Snowed In with the Scrooge

Rate this book
Ashton

This single mama needs a break before Santa shows up.
A quick, kid-free getaway to the ski town of Spruce Ridge before the holidays is perfect.
Well, almost perfect. Arguing with a handsome, grumpy stranger over the last frozen pizza at the general store isn’t the best way to start a vacay. Neither is an impending blizzard rolling up the mountain, but it’ll be fine. I’ve got wine, the pizza, and a hot tub.
Until I accidentally lock myself out of the rental cabin.
Wearing only my bikini.
In a blizzard.
Not ideal.
My only option is trudging to the cabin next door and asking for help.
And of course, the neighbor happens to be Mr. Hottie Grumpypants from the general store —the same guy I kinda, sorta managed to grab the last frozen pizza from— and he’s still salty about it.
When the power goes out, we’re trapped together in his cabin with only the fire for warmth. Sparks fly, things quickly heating up between us, and now Christmas is looking a whole lot merrier.
But is this self-proclaimed workaholic scrooge interested in building a life with a sunshiny single mom like me, or will the holiday magic vanish come January?

5-star Review Snowed in With Scrooge Kara Kendrick

I love any story that is centred around Christmas and as I enjoy Kara Kendrick’s writing style, and having read the blurb, I could not wait to read Christmas Cupid.

This is Ashton James and Jack Pearson‘s story set in Spruce Ridge Ski Resort and it kept me entertained from the first to the last chapter. Neither were looking for love, but it is the season for Christmas miracles, or is it? Their meet cute had me laughing; in fact, I spent quite a lot of time laughing whilst reading and smiling.

Sparks fly and what starts out as a fling, morphs into more. However Ashton is a single mum of two and has to be careful and Jack is a workaholic. Can they make a relationship work? One click and find out.

The banter was witty, the characters engaging and all in all this made for a wonderful read that certainly got me in the mood for the holidays.

Ashton is a single mother. Her brother and future sister in law send her on vacation to a cabin in Spruce Ridge for a week. Her ex Gabriel has the kids and she gets to hopefully relax before the holiday craziness begins. She stops at the grocery store for wine and supplies before heading up the mountain.

Jack Pearson has a cabin in Spruce Ridge. He decides to go up there for a week to get away from the office. He will still work on his pending mergers but will get to relax while going through paperwork. Because of the impending snow storm, his grocery delivery was cancelled so he stops at the grocery store for some supplies. He ends up fighting Ashton for the last frozen pizza and loses it when they do rock, paper, scissors. He likes her curves and her butt however he is not interested in anyone. He was recently dumped by his girlfriend and decided he is better off completely single.

Ashton has to punch in a complicated code to get into the rental cabin. She luckily has it saved on her phone because she knows she won’t remember it. She decides to use the hot tub on the deck before the storm hits. She changes into her bikini, grab a towel, a glass of wine and her phone and heads outside. She goes in the house for a second glass of wine but forgets her phone on the counter when she goes back out to the deck. She can’t remember the code but sees a light in the cabin next door. She pulls the towel around her and walks over there hoping they can help her.

What happens when it is Jack staying in the cabin next door? Will Ashton be able to get back into her cabin before the storm hits or is she stuck with Jack? Can Jack handle bubbly Ashton? Can Ashton handle Jack, the grumpy Scrooge?

Loved single mom Ashton.

I love holiday novellas because I get the warm and tingly feelings and can read so many and keep the holiday spirit flowing. This is a funny and real story that I couldn’t stop laughing through. Also, Kara has written the best Elf scenes in two of her holiday novellas and this is the second one. The other book, My Charming Holidate, which these characters come from has my all time favorite Elf seen EVER. You do not need to read that book to read

I loved this book. I could relate to Ashton needing a break away from kids. (I love mine but yikes!) Although Ash is a divorced mom or two and I am not, I related to her need to get away and just be Ash. Not someone’s mom. The text messages from her ex are hilarious, because I imagine that is what would be close to what actually is texted back and forth about “the elf.” It’s also comical because my husband and I throughout the years have texted back and forth about “the elf” similarly.

Jack is the grumpy scrooge in this story. He works hard and doesn’t take time for himself. I love that their meet-cute was over a frozen pizza in the general store. He’s a rich guy and all he wants is a frozen pizza. I get it. Their story gets even better and I laughed when Ash locked herself out of her rental and walked in the snow to his house. Not knowing it’s his house of course. It’s a funny quick read that had me feeling all the feels and left me warm and fuzzy in the holiday spirit.

This was a holiday grumpy/sunshine romance.

I adore these quick read OTT romances. This book has realistic and relatable characters along with a sweet and steamy story. Would recommend!

Ashton James is a single mom with two kids. Her bestie Stella and brother Wes gave her a week vacation at Spruce Ridge ski resort. She is flirty, fun and carefree.

Jack Pearson is a workaholic in mergers and acquisitions. He is a lie wolf. He owns a cabin at the ski resort.

They meet at the general store when they both grab the last box of frozen pizza. They decide who gets it by playing rock, paper, scissors. With a big snowstorm forecasted they hurry to get to their cabins before it hits. Ashton decides to use the hot tub and to relax with some wine - she forgets her phone inside which has the door code on it. Seeing a light in the cabin next door she runs over for help and Jack opens the door. As they are eating dinner the power goes out. She stays the night and they hook up. Next morning he gets an emergency call from work. She goes back to her cabin and finds a spare key. He comes over to apologize and they talk about having a relationship. Back home she introduced him to her kids and they all get their HEA.

Snowed in with the Scrooge is a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, opposites-attract, grumpy-sunshine, single mom gets her hunky businessman Christmas romance. Ashton is an optimistic, artistic, curvy single mom who is vacationing at a cabin while her kids are with her ex. Jack is a hunky, grumpy bachelor and businessman taking a break at his cabin. The two initially meet in the grocery store and fight over a pizza and part ways disgruntled, although attracted to each other. When Ashton gets to her cabin, she goes in the hot tub and then gets locked outside in her bikini in the snow. She walks to the neighbors' cabin, and it happens to be Jack's. Initially, it's awkward, but as they get to know each other and then lose power, sparks fly, and it gets steamy! But what happens when vacation is over? Is it a fling, or can it be more? I loved this couple. They had amazing chemistry and balanced each other so well. After a bit of drama, we also get a happy ending. This was a cute and spicy Christmas read.

It all starts with a pizza and a blizzard. Ashton is a single mom who bears most of the burden when it comes to raising her two kids. She is gifted a vacation by her brother and best friend. While picking up supplies on her way to her vacation rental she encounters a grump who grabs the last frozen pizza as she does.
Jack is a workaholic, grump and recently single. He is taking a much needed retreat at his cabin.
Ashton locks herself out of the cabin and goes to the neighbors who happens to be the pizza thief.
This was a cute story. They are complete opposites but have immediate attraction between the two of them. Jack has always been about his work and never put anything before it. Can these two make it work or is it just a weekend fling during a blizzard? Can Ashton finally find someone who puts her needs before their own? Great short read.

A funny, steamy novella that gives us two complete opposites that have an instant attraction but also seem to hate one another. Ms. Kendrick delivers a storyline that sees Ashton and Jack meeting over a frozen pizza on the way to their perspective cabins in Spruce Ridge. Ashton is a single mom looking for a mini-vacation away from the needs of being a mom. Jack is a businessman, who comes across as a recluse and a grump and is on his way to his cabin, to get away from it all. A game of rock, paper, scissors and getting locked out of her cabin, leads to some hot and steamy times together. Will their time together lead to something more after being snowed in together? Can Ashton's sunshine get the scrooge-like grump to change his outlook on life and love?
Grab this funny and gripping novella and enjoy Ashton and Jack's love story.

Kara Kendrick kicks off Last Chapter Press' multi-author All the Jingle Ladies series with the entertaining and super steamy Snowed In With the Scrooge. Businessman Jack and single mom Ashton first meet when they end up fighting over the last frozen pizza at the general store on the way to their respective cabins. When Ashton accidentally gets locked out of her rental - in just a bikini and towel - she seeks refuge at the cabin next door, inhabited by her general store rival. When a snow storm hits along with a power outage, and they are suddenly stuck together, will Jack's grumpy nature be any match for Ashton's sunshine? A wonderfully entertaining sweet and steamy holiday romance.

Loved the story of Ashton and Jack. Wonderful short read.

Ashton was finally getting a few days away. Only when she shows up in Spruce Ridge, she gets more than she bargains for.

Jack's decided to go to his vacation home in Spruce Ridge. So when he shows up at the small store, he gets a surprise with a pretty lady and rock, paper, scissors for a pizza.

Ashton is trying to stay away from men who don't want a relationship. Jack is to busy for any kind of relationship. So when they decide for a few nights, they end up realizing they both want forever.

Looking for the sparkle in a situation

Snowed In with the Scrooge by Kara Kendrick is the first book in the multi-author All the Jingle Ladies series. I enjoyed this quick and snow melting romance which delivers with an overworked single mother, Ashton Jones, finally getting a few days away only to be locked out. She meets her more than sexy but also very grumpy neighbor, Jack Pearson, when she knocks on his door to see if he has a key. There is not a lot of drama, other than her azzhat of an ex, and then the issue with Snowball missing. This is a nice start to the series that I am looking forward to reading to start getting into the holiday season.

Grumpy sunshine, instalust to instalove, forced proximity steamy romance.
Ashton is finally getting a vacation away from things for a week. Shes a single mom with two kids who’s ex is anything but helpful.
Jack is off for a few days and headed to spruce ridge. They meet over the last pizza in the store and then meet again when Ashton locks herself out of her cabin. Thankfully Jack is nice enough not to let her freeze to death outside but things quickly turn steamy.
I loved that the author included the little epilogue at the end.

This is book 1 of All the Jingles Ladies. I loved how this started with these two at the grocery fighting over a pizza and ended being neighbors and then spending together during the snowstorm. Jack and Ashton become more than stranded with each other during a snowstorm and Ashton is not sure if she wants more especially what happened with her ex-husband. Plus, Jack is not sure if he would ever melt his heart, but it happens, and the ending is just amazing. I loved the characters.

I loved this book! It is precisely what I needed to get a break from everyday drama. Ashton and Jack are strangers who meet “thanks” to a snowstorm. That leads to a forced proximity situation, which allows them to learn a lot about each other and themselves. The book is short, yet it gives enough backstory to get invested and care about the characters. It’s not overly festive but has this cozy, sexy, warm vibe, making it a perfect holiday novella.

Love a good Christmas love story

Darn this was a good snowed in love story. I've been in a lot of blizzards, snowed in but I was the workaholic. Never had as much fun as Jack and Ashton (lol). Jack was definitely a workaholic and loved his job but after getting snowed in with Aston, he felt a change in his soul. I enjoyed the back and forth banter they had. Didn't so much care for her ex but that's why he's her ex, who does like him. It's a good book. Written by Cindy :)

A bit of bad luck turns out to be anything but bad. When Ashton gets locked out of her rental house, she turns to the grumpy man next door who she's already had a run in with at the grocery store. But being wet in a swimsuit and towel in freezing temps is enough to thaw even Jack's grumpy demeanor. Sparks fly and all ends happily. A quick and fun holiday read.

A second chance?

Jack and Ashton get a second chance to make that first impression and it is definitely better than the first one! Ashton also gets her second chance at love, and Jack needs his second chance to sweep Ashton off her feet after he messes up....again! He is grouchy, grumpy, a workaholic and a bit of an ass...but he owns it completely and apologises profusely...which is actually really sweet!

I loved this short, fun, holiday romance. Ashton gets locked out of her rental cabin so she goes next door and finds a warm, place to ride out the blizzard and love at the same time. From the rock, paper, scissors game and the fun storyline to the sparks flying in the middle of a blizzard, this is a great start to the multi-author All the Jingle Ladies series. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this fun series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

....

This single mama needed a well earned break before the holidays. What she didn't expect was to get snowed in with the grumpy handsome stranger that wanted her pizza 🤣

Such a shory & sweet romance, that makes you chuckle but also gives you that warm fuzzy feeling all over.
Ashton & Jack's second chance meeting is definitely better than the first.
They both needed this second chance to finally find what they've been missing in their lives.

Ashton and Jack start off on the wrong foot by fighting over a cheese pizza but when Ashton gets locked out of her rental, Jack comes to her rescue. A fast paced single mom story with a strong independent mom and a sexy workaholic. The more time Jack and Ashton spend together their connection grows and Jack realizes that maybe there’s more to life than just work. I received an arc copy of this book.

“Oh, is Santa here already?”

Those darn electronic locks will get a girl every time. And why can’t I luck out and have a handsome grump next door willing to let me crash with him during a blizzard? Snowed in with the Scrooge is a playful quick read with a little bit of sass, a little sweet and plenty of spice!
