Wat een leuk verhaal, veel leuker dan ik normaal gesproken van 'deze' verhalen vind. Leuke, grappige en ook wel ontroerende tekeningen waar emoties mooi naar voren komen. Zoals het in de war zijn als iemand iets aardigs voor je doet terwijl je HEEL gemeen bent. En het krijgen van een vriend en hoe mooi en fijn dat kan zijn.

My 6yo daughter is reading this with her aunt, but she wanted me to read it too.

This book was bought because of the memes. Gooses are silly and the front cover is hilarious. This book is so much more than that though.

It starts with Gordon and other geese being mean to the locals. But then, something dramatic happens and Gordon goes on a clear character arc. This arc is eye opening for a child and for a parent, and shows where some negative behaviours may come from. In the end Gordon ends up being the bravest goose and I absolutely loved the message of it.

Also the art style and colouring (only really using black, white and red) are brilliant and very striking.

Definitely worth a read to your kids, or just to yourself :)

Mijn man de vogelhater heeft een petekind dat verzot is op vogels. Ik denk dat ze hier beiden blij van gaan worden. Mooi ook dat iets aardigs doens de sleutel is van dit boek.

‘Maar er is één gans die al deze handen bibberknieën bezorgt. Één gans die slechter is dan alle anderen bij elkaar. Eén gans die al acht jaar achtereen gekozen is tot Gemeenste Gans ter Wereld. Hij heet. GOOF.’

Goof is altijd gemeen geweest, hij weet niet hoe jij aardig moet doen. Totdat er een biggetje genaamd Anton hem een bloem geeft. Goof weet niet wat hij ermee moet, maar het blijft hem bezighouden. Hij begint een geweten te kweken, die hem laat voelen. Kan Goof veranderen?

Een klein vriendelijk gebaar kan een grootse impact maken en dat vind ik een mooie boodschap. Dat laat @AlexLatimer hier in het verhaal goed zien en dat is wat de wereld meer nodig heeft.

Dit boek is zeker een aanrader voor kinderen vanaf 7 jaar!

Wat een heerlijk boek is dit en een geweldige vertaling ook!
Goof is een gemene gans. Elke dag maakt hij een lijstje van slechte en gemene dingen die hij gaat doen. Maar dan krijgt hij op een dag een bloem van Anton het biggetje. Die bloem brengt hem van zijn stuk. En het gebaar van varken ook….

Een grappig boek met een mooie boodschap; dat je kunt veranderen als je maar wilt. En dat je dapper kunt zijn in plaats van gemeen.
De illustraties zijn zwart/wit met af en toe wat kleur. Voornamelijk rood. De teksten zijn kort en gevarieerd. Een fijn boek voor beginnende lezers. Of juffen ;-)

Some animals are presumed to be one way. For example, foxes are cunning. Geese are mean, and Gordon is the meanest of them all. He stomps on sandcastles. He punches sharks. He yells at babies. he even filled Barry Badger's backpack with acorns before he was going to hike through Squirrel Forest. When Anthony the Piglet gives Gordon a flower, he has no idea what to do. Is it poisonous? Is Anthony being nice? Why? It's funny while also showing how hard it is to be brave enough to apologize. For those wanting funny books. Similar to Narwhal & Jelly reading level. For fans of Pizza & Taco.

Our local park has a beautiful eel filled lake which I didn’t often visit with small children due to the menacing geese. They gave plenty of hiss! So I related to this quick humorous read about a mean ol goose. The story is supported with great pictures.
I felt it’s lost its edge a tiny bit towards the end, as the author attempted to unpack why we act in unkind ways. But overall, highly entertaining.

What a delightful book! About Gordon a very angry and mean goose, but what happens when someone from his town hands him a flower? I really had fun reading this one and I loved the characters. Gordon wasn't even that bad and I had a giggle at his reaction to the flower. I loved the ending and I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.
