Every Duke Has His Day
Michael Blumley, Duke of Loriton (age 28), is viewed as an eccentric by his peers in the ton. He does his duty, of course, but his interest—and talent—lies in the science of electricity. He has no interest in what the frivolities of Society. When his favorite aunt, Mary, Lady Harris, leaves her precious, well-behaved black poodle, Lancelot in his care while she travels his life takes an interesting turn.
Elizabeth “Bitsy” Dockering (age 19), third daughter of a viscount, is enjoying her second Season in London. She is a Diamond of the Season and is adored by all—and especially by her precious black poodle, Galahad. To everyone else, however, Galahad is a demon dog. So much so that Peter Cordray, one of Bitsy’s most insistent beaux and a particular victim of Galahad’s bad manners and sharp teeth, has hired a petty thief (Jimmy Bly) to steal the dog, clearing the way for his suit.
When the two dogs and their “people” meet in the park, chaos ensues and unknowingly results in a dog swap. Which means Lancelot is kidnapped instead of Galahad! But when both dogs go missing in an ever thickening dognapping plot, Michael and Elizabeth end up coming together to scour London, recover Lancelot and Galahad all while falling in love.

In the way that some people are born knowing they want to be astronauts or cellists, Suzanne always knew she wanted to be a writer. Early dreams of becoming a zoologist and writing true stories about her adventures in Africa were crushed, however, after she viewed a television special about the world’s most poisonous snakes; she did NOT want to write about how she’d been bitten and lost a limb to a cobra. Thankfully at the same time the movie “Star Wars” premiered, and she realized that she could make up adventures and write about them, and not be eaten by deadly predators while doing research.
She dabbled in romantic fantasy writing for a year or two after graduating with a degree in English from the University of California, Irvine, until her affection for traditional Regency romances led her to write one for fun. After several encouraging rejections from publishers, she snared the interest of the world’s best and most patient literary agent, who advised her to revise the manuscript. This ultimately led to the publication of her first book, The Black Duke’s Prize, from Avon Books in the Spring of 1995. A second Regency, Angel’s Devil, followed that Fall.
When Avon folded its traditional Regency line, Suzanne was encouraged to try her hand at historical romance. As she remained keenly interested in England’s Regency period, she decided to attempt another manuscript set in that time. Lady Rogue hit the shelves in March of 1997. She wrote a total of 29 books for Avon, including two anthologies and a five-part contemporary series which received a pair of starred reviews from Publishers Weekly. One of those books, Twice the Temptation, was named one of the five best romances of the year by PW in 2007.
In 2002 her well-known love of all things “Star Wars” led to an invitation to appear on the E! channel in the television special “Star Wars: The Force Is Back”, where she discussed the romance in the movie series and ended up with more air time than George Lucas.
In 2010 Suzanne left Avon Books for St. Martin’s Press, where she continues to pen historical romance novels. Her 31st book, Taming an Impossible Rogue, is set to arrive in March 2012.
Suzanne is known for her humorous characters, sexy bad boys, and whip-sharp, witty dialogue. She currently resides in Placentia, California with several hundred guppies and various other tropical fish, and handful of very loud, spinach-loving finches. Michael Bromsley, Duke of Woriton, just wants some damned peace. He wants to conduct scientific research, liaise with his peers, and absolutely notwaste time with idiots spend his time at parties with the ton. He’s a mood. Swap books for science, and he’s me.
Elizabeth Dockering, the daughter of Visount Mardensea, is the ton’s diamond. She charms any room she walks into, and she is entertaining suitors for her hand. Practically his Grace’s opposite in every way.
An especially ardent suitor, Peter Cordray, can’t get along with Elizabeth’s dog, Galahad, and hires someone to abduct him. Imagine the entitlement. Because of some hijinks, the dognapper mistakenly takes Michael Bromsley’s dog, Lancelot. What follows is an entertaining story told from many perspectives, Elizabeth and Michael’s as they search for the missing dog(s), Peter’s as he plots & schemes for Elizabeth’s hand, and the dognapper’s (Jimmy Bly) as he cares for the animals.
As Elizabeth and Michael get to know one another, they see past their differences in how they spend their time and find that they truly enjoy one another’s company. But is that enough to be the strong foundation for a life spent together?

High level: Really fun regency cozy mystery. The part of me that loves A Brazen Curiosity by Lynn Messina loves this book. There’s no spice but a lot of truly tender moments.
I feel like we got a real character arc for Michael, but not for Elizabeth. Usually it’s the opposite, where the main male character just broods and falls in love, and the woman has to overcome a deep trauma or societal pressures or w/e. Elizabeth is also a fully-formed character, but her main issues are losing her dog & forming a friendship with the unpopular duke.
I would recommend this if you like fun regency cozies with a dramatic unveiling at the end. I wouldn’t pick this up if you’re looking for a steamy romance.

A historical rom-com which was silly but fun. Bonus: there are dogs involved!
This is described as a retelling of Bringing Up Baby. Two identical dogs get switched by mistake, and one (the wrong one) is dognapped. The dogs are Identical only in looks, but the exact opposite in personality. One is serious and reserved while the other is an extroverted dynamo of energy. Just like the main characters, who join forces to find the missing dog. Hilarity ensues (and no dogs are harmed).
A fun historical rom-com, excellent on audio.

With his mind on electricity and his hydrogen experiments, the first walk with the dog ended up with him and his dog in a pond.

Her black poodle Galahad goes with her on most social outings but he’s not quite as friendly and ends up getting kidnapped just so one man could get closer to Bitsy. Except Galahad and Lancelot had been switched in the pond incident causing chaos all around.
Enjoyable with some amusing incidents between Michale and Bitsy as well as with secondary kidnapper Jimmy Bly as he cares for the two poodles. Michael turns out to be quite the hero as he’s able to draw more out of Bitsy than social nonsense.

Michael is a duke and an absent-minded professor who spends most of his day in his lab doing chemical experiments. He might be mostly a shut-in, but he loves his aunt, so when she asks him to watch her black poodle for her, he agrees. After all, Lancelot is a well-behaved pup who's never caused anyone much trouble. What could go wrong? Since this is a screwball comedy, everything.
On Michael's first outing with Lancelot to the park, popular debutante Elizabeth loses control of her own black poodle, Galahad, and the two get mixed up and taken home to the wrong house. Michael, who might be absent-minded but is definitely observant, immediately notices that something is wrong and goes out - to a ball! - to meet Elizabeth and get her to switch the dogs back. (Of course he asks her during a waltz in front of the entire ton.) Unbeknownst to both of them, one of Elizabeth's most ardent suitors has chosen that night to kidnap Galahad - and Lancelot gets taken instead.
The rest of the book is a comedy of errors as Elizabeth and Michael join forces to find the missing canine. Their rapprochement is a delight to read. The villain is perfectly calibrated for the reader to hate: he's not exactly evil, but he's self-centeredly cruel. With a secondary romance, matchmaking servants, and slow but authentic character evolution from both Michael and Elizabeth, this is really a pitch-perfect screwball comedy/traditional Regency romance.

How adorable!!!
This was a very enjoyable historical romance, with two really great characters.
I have read Suzanne Enoch in the past and knew I would enjoy her writing, but this story was still much more than what I expected.
It had everything I enjoy about a historical romance, a Duke who was interested in science more than anything and a heroine who was the diamond of the season but also more. Their story was based an opposites attract, a flirtatious and charming heroine, and a grumpy grump.
But when they met, the sparks flew.
She found someone that actually challenged her in wit and intellect, and he found in her someone who enjoyed his company, was interested in what he had to say and saw him differently than the rest of society.
I also found her attitude towards herself being considered the diamond of the season refreshingly honest, candid and modern in a way. And he was the best kind of grump, and surprisingly wasn't too wrapped around her finger. There was certainly a give and take.
In the end they came together because of missing poodles, but every moment they spend together it became more and more palpable how much they liked each other.
I really loved the overall feel of the novel. Light, fun, adorable. And it's a must read for anyone who loves historical romance. You won't be disappointed in the story or characters.

This turned out to be more fun than I expected...

Michael Bromley, the Duke of Woriton, despises social events and prefers spending his time at home in his studio delving into the science of chemistry, while Elizabeth, the most popular girl of the Season, loves going to balls and dancing.
Michael and Bitsy meet by chance at Hyde Park when their poodles, Galahad and Lancelot, get tangled up. This leads to a dip in the Serpentine, and an accidental dog swap where Lancelot is taken instead of Galahad. Michael, determined to find his dog, reluctantly agrees to let Flighty Bitsy help him. However, he soon realizes that she has more sense than he initially thought, and a sharp tongue to match.
Michael and Bitsy may seem like oil and water at first, with nothing in common on the surface. However, as they spend time together, they start to enjoy each other's company. It's wonderful to see their characters grow and their chemistry develop over the course of the story, leading to them falling in love.
The characters are well-written and charming, with plenty of humor and heartwarming romance. I especially enjoyed following the multiple POVs, including that of the villain. Jimmy the Dog Thief's redemption and growth into a good man, as well as his romance with Sally, were lovely touches, and of course, I loved the poodles. Entertaining Read! perfect for dog lovers, Highly Recommended!

Talk about a fun Regency rom-com. So much fun! It begins with a grumpy scientist Duke that takes his aunt’s poodle for a walk when they have a run in with a sunshine Lady with her poodle. Such a cute meet cute it was. Then there’s accidental dog swapping, dognapping, an unlikely partnership, & a villain. I laughed & smiled throughout this book. It was definitely a different regency romance, so don’t expect anything to be typical of that genre. It’s also a clean romance, zero steam, but the romance was perfect. I seriously loved every moment & will be buying myself a copy when it gets published.

4.5 rounded up. This is my first read from Enoch, but I loved how easy it was to jump right into it. I really enjoyed how Duke Woriton was a nice grumpy MMC and that Elizabeth was a great FMC who was both adorable and it made sense why she was such a popular gal. Their meet cute definitely gave me 101 Dalmatians vibes which I ADORED, and I loved that this had so many different POVs to follow! Jimmy and Sally's romance as the secondary couple really stole the show for me, and the dognapping shenanigans was a fun plot to navigate through. Honestly, the chemistry between Bitsy and Michael wasn't as strong to me as Jimmy/Sally, but it was still great! On top of that, I actually loved Peter as a villain and it is kind of a shame he was the way he was as his dedication to try to win over Bitsy was definitely...a bit admirable, tbh. 😂 In another world, he could've stolen my heart -- particularly if he wasn't so adamant about his hatred towards dogs. Perfect for dog lovers and loved this was a relatively quick read! Definitely looking forward to trying another title from this author!

Good book, worth reading. There were three plot threads: 1) Poodles periodically missing and appearing like a shell game. Peek-a-boodle? 2) A slow burn romance between Michael, the Duke of Woriton and Lady Elizabeth. Um, dial that down to a slow simmer. 3) A true slow burn romance between Jimmy Bly and Sally Pangle.
What did the stories have in common? A lack of depth. The dogs had no personality. They had a chance to show off a few tricks--if you blinked you missed them. Mostly they growled, whined, and ate. We never learned any backstory about the two couples.
There were hopeful moments between Michael and Elizabeth. He changed because of her, and she changed because of him. There was a romantic metaphor about sparks flying between them, but alas, instead of flourishing it fizzled. If only there was more romance leading up to the inevitable, abrupt HEA. Of the three threads, I enjoyed Jimmy and Sally's relationship the most. Jimmy had some growing up to do, so not a smooth road to a HEA. Ultimately, it was nicely done.

Every Duke Has His Day was a delightful silly romance with some mystery to make it complete. It was a light read with a satisfactory narrative by Mark Meadows. The audiobook made me laugh out loud and recommend to anyone who loves historical romance.

i absolutely loved this from beginning to end. it was adorable, funny, and fast paced. the humor had me giggling and the primary romance was a swoony slow burn. i love how michael and elizabeth became friends first trying to figure out the mystery of who stole their dogs. the romance snuck up on them and it was just the sweetest revelation. i also loved the secondary romance and the redemption arc for jimmy bly. lord peter got exactly what he deserved — SO satisfying! the narration was fantastic and i highly recommend this if you’re looking for a book with all the feels plus plenty of laughter along the way.

In the scuffle to right a wrong, Galahad and Lancelot are mistakenly switched. Before they can be returned to their guardians, a dognapping ruins everything. About the Characters: This sweet story was filled with fantastic characters, from the leads to the precious pets. They were extremely colorful and highly amusing . They added a humor and charm to the story. Each person was crafted so well that it was easy to either love them or dislike them.

This book is just simply adorable! It's a clean romance, and it seriously gives off Disney vibes. At times, it reminded me of 101 Dalmatians.
I love Michael and Elizabeth's banter and all of their hijinks as they look into the disappearance of their poodles. I really enjoyed their sarcastic back and forth interactions. It was also nice to get the POV of some of the side characters, especially the villain.
Overall, every Duke Has His Day is a super cute, fast-paced romcom that I highly recommend if you're in the mood for something light and fluffy.

Lo que me hace reír con sus historias estrambóticas no es ni medio normal. Y aunque no haya ni una escena demasiado picante y sea clean romance, se ha vuelto una de mis series favoritas de los últimos tiempos.
El primero ya me fascinó, aunque a partir de la mitad pinchara un poco, pero el segundo, con todo el tema de los caniches, me ha gustado.
Muy bueno, bien desarrollado y con un final un poco sencillo —todo termina siempre demasiado rápido— pero que me ha hecho acabarlo con una sonrisa.

This was the first historical romance book I have read maybe ever. I have read historical fiction but nor romance, and it was exactly as I expected. Taking walks down the promenade. Having a diamond of the season. The gossip and scandal. It reminded me of a less steamy Bridgerton with a bit more grumpy to sunshine thrown in the mix.
Meet Michael, Duke of Loriton, whose main and only focus is his science. He doesn’t give two hoots about what society thinks of him and what his duties are. He wants to help people without interacting with them. That is until her literally runs into Betsy Dockering because her dog (Galahad) has tangled up with his aunt’s dog (Lancelot) who is in his care. They exchange not nice pleasantries and go there separate ways. However scandal happens and “Bitsy’s” dog gets stolen only it isn’t Galahad but Lancelot. This forces Michael and Bitsy to work together to solve the mystery and find the dogs together.
I liked watching Michael get comfortable around Bitsy and realizing that even though she is a diamond, she isn’t all about what society wants from her. She has a brilliant mind and feels safe showing it off around him. I also liked Bitsy realizing that even though the top suitor is after her (Peter Cordray), she doesn’t want to just go with the first guy that proposes. She wants sparks.
I am giving this book three stars because overall it was good but in my opinion it was not great. I wish there had been a little more steam. A LITTLE more of some spice versus what we got. Dogs and dukes equal trouble!
Enoch has done it again. Written another zany romance! Perfect! Humorous, ironically witty and just plain good fun!
When the eccentric Michael Bromley, the Duke of Woriton, an absent minded scientist agrees, or rather has his Aunt Mary’s poodle Lancelot foisted upon him, he little knows it will change his life.
It starts with Michael ending up in a pond in Hyde Park entangled in dog leads. That of Lancelot, and heiress Miss Elizabeth Dockering, Bitsey’s identical poodle Galahad.
Not only that, Woriton finds himself in the middle of a dog napping caper!
Further complications happen when the wrong dog is nabbed! Talk about chaos and missed moments.
Elizabeth refers to Michael as “Lord Steely-Eyed Logic.” She has come to appreciate his scientific endeavours. So worthy! Meanwhile Michael, and even more his household, love that Elizabeth has dragged Woriton out of his study and into life!
We’re introduced to the misguided but kindly dog napper Jimmy Blys, and his would be lady Sally Pangle. Both of whom we come to adore. Sally works with a travelling fair. She performs with a troupe of dogs.
There’s some delicious lines between these covers, adding to the delight.
A romance with a very delightful plot! I enjoyed this immensely!

EVERY DUKE HAS HIS DAY is a delightful standalone regency rom-com featuring enemies to lovers (sort of) with a touch of mystery to solve and a dash of canine chaos.
I adored our main characters, Elizabeth ("Bitsy") and Michael. I enjoyed that they made Bitsy the Diamond of the season, since it's actually not so common to see the Diamond as the heroine. It was so refreshing to see Bitsy to be portrayed as someone who likes dancing and balls and pretty, frivolous things, but also has a good head on her shoulders and can stand as Michael's equal. Michael is also a delight as the male lead; having his big scientific brain's POV was great and really balanced out the story. I expected a fluffy rom-com and I definitely got that out of this book, but it also ended up being much deeper than I expected-- Bitsy and Michael both grow as characters over the course of the story and their gradually developing chemistry was wonderful to see.
The side characters were also fun-- I love that we get the "villain's" POV as well and it really fleshed out the story further. The secondary romance was unexpected but really enjoyable.

I expected a fluffy rom-com and I definitely got that out of this book, but it also ended up being much deeper than I expected-- Bitsy and Michael both grow as characters over the course of the story and their gradually developing chemistry was wonderful to see.
The side characters were also fun-- I love that we get the "villain's" POV as well and it really fleshed out the story further. The secondary romance was unexpected but really enjoyable.

I’m on a roll this year with Historical Romance, and had such a fun time reading 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝘿𝙪𝙠𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙨 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝘿𝙖𝙮 and can’t wait to read more of this genre.
Michael Bromley, Duke of Woriton, and grumpy eccentric scientist meets sunshine, Elizabeth “Bitsy” during a chance meet cute at Hyde Park. When their dogs get tangled up, they accidentally swap pets.
I love an opposites attract love story, and this featured characters that were so well written, it was both charming and heartwarming, bringing all the laughs.
I both read the physical and listened to the audiobook format and enjoyed them both!

What's happened to me. I used to read thought-provoking literature.
I found this too mild and tedious. Also, many distracting historical inaccuracies. The most egregious was that the author didn't bother to consider how much money these characters were throwing around. At one point he gives someone 20 pounds casually and that would have been a year's salary in the Regency period. It's implied it was just enough for some nice food for a bit.

Adorable. I really enjoyed this quick, cute read. I fell in love with the two MC's right away and I loved that it was a clean romance, refreshing to find at times. If you want a good, steamy romance, this isn't the right book for you. There's very, very little in this book but it still was worth the time (for romance genre). Even if you love steamy romance and look for that, you still might love how whimsical it is and how Michael Blumley, Duke of Loriton, and Elizabeth “Bitsy” Dockering meet in the most unusual and funny way.

This was a perfect summer read. Super cute, light romance with dogs! The story is just as adorable as the cover - perfect to just enjoy the summer sun and tuck into a regency romance. I liked reading how the characters grew, the light romance, the slight grumpy mc. The addition of the dogs and the silly moments made this all the sweeter.

I just finished Every Duke has his day by Suzanne Enoch and here is my review.
Michael Bromley may be a Duke but he isn’t interested in the society or the trivial pursuits that come with it. He has bigger aspirations. Chemistry. He has no decorum and his eccentric ways keep people from getting too close. When his Aunt Mary asks him to watch her beloved Poodle Lancelot while she is away, he does so begrudgingly.
Bitsy Dockering is the daughter of a viscount and in her second season in London. Everyone loves her, even her nightmare pooch, Galahad.
A mishap at the park has both Michael and Bitsy accidentally swapping dogs. Unbeknown to Bitsy, her suitor has planned to steal her dog as he and the dog do not get along. Problem is the dognapper ends up with Lancelot instead of Galahad which has both Michael and Bitsy working together to find the missing dog. Michael isn’t thrilled that Bitsy wants to help. He has no time for flakey women. He soon realizes he may have misjudged Bitsy and he certainly isn’t missing the chemistry that is igniting between the two of them.
I loved the title of this book and that was one of the reasons I had to read it and it really didn’t disappoint. The book was full of funny quips and banter! The situation was so funny and only something so insane could have bought a man like Michael out of himself. I loved watching Bitsy shed off the constraints of formality and find not only herself, but a man that could see for her more than just a wife in name. It was super sweet and I loved how eccentric Michael was.
I am always a sucker for historical fiction set in London. It’s like my catnip! I loved the intrigue of dogs being mixed up and how all zany adventures started. I have a real soft spot for Jimmy too and watching him figuring out who he wanted to be was amazing!
If you love regency romance books then you must add this one to our TBR. The adorable seemingly incompatible pair will fill you full of all the feels!

I will say right away for anyone curious, the dogs are dognapped but no harm was done!! They are safe and there is no animal abuse.
I loved Michael and Elizabeth. Totally opposites from each other. Michael is very into his work, doesn’t love social interactions. But then you have Elizabeth aka Bitsy. She is talkative, likes going to the dances, smiles at everyone. She’s a social butterfly. So you would think they wouldn’t gravitate towards each other, but they did!
I loved their banter, I loved them teaming up to get both their poodles back. I love how their perceptions of one another changed over time. It was just so cute watching them fall in love.
Overall, super charming romance novel. I’ll definitely be recommending this one to friends and family. ❤️

A cute historical romance with a little dognapping included. Michael Bromsley, Duke of Woriton is grumpy and eccentric. He wants to be left alone to study electricity. His aunt leaves him with her pet poodle Lancelot while she travels. Elizabeth (Bitsy) Dockering is 19 and in her second season. She has an especially ardent suitor who loathes her devilish poodle Galahad. When both dogs go missing Michael and Elizabeth are brought together to find their pets.
This is a clean romance with kissing only and it is fun to see the pair get to know each other. To me, Michael is the more interesting character with his interests. She comes off as young and concerned about her dog. This is as fluffy of a read as the cover makes it look. There is even a side romance in the book. You’ll enjoy the book all the more if you’re a dog lover.

Debutantes, Dukes, and Poodles, oh my! These may not be the ingredients of a scientific study, but they are perfect for a romance. The Duke of Woriton is busy with his scientific discoveries, but promises to walk his aunt’s dog. He gets tangled with Miss Elizabeth Dockering in a “meet rude” and their poodles get mixed up! Then someone steals the wrong dog and they have to work together to find their lost poodles. Meanwhile they lose their hearts.
The reader does an excellent job of creating unique voices for each character. The villain in particular has a drawling voice. This is an enchanting Regency romance that is sure to find listeners!
