"Rose-Coloured Love" is the story of Devan and Ryan.

Another abrupt ending..Noooo.

The story details the life of our heroine, a writer, who is sailing through her days like a dead body. She has lost all passion for her work due to an unexpected betrayal, and now has become a figment of her past self. Things change, when our hero, her editor tracks her down to her hiding place, and refuses to let her wallow in self pity. Instead, he makes attempts to pull her out and show her that life exists beyond pain and disappointment.

Sad and depressed heroine, determined hero, loads of ex trauma and an out-of-nowhere ending.
I wish the heroine's wasn't so hung up on her past, and more time was spent developing the romance between her and the hero.

Safe for me/SWE for some

Re Rose-Coloured Love AC brings us another couple that is really just visiting HPlandia. The h is a best selling author facing serious depression and total burn out. The H is her editor, who has previously only communicated with her via letter, but after not hearing from her for a year when she sent a goodbye note, he decides to track her down and make sure she is okay.

The story starts with the H tracking the h down to her sister's house in Maine. The h has been there for a year and is helping her sister with her children. The h initially lies about who she is and then dumps a bucket of water on the H when he refuses to leave. When her sister returns from her errands, she invites the H to stay in an effort to help her sister get out of her funk.

The h is very resistant, but the H goes on and on about her wonderful writing and emotive abilities. We get a big look at family life with rambunctious children as they "scalp" the h and dump buckets of water on her while playing. The H is determined to make the h live again, she seems severely depressed and hopeless and strongly addicted to caffeine with a borderline flirtation with alcohol. The H removes the caffeine and gadgets for brewing caffeine from the house as well as the alcohol.

(Apparently this H thinks that caffeine is the root of all evil, while others of us wish we could get it mainlined intravenously to jump start very long days. This H definitely wouldn't approve of Starbucks Komodo Dragon Blend. )

There are h crying jags interspersed with children's antics - such as losing a new kite when it escapes on the bumper of a car and eventually the true reason for the h's burnout emerges. She was living with a man for three years, he worked for the same paper and then the h became a best selling novelist. He came home one day and told her it was over and then packed up his stuff and left after telling the h she did not have time for him anymore.

The h is utterly devastated and can't figure out where she went wrong. She always did her best to make time for the man, although it does contradict her descriptions of writing for 14 hour stretches at a time when she is engrossed in producing a new book.

The sister and the children had no complaints about the h's attention, but they also lived in Maine while the h was NYC based. Anyhow, the h never asks or confronts the ex for an explanation, she seemed to accept that he was gone and that was that -even though she knew where he worked, etc. If he said it was over, it was over in her mind - no further contact needed.

Except she has been practically catatonic for over a year, she claims the whole situation made her realize that love and relationships were a big lie. Which doesn't include her close relationship with her sister and her children, but this HPlandia so just roll with it.

The H points out that her ex probably couldn't handle her success when he was a writer himself and not getting on past his paper job. The h realizes that this is probably the case and since she and the H are now lovers, she seems content to let that reasoning stand.

Then the H asks her to move in with him back in NYC. She has to ponder it for a few days, but eventually decides to go with the H and then there is a sad moment when the kids realize she is moving out. The kids get pacified and after one final locking them in a wardrobe for revenge, she goes to the H's home in NYC.

They are uncertain of each other at first and the h isn't sure she can write again, but the H doesn't care, cause he makes enough to support them both - plus the h already has a pretty decent bank balance herself. True love is declared and blissful marriage is proposed for a sweet HEA.

This one is nice, but the h's continual emotional upheaval was really worrisome - AC spends a LOT of time on her mental state, and I felt the h needed a serious stay in therapy for the issues she was having. The whole course of the book takes place in a week and while AC writes well enough to make the love seem real, I do wonder that the h is the type who needs a permanent romantic relationship with a man to function. AC addresses that a little bit, but there were still doubts in my mind.

The H in this one is excellently beta and caretaking, which also makes me question the validity of the relationship as a strong romance. Still the HEA was sweet, the plot moppet antics were cute - but these people were still just visiting HPlandia.

meh....heroine had way too many hangups for me. The author described a woman in the midst of a nervous breakdown and some very serious mental health issues. The relationship and physical attraction, seemed out of place and so trite relative to her other issues.

I found myself screaming get this woman some help.

4 1/2 Stars! ~ When a young novelist is shaken to her core by a shattered love affair, she retreats to her sister's home in Maine, only to have her very determined editor track her down. Once Ryan finds Devon, he's astounded to find the woman he's admired for years, emotionally battered and determined to hide her head and heart in the sand. Devon doesn't appreciate the emotions Ryan forces her to feel, especially the ones that are making her feel alive again.

This is another emotionally intense love story. Their's is a volatile relationship, both incredibly passionate and stubborn to have their own way. Though only together a mere week, Ms. Carpenter gives us all the reasons to believe theirs will be a love to last.

The (apparently rich?) editor of a famous author comes out to find her when she goes suddenly silent, not responding to any of his attempts to contact her. She tries to reject his attempts to help her, but fortunately, she's staying with her sister, who invites him to stay as well.

I liked that the hero wasn't a billionaire, and that he was very caring, and all that, but the resolution came about extremely suddenly, considering that the heroine seems like she has serious mental issues.

This was a both a very cute and very angsty read. The heroine definitely needed therapy, in order to separate her self-worth from her ability to write, and to believe in her ability to love again. Her antics with her niece and nephew were so cute and hilarious, as well as some of the banter between her and the hero. The hero was so patient and persistent in trying to help her heal, though it did seem a bit too soon for them to start a relationship. The story did end abruptly:

3 stars, plus 1 star for the cute antics.
