Wild Creek Whispers

For Wyoming private investigator Reese Golden, cases like skip tracing and background checks pay the bills and keep her from becoming too emotionally involved. But when she's asked to find Daisy, a four-year-old girl who's been missing for a few weeks, Reese can't say no to the girl's distraught mother.

Unfortunately, the police and the FBI haven't come up with any leads. And as soon as she takes the case, Reese immediately becomes a target -- nearly getting run over by a motorcycle. But Daisy must be alive if someone is determined to stop Reese from searching. Could Daisy's absent father be the kidnapper? Could it be someone from the mother's past? From the backcountry wilderness to jagged mountain bluffs, Reese can't stop until she finds the missing girl. With a child's life at stake, she won't back down.

PI Reese Golden got out of police work after she was shot and her partner also wounded, but now she takes on a case to find a kidnap victim. The police in the town have tried but were unsuccessful, but Reese is determined.

As she goes about looking for clues and following them, it's clear someone wants her to go away, putting her in danger several different times. But she seems to be cat-like, a person with nine lives. Question is, will she use them all up before finding the child?

And when she does locate little Daisy, who is going to end up dead or injured? Not Daisy, not Reese? What about the sheriff who seems interested in Reese, even as he warns her off her search?

This was a good read. It was my first time reading anything from this author. Liked her main character and how the plot developed.
