Even after nearly a decade since that fateful night, one that forever changed Katy's world, it still haunted her. Sure, her new life was full of new and exciting opportunities, not to mention a whole new family, but still. Knowing the ones who were responsible still roamed freely left her living in fear of their return. That was, until they did.

Meanwhile, the Blackwood Tower systems are sabotaged, threatening their home above the hotel. Being the only one in the pack with the knowledge to solve the problem, James must work quickly to repair the situation. Determined to prove who is behind it all, to do his part to protect the pack, he works nonstop to figure it out.

With the pack on high alert, working to defend themselves against a nearly century old rival, tensions seem to rise amongst some of them. Soon Katy is faced with an option, one she hadn't considered until now. When the past comes knocking, she will have to decide for herself what she wants.

I would have given this book a 4 or 5 stars if it hadn't been for the graphic torture scenes!

I love were-creature books and this one started out good. However, about halfway through came the most grotesque torture scene I have ever read! Even skimming over it did no good as the words seemed to leap out of the page and into my eyeballs.

Katy is a new werewolf who is learning about her wolfen family. She has a few hits and misses but for the most part, is accepted into the pack with very little drama. I would have liked less violence and gore and more in-depth information about the characters. Even though the good guys appear to have won, the book ends on a cliffhanger that leaves the reader frustrated beyond belief. If I had known it ended that way, I would have still read the book but I would have been prepared for the "ending".

I'm not sure if I will read the next two books, but you can bet if I do, I will skip over any scenes detailing torture in minute detail. It seemed like the author was way too involved in telling us about the torture in detail rather than letting the reader's imagination fill in the blanks.

With all the books about werewolves out there it might be hard to choose which one, if any, to read. This book is different. It has little in the way of description allowing more to your own imagination than the authors own. It is refreshing. For some it may be a deterrent for a good review but when others describe the characters with some much detail we all end up with a similar idea. The way Samantha tells a story is heartfelt. You really feel like you know these characters and the dialogue used is sweet and real. I am looking to reading the other books in this series and seeing Samantha again. See you in 2026 Samantha with book 5!

Ok, this is a different take on a wolf pack. Bunch of odds and ends. 2.5 star listen, short and has quite a bit of action but I wasn’t overly invested in the story itself. Narration was good but the story itself didn’t quite hit the right spot for me. Maybe I need to continue the series to get more invested but yeah I’m not overly fussed.

Second book??

It was a good book. Unfortunately, it left everything hanging - and I mean everything. No mention of a second book, which saddens me because it has really good potential.
