4+ stars. This is an excellent exposition of the Bible on two levels and with two audiences in mind: the beginner and the mature Christian. For one who has been reading and studying the Bible for some time, this book provides an outline on the Bible’s structure, organization, and focus. It is a handy reminder and reference, which you can read in as little as one day. For someone who is new to Bible study, it provides a simple yet thorough explanation of what I just stated plus how to select a translation and version (they are different), how to read it cover-to-cover (and why), and what other source materials are available to assist in one’s studies. Wilund ends with a thumb nail sketch of each of the 66 books.

I’d like to recommend this wonderful book by Jean Wilund. It’s great for all levels of spiritual maturity but especially new believers or those who have not had any specific training on how to study the Bible. It covers things like: Bible translations, how we got the Bible, the best and worst Bible reading plans, how to find a solid church to join, and a short synopsis of each book of the Bible. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot. As Jean says in the book, “We don’t study the Bible for information, but for transformation”. How simple yet profound that statement is!

As a life-long Christian, I picked up Jean’s book for a friend (who is seriously diving into the Bible for the first time). But what I didn’t realize was the depth of information Jean made available for anyone! From understanding different translations and picking Bible plans to deciphering a slew of resources, this book also peeks into every single book of the Bible. And shockingly, Jean brings in humor! If you’re looking for life-changing information about the Bible taught through a relatable author, you’re going to love learning it all with Jean.
