This was my first time being an ARC reader and it definitely didn’t disappoint. At first I couldn’t stand the female main character but as the story progressed I found myself becoming so engrossed in her storyline. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because of the lack of settings and the length of the book. I felt like it was rather long at certain times and the entire storyline took place at the rink. However, I still throughly enjoyed this male main character and the storyline. Plus the spice is *chef’s kiss* 😚

I had the amazing privilege of being an ARC reader for Healing Ice and what an amazing read!

I love a good sports romance book so I was so excited to be able to be an ARC reader. This book is not like any other sports romance books and for that I truly loved it.

I enjoyed the take that this story did revolve around sports but it took on much more perspectives then that. With Jaze dealing with trauma and overcoming fear, and Samira dealing with loss and change, I enjoyed that both characters truly had their own aspects and how they shared these throughout the story and worked on them together.

The reverse dynamic of this book was also amazing. I loved that Samira was the fiery figure skater, with aspiring goals and that Jaze was overcoming trauma and fear and that he was open with his feelings towards her.

This one hit right in the feels as I truly felt the author touched in relatable and real topics, allowing you to feel how the characters felt.

Overall this book was amazing! A great addition to the sports romance genre and I highly recommend this read!

i was pleased to be an eARC reader for this book. and let me tell you… it did not disappoint!!

healing ice had the absolute perfect amount of spice and lovey dovey moments, as well as 2 beautiful stories mixed in from both jaze and samira’s perspectives.

this book honestly healed me in so many ways and really just emphasized the importance of working through your traumas at your own pace and letting in the people close to you. i wish i could go back and read this book again for the first time.

i truly cannot wait to see what anne has in store next 🫶🏼

For my first ever arc read i was impressed!
Typically going in completely blind with a book is not something i do however i thought to give it a try.
This book was so much better than i expected considering it was a hockey romance. The way the two main characters work together to deal with there trauma and personal growth is fantastic.
I loved the whitty responses and the humour knvolved in the book and would highly reccomend.
If i could give a 4.5 i would as it is definitely worth a read. It may take a few chapters to get into however hence the 4/4.5

I am an ARC reader for this book. Anne portrayed the grief of loosing a parent and the fear induced from a near death incident incredibly well. Jaze has the typical ‘player’ personality and Samira will never not remain him about that. Their self development helped by each other is such a key point to this book. Overall a great book and definitely a different hockey romance.

I had a hard time with this book because I really didn’t like the FMC. I realize she was working through grief but she just came off self centered and not caring of others feelings. I also felt like the book kept repeating the same scenes over and over. They were either at the ice rink, her house or his dorm. It just made it feel like the same thing was happening over and over in a loop. But I did enjoy the overall premise enough that it kept me wanting to keep reading and see how it all played out. I liked the ending and was glad to see that things finally got worked out.

I read this book as an ARC reader.

I didn't see the connection between the 2 main characters at all and the insta love in this was INSANE. Kissing by chapter 3?? Not for me.
The ideas were there though and I could see the vision, it just wasn't for me.

Healing Ice had a great premise - two people who shared a love for the ice but had both been affected by trauma meaning that one's fear stopped them from being able to imagine a life on the ice and the other unable to imagine a life away from it.

Jaze was a talented hockey player but one day when playing on a frozen lake, the ice cracked and he went into the water. He came out relatively unscathed apart from the demons that stopped him from being able to set foot on the ice anymore. He was still around the ice and helped his dad, the coach, with his former team but watched from the sidelines mainly, and that's where he witnessed Samira, a beautiful figure skater who inadvertently helped him through his fears despite being unable to help herself.

Samira was a talented figure skater, but she was so devoted to achieving success that she didn't enjoy the life that was around her. She was closed off and cold to people and it was pretty annoying to read to be honest as she didn't come across as likable at all. The way she acted towards people was cruel and hurtful with her seeing them as transactional and only how they could help her. I understand her actions were brought upon by grief, but it wasn't until toward the end of the book that we saw any real growth in her and a softer side after Jaze finally managed to chip away at her frozen heart.

It was very much a push-pull relationship. Jaze would be carefree and kind and Samira would snipe and be rude, they would bicker, have sex and then repeat ad infinitum. It was hard to understand what Jaze saw in Samira and to really get behind their relationship which did mean at times I struggled with the book, however, I'm glad I continued because the few soft and tender moments we did experience from Samira where she dropped the snark and actually let someone in were wonderful to witness.

Hey beautiful readers, I've had the privilege to be one of the arc readers for this book, and this is one of the easiest 5-star reviews i can give. This is a sports romance, but don't ever let the genre put you off from reading this. There is so much relatable to this book that it's unreal. Let's put some basics down. Samira is the female lead character, an ice skater aiming for the Olympics who has suffered a family loss. The Male character is Jaze is/was an ice hockey player until an accident happens that leaves him fearful of the ice itself.
We have the some sexy scenes starting with a passionate kiss ramping up to atleast 3.5-4 chili peppers 🌶. Hell, yeah, we all love and devour these sort of scenes and this is sooo tactfully done.

few 🙈 I'm trying not to give to much away but Anne's style of writing really suckers you in. She manages to make you you get lost in the feels of the book leaving you wanting more and I believe this is cause she uses real life scenarios.

I mean how many of us want to make someone proud even if they are no longer here.
How many of us want to overcome a fear but don't know where to start. We have all been there!!!

This book gives a great detailed picture of each scene which includes flash backs to allow you to really get the just of each characters emotions. So with that I leave you with a mild quote from the book that I hope will entice you in "jaze I whispered feeling the sweet pleasure creating to new heights leaning down to his ear, I nipped at the skin just below it shit! I'm close a low almost primal sound escaped him l, a clear appreciation of my impending climax"

“You can’t truly understand the depth of a great love until you witness it. And when you do, you can’t imagine anything surpassing it.”

Healing Ice by Anne T. Thyssen beautifully touches upon themes of love, overcoming fears, and rediscovering oneself. Readers will swoon over Samira and Jaze as they meet, become friends, and fall in love. While there are many romantic moments in Jaze and Samira’s story, the two navigate through their respective challenges both individually and together.

Readers will definitely be able to connect with the characters due to their relatable nature. Samira is determined to achieve the goals her and her late father set for her before he passed. In turn, she struggles to make time for herself and other people (friends, relationships, etc). Healing Ice highlights the importance of taking breaks and confiding in others whilst achieving goals. Additionally, Samira goes through some family changes that makes it difficult for her to accept them and begin new relationships. Jaze goes through a bit of trauma in the beginning of the book, which has him fearing the thing he loves most. Healing Ice wonderfully explains the importance of never giving up.

Jaze and Samira’s relationship is extremely beautiful. They both are able to confide in each other when they need to the most. Yes, there is spice and chemistry between them, but their friendship is the most valuable part of their relationship.

Healing Ice is definitely a book to read especially if you love books where both characters help the other overcome obstacles while falling for each other.

I received a digital ARC provided by Anne T. Thyssen in exchange for an honest review.
Healing Ice is set to release October 8th, 2023.

Hockey star Jaze experiences a traumatic event that alters his future with the sport he loves most, hockey. Depsite the efforts from his family and friends, he struggles to move past what happened leaving him “on the sidelines of his own life”. That is until driven figure skater Samira enters the rink and captures his attention.

I was unsure if I liked Samira at first. She’s open and so goal driven, making her seem a bit arrogant at times. However, I can relate to her in earning her fathers pride and struggling with grief. Greif is an odd emotion that explores the unknown. I believe my biggest struggle was not being drawn to the storyline due to the lack of chemistry between the characters. The setting was one of three places: the rink, Samira’s house, or Jaze’s dorm which caused me to lose interest at times. As a hockey fan I thought it was odd for the use of “plastic glass barrier” and “plastic glass between us” when the term boards would have been a better fit with this being a sports romance.

I’m rating Healing Ice 3/5 stars. If you are looking for a YA sports romance with family, tension, tragedy, and overcoming obstacles to find happiness then Healing Ice is the book for you. Thank you Anne T. Thyssen for an ARC of this book!

“I love being on the ice, but now I have a reason to look forward to coming off it.”

‘Healing Ice is a story about Jaze, a former hockey player who after a traumatic event is now afraid to step on the ice, and Samira, a figure skater who uses the ice as an outlet for her grieving. So when the two strike up an unlikely friendship, are they able to help each other heal?’

This was such a sweet book about two people who both had very different experiences, but also need each other to help with their fears and grief. Jaze and Samira both had their share of traumatic experiences, but it was beautiful when they started to talk and share their past.

Jaze was an absolute sweetheart from start to finish. I absolutely adored his character and everything about him. His bravery when Samira need help made me tear up and I was so proud of him.

I initially thought Samira was rude at the start, especially to Jaze. But once I learned more about her and her past, I could understand where she was coming from and why she liked to be alone. She was slow in warming up to Jaze, but once she started to let him in, she just couldn’t stop!

When they both confessed their love for each other… that scene was absolutely everything I could’ve wished and hoped for. Just perfection.

This book includes:
• Figure Skater x Hockey Player
• Reverse Grumpy x Sunshine
• Trauma/Loss of loved one

Thank you Anne for the arc of this book.

“You can’t truly understand the depth of a great love without witnessing it. And when you do, you can’t imagine anything surpassing it.”

This book was a beautiful read. It touched on themes of love, grief and great determination.

I liked this book. I liked the banter between the two lead characters and the unconditional love and adoration they had for each other. They understood each other in the way that nobody else did, and this was apparent throughout the storyline.

However, I would have liked more time to fall in love with characters. I wanted to fall for each of the characters alongside them, but their love felt very instantaneous and slightly unrealistic. I would have liked to get to know Jaze’s (mmc) family a bit more. The siblings were brought up in the prologue and the epilogue and then never seen again. I would have liked for the storyline to divulge a little more on his life.

I loved the way the topic of grief was written. You could feel the anguish and pain that Samira felt about her father. However it wasn’t revealed how that impacted their relationship until the last chapter and the last 10 pages.

A good book and a great palate cleanser! 3.25⭐️

Arc review 🫶🏻 ⛸️

The book was a really sweet read, it wasn't what I expected it to be in some ways. There was elements I struggled with but overall was intriguing!

Parts I loved were the MMC (Jaze) and his golden retriever energy, despite having his own traumas and troubles he still made me swoon. The premises of him helping the FMC kept me keep reading so I could see how it all played out. The wittiness between the two and tension was undeniable 🤭

The plot and the environment was lacking certain elements for me. The book only took place at 2-3 locations and the FMC and MMC were the only characters in it. In some ways i felt like I was on a loop with each chapter. One of the amazing things for me about ice hockey books is all the other characters; coaches, team players, families and this book missed that secret trick🫣

I received this book as an arc and am voluntarily providing my honest review.

At first, I found the fmc, Samira, to be childish, and at times, it took away from the story. I understand loss and fear of change, but Samira appeared to be spoiled and throwing a tantrum. I'm glad I stuck with the story because it was nice to see how Samira and the mmc, Jaze, explored their relationship and navigated the obstacles. With Samira being so dedicated to figure skating and Jaze being employed at the rink it was understandable that the majority of their interactions took place at the rink, but I wished there was more opportunity to show how they interacted away from the rink. Overall, I grew to love their story and enjoyed this book.

I was sent this book as am arc and it was a great first one! This book was unlike any of the other hockey romances I've read before. This book was truly a journey of healing for the two main characters. You have Jaze, who suffered a traumatic accident and is quite literally frozen in the past, unable to move past it. Then you have Samira, who lost someone dear to her and has become so focused on her dreams that she has time for nothing and no one else. Losing a parent is tough, and sometimes you just want to just grasp onto anything that helps you keep connected with them. The two come together and slowly learn how to live again. Samira helps Jaze face his fears, and Jaze helps Samira to live in the now.

3 of 5 🌶️/ 3.5 of 5 ⭐️ / Jaze and Saimara take us on a jounrey through their traumas and love story. Honestly Simara was a bit hard to deal with at moments she is very stubborn but the unmasking of her trauma did make sense for why she was this was. I enjoyed their story, and their spicy fun as well as it was clear from the passion between them their connection was definitely something beyond the fling they thought it was. They helped each other find balance, happiness, and bring back the clear joy for the ice they both had deep down in their souls. The beginning of this book is definitely one of the best intros I've read in a while, and I'm so glad to say this book does have a HEA. (cause I wasn't positive it would for a minute there)

This book is a sports romance with the two main characters helping each other work through past trauma. It was a good story line and had some nice moments and some spicy scenes. Unfortunately, I just didn’t really feel any chemistry between the characters. Majority of the book took place at the same scene and there weren’t many side characters so I found it really hard to connect and feel like I was fully immersed in the book. Due to my lack of connection in the main characters this book wasn’t my favorite but I will definitely be giving this author another chance!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I did enjoy this book but also struggled to read it at times. There were definitely cute moments and we can see how much the characters grew. Samira is a very dedicated figure skater and Jaze works at the rink so it made sense to see a lot of them at the rink. But I also wish we got to see more of them away from the rink to see how they interacted together in a different environment. This book deals with tragedy, trauma and family tension but we were able to see how they were able to overcome those and find happiness. Samira and Jaze both had their own problems but were able to work together and become a team.

I received this book to do an ARC review. Jaze is a rising hockey star that has experienced a traumatizing event that leaves his struggling to get back on the ice. Samari is a figure skater that has high dreams of achieving her dreams of the world championships and eventually the Olympics. Years later, she is still struggling through the loss of a loved one.

Jaze is easy going despite suffering from anxiety when it comes to returning to hockey. Samari is closed off and tries to place protective barriers around her to protect anyone from getting too close. Together, they help each other to maintain their goals and form a relationship.

I went into this book think oh ice skating and hockey player nice little romance /Rom com book maybe a little spice ,

Oh No I was so wrong, there is depth in this story as both characters look to face demons that are effecting their lives.

Jaze was the golden child of hockey until a horrific accident leaves him afraid of the ice. Samira is delaying the death of a parent and trying to live up to their expectations even though there not here to see it.

The story sucks you in and takes you on both characters journey as they learn to battle their demons whilst dealing with the growing attraction between them.

First book I’ve read by this author but would Iove to read more

Love of ice, overcoming fear and loss

Both characters have felt a loss with the connection to the ice on the chosen careers.
They both have to overcome so much as the chase their dreams in different manners/character traits.
She’s driven, not wanting to give up on a goal and keeping her life on the tract she thinks she has to stay on, not allowing people into her life.
He suffered an accident that has his fear of his dream, so he has taken a different route leaving his dream behind.
But they crash into each other and follow their hearts to overcome.
At first thought too much narration, but as characters grew so did the story

I received and ARC of this book. Thank you for the opportunity!

This was my first read by Anne Thyssen. The book was well written, page turner! My heart went out to our MMC. His whole story arc was so heart wrenching.

Our FMC, Samir’s, is fiercely determined. That is…until she meets Jaze. While the coach pushes her forward toward her dreams. It’s really Jaze and her that being out the best in one another and help each other overcome their personal trauma and obstacles.

I loved this story, hockey holds a personal place in my heart.

Healing Ice was the best treat for mne after a very hectic week! It exceeded my expectations and left me wishing for more of this amazing couple. I just finished it and I miss them already.
I've read multiple of Anne's books and honestly, I don't know how she does it, but every one of her books is exceptional, and she's outdone herself with this one.
Healing Ice is my first hockey romance and It gave me a lot of insight on this foreign world to me.
The book deals with loss, trauma and family tension.
Highley recommended, five stars!!!

Healing Ice touches upon multiple themes including love, overcoming fears, and rediscovering oneself. Readers journey with Samira and Jaze as they meet, become friends, and fall in love.

Readers will connect with the characters due to their relatable nature. Samira is determined to achieve the goals her and her father set. she struggles to make time for herself and other people. Jaze goes through a bit of trauma in the beginning of the book, which has him fearing the thing he loves most. Healing Ice shows the importance of never giving up.

Jaze and Samira are both dealing with trauma, family pressures and high expectations. They have a lot going on but find time to escape in each other. They bond, connect and have some yummy spicy times together. The writing pulls you in right away and I liked the flashbacks to bring more context of what the characters are going through.
Don't want to give much away, but seeing these two navigate the chaos of their lives and figuring out what they really want - especially when those choices might be taken away was an absolute pleasure.

I can't get into this, which is unfortunate because I really did want to love it. there's definitely potential there, the writing is great and easy to read. but I feel no connection to the characters, and their relationship comes across way too insta-love for me. I also feel like the plot could have been built up a bit more, up to the point I've read to it's mostly just dialogue between the characters with not much else to keep the story going.

Samira lost her father 8 years ago and she’s fighting to keep their shared dream alive.
Jaze almost died falling through a crack on the ice.
Both have their own journeys & both have their own healing to do.
Jaze & Samira start off as just something physical and it turns into something even more for both of them.
Samira doesn’t realize things as quickly as Jaze. But she does eventually come to the same conclusion as him!

It seemed like both characters has potentially intriguing backstories that could bring them together in a sweet relationship. However, their relationship came on way too strong way too fast for my liking, and the male MC came across as a bit creepy in his aggressive flirting. The plot seemed like it had potential, but while they were fine apart, I couldn't stand the way the two characters interacted with each other.
