The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 🖤💙❤️💚 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏 Character development: ☹️😮😋😉🥰 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙 Narration type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Rosemarie - she just graduated from college and lost her job as a hospice care nurse in the same week. She loved her job, but apparently needed a masters degree to keep her position. She thinks she might be going crazy, because she has been seeing what she thinks might be the same two gargoyle statues all around town, even near her house. Rather than making her afraid, the appearance of the statues and the fact that she sometimes think she sees them move have only been enhancing her dreams in which they are her protectors.
The Heroes:Jace and Atticus - they are twin gargoyles who are meant to be kings. Though in order to claim their crown, they have to choose a queen to be the future of the bridge of souls. They had chosen a queen in the past. She had to face some trials and if she wins the trials she is able to be queen, but they chose wrong before and once the woman passed the trials, she chose to die rather than be mate to Jace and Atticus forever and they were cursed to be stone guardians of the bridge of souls for a century. This time, Atticus is sure that Rosemarie is their queen, though Jace doesn’t want to chance putting Rosemarie in danger.
The Story: To make Rosemarie their queen, the twins have to get Rosemarie to their realm, and to do that, Atticus hires a demon to sell her to them. They are worried about the danger to Rosemarie, but her self-esteem is pretty low and doesn’t believe that the two of them really want to protect her. She is used to her friends getting all the attention and men ignoring her. She is even more wary when she realizes that they are not just a joke or part of the halloween haunted house tour and are actually gargoyles that have come to life.
I like monster romance because you get all different kinds of plots and storylines. Nothing is just formulaic. In this one I liked the fact that Jace and Atticus were such different characters. Atticus was the grumpy, broody twin who is a bit harsh, but loves his brother and wants Jace to let go of the guild he feels over the suicide of the woman they chose for their queen a hundred years ago, and also Jace has low self esteem over the fact that she chose death over being with him. Jace is the sweet brother who easily falls in love with Rosemarie, but wants to protect her. There is also a good storyline about someone who is out to get Rosemarie.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view and was narrated in dual narration by Kit Swann and Jack Calihan. Kit Swann has a decent voice and is great at sounding natural while being expressive. Jack Calihan sounds a bit old for the two gargoyles. Though his voice isn’t annoying, so I didn’t mind so much. Overall, the narration was ok, but not great.
This is book 3 in the matchmaker monster series, they don't need to be read in order for you to enjoy.
I love Gargoyles and I absolutly loved how the ones in this book were tasked to watch over and protect the rainbow bridge for those crossing over.
its a why choose between Rosemary our fmc and twin gargoyles who have one last chance at choosing the next queen and if they fail they will be forever turned to stone
I really loved our two gargoyles Atticus and Jace. where Jace is fun loving and funny Atticus is serious and will do whatever needs to be done for his brother. even if it means making a deal with a demon.
what I loved: - how open and vulnerable Jace was about his past - The spice...all the gargoyle spice (there's a flying sharing scene) - The mental health & dyslexia rep
4.5 stars. I love the addition of the cute soul guardians in this series. Huey the little owl(who turns into a giant owl with sharp feathers) was absolutely adorable, and I love the mischief he gets into. I also really enjoyed the growth that Rosemarie endured throughout. I do wish we got to hear about the End of the trials, it kind of just skipped over it, but otherwise I really liked the plot too.
The relationships were fun, though I still kind of wanted more to have developed by the end.
It was good, just not great, ya know? I’ll still read more by this author.
Well now I'm sad that I have to wait for the next book.
The story follows Rosemarie, a college graduate who adores her job as a hospice caretaker, only she's let go when she can't secure a masters degree. Dejected and distraught at leaving her patients, she leaves for a night in a haunted house with her best friends to take her mind off of things.
Only instead of finding spirits to lead her to her recently passed grandmother, she's swept up into the arms of two gorgeous Gargoyles that claim to be her protectors, and that she's the future Queen of the bridge that guides the new souls to the after life.
Jace is the large, warrior with a soft heart of gold and a silver tongue. Atticus is always 5 steps ahead, with a penchant for reading smut in the hopes of wooing his future mate. Can she survive not only the trials of becoming Queen, but also the attraction to her new guardians?
I absolutely adored this book and the characters. I loved how soft and sweet Jace was, and how commanding and protective Atticus was. I think the blend of the both of them gave our FMC everything she needed and more and I really think that the writing and pacing improved since the last two books. I was more engaged and found myself skimming a lot less. I now can't wait for Val and Theo's book!
This book was great! It was really engaging the entire time and well written. Great spicy scenes. It can be read by itself even if it’s book 3 of the series. I have every intention of reading the other books after reading this one.
Gleeful Goblin Review: As a child of the 90's who LOVED the Disney cartoon Gargoyles I cannot tell you how tickled pink I was that the author made a direct reference to the show in the first chapter when the two MMC's are talking to each other outside of the hospital where FMC is working. And the way the chapter ends I was HOOKED: “You staying here through the day?” Atticus asks. “To catch up on your cartoons?” I start to argue and then change my mind. I don’t need to explain myself to him. “You should try it. The kids in the pediatric wing watch an animated version of us that’s not bad. Completely unrealistic and with none of the Borderlands, but it’s entertaining.” “I will never understand your fascination with their television shows.” “You’ll wish you’d caught up on the last century or so when you’re trying to talk with Rosemarie.” “I read.” I snort. “Yeah. Quote some old philosophy bullshít to her. I’m sure that’ll win her heart.” “I don’t need to win her heart.” Judging by the change in his tone and his hesitation, he’s lying. I know it. But he keeps talking, and I can’t decide if he’s trying to convince me or himself. “I simply need her to win the crown and take her rightful place as queen.” Did my twin learn nothing from my colossal failure? “Yeah, you keep telling yourself that.” I settle in to wait. “It’s worth staying to watch Rosemarie leave.” Atticus glances toward the east where the sky bleeds to grey in the distance. “Sunrise will be here soon. How much trouble can one human find before then?” If only my twin could use that big brain of his to learn to keep his dámn mouth shut."
I really connected with the FMC of this story on a few levels because just like her I have learning disabilities that have made school really challenging. She has a BA in Social Work which is the general field I've been working in for 10 years now and like her I've also run up against a wall where no matter the experience you have, every job wants a Master's or higher and sometimes not even to get any significant bump in pay. Additionally, I could probably compete with her in the People Pleasing Olympics and give her a stiff competition for gold. Now, a big difference between her and I is that I don't have a prophecy that destined me to be a Gargoyle Queen with two very different but intensely dedicated gargoyle mates to come rescue me from capitalism. MORE'S THE PITY because I would definitely participate in deadly trials as an alternative to this current timeline.
This story is part romance of course but also part urban fantasy vibes imo and I absolutely love the combination playing out here. I am high key obsessed with Huey the Owl and if you've made it this far in the review I'd bet you will be too. 5/5 Stars.

After the death of her grandmother, Lala, Rosemarie has been alone. Well, she has a humungous family, but no one who actually sees her. All she's ever done is give, and all everyone else does is take. But her grandmother took the time to help her overcome her learning disability with tarot and instilled a love of magic in her. After her grandmother's death, she desperately prays that her grandmother's soul will be watched over and cared for on her final journey. Little does she know, those prayers where overheard. Now they want to care for her.
Jace and Atticus are twin gargoyles. Years ago, they brought a queen candidate for the trials, only to have her choose death over loving them. They were senenced to stone for a century. Now they have one chance to try again. If they fail, they will be destroyed. But they know Rosemarie can win. They watch her from the shadows every night as she works in the hospital taking care of others. The brothers are torn. Jace doesn't want Rosemarie to compete because he's terrified of history repeating itself. But Atticus refuses to watch his brother be put to death, so she must compete.
I loved this story the most (probably because I adore gargoyles and reverse harems), but there were a couple of things that irked me enough that I had to remove a star. 1. The bad guy was obvious. I'm not going to spoilers, but as soon as we are introduced to the character I was like "yup, he's going to double cross them" and I was right. Being predictable always ruins the story for me. 2. One of the diviners physically assaults his queen candidate. She was brought in chains and was beaten in front of everyone. She arrives at the trials covered in bruises. Yet he's never punished at all. That deserves some justice, I'm sorry. I know she wasn't important enough to even have a name, but come on. Jerks need punishment and there's no reason not to in a fiction book.
Jace and Atticus are gargoyles and they need to find a proper future Queen for the gargoyle people. The Queen deals with the dead that go over the Bridge and the current Queen isn’t doing her job. Learning about their past broke my heart and I wanted to hug them. Atticus is the more strategic twin brother, while Jace likes human tv and collects things. I found them adorable. Rosemarie and her three friends are celebrating their graduation by going to a haunted house. However, there are a lot of dimensional doorways there. Each woman is to be the mate of someone from a dimension. If Rosemarie passes the Bridge’s test against the other 3 contenders, she will become Queen and then she gets to choose her mate(s). Theo is a dealing demon and he got the women to the haunted house for their mates. I really enjoyed how there are tarot cards and crystals in this book and there is so much going on. Learning about Rosemarie’s gran that has just passed away, was different and cool. There are some major fight scenes and I figured out quite a few things quickly. I read this book first and then went back to read the first two. I loved them all and I can’t wait for the next book out. The mom’s of the other women are terrifying and that’s just from them being talked about lol. When you meet them in the first two books - it’s whoa! I laughed a lot in the book and giggled quite a bit. Huey is awesome. Brownies (fae not food) and Orcs and dragons, oh my! So many different creatures in this book. I had a lot of fun. Next up is Val. I can’t wait! It’s gonna be good. Her mate is in soooo much trouble! Lol. Rosemarie’s gran being called Lala had me laughing because that’s what my mom called me.

This book took me by surprise. The writing is captivating and so descriptive that it's easy to visualize everything in this world and all the characters living there. The two gargoyles were so well described that I could envision them in my mind, which left me wanting these two in my reality, sweeping me off my feet (literally), and wishing they were mine for all time LOL.
On the other hand, I was not expecting to find myself connecting with the main female character, Rosemarie. She has a hidden strength behind her, yet her mind is her own worst enemy with all her doubts about herself. However, I never found that this character flaw was overwhelming to the story. When she has a moment of clarification, she says, "Here, I don't have to decide, to choose, to save anyone, to make everyone happy, to play a role that's expected of me. I simply have to give over. It's such a monumental relief,..." I found myself seeking to find where I could have this clarity too.
The relationship between Rosemarie and the gargoyles develops at a natural pace that I appreciate; while it could be considered a slow-burn, it doesn't feel that way when reading it. When the spice finally comes, it is deliciously hot! I seriously enjoyed this book! I cannot wait to read more titles from Luna Joya!.

Wow what a story this was to read! It was exciting, heartfelt, and boy oh boy were the characters interesting. Right from the start when the two brothers who are Gargoyles Jace and Atticus are watching over Rosemarie, you get a sence of urgency. However making Rosemarie there Queen would be alot more difficult. Rosemarie works in a hospital helping people at the end of their lives, making things more comfortable for them, her grandmother Luna has died and she misses her completely. She thinks she sees the Gargoyles looking at her but she put that out of her head, but when she was in danger they certainly were there helping her out. But what comes next for Rosemarie is certainly mind boggling. The men tell her she thinks that she is the queen . But first she has to go though trials. Only Jace and Atticus are nervous and still not sure, the last person they had for the queen died by her own hand rather than choose them. Will this be the same.
This story really is a must read, theres so much in this story and its a wonderful book because it keeps you guessing about what is going to happen next! For me im definately going to look into the other stories this author has written especially if they are as good as this one!!!.
This a really great book and the main characters took me on a ride I didn’t want to get off with magic, mystery, Tarod cards, spiritual journey, spice and mostly being loved. Rosemarie is a human and a CNA nurse with dyslexia and gets treated badly by her family except her grandmother who has taught her everything she knows but want she longs for is someone to love and treat her right. After Graduating they go to a hunted house party where they will be mated to monsters and Rosemarie gets two Gargoyles Jace and Atticus who the Future Kings of there world and need a Queen and Rosemarie has been chosen but she must pass the Royal Trials first to be there Queen. Jace and Atticus are Gargoyles who turn to stone at sunset as there punishment for letting there previous Queen die but they get another chance and ask a matchmaker for help and she tells them that Rosemarie is the one for them and now they finally have there new Queen and will love and cherish her but can she win the trials and give them back there Kingdom and there people. How does it all turn out in the end well get this book to find out for yourself you wont be disappointed.

Rosemarie is a caregiver but has dyslexia. So it was hard when in college. She has a degree but her grades aren't high enough for other programs she wants in. For months she's felt that she was being watched. She notices the gargoyles and even thinks she's seen them at night. She's agreed to go to a haunted house mainly because she wants to do a seance to talk to her Lala. She was going to tell her something but passed before she could. Then total chaos happens. The next thing she knows is that her two gargoyles are in front of her live and in charge. They take her into their realm where the Bridge of Stone is located. Atticus and Jace, twins, spent a century in stone form because their choice of queen took her life instead of being with them. Now they've chosen Rosemarie. They feel she will win because she has what a Queen for the Bridge needs. But obstacles are thrown into their path almost daily. Will they be able to keep her safe? Alive? Will she win? A fascinating and exciting story where the reader will swoon in between wanting to whack the twins upside their heads.

I don't want to write a review for this. It's a waste of time. I make all my points below. God I'm sick of these books that can't write a real relationship with charisma/chemistry/or conflict. This shit's boring without even spice to make it fun or endearing.
Why do I do this to myself? -The guys being so oversensitive is getting old so fast my God. One of the three must have some kind of resilience! -This is so dumb -I finished this book and had to go back 40 minutes and slow it down because I was so confused by the sudden climax, if we can call it that.
Alright 2 hours in and we've already started BINGO:
-People pleasing nice girl (who's randomly tough) - A nice addition I'm sure I'll get a lot of uses out of. Codependency isn't a quirky fun trait. -Infantilizing - "she's adorable when she's mad" "she's so cute like that" Gag. -huge age gap -obvious worship kink masked as "healthy concern" -Conflict? Hardly an inconvenience - Like, fr? Nothing happens throughout and then everything happens. And the author wants me to be wowed by a mystery she hardly set up nor gave credence to? Oh, was the only other named gargoyle the bad guy? That's crazy? And for super obvious reasons that anyone should have paid attention to? Also crazy. It would've been great for the reader to be clued in on any of that rather than a rug pull at the end. Clumsy.

Rosemarie has felt invisible all her life. Her great grandmother LaLa loved her, for who she is. She taught Rosemarie to read the tarot cards, about gems, and stones. LaLa also taught her about the other world separate from earth. Rosemarie was given to twin gargoyle brothers. She was taken to another realm. Jace and Atticus realize the she is their Queen, and fated mate. They lost a candidate a century ago. They were punished to turn to stone at sunset. Rosemarie has to win the royal selection trial. She also has an owl soul guardian, with massive powers. If she wins, the bridge will be restored? What will happen? Will the dead languish forever? I really enjoyed reading this book!!!! The storyline was slow at first. The book has magic, prophecy, guardians, love, lust, death, and hea!!!!.

I love this series and this book was excellent. I loved the characters, Atticus and Jace, Gargoyles, suffered a loss with the last woman they had picked to be queen when she jumped from the bridge of souls and they were punished severely and now they have a second chance to redeem themselves but if they fail this time the punishment will be a lot more severe. Atticus bargains with a matchmaker demon, something that is strictly forbidden, in order to bring their new candidate, Rosemarie, to their world in order to enter the trials which will determine the new queen. But not everyone is as they seem and Rosemarie's life is in serious danger but it turns out that Rosemarie is a lot stronger than even she knew and the fact that Jace and Atticus are her mates gives her the extra oomph she needs. The story kept me enthralled from start to finish.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this book. Paranormal Romance has sucked me in last year and this was my first Gargoyle based one. Romance wise it was way more tame than some of my latest reads but it was still a great read. The main character, Rosemarie working hospice, into crystals, and tarot despite some of that being more of a reminder of her Lala calls to me since I am a CNA for hospice and am also into crystals and tarot cards. The two Gargoyles trying to save their realm, and themselves by trying to find their new queen and hopefully mate and the story line building from there, the characters all growing to do what they need to do. I just absolutely loved the whole book. If not for work I would have had this book read in maybe a day and a half.

Twin gargoyles Atticus and Jace, both with very different personalities, are put to the test in a final opportunity to find the next Gargoyle Queen. Failure to do so this time would turn the two of them to stone and present other disastrous consequences. They have been watching the human Rosemarie and she has indeed thought she noticed them but seems to shrug it off. I enjoyed the pacing of the relationship that developed among Rosemarie and the twin gargoyles. It may start slowly, but it definitely does bring them together! They face challenges. Can the guys keep her safe? How will she perform on the selection trials? Will her own hidden strengths come through for her? And is the HEA that seems to be waiting for her a definite promise or will something go wrong before they find their connection?
Once again, Luna has written a great story in an amazing realm with relatable characters and fantastic monster romance. I loved the FMC and her struggle to love herself. I adored the twins and their dichotomy-Jace the big marshmallow fluff, and Atticus the calculating commander. I loved their relationships and how the story came together. I also loved the unexpected twist at the end.
However, as with the other two stories, I was annoyed by the rushed ending and the plot hole regarding Cutter’s candidate.
If you’re here for the spice and don’t care as much for the plot, then you’ll be rather satisfied. But if you’re here for both, that ending will leave you a little unsatisfied. Still worth reading, but it’s unfortunate when the potential to be great was right there within reach.
OKAY. This was my favorite of the series so far. I loved that our FMC felt the shame of not living up to the potential she felt she should be. Like she should be doing MORE with her life. This is insanely relatable, especially in today's world. One thing I didn't love was that they kept bringing up the previous girl who was supposed to be queen. Through the whole book, our FMC was compared to Dyphena and it felt almost like she was just simply a replacement for Dyphena. It felt icky every once in a while when they brought up the whole situation. -Insta-love (but not like....cringy insta-love, ya know what I mean?) -He (they) fell first -no third act breakup -mysterious dark magic coming from a character you don't expect -building trust and helping someone see their potential -threesome :) -tail play.... that was something I didn't know I needed in my life
I loved this book!!!📕 I could not put it down but work would interrupt my reading 😞. If you like fated mates then this is for you. The story is well written and I love how Rosemarie is relatable. She has a large family, has a learning disabilities, and is a people pleaser. As someone who has realized that I too am a people pleaser I feel that she was portrayed well at times I felt like I was reading about myself which made the story more enjoyable. The whole book flows very well and there were no filler portions. There is spice that I think is 🌶️ 3/5 but it felt like it didn’t take over the story. My favorite parts were getting to see a sneak peak of another book in the series and art of the soul guardians!
Twin gargoyles, Atticus and Jace, face dire consequences if they fail to find a queen. Tasked with protecting the realms, they must convince their unsuspecting fated mate, Rosemarie (h), a human with mystical abilities, to embrace her destiny. With royal selection trials ahead and a centuries-old rivalry looming, Rosemarie must navigate her newfound role as queen with hidden strengths while battling her own insecurities and grappling with challenges that could reshape the realms. As she forms bonds with the charming yet serious Atticus and the fun-loving Jace, she learns the true extent of her powers, friendship, and love. Hot and steamy, slow-burn human-gargoyle fated mates menage romance set in a world of magic and monsters.
4 1/2 stars = This reverse harem story by Luna Joya was the first I've read by this author and the third story among this Matchmaker Monster series was an enjoyable read. This standalone is about Atticus and Jace our exiled would to be King gargoyles and Rosemarie our spiritualistic human who works as a nurse who's their chosen Queen. The story was entertaining to read about the queen trials that Rosemarie must win, the chemistry that simmers between them, their fears of being rejected again and being sentenced again, and our sidekick magical owl in this copy I'd received and volunteer to review.
Reread 5/31/2025: I tried this book again after finishing the first two of the series, and I feel like that helped me know what to expect here. The protagonist is the least relatable out of the three, and while her narrator was fantastic, the mmcs' narrator had a really repetetive intonation that grated on me coupled with the main character's affinity for woo woo. It was fine. I'll probably forget about it in six months.
Original Read: 12/2024: DNF 18%. Just not what I wanted. I hate reading books where the main character is in constant grief over a family member and references it every 5 pages. The love interests were a little cringe as well.
This book made me smile. I loved all the magic in this book and it gives you the feeling that love can do great things. Rosemarie is such a kind hearted soul and I just adore Jace and Atticus. I also loved Huey the little owl. This book had a little of everything that made me happy. It had it's ups and downs but I like that it had mostly made me smile and there was some spice in there as well. Definitely made me love gargoyles even more than I did before.

Rosamarie day has gone from bad to worse, but when she goes with her friends to see a haunted house, her entire world is turned upside down. Jace and Atticus want her to be their queen - can she shed her doubts and be what it takes? This story was wonderfully magical, with two tough yet squishy gargoyles and Rosamarie, who I loved for her inner strength and her ability to rise above. I haven’t read the rest of the stories in this series, but now I really want to find out Ava, Val and Meg!
Honestly, not my favorite. It wasn't bad, but I really didn't enjoy this one as much as the others in the series, the Kraken being my favorite. It was okay for being a poly relationship with her as the center. It showed that in a healthy way, I just didn't quite grasp the reason why she was sent into that situation in the first place. I just felt there wasn't a reason, for most of it other than to focus on sex. Which fair, it's a monster romance, but there didn't feel like a ton of romance. I did enjoy the gargoyle characters though. They were very entertaining and I would have been happy to just delve more into their lives and history or just more about them in general.
As with her whole monster matched series I absolutely LOVED THIS BOOK! I loved seeing the why choose reverse harem and the dimensions of each character are amazing. I loved seeing the female mc overcoming and struggling with her learning disability because that affects my life every day. The characters are real and relatable it makes me especially want two stone hard protectors watching my back so I can become queen.
I was hooked from the beginning. It started out a little slow to build up the three main characters, but it pumped on the gas once it got going. I loved everything about this book. The world. The creatures. The relationship between Rosiemarie, Jace, and Atticus. This is a slow burn but boy is it worth it. The spice is so good!

ATTICUS, JACE, AND ROSEMARIE (TWIN GARGOYLES AND A HUMAN)
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.
Rosemarie is a human with dyslexia and a large family who doesn’t appreciate her. It seems that no one does. Enter Jane and Atticus, twin gargoyles who are looking for their queen. Once in the realm, Rosemarie meets all kinds of monsters, good and bad. This story will keep you on your tows with everything that is happening.
I really really enjoyed this book. There was humor, spice, angst, danger, growth, and magical moments. The world building was pretty good, tho a little more detail would be nice. The characters had solid, unique personalities and backgrounds. The spice is like 3/5 (and definitely monstrous). My biggest regret with this book is that there is so much skipping of what feels like important information. Overall a good book, must read more of the series!
