Wow I’ve read many books on Gods characteristics but none have been as down and earth and easy to comprehend while helping me the reader get a larger sense of who God is. I love that the author defines each of the 60 characteristics of God and each one includes a verse, quote, an explanation with a story, a prayer and a truth reminder. This is one of these books we should read over and over. I recommend reading the prayers out loud. This book was the perspective change I needed to get my eyes off the circumstances and unto who God is. A favorite quote is ‘A simple prayer and He draws bear. A groan and His gaze is upon us. A misstep and He’s aware. We don’t need to wax elegant. Our words don’t have to take on a certain cadence or follow a specific protocol.’
I don’t think I could come up with 60 adjectives to describe anything, but Julie Sunne presents 60 different aspects of God in “Sometimes I Forget.” We all forget, but in quick devotionals she offers “60 reminders of hope for your hard days.” And we all have hard days. Each chapter includes a Bible verse, a secular quote, a short story, a prayer, and a “truth reminder” to sum it all up succinctly. She shares personal challenges that make the stories relatable to her readers, who will be blessed to have picked up her book. It’s very well written, short enough to use as a devotional, and it would make a great gift. It’s a valuable reminder that even when we don’t see it or feel it, God still has our backs.
I am loving this book by author Julie Sunne! I enjoy reading nonfiction books and Bible studies that explore the attributes of God, and this book is by far one of my favorites. The author reveals 60 aspects of God’s character that help the reader understand more about who God is and how that relates to her own identity, purpose, and so much more. Each entry is thorough and engaging, but also short enough to read daily when life is busy! I highly recommend for anyone wanting a fresh dose of hope for each day.
If we walk the road of life long enough, hardships and adversity will find us. It will be during our hardest trials that push us to hold onto God as we struggle to continue to believe that He is good and has our best interests at heart. Julie vulnerably shares what those seasons have looked like for her and how God and His word encouraged her to persevere. Sometimes I Forget will encourage you, strengthen you, and give you courage when life feels hard, and you struggle to hold onto hope.
As someone who has endured seasons of disappointment and heartache, I was deeply encouraged by Julie Sunne’s rich descriptions of God’s unchanging, faithful character. Each devotional contains a beautifully written personal story that enhances our understanding of who God is to each of us personally. I highly recommend this book as a timeless resource that will anchor us more strongly to the One who is with us and for us in all our difficulties.
In the midst of life’s struggles, Julie Sunne’s beautiful words are a gentle reminder to hold onto hope, even in the tough times. Julie shared her personal stories of heartache and how God through His unchanging character gave her reason to hold onto hope no matter how her story ended.
This feels like the perfect companion for anyone needing a little extra encouragement on their journey. When we know God, we trust God.
As I read, Sometimes I Forget, I couldn't stop turning the pages. It is all I am looking for in a devotional. It is grounded in scripture, transparent story, and prayer. If you are walking through something difficult and find yourself forgetting the totality and goodness of God, Sometimes I Forget, helps you refocus and remember the fullness and magnificent character of God.
This devotional is filled with inspiring stories that each focus on an attribute of God. The devotion was followed by a prayer to help me think about and ask for that aspect of God into my life. I really enjoyed the truth reminder at the end of each day which had a great tidbit to remember through the day the theme and take away.
I have read a provided preview of some chapters of the title. The encouragement in the author’s words are a wonderful refreshment when you forget God is in control ALL the time.
