They have to clean up, but Gilbert would rather not got his hands dirty. What he needs is ... a bunny with a wild idea!
A hilarious story full of heart and packed with food fights, jumbo jets, banana smoothies and world domination!
From the creator of Funny Kid and The Odds comes the best friend you could ever imagine ... Fluff!
Matt Stanton is a bestselling children's author and illustrator, with over a quarter of a million books in print. He is the co-creator of seven bestselling picture books, including the mega-hits, There is a Monster Under My Bed Who Farts and This is a Ball. He is launching his much-anticipated middle-grade series, Funny Kid around the world in July 2017.
Fluff Mess Up! is book two in a funny junior graphic novel series about a boy named Gilbert and his best friend Fluff, the imaginary giant bunny who helps him get into all sorts of predicaments.
This book is fast paced taking you quickly from one mess to another as Gilbert and Fluff choose the craziest ways to fix each mess.
As a parent of a picky reader who loves quirky, funny books with a great story but hates the repetition within the stories of junior books, Fluff Mess Up! hits the spot as it is full of adventure which is so far out and crazy you could never predict it.
Best suited for kids aged 7-10, either to read independently or with someone else, depending upon their reading level. 200+ pages may seem daunting until you see that every double page spread has a picture and the text is nice and big, giving young readers a chance to experience a bigger book and enjoy the feeling of success as they finish it.
Trigger warning: Loss of a parent. Although this is a light read which is fun and exciting, it does begin with mentioning the loss of a Father and due to the nature of the story this is glossed over as if this loss is nothing. Those children who have experienced the loss of a parent may find this part triggering.
My Ten year old daughter's review: Title: Fluff Mess up Author: Matt Stanton 3.5 Stars
This book is best for kids aged 5-13 because its funny but feels older because you can’t predict the ending. It’s still good for younger kids because the ending works out.
I haven’t read anything like it before, its quirky and funny but it isn’t stupid quirky like lots of other books. It was just fun!
I liked that there were pictures and not too much writing on each page cause the made it easier to read.
My favourite part was when they talked about Dad’s who sit on the toilet playing on their phone.
Thank you to Harper Collins Australia for this early copy. This review has been written after reading the book with my two daughters and has been given freely.
Gilbert and his big fluffy bunny friend, Fluff are back and boy do they get themselves into a mess! . Matt Stanton is at it again with laugh out loud adventures and mishaps, introducing young readers to short chapters with B&W sketches on each page. . The reader is splat in the middle of a food fight of epic proportions, and ultimately this is a story of dealing with problems as the arise, and if not they can get bigger and messier, jumbo-jet sized (literally) than the original issue. I love the way different living arrangements are normalised - with Gilbert’s father having left the family to be a hero, and the family living in a caravan rather than a house. . I loved these antics of Gilbert and Fluff, and can’t wait to read what they get up to next!

Read as part of the CBCA short list for younger readers. I think I will need to read the notes about it to try and understand why it was chosen. It was fun and a bit silly and I know kids are drawn to that stuff. Gilbert and the Giant Rabbit fluff get up to mischief and make a mess in the caravan and try to go too big too fast with a cleaning company and eventually come to the conclusion that big is not always the best, and not to be greedy and selfish. But can't say I loved it that much.
Absolutely hilarious! This was the first book that has made me laugh out loud while I’m reading it aloud. My daughter and I cackled our way through. Matt Stanton has a crazy sense of humour that we love.
Not great. Sure, it includes the three tenets of kid humour - poo, bums and wee - but it’s an uncomfortable blend of adult and child humour that panders to both yet offers little depth for either. Popularist crud.
