This one was just okay to me. In this book we look more into the vow For Better and For Worse with Yolanda and Leland. The way the book was written it made you think the worse with Leland was something which it turned out it was not and when we find out what it was it was a little surprising.

Once you learn the backstory to what his worse is you get a better understanding for why he is doing what he does but to me it just seemed a little farfetched and not something I would imagine a spouse putting up with to honor the vow for better or worse. I will say I thought it was nice the way that Yolanda supported him with his family but I understood her position as well.

Yolanda Artie is not only in ministry, but a Professor of Theology, who has been married for 11 years. From the outside, things seem okay (definitely not perfect), but on the inside, her husband Leland is hiding a deep, dark secret. Determined to honor her vows, Yolanda seeks individual and couples therapy. It is here that the root of Martin’s issues are revealed, and she must decide if she must move on, or stick it out…for better and for worse.

I actually felt sorry for Leland, once all was revealed. Do I think he could’ve fought harder for his marriage…I do. But, I also respect him for being true to himself. The plot twist was a kicker, and the author came thru with scripture and prayer. Whenever I read one of her books, I go down a rabbit hole and have to pull myself away. My favorite character goes to Yolandaand my least favorite is Leland’s father.

Once again, I didn’t choose this series, but instead it chose me. I will continue to follow the steps that have been ordered. If you haven’t read this series by @kishajohnson, I highly recommend that you check it out for yourself.

"For Better and For Worse: What Did You Vow?" By Lakisha Johnson

My Thoughts:

This author gave us quite an excellent read of Yolanda and Leland. They had been married for over eleven years, but Yolanda knew something was wrong for the past six months. When she asked her husband what was going on, Leland said nothing. However, as things began to come out, Yolanda was shocked. This is when: 'For Better and For Worse' comes out. Will they be able to keep the vow after all is said and done?

I don't want to tell too much of the story. I was hoping you could read this good book by this author. It will give you something to think about long after the read.

Vows

This is the second installment in the What Did You Vow Series from this author. It gets better with each one. It leaves the discussion open about marriage and vows. It makes you ponder on what you’re willing to do in a marriage and how much you’re willing to give and sacrifice of yourself. It’s definitely worth reading, especially if you’re married or about to embark on holy matrimony. Ms. Johnson really has you thinking in this second installment. It’s a very good read. I definitely recommend it.

For Better and For Worse (Book 2)

This book is romantic, emotional and suspenseful. Yolanda married Lenard and after 10 plus years they start having problems. Knowing Yolanda is a pastor and professor the stand off affect her daily living, so she ask questions and she prayed which led her to her husband work place. Wow This is where Yolanda found out that her husband is a cross dresser. They went through counselling back to his father where it begins but unfortunately they divorce. Short spicy story. Good read.

Awwwwwww this was bittersweet!!!!

I hated this reality for Yolanda but I’m glad she didn’t settle. Starting over is never easy especially after you’ve invested so much time into someone and genuinely loved them with everything in you. This read pulled at my heart strings definitely but reminded me how important it is for people to live in their truth. You never know who it’ll hurt. Leland went through a lot but I’m glad she could help him heal and let go. I loved this better than the first book.

Loving this series so far

I always enjoy Mrs. Johnson's books. Her stories in mg opinion always seem like real life experiences. Although it might not be your experience somebody is or has gone through with it. And that's what I like the most. I liked the storyline and characters of For Better And Worse. I like the message behind in it. These books really make you think what did I vow?

Wow 😮😭

Lakisha Johnson did it again! I loved this story about Leland and Yolanda. At first I didn’t know what was going on with Leland, but once his secret was revealed I was cried for him because no child should have to endure what he did. I was angry with his father and disgusted by his aunt. In the end I hurt for them both but most of all Yolanda. Her decision was a hard one and no one knows how they would handle it until they are in that situation. Great story 👍🏾

Living The Life That's Inside Of You

Lakisha Johnson. Interesting read. I can only imagine how Yolanda felt. In the Church housethings are still looked upon as do as I say not as I do. Being very judgmental. My heart goes out to Leland. I think he made some harsh decisions and didn't have the faith. It was a great read forme though. I'm glad they both are living their lives🤗🤗🤗😆

Secrets Kept

The story of Leland and Yolanda was so surprising to me. Honesty is always best because it gives the other person the right to choose before things get intertwined and time is wasted . I know trauma can cause people operate in strange ways. I can definitely say Yolanda handled things amazingly well. I know I agree with her decision. As I always say in relationship somethings are non- negotiable.

The secret is shocking

After reading book 1, I was itching to read book 2 and honestly it’s only getting better . I can’t wait to read book 3. I am loving Lakisha’s writing and how she makes an unexpected story so engaging and educational.
I didn’t think the secret her husband was keeping juicy and unpredictable.

If you’re contemplating, if you should start this series, then my answer to you is definitely!
You won’t regret it

more please!

Why the ending of this relationship tore at my heart strings. It was like a good romance movie where you were happy for them being so mature about it, but you wanted their marriage to be that forever, ever, ever, ever. Would I have stayed, nah!
I will say that at the beginning when I read this was going to be a series, I was excited to see what’s next!

Torn

Muddled water blinds us to clearly see what is before us. Trust and communication goes far within any relationship which will avoid anyone to hold you in contempt of outing your secrets. Take your transgressions to God follow and listen to instructions received through and from HER.

Page Turner!❤️

Wow oh wow!! This was everything!! I’m actually speechless because so much of church folks, issues and this is real life. So much damage is done in childhood that is showing up in adulthood!!

I think this is a great read for a book club and also marriage ministries.

Better or Worse

The issue addressed was one that's not often spoken of. It was one thing for Leland to suffer from effects of childhood abuse but an entirely different thing to remain mute and have Yolanda looking overly dramatic. His lack of trust questions the love he had for her. She showed abundant love when she supported him and I feel like she made the right choice.

Grace, Mercy and Forgiveness

Lakisha Johnson has penned another thought-provoking, action-packed story! I appreciate your scripture references. I love how Yolanda handled the shocking discovery about her husband, Leland. Several real issues pop up. It makes you really think about the vows you say when you get married. I love book 2 in this series and you will too!

Loved everything about this series

I'm so sad for Leland and Yolanda. I wish they didn't have to go through what they went through. So many people go through stuff like this. But trusting God will help them heal every time. Leland, dad, and Auntie were cruel and crazy. Barry got just what he deserved. Thanks for sharing 👍

Whew

This was good, and not what I expected. Again, Lakisha Johnson will have you thinking. We never know what someone has go through, we all have a story. This book shows we can be angry, but at the end of the day love conquers all. Pakistan shows us no matter what the situation give the same amount if grace God has shown us. I recommend this series.

For Better and For Worse: What Did You Vow?

Enjoyed this one as much as book 1. Was surprised to find out about Leland, loved the ending even though Yolanda had to do what she did. Really enjoy reading Pakistan Johnson's books.

For Better and For Worse: What Did You Vow?

I found this book to be interesting. A spin on the importance of knowing your partner to be and making sure you discuss how you both interrupt the vows you will be taking. I was not prepared for the outcome; it was a huge surprise!

Delightful

This was an absolutely delightful read I'm happy that Leland was able to come to terms with his life I hate that it hurt Yolanda but I understand why she did what she did that was a hard pill to swallow but they will remain friends and that's the important part

For Better and For Worse is a powerful thing, to what extent do we take these vows, how do we determine what is the worst? When we can’t take it anymore because we are hurt or because we are embarrassed of the situation. What determines For Better and For Worse?

Through good and bad times

This was a very good read. A lot of turns in a surprising way. I love how scriptures backed up anything I was uncertain about! I enjoyed it so much finished the same night made me think about how to handle situations.

My word

This author writes and discusses topics that are seldom discussed in our churches and everyday lives. She makes me think, think about my beliefs concerning hard issues. I am inspired by her ministry and books.

For better or worse...

This book is eye-opening for me. It shows we never know what causes an individual to choose a lifestyle. The storyline shared so many emotions. Again, Lakisha's mastered the wedding vows' interpretation. Can't wait to discuss with the bookclub.

Very good story

This was a really good story but very different than I expected. It had me wanting to read to the end and had me putting myself in Yolanda as shoes.

I'm glad Leland got to reveal his true self but felt sorry for how it was revealed to Yolanda.

This book was a very emotional read for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yolanda and Leland’s story was one of trial’s and tribulations. I’m glad they both were able to find peace in the end of it!
