, and he apologizes. He quotes the terrible passages and corrects them, and you can still debate over his new statements, but they are most certainly less stupid than before. It's certainly possible to claim that these corrections are the only reason the book exists, the publication protects him from being sued for his initial statements, and everything else in there is just fog to distract from this scandal. And what renders this whole thing ridiculous is exactly how the corrections get mixed up with sex and porn, the only connection being that, as the title suggests, the developments portrayed took place during the same months during his life. The effect is irritating.
So this rambling extravaganza is an effort to set the record straight: Houellebecq wants to show his side of the story, and he manages to look somehow just as bad if not worse than before. The structure is a mess, logic is largely absent, and some arguments are so absurd that I felt ridiculed by having to read them. What the heck, Michel? I've read all of this man's novels and still believe he is a great, great artist (I just love The Map and the Territory), but with this publication, there goes his Nobel...

De nuevo a vueltas con el amigo Houellebecq. Debo reconocer que por más problemáticas (o simples) que sean siempre sus obras, nunca te dejan indiferentes. Primer tanto a su favor. Dentro de una dinámica actual de buenísimo, querer quedar bien con todos los sectores y ámbitos...y el inaguantable sentido de la mayoria de escritores actuales de ser políticamente correctos con todos los movimientos sociales, Houllebecq de nuevo rompe con todos los cánones.
Como digo aquí Hoellebecq escribe un pequeño libro autobiográfico (esta vez sí) como el mismo reconoce para exorcizar sus problemillas domésticos y aprovechar el altavoz mediático que siempre tienen todas sus publicaciones, y dar su versión sobre los "escándalos" que le rodearon, a saber: un video porno publicado sin su consentimiento, y una polémica entrevista en que entra en batalla con el islamismo por unas palabras tergiversadas, o mal explicadas o mal entendidas.
Con ese libro consigue, el más difícil todavía: verter unas opiniones que pudieran mal entenderse de machistas o misóginas (bajo mi humilde punto de vista erróneas), y en definitiva crear más polémica todavía de la que ya existía. La puntuación media de GR es de 2,60, me temo que a mucha gente no le ha gustado.
Debo reconocer que no me reía tanto desde hacía mucho tiempo, tiene 40 o 50 páginas divertidísimas, y el tono general es como de un escepticismo irónico que no tiene desperdicio. Escribe con una simpleza y transparencia que se echan de menos; otra cosa bien distinta es que sus opiniones sean fundadas, sus prácticas sexuales sean más o menos compartidas u ortodoxas...pero lo cuenta sin tabúes ni pudor alguno. Eso siempre me gusta y valoro muchísimo esa espontaneidad tras la figura del escritor.

Ich wünschte, ich hätte das nie gelesen, denn die Bilder, die da in meinem Kopf entstanden sind... Houellebecq erzählt mehr über seinen "unfreiwilligen" Porno, als ich je wissen wollte (inkl. völlig verunglückter Vergleiche mit Vergewaltigungsopfern), dabei soll das ja eigentlich (auch?) irgendwie eine Entschuldigung für seine ebenfalls verunglückten Aussagen zum Islam sein. Passt nur leider alles nicht und ist einfach nur unangenehm bis widerlich.

“Piacere di offrire, gioia di ricevere”
Un libro scritto per spiegare ed ammendare a dichiarazioni che erano consentite un tempo al Bar Sport, in assenza di strumenti di registrazione, ma non certo oggi in TV o in rete, per di più se fatte da uno degli scrittori più famosi in circolazione. In ogni caso piacevole da leggere per la precisione, l’ironia e una certa mentita leggerezza visto il peso degli argomenti affrontati. Houellebecq si difende dalle accuse di islamofobia e razzismo e fin qui.. se qualcuno ha letto i suoi libri può credere che qualche considerazione troppo spinta possa essergli sfuggita. Quando invece apre il fronte pornografia e lo dipinge come il suo problema prioritario, dichiarandosi vittima di un raggiro, facendo nomi e cognomi e poi sostituendoli con i corrispettivi nomignoli (scarafaggio, troia, oca e vipera), mi è venuto il sospetto che stesse romanzando.
Non sapevo niente di questa storia, ne sto parlando senza ancora essere andato a verificare, ho comprato il libro di Houellebecq solo perché il precedente “Annientare” mi era piaciuto molto.

Stentavo a credere che avrebbe potuto raccontare di sé e di sua moglie, delle loro voglie private non tanto senza pudore, quanto senza tatto. Ho trovato di cattivo gusto mettere in vista la coppia, tant’è che avevo creduto la moglie fosse solo fittizia. Alcuni passaggi mi sono sembrati addirittura puerili, ma davvero erano due poveri ingenui i coniugi HB? Mi chiedevo inoltre come fosse possibile scrivere impunemente
..una giovane donna di nome Jini van Rooijen, che chiamerò d’ora innanzi la Troia.
(… una studentessa di filosofia, grande ammiratrice della mia opera, che aveva letto tutti i miei libri; vanitoso più o meno come la media degli scrittori, prestai fede a questa parte della menzogna)
Il libro è breve ma credo sia adatto solo a chi ha già letto in precedenza l’autore che nei panni di diarista cerca di non venire meno al suo stile, ma non sempre vi riesce.
Mi ha colpito questo passaggio:
Non mi restava che una cosa da fare, l’unica che sappia fare. Iniziai a scrivere questo racconto la notte del 31 marzo.
Mi ha ricordato un episodio della mia vita in cui anch’io mi ritrovai a fare l’unica cosa che mi sembrava di poter fare in quel momento, e fu appunto scriverne.

2 sterren omdat Michel Houellebecq zelfs in een klaagzang en een compleet overbodige verantwoording van een episode uit zijn leven een goeie pen heeft en boeiend schrijft.
In 'Een paar maanden uit mijn leven' beschrijft Houellebecq hoe hij (weer eens) aangeklaagd wordt vanuit Islamitische hoek omwille van racistische uitspraken in een interview en besteedt hij nog meer aandacht aan hoe hij - naar eigen zeggen - er in geluisd werd door het Nederlandse kunstcollectief (?) Kirac. Die laatsten maakten een pornofilm met hem en zouden de beelden verspreiden.
We vinden het gek dat Houellebecq, die er toch om bekend staat de controverse niet te schuwen, plots de behoefte voelt zich te verantwoorden en te verdedigen en daarover een boek publiceert. Eentje waarin hij zich bovendien helemaal als slachtoffer afschildert.
Een recht van antwoord in een krant, een rechtszaak en of een column: dat moet Houellebecq vooral doen en ik gun hem daarin een rechtvaardige afloop, wat die ook moge zijn.
Maar dat dit een boek werd, waardoor ik me als oeuvre-lezer aangesproken voel: nee, daar had de uitgever even het been stijf moeten houden. Daaraan hadden en hebben we geen enkele behoefte. Jammer.

Ojeojeoje, selbst ich als eingefleischter Houellebecq-Addict muss leider sagen, das ist peinlich, brrr, vielleicht war seine Mission ein Buch zu schreiben um hemmungsloses Fremdschämen beim Leser hervorzurufen, das ist das positivste was ich über dieses Konstrukt sagen kann, aua, allein dieses erbärmliche Selbstmitleid.

Me ha parecido una estafa. No es un diario, es un escrito autojustificativo y autoindulgente que un Houlle aburrido escribió en una tarde en la que se le había acabado el salchichón y el vino. Es penoso e innecesario.

Når man læser denne lille klump retorisk gylp er der ét spørgsmål, der trænger sig på: Har Houellebecq fuldstændig tabt sin sut og sine småkager?
Hvad der skulle have været et forsvar for to skandaler: henholdsvis en servering islamofobi og forfatterens optræden i en pornografisk film, fremstår i stedet som et usammenhængende vrøvleark bestående af mudderkastning, øgenavne og anprisninger af bondagesex.
Pamfletten er indrømmet ganske morsom, men det skyldes, at bogen emmer af så dårlig dømmekraft, at man kan høre Klovn-temaet, hvis man lægger øret ned til den.
Så skal du ha’ lidt cringe på din enfant terrible, så gå med den her.

Despite the fact that it is a very short and, for such a small book, quite expensive in Poland, I'm really glad that I bought it. Unfortunately, Houellebecq's pen draws me in each time, regardless of what he's writing about. Even in such a short form, his reflections were incredibly interesting, and there were moments when I stopped to ponder what the author really meant. Well, I'm a bit biased because I'm really a true fan of Houellebecq.
Pomimo tego, że to bardzo krótka i - jak na tak małą książkę - w Polsce dość droga, to naprawdę cieszę się, że ją kupiłem. Niestety pióro Houellebecqa wciąga mnie za każdym razem, i trochę nieważne jest, o czym pisze. Nawet w tak krótkiej formie jego refleksje były niezmiernie ciekawe i naprawdę momentami człowiek zatrzymywał się, aby trochę przemyśleć, co tak naprawdę autor powiedział. Cóż, jestem trochę skażony tym, że naprawdę jestem fanem Houellebecqa.
Pomimo tego, że to bardzo krótka i - jak na tak małą książkę - w Polsce dość droga, to naprawdę cieszę się, że ją kupiłem. Niestety pióro Houellebecqa wciąga mnie za każdym razem, i trochę nieważne jest, o czym pisze. Nawet w tak krótkiej formie jego refleksje były niezmiernie ciekawe i naprawdę momentami człowiek zatrzymywał się, aby trochę przemyśleć, co tak naprawdę autor powiedział. Cóż, jestem trochę skażony tym, że naprawdę jestem fanem Houellebecqa.

Lohnt maximal für die Unterscheidung plebejischer und patrizischer Kommunisten in Frankreich auf S. 53f. sowie der Aufklärung über das etwas komische Ende von „Vernichten“ (Ein Musiker hat ihm so Angst vor dem Zungenkrebs gemacht, dass er an nichts anderes mehr denken konnte). Ansonsten wohl eher ein Bändchen zur Kostendeckung für sein Verfahren gegen Kirac und den „Houellebecq-Porno“, dessen Knebelvertrag zur Gänze abgedruckt ist.

Ik ben fan van de boeken van MH maar niet van dit boek.

Het intussen beroemde gesprek met Michel Onfray in Le Front Populair, waarna er een zoveelste klacht voor islamofobie volgde, en natuurlijk die absurde geschiedenis van MH als acteur in een Nederlandse pornofilm.
Voor het eerste feit probeert hij in dit boek een rectificatie te geven, waartoe hij niet de kans gekregen heeft in het Le Front Populair zelf.
En ja... voor het tweede feit vraagt hij zich nog altijd af hoe hij in godsnaam in die situatie is terecht gekomen...
Is dat wat zijn lezers van hem verwachten?

Le pondría un 3,5. Sabe equilibrar lo humorístico y lo serio o incluso solemne en algunos puntos, pero la narración de houellebecq de su propia vida no es tan apasionante como es la que hace de sus personajes. También hay que mencionar que, al dar opiniones con una base más filosófica o teórica, muestra sus malas lecturas de algunos autores o conceptos.

Una risa este libro. Le pongo tres estrellas porque no dejan poner 2.5. El autor escribe muy bien y muy intelectual, por eso queda tan hilarante su queja y su descripción de los hechos... no sé cómo calificarlos, que le acontecieron por ser "demasiado ingenuo". El libro puede gustar a fans e interesados pero mejor leer sus obras buenas, como Las Partículas Elementales.

Ο Μισέλ είναι πληγωμένος .σε ένα απίστευτο δικαστικό δράμα που φαντάζει ακόμη και γελοίο -αφου δεν αφορά εσένα -ενας Ολλανδός ψευτοκαλλιτεχνης (κατσαρίδα) τηλεφωνεί στον μεσιέ Ουελμπέκ και του ζητά να συναντήσει μια θαυμάστρια του ( γουρουνα) η οποία διατηρεί λογαριασμό στο only fans και θέλει να τον ..γνωρίσει .ο ίδιος έπειτα από συνεννόηση με τη γυναίκα του ,αποφασίζει να βρεθούν (με όλες τις έννοιες ) μαζί της και να τους βιντεοσκοπησει ο κατσαριδοκαλλιτέχνης σε ένα πορνό βίντεο ιδιωτικής χρήσης . Κάπου εκεί υπογράφει και ένα συμφωνητικό (οh ,Michel..)που εν ολίγοις τον δένει χειροπόδαρα και τον καθιστά απόλυτα χαμένο σε δύο δικαστήρια και καταρρακωμενο ψυχολογικά ως και σήμερα για μια (μέτρια ) μαλακια (pardon).
Χαρακτηρίζεται ισλαμοφοβικος για τις δηλώσεις του ,χαρακτηρίζει τον covid μια "αδιάφορη πανδημία " . "Κατηγορεί " τον Τόμας μαν ότι παραφορτωνει τις αφηγήσεις του με προβλήματα και ιδεολογίες ,παρόλο που παραδέχεται ότι λίγους συγγραφείς θαυμάζει περισσότερο από αυτόν .βρίσκει τον απόλυτο σύμμαχο στο πρόσωπο του Ζεράρ Ντεπαρντιέ.
Όλα αυτά σε λιγότερο από 150 σελίδες που τελειώνοντας τες ,προσωπικά είπα "γιατί τόσο λίγο?" .δε ξέρω αν είναι γεροξεκουτης πλέον ,δεν ξέρω αν ασχολείται με πράγματα κατώτερα του ταλέντου και της ευφυίας του ,ξέρω ότι θα ήθελα να βγάζει ένα τέτοιο βιβλίο κάθε εξάμηνο . Ξέρω ότι είμαι ερωτευμένη με το μυαλό του και το I don't give a flying fuck mentality του . Έτσι λοιπόν :

No hay mucho que decir de este libro. Al menos nada bueno.
Lo que otros liberan en forma de comunicado público, Huellebecq lo hace en forma de ensayo. Escrito en 15 días, en él repasa sus dos polémicas de los últimos meses: una entrevista que generó la furia del Islam y su participación en una grabación pornográfica.
Houellebecq cataloga este ejercicio de 'exorcismo', en donde busca revelar su propia versión de las cosas. Sin embargo, todo parece cubierto de un cuidado legalista, en donde cada frase está pensada para no entorpecer sus juicios. También aquí se añaden reflexiones gratuitas e innecesarias sobre sus gustos, vicios y perversiones, lo que no me ayuda a despertar ningún tipo de empatía con su situación.
Aún así me quedo con la opinión de Gerard Depardieu, al decirle que la literatura de un autor siempre sobrepasa su vida personal.

Le solite critiche incomprensibili. Chi ha acquistato questa pubblicazione immaginando di aspettarsi un romanzo di MH, o qualcosa di vicino, non può lamentarsene stroncandolo senza pietà. Questo non è neanche un pamphlet ma semplicemente la lunga replica di MH alla storia del porno olandese. Ci siamo cascati tutti all’inizio dell’anno, quando il movimento KIRAC ha iniziato a diffondere trailer e interviste. Ora sappiamo come è andata per davvero. O, almeno, conosciamo la versione di MH.

Michou a rédigé ce texte en deux semaines environ. C'est ce que ça vaut. Il passe du coq à l'âne, justifie ses bourdes, attire l'attention sur un porno que personne ne veut voir alors que ça a l'effet contraire de ce qu'il recherche, c'est-à-dire le faire oublier.
On a presque l'impression que ça n'a pas vraiment été travaillé par un éditeur, et qu'il a eu le champ libre pour ses élucubrations. C'est un peu comme un manifeste sans cause, un journal intime fiévreux et sans pertinence réelle. Je m'y suis soumis parce que je suis un complétiste, mais ma chaude recommandation serait de passer votre tour.

Les politiques de droite de Houellebecq est à peine reconnaissable pour la plupart des lecteurs nord-américains, mais elle est animée par quelque chose similaire: l’humiliation. Pour de nombreux Européens de droite, cela se présente sous la forme d’une humiliation historique perçue. However, with this public diary he states his intentions and explains his recent scandals from his own point of view. Always bound to fail, such an attempt only adds fuel to the fire, which is precisely why this book is so fun to read.
Abridged and grossly distorted, the story goes as follows: After causing outrage and outcry in every direction for about half his life, the renowned writer has been tricked into a contract under the influence of prescribed drugs, ungodly amounts of wine, twenty-year-old harlots, and the general disinterest in reading contracts about his image copyright after a long day of smoking and getting intimate with dubious fans on camera.
There is a lot to learn from this booklet and the novelist who blew his chance to ever receive a Nobel once and for all. On a related note, his latest novel Anéantir of which the publication date in 2022 coincided with the latest scandal has not yet been translated into English. Evil to him who evil thinks… — In exchange for a publication deal with Farrar, Straus and Giroux, I would even translate it myself, but the fact remains that, if they had ever cared to have it translated, they would have done it by now.

October 21, 2023Nie mam pojęcia jak ocenić tę książkę, wydaje mi się, że będzie ona interesującą jedynie jako ciekawostka dla fanów Houellebecqa.
Houellebecq skupia się w niej głównie na przedstawieniu swojej strony w ostatniej porno aferze z jego udziałem. Oprócz tego na kilku stronach odnosi się też do oskarżeń o islamofobię.
Mam wrażenie, że Houellebecq wydał tę książkę tylko po to żeby wyrazić swoją frustrację, niektóre jego tłumaczenia i komentarze są dość słabe, miejscami irytujące i żenujące. Trochę jak obrażone dziecko, które z braku argumentów czepia się dosłownie wszystkiego i wyzywa swoich nieprzyjaciół od brzydali (kilka razy podkreślał brzydotę reżysera tegóż porno oraz przeciętność dziewczyn biorących w nim udział)🤷
Według mnie było też tutaj za dużo zbędnych opisów życia seksualnego autora, które nie wniosły za wiele do sprawy, a które niekoniecznie każdego interesują (np. gdzie najbardziej lubi być lizany i w jaki sposób)
Mimo wszystko lubię takie dramcie, tak więc czytałam z zainteresowaniem 😅

Comme j’aime Houellebecq sans grande condition, j’ai décidé de lire ce livre comme le témoignage circonstancié de la victime d’une odieuse agression et non comme le règlement de comptes un peu puéril et vain qu’il a pourtant tout l’air d’être.
C’est un parti pris.
Je suis empathique.
Et j’aime Houellebecq. (Je le répète.)
Cela m’a permis d’en apprécier l’érudition comme la brièveté.

Gahhhh przysięgam że uwielbiam to jak ten autor pisze, nie wiem dlaczego wsm ale rzadko się zdarza ostatnio żebym mogła 70 stron książki na raz jebnąć a z tym autorem to już drugi raz jak mi lecą strony przez palce. Też bardzo wygodne ma wydanie kocham wydawnictwo wab. Żeby zainteresować mnie taką tematyką to trzeba mieć talent

En este libro Houllebeleq nos narra los dos juicios que ha tenido en el último año. Las acusaciones del Islam de que su libro Plataforma era racista y la de la supuesta película pornografica que intentaron rodar con él. La verdad es que es como un personaje de sus libros y se mete en unos jardines colosales pero como suda ya de todo y tiene pasta para aburrir el mundo woke se las tiene tiesas con él.
En el libro con su peculiar forma irónica y pasota de contar las cosas te partes y aunque es una pena que ya no entregue material como sus primeras novelas siempre tienes algún detalle que te hace reír o pensar.
Tiene razón o no en las causas que se le atribuyen? Eso lo dejo al que haya leido el libro. Para mi un imprescindible de la literatura francesa actual.
En el libro con su peculiar forma irónica y pasota de contar las cosas te partes y aunque es una pena que ya no entregue material como sus primeras novelas siempre tienes algún detalle que te hace reír o pensar.
Tiene razón o no en las causas que se le atribuyen? Eso lo dejo al que haya leido el libro. Para mi un imprescindible de la literatura francesa actual.
