EMT Elly Finnegan instinctively jumps into the line of danger when a gunman opens fire at the Christmas parade. Despite hating the sight of blood, she acts exactly as she’s trained to do. Tactical officer Joe Kingsley is there, too and they work together to save lives. But when more shots are taken near her home, Elly and Joe realize the danger is far from over.
Joe promises Elly’s brother Rhy that he’ll protect the youngest Finnegan sibling with his life. But as danger stalks them, it proves a difficult promise to keep. This shooter wasn’t your typical rage filled young man—this guy had a cold and deadly purpose. And it was up to Joe and the rest of the tactical team to uncover his motive before he strikes again. Can Joe keep Elly safe so she can celebrate her Christmas family reunion with the Callahans?
Don’t miss this exciting conclusion to the Finnegan First Responder series!
And introduction to the next one! But you have to read all through this one to find out! Elly is working as an EMT at the Christmas parade when she bumps into a man who gives her the creeps. Joe, from Rhy's tactical team, is there also, when the creepy guy starts firing on the crowd. The gunman knows that Elly saw him so goes after her immediately. Joe is there to keep her safe, but who will protect him from his feelings for her?
The pace is breakneck and the tone is intense with an action and character oriented storyline that has a few kisses only. The characters are vivid and engaging with the former main characters from many previous books in here. The Christian values are a part of the story, but not the main focus of it. This is the 3rd series that Laura Scott has set in Milwaukee, and they all intertwine, especially the Callahan and Finnegans. Start with the Top SWAT (or something like that) series in order, then Callahan Confidential in order and then the Finnegan First Responders in order! And look forward to the next one, like I am. Enjoy this story that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish!
A very exciting conclusion to the series Scott has written. This last book features the youngest Finnegan, Elly. She finally has a first responder job as an EMT. With the holiday season approaching she has just begun working on the ambulance. She and her partner are assigned to cover the Milwaukee Christmas parade. All seems pleasant and exciting as she waits by the ambulance for the parade to begin. This suspense filled story is excellent. I will miss hearing of the family' s adventures and growth with children.
I enjoyed reading Elly and Joe's story. Lots of twists and turns that had you wondering how it would all work out. There was one person I suspected all along, but it turned out someone they knew was the real suspect. It did seem a little unreal how the person seemed to find them no matter what they did and spent so much time chasing them. Interesting how Joe and Elly both liked each other, but never said anything to each other until near the end. I liked how the family looked after each other, even though the brothers seemed to be a little too protective of their youngest sister.
This is a stand alone read but once you start, you have to read all the books! I love the Finnegan family and when you read this book, you feel like a part of their family. This story has danger and Christmas rolled into one. If you don't know who to trust, you turn to family. That's what happens when the younest Finnegan sees the face of a bomber just before he attacks a Christmas parade. Follow the twists and turns to see if you can discover the killer.
This series has been me of the best I’ve read! Hard to imagine how they can all be great books on their own as well as together, but they are. This last book was a great book to end the series with. The characters are all personable and even the women are first responders in some of the stories. Great read for those who enjoy first responders, suspense, intrigue, and romance!
I enjoyed Elly & Joe's story a lot. Lots of twists & turns keeping me on the edge much of the time. There were a couple unanswered questions at the end that bothers me and I felt Elly was awfully pushy (romantically) through a very tense and dangerous time. Overall a good story tho.
This book has so many wonderful characters. Elly’s family is loaded with first responders. She’s working as an EMT when she’s involved in a mass shooting.
Her life becomes a blur as she has to be protected from the shooter! There are so many twists and turns.
It’s extremely suspenseful and you’ll have many heart pounding moments as you read through the book. Don’t miss it!
Another great story in the Finnegan family saga. Elly has such a strong faith and she lives it out, which challenges Joes perspective on God. How we too should live our Christian lives in a way that challenges those we are with. The plot is similar to previous ones in the series but that doesn’t distract from it. It can be read alone or as the grand finale.
I loved this book, but who as an EMT job when you can't stand the sight of blood? Poor Elly, the youngest of her family who all went into the service field in one way or another. She bumped into a man wearing a long trench coat with dark evil eyes. It all started when she stared at the Christmas parade, but then gun shots opened up, and suddenly the shooter was gunning for her!
The whole series is awesome. I enjoyed this one because of the family that sticks together and relies on God. They are a family that sticks together and takes care of each other.
I loved everything about this book. I love the whole family of characters and that they live out their Christian faith. There was so much suspense and action right through to the end. And of course the happy ending was wonderful. I loved this series!
Absolutely wonderful, exciting series. I love books about families protecting and loving each. I have already read the Callahan book but I'm going to read them again now. Thank you for your wonderful storytelling. Joyce
I haven’t read such an exciting and spell binding story of this genre for some time. A very gifted author with skill to create a tale with a building of terror, attraction and fear of being the next target for a deranged killer. It is very hard to put down.
Elly and Joe had quite a bit of excitement in this romantic suspense. I loved all the great characters, especially in her family. This is a really great read.
In CHRISTMAS CRISIS, Ellie Finnegan is working at a Christmas parade in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when a gunman begins shooting, killing ten people. Ellie and one police officer are the only ones to witness the shooting up close enough to identify the gunman, and when he gets away, he immediately begins coming after them to try to eliminate them The Finnegans First Responders is a Christian Romantic Suspense series I’ve been buddy reading with my mom after she found it on BookBub and we’ve enjoyed it from start to finish. These books are a really good length for romantic suspense at right around 6 hours on audiobook, with sharp pacing and no slow spots. 4/5 stars.
I enjoyed Elly and Joe's story. A gunman starts shooting people at a Christmas parade where EMT Elly Finnegan is. She saw the gunman up close prior to the shooting. Now he's after her. Officer Joe Kingsley is staying by Elly and protecting her. Joe is hesitant to have a relationship with Elly as she is the youngest Finnegan sister and his boss is Elly's oldest brother Rhy. Elly provided some wonderful insight as she and Joe look into discovering who the killer is. Christmas Crisis kept me turning the pages, wanting to find out who the gunman was. It had twists and turns and at the end of the story is where we learn how the Finnegans and Callahans are related to each other as cousins.
