We long for home. Home should be a place of love and laughter. Shared meals. Special moments. A place of comfort, rest, and safety. Yet the homes we make always seem to fall short of satisfying our longing. They’re imperfect, transitory, and prone to fracture. People leave them. Intruders enter them. Crises shake them. Too often, instead of peace and security, home is a place of brokenness and pain. These failings of our earthly homes expose in us a longing for a better one. The good news is that there is a remedy for our homesickness. In this 7-session study, Caroline Saunders follows the theme of home through the Bible. From humanity’s first home to our eternal one, we’ll see God drawing near to abide with us. We’ll find that even the best aspects of home here are just a glimmer of what God is building for us through Christ. This study will affirm that our longing for home is good and purposeful, pointing us to our truest home which is found in Him.
I have loved Caroline’s teaching since I first heard her speak on this very topic of home back in 2020 through an audio recording where she chased the theme of home throughout the narrative of Gods Word. I bought her story of home picture book and I have truly loved studying through this theme this summer. Caroline is hilarious, engaging and such a deep thoughtful teacher. Her study went perfectly with how my brain works and it is deep and lighthearted in a way that I don’t know how she does it but she has a gift! I know her local church is so blessed but we get a taste of what it would be like to sit under her teaching when she shares her gift through these studies! I’m so thankful and would recommend this to anyone! There is a companion one for teens that I have tucked away to do with my kids the next time that I work through this book! I loved it!
I finally finished this study after several things kept me from it. To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about the study. At times it went too slow, like beating a dead horse, other times I enjoyed it. I have never done a study by Caroline Saunders; for me, she relied way too much on her tablet while teaching. It came across to me as not being as prepared as she should have been, but that is just me. I'm used to Lisa Harper, who has things available to read from but doesn't rely on her notes to get her teaching across. Don't let that detour you from taking a look at this study; if you can get through the first week, you will probably enjoy your time studying with her.
This was a wonderful study. It makes me see the whole Bible differently—as our story home. I loved how Saunders made God’s promises and character so clear, tying together the old and new testaments. Having lost my dad recently, and our last conversation being about going “home-home” to the Lord, this study offered me a lot of healing and a perspective to hope forward, not long for the home I lost. Highly recommend.
Very good study. I loved the theme traced throughout the Bible. It really did give you a great perspective of Home and what that means to us as Christians and to God. The videos weren’t my favorite nor the layout of the book as far as watching the video first before you do the work. It seemed that the information given in the video if you watched it first was a little confusing because you hadn’t read anything concerning it prior to watching.
This study is one of the best I’ve ever been lead through so far. From Genesis to Revelation, working through and connecting God’s promise of bringing us back home was so rich in igniting our spirit for the Lord and his goodness.
For anyone feeling lost and out of place, looking for something they can’t find here on earth, needing some hope in tough times, or just wanting to connect more with God, I recommend Come Home, 10/10.
Everyone has a longing to belong and feel at home. Come Home follows the story of home in the Bible. Sin is the enemy of home, but God gave us His Son to bear the punishment for our sin. He made a way for us to one day be home with Him, in His presence. This study was rich—convicting and hope giving.
