Cami has been betrayed by her Triad, her heart shredded into tiny pieces. But reprieve is impossible as attacks come from all sides. Those in power want the trial to fail more than anything and they aren’t the only ones who want her gone from Melbak. Cami is forced to rely on the Triad that broke her, but that doesn’t mean she’s forgiven them. With her shadow man Eyke by her side, she fights to stay safe in a world that doesn’t accept her. But what secrets is he holding, and can she truly trust him? Can her heart mend enough to forgive her Triad and work together to save Melbak?
Okay, this one lost me. I mentioned in my review for the first book that I didn’t read a lot of fantasy or paranormal. I don’t hate it or anything it just doesn’t speak to me the way other genres do.
We start this book with h in full shutdown. I actually enjoyed this part as her harem triad attempted to mitigate the damage done by Tallis. Ultimately I read this duet to get to the grovel. Does Tallis grovel? Yes. The others do as well but obviously Tallis had more to grovel for. Was it adequate? Eh, I guess. The grovel was lost to me into the big conflict here between the powers that be and this ragtag triad that became a quad and their boost.
This is why I don’t read a ton of fantasy and paranormal. I can’t convince my brain to care about all the hullabaloo with the power struggles.
This realm has been dying for a few hundred years. Boosts are becoming increasingly rare and the ones that exist are plagued by illness. It’s all a big mysterious, scary conspiracy that goes all the way to the top of the power structure. I just really struggle to connect with this kind of story so I ended up doing a large amount of skimming.
I can’t confirm solid safety details because of the skimming but I think it was safe. Don’t take my word for it though.

Bring on the grovel! I loved this conclusion to the Power of Blood duet. I loved the angst, feeling every one of Cami’s emotions as the men made up for the various hurts they put her through in the last book (and a few things in this book, as well).
I live for the redemption arc, once the MMC realizes how badly he has messed up and must atone for his sins. I was so satisfied by the characters’ growth, particularly Tallis’s. I was also impressed with Cami’s maturity in her forgiveness. I appreciate that Cami wasn’t a pushover and just accepted a simple “I am sorry” to be satisfied. Still, more so, I appreciate that once forgiveness was given, she didn’t hold the slights over the MMC’s heads indefinitely.
The last book was slow/medium burn. This one starts with a bang but then simmers for some time before it picks back up. The majority of the book is plot and character-driven, but once s3x is back on the table, it is hot! You’ll get some first-time s3x, knotting, tentacles, and celebratory group s3x. There is no sword crossing.
The Power of Blood is a great duet. There is so much room for additional stories in this world; I cannot wait to see what else this author brings in the future.
I got bored so I stopped after I reached my 50% mark I feel Ike this book was a school writing competition where you had 3 days to come up with a story
3.95 ⭐️ This was a nice ending to this duology. Did the beginning give me everything I wanted out of a grovel and making the Mmc's suffer. Yes ,yes it absolutely gave me that.
I wasn't overjoyed with how the trials panned out. I wanted a little more from that , but overall I enjoyed this book, the first portion moreso but I'm happy I picked up this duet and would recommend it to anyone who loves a grovel romance, and wants a quick, fun, easy read.
Here are some of my favourite moments, ⚠️⚠️⚠️spoilers ⚠️⚠️⚠️ahead but I've tried to keep it vague.
🖤🖤🖤 They wanted my blood. Needed it. Well, I would be the boost they wanted. Blood in a skin bag. Not worthy of words. Not worthy of being seen😭😭😭😭 🖤🖤🖤 “Cami messed up my perfectly arranged life. She messed me up. Us! And now I’ve ruined it, and I don’t know — I can’t, brothers. I can’t sleep, can’t eat.” His voice turned plaintive. “I messed up and I don’t know how to fix it. I know you hate me right now. You should. I have been the biggest fool.”😡😡😡😡 🖤🖤🖤 “I am Eyke Kindale. You are the worthless prick who I will slaughter for harming my boost.” 🥰🥰🥰 swoooooon 🥰🥰🥰 🖤🖤🖤
I also absolutely cackled at Tallis's gift to cami. That was actually really funny because I would have reacted exactly the same 😆
𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖/𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒: I read both of these back to back and my review will be for both books as a whole.
This was definitely a good read. Overall I give it a 3.5 ☆ rating. (3 stars for me is good. Not as great as 4, or as amazing as 5, but good.) However, it didn't quite live up to expectations, it felt a little too YA, college kids, for me during the first book. But that's just a personal preference. If you're looking for something like that, also with bully romance (first book) then you'll love this!
I did expect this to be a bit more monster romance but it leaned more towards fantasy. Very adult though and extra hot! Lots of dirty talk. Not all of the dirty talk was my jam, but alot of it was good. We do get one knot in the group as well. 😉 Slow burn, takes awhile to really get down and dirty. But trust me, it does.
The heroine was a bit repetitive in how she mistrusted the heroes over anything. I did get a bit antsy and annoyed from it, but she sorts her sh*t out and even admits to herself some of her own hypocrisy at the end. So I felt appeased.
The redemption and growth of the relationship with Cami and Tallis, the bully of the group, was handled well. Nothing was rushed and it concluded perfectly between them. I appreciated that.
Not all of the bullying aspect I was a fan of. I enjoy the drama of a good bully romance as much as the next person, but like I said, it was a bit too college kids for me and it didn't quite hit right for me. The bullying took a more degrading turn sometimes, and even a little physical pain allowed to happen by others, so it was more of a turn off for me. But Cami handled it perfectly and there was a lot of laughs for me throughout because of her so it didn't feel too dark. And the groveling and healing process between them afterwards was good.
Overall this was a good read. It's not a favorite but there are aspects that I fully enjoyed and will easily recall later on. It's definitely a book I will keep in mind for suggestions to certain readers looking for something in this category. It was by no means bad, just not a favorite overall. And I actually really loved the quad-poly relationship that was a one-way. They were a family unit, but the men were only intimate with Cami, and her with them. I find polys like this unique and love seeing them sometimes. Outside of the more often seen poly relationships where the men and women are all intimate with each other equally. As I enjoy when the heroine or MC has the love/ devotion of all partners and is returned to them. I love it!
While I did enjoy the plot, I found the romance to be lacking. I didn’t feel any real chemistry between the MC’s and I felt declarations of love came way too fast for my liking. I wished the relationships between the characters were more fully fleshed out. There were a few scenes that we were told about but we didn’t get to experience like, Tallis meeting Cami’s family, Cami showing Eyke that his powers aren’t so evil, and so many others.

I wish I liked this Duet more. I first picked it up for the grovel that was promised. I definitely got the grovel but everything else kind of fell flat. Fantasy is tricky for me. If I don't fall in love with the world building, then I find it hard to concentrate on the relationships and plot.
The spice was okay but so much more could have been done. Especially with the tentacles 🥵
This was a good ending to the Power of Blood Duet. This story has it all: Angst, Heartache, Groveling, Redemption and Forgiveness. This book picks up where Book 1 left off at with Cami feeling utterly broken and betrayed by her Triad.
No matter how hard Fenar and Wellyn begs and pleads with her about not knowing of Tallis' plan of sabotage; Cami wasn't interested.
It was a breath of fresh air to read about a FMC not forgiving those who did her wrong so fast. There was major groveling between Fenar and Wellyn. When Cami decides to bond with someone outside of her Triad things become really complicated. Cami's attention and affection towards newly boosted Eyke causes Fenar and Wellyn heartache and Tallis to regret his betrayal and work to make amends to Cami so that he can keep her in his life as well as remain a part of the Triad.
This story was more character and plot driven and les steam. Which is ok because the reader has a chance to enjoy the complexities of the various challenges the Triad has to go through.
With a sickness affecting all Triad Boosts it is up to Cami and her men to come together and figure out how to save the day. Cami's newly boosted mate Eyke is the key to ending the sickness but he has been keeping secrets that once reveal can tear down Cami's trust in the process.
Will the Triad be able to form a Quad and work together in finding a Cure to heal the land and those affected? Or will the addition of a new mate thrown the Triad into chaos?
Dnfed 60 pages in. Honestly did anyone care for the plot? I certaily didnt. I gave precisly 0 shts about the Gaer and about the dying world and power plots and blah blah especially when the main focus was on the heroin and her MCs. I actually wish the author would have made the world building simple and kept the intrigue and main plot point to the MCs not excepting a new boost and then groveling cuz the grovel was top notch
Wow! After the epically heartbreaking ending to the first book in this duet, I was unsure of how the characters would be able to move forward. If you are looking for some great grovel and even more heartache, this is the book for you!
I love the incredible world building that comes in the Power of Blood duet. The history that had begun to be woven in book one is beautifully continued in this story. We are also introduced to new teasing concepts for use in future books!
The characters are well flushed and as likable as they are loathsome! Especially the FMC who still has a lot of room for growth at the end of the story.
The spice was spread out, a med burn, but it was still meltingly delicious! A heavy touch of monster loving, dream worthy content!
I look forward to seeing more from this author in the future!
I enjoyed book 2 more than book 1. The pacing is better. It doesn’t feel rushed or clipped. It felt like we had time to marinate in each character’s development; with one another and separately. There’s groveling! There were a couple instances where the dialogue felt a bit juvenile but overall I liked the author’s writing style. She has a great vocabulary and knows how to wield it without coming off pretentious. Definitely going to keep an eye on future work.
This story had so much potential, but trying to squeeze it all into just two books made everything feel rushed.
The balance between the intricate plot and the character relationships didn't quite click. It felt like the characters had this instant connection that didn't relate to any real built-up chemistry.
I wanted to see more of Cami's character growth and her relationship with her Legion, but both aspects fell short because of the breakneck pace. Given more space to develop, these elements could have truly shone.
Ugh. So I was willing to look past the constant exposition but I really grew to despise the fmc, to the point I was just skimming by the end. I almost considered at one point that it was deliberate and intended to be the origin story of a villain, she was so awful.
Weak minded, self-centered and constantly making it everyone else's problem. She ticked off most of my pet peeves when it comes to FMCs.
She was violent when she's upset (switch the genders and see how 'strong' it is when someone hits and scratches their partner because they're mad).
Always jumping to the most woe-is-me conclusion no matter what the facts are. I hope nothing actually tragic ever happens to this girl because she will probably literally drop dead, considering her overblown reaction to high school level drama.
Constantly being praised and complimented for no reason (literally, all she has to do is bleed. That and sex is the only real contribution she's made. I would be fuming to be stuck with her if i was her group... but then aside from one competition it'snever really explained what the point of the triads is).
The only thing on my list she hasn't done is get rapey so I guess I should be grateful for that.
In reality what this girl needs is intensive therapy and meds, not codependent relationships with three high schoolers and a creepy uncle.

I loved the characters, and how the fMC didn’t immediately forgive the guy(s) without being needlessly stubborn. There was good communication, which is truly a unicorn to find in books, and I loved it. I especially loved the way Tallis showed he was sorry.
Although there is a big, world spanning plot, I felt like all that stuff was solved quite easily and without much talk about it, so I’d definitely say that it’s more a character-focused duet. I could’ve used a little bit more solid plot and more of an explanation as to how the curse had come to be exactly and what all happened after that. But I loved the characters and the focus on them, so well done!
I liked this book but I had a hard time finishing it. I generally have a hard time finishing the last book in a series. but the pacing of this book felt off. It lost the suspense at about 60%. What I wanted from this book was to stretch out the grovel and forgiveness. I really wanted all 3 of them to earn it. They do... but most of it was done after the resolution of the book, which was a little strange.
One thing I did like was that most of the book was done by 80% through and the last 20% was all epilogs. I love a good long HEA.
Nope. She’s silent and void for 2 weeks. Then the fourth member comes and she’s all Snapped out of it and fighting and then forgiving in two pages. It’s SO MUCH side drama for no reason and NO REASON for the change of heart from the bully. Not a fan.
I didn't skim or skip, and couldn't see his hatred for humans being redeemable, for example, if a Nazi is bred from the beginning, and then, someone like a deity says to him, your only option to live, have power or whatever those fuckers want, is to be bound by being in love with someone that he was groom to hate, I'm 100% he|she would choose death. Countries with similar thinking like Germany, Spain, France, USA, their creed and core of their soul are all about supremacy, don't fool yourself about appearances, they are groom to feel and think like they are a superior race, that's why the xenophobia and hatred are so strong in those countries, Germany from the outside could be seen as normal with levelheaded people, but I lived there, and it is horrible to be a foreigner in there, I witnessed so much hatred for foreigners. So this is why Tallis was not redeemable, I've never met a racist willing or able to change, that doesn't exist, is a fairy tale, don't fool yourself, they are not capable... The whole "I'm sorry" act, was that, an act, is pretty naive from the author's point of view thinking that words of sorry, the new photography or the parents were enough to prove that he changed. It was because he knew he fucked up because he was about to be boostless and powerless, he was supposed to do that, expected from everyone to make amends, he showed his true colors and treated her like thrash because of his believes...
Sorry, please don't report this review, but I know what I am talking about, I've been attacked and assaulted by nationalist, xenophobic narrow-minded people, spent days recuperating, firsthand experience and that's why I know they can't change...
I loved the book, it struck a close point, but the topic just revealed the privilege that the author has in her life, the way the author wrote Tallis growth in order to be included in his quad, is not possible, I KNOW IT IS A FANTASY BOOK, but at least do it and write it right, right?
“Triad’s Cure” surprised me in all of the best ways!
First off, thank you to Mae for releasing this book so quickly after book one! “Triad’s Curse” was one of the best books I read in 2022 and I am so happy that we were able to read the sequel so soon after the release of book one.
Interestingly, this book does not pick up right where book one ends. There’s no time jump, but what you think Tallis is going to do isn’t actually revealed until the end of the book. Instead, the book starts off with Cami coming out of her coma, so to speak. She’s extremely depressed and resigns herself to living life as the triads boost. She even goes as far as to not take care of herself and only boost the boys.
Naturally, Wellyn and Fenar are distraught by what happened in book one, and Tallis is a completely different man since hurting Cami. With that being said, there is a lot of character development in this story. Cami is conflicted with the understanding that Wellyn and Fenar actually had no part in the bullying, and Tallis makes amend after amend to try and win back Cami’s trust. Like all good reverse harems, it takes another man coming into the picture to really shake up this group and make themselves stronger. Enter Eyke.
Eyke is the mysterious shadow figure (at least he was in my mind) that we met in book one. In “Triad’s Cure” we learn so much more about him and his role in Melbak and the Gaer. I enjoyed getting to know him, but understand that he has more of a prominent role in this story, so you don’t get as much from Wellyn and Fenar for this reason.
This book is such an easy read and if you enjoyed book one you undoubtedly will like book two! I loved seeing Cami reconcile with the men and found it honorable how much Tallis changed to be a better Legion. By the end of the book they are such a stronger, more unified Triad for it all. I’m equally as excited to see what Cove gets up to, and am thrilled that we already saw a little peek into her life.
This duet is my first favorite read of 2023! The angst in book one is carried over perfectly into book two, and the first chapter almost takes your breath away feeling Cami's pain. You'll want to hate Tallis for what he did, and it would be deserving, but he works tirelessly to show how sorry he is. Even if he stumbles because he doesn't quite know how to prove his regret, it's honest and raw to watch him humble himself before her. The grovel earns an A+, which is not an easy feat to accomplish in my eyes, and I was beyond satisfied with his redemption. Poor Cami gets thrown punch after punch with her guys, from her not understanding why Wellyn and Fenar allowed Tallis to ruin her at the end of book 1, to Eyke's secrets, to Wellyn withholding his heritage, but she finds ways to forgive them without sacrificing her dignity or well-being. Her love and care for them even after they mess up and her ability to see beyond face value of their actions, is incredible, and I love her strength and compassion. One thing, though, there are some grammar missteps in this duet that would normally have me taking off a half star because they were enough that it messed up the reading flow in a couple spots. BUT this story was just so good and I loved it so much, that while I'm noting it here to be transparent in my feelings, it still deserves a full five stars. The creativity of the storyline, my intense connection to the characters, the success of the grovel, and the overall feels this story gave me deserve nothing less. Can't wait for more from this author!
I was blown away by the ending of the Power of Blod Duet. I wasn't sure how Tallis was going to be able to redeem himself, and how Fenar and Wellyn would be able to explain what happened at the end of book 1. Cami had a truly tough road ahead of her, she was at her lowest point, and couldn't (also didn't) want to forgive or talk to the guys. Tallis outed their boost in an extremely cruel way which also came back to smack him in the face.
Beyond that, there's a new boosted mate in town, and boy do we love a protective mate who cherishes her and loves her so much. UGH so flipping cute. I will admit I am a hard judger for groveling, and how deeply they do grovel. Also, does it balance out the forgiveness level that the FMC deserves, and how stubborn is she being at forgiving them? I feel like Mae balanced the grovel with the level of forgiveness that Cami was owed perfectly. Cami was deeply hurt and was already vulnerable when it came to Tallis. It was A+ if you're needing a GOOD groveling book, this is it! Plus you get a 'new' mate that'll be her pillar of strength for when things get too hard.
Beyond the betrayal and groveling, the triad and its newest mate had to also deal with the sickening that is affecting all Triad boosts. There are also a few secrets that the newest mate has not revealed to Cami, so will that backfire after he's worked so hard? Will they go from a Triad to a Quad and be able to work together?
It's such an amazing ending to the story you won't want to put the book down!
A fun duet that I wish had a few more chapters from the guys' POVs. Cami is a bartender just trying to make money for her family, who are struggling since her father's car accident that left him paralyzed. Cami blames herself for the accident and will do anything to help alleviate the family's difficulties. She signs up for an experimental trial involving her blood. (As you do.) Suddenly, she's spirited away to another dimension to serve as a 'boost' to three not-vampires. Much of the first book is introducing the world and stakes, and the three members of her triad: sweet but passive Wellyn; superficially charming Fenar; and total dickweed Tallis. (There's a fourth secret fella who only visits her in her dreams: the enigmatic Eyke.)
The second book is the grovel for the triad's (mostly Tallis's) actions in the first book. It's a good one, words and actions, and Cami makes them work for it. But I really wish we'd gotten more chapters from the guys' POVs especially in this volume. I want to wallow in their suffering, give it toooooo meeeee.
Cami is a likable character with a strong spine. I mean, she was probably clinically depressed at the beginning and never should've signed up for weird blood experiments, but what can you do. There's lots of growth for all the characters, including Cami. Enjoyable overall, but I wish some parts were more fleshed out.
DNF series - Finished 100% of book 1 and 79% of book 2
"Love is sacrifice, pain, tearing yourself apart for the better of someone else." pg. 44 book 1
When it comes to bully romances... wow. You'll love this if that's your style! Usually it's not mine but I really liked the idea behind this series. However, I tried reading this twice. I managed to finish the first book twice and this time I got to 79% of book two and I just got bored. Honestly, the groveling wasn't enough. And then AS SOON AS she forgives one of them, something comes up and she is mad at the next... ugh. I hate when that happens in books because it just feels so forced. Like everything else isn't enough drama so as soon as some of the conflict is solved, the author adds another one in it's place.
And the conflict that did come between her and one of the mmcs was like... kind of bs? The fmc KNOWS him, and doesn't really give him the chance to explain.
Also, when she accidentally gets drugged in the second book it was so random and like.. didn't really add anything interesting to the book. It made her explain her not liking being under any influence to the rest of the harem but other than that it was pointless fluff.
I got so far in book two and wanted so badly to finish but I just couldn't do it. I was bored and kind of annoyed.
Two things: character development and groveling. This book has improved immensely compared to the previous installment, and serve as a great conclusion for the duet. Cami had exceeded my expectations as she proved her self worth and strength as both a person and a boost. Her trials and tribulations were more than someone like her deserved yet she overcame them with a determination that made her endearing. The amount of secrets and betrayals she was subjected to was downright criminal but that didn't stop Cami from fighting for her own peace.
The groveling from the boys was amazing but I wouldn't object to more if it were possible. Her quad had shown remorse and deep regret for they made mistakes, either intentionally or otherwise. It was enlightening to see them fall over themselves trying to redeem their worth for Cami's trust and affection.
This book is also more action-packed; the intensity of which was addicting because I just couldn't help but keep turning the pages to see how Cami and her quad were going to survive their seemingly never-ending obstacles. Subsequently that made the HEA all the more satisfying and gratifying. I loved the epilogue and how they tied up all the loose ends that I didn't even know I needed. Overall this is an amazing duet, totally worth the read.
What a wonderful conclusion to one of my favorite reads of 2022!
Mae Pierce knows how to write a grovel. Each character went through significant growth throughout this story, and I loved following their journey as a group. While Cami had the most POV chapters again, there were more POV chapters from the other main characters, which I immensely enjoyed. I wish we saw a bit more of the relationships forming and repairing between the men, but I do not feel like this book lacked connection between them.
There were so many moving parts in the plot of this duology. It was engaging from the first page to the last. I would say it is overall medium-paced and while primarily character-driven, has a solid plot.
The world continued to be fleshed out. I found the history interesting and enjoyed exploring how Melbak had adapted and changed over time. While there are still some unanswered questions, I believe it is well set up to be explored in further books (PLEASE give me more books in Melbak).
I am looking forward to Cove’s story as well. I cannot wait to follow Mae Pierce’s work. She is undoubtedly one to watch!
I received an ARC of this book (thank you so much) and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
