Rhett Samuelson has always been driven to search for his purpose and his path. Through tragedy and loss, he’d had to start over alone, and struggled to find his place within the Beckett family. His purpose shifted into making a life for himself, to one day dedicating that life to helping others, and to find the happiness his mother had always wanted for him. When good intentions led to harsh consequences, Rhett found himself on an unexpected path. The birth of his daughter brought new challenges, but it also brought a love and meaning to his life that he’d been missing. For her, he’d created a stable life, and had become the father that he’d never had himself.
Ivy Littleton grew up dreaming of the day when she could be on her own. With few opportunities, little hope, and plenty of obstacles in her way, Ivy learned early on that she could only count on herself. That was until the day that fate stepped in, when her life changed for the better, and she gained a friend and ally she never saw coming. With Rhett, Ivy learned how to trust and believe in someone. As well as allowing, for the first time, another person to care for her. Their friendship blossomed as her confidence grew, and they quickly became each other’s purpose. Until it was all ripped away and torn apart, and Ivy was yet again left to figure things out alone.
With the past behind them but not completely healed, Rhett and Ivy became comfortable in their roles as best friends and co-parents to Aubrey. Too comfortable. Safe. Unwilling and too scared to see one another beyond those two roles.
Until things begin to shift, when new interests and new opportunities arise, and life isn’t as comfortable as it always has been before. Both of them struggle to face what the future could hold for them, for their friendship, for their family, and how inevitable change will alter the life they’d built together.
At the same time, Rhett is being pulled into old issues, into danger, and into loose ends that need to be tied. And until those are settled, Rhett and Ivy’s future together remains uncertain.
Shaw Creek Special Ops Series: 1. Aiden 2. Jaxon 3. Mason 4. Rhett 5. Will 6. Hector 7. Cole
I can't recommend this book enough! Rhett is a powerful story that delves into the complexities of love and loss, while still looking toward the future. Through the intertwined narratives of Rhett and Ivy, the novel explores themes of overcoming trauma, the strength of friendship, and the courage to navigate change.
Rhett, haunted by a difficult past, dedicates his life to building a stable existence for himself and his daughter, Aubrey. Ivy, having learned to rely solely on herself, finds unexpected support and trust in Rhett. Their connection blossoms, forming a beautiful bond that transcends friendship and becomes a source of shared purpose.
However, comfort breeds complacency, and Rhett and Ivy soon find themselves stuck in a familiar routine, hesitant to acknowledge the deeper feelings simmering beneath the surface. The arrival of new opportunities and lingering unresolved issues from the past disrupt their equilibrium, forcing them to confront their fears and redefine their relationship.
D. Lynnette excels at portraying the emotional struggles of her characters. Rhett's journey from isolation to embracing vulnerability is touching, while Ivy's transformation from self-reliance to learning to trust is both relatable and inspiring. Their dynamic as co-parents and friends feels genuine and heartwarming.
The novel expertly interweaves Rhett and Ivy’s past with their present, adding depth and nuance to their characters. The unresolved danger lurking in the shadows adds a layer of suspense, keeping the reader engaged as they anticipate the inevitable reckoning.
Rhett is a captivating read that offers a heartwarming and hopeful exploration of love, loss, and the transformative power of human connection. With its relatable characters, emotional depth, and engaging storyline, this novel is sure to resonate with readers.
Overall, Rhett is a recommended read for those seeking a heartfelt story about self-discovery, the courage to love, and the unwavering strength of friendship.
Just when you thought you knew the characters in these stories, we get the chance to peel back even more layers to truly come to know and love them. This round, we get to explore two characters that have been happy to lay low in the previous encounters, but it’s time for them to shine center stage as we, the reader, get a chance to really dive into not only their story, but also their pasts. Rhett Samuelson and Ivy Littleton have built a comfortable life for themselves, navigating from friends, to estranged, and back to friends and co-parents, but their journey has been anything but easy. While their romance has been staged from the beginning of the series, now it’s time to finally let it kindle. Theirs is the ultimate slow-burn and it’ll take more than just a few glances and feelings to get them to move out of the safety they have created.
Through flashbacks cleverly interwoven into the current story, the tale of these two characters starts to heat up and the time has come for them to finally make their moves, if only they can battle through deep-seated fears, guilt, and a history that is loathe to them move on from it. But in the meantime, past threats cannot be ignored and Gabriel Andino, not to mention the two mafia leaders he’s managed to enrage, is not a man to be ignored. The walls are closing in, dark secrets are finally coming to light, and time is running out as Gabriel’s world begins to unravel thread by thread.
If you’ve enjoyed this family and these characters before, you are not going to be disappointed with this next installment! Family and connections are center stage here, whether it’s the ones you were born with or were lucky enough to choose, and it’s a heartwarming journey to watch these two characters overcome so much to build the lives they’ve always deserved.
Full disclosure, Rhett is the only one who I picture as what has been suggested on the Pinterest boards. I will admit at this time that I cannot help but picture Aiden as Ryan Dunn. I did not have any input when my brain decided this and it has unfortunately become canon for me at this point and cannot be changed. Anyway.
The drama! This book and part two somehow turned it up a notch. The switch has been flipped and the emotions are emotioning. I think because we KNOW them, I mean we KNOW them already, that we are already invested and it is just more intense (somehow!?) than previous books. I want to come up on those kids sitting at that library table and just clunk their heads together and say STOP IT. Also, Constance fully pissed me off a couple of times with Ivy. In the end that just made me love her character more (Constance) because it is true to who she is. As a fellow crazy mother, there are times I have been wrong when attempting to protect my kids. Difficult to always be on point when you have a hair trigger... I know.
Consider this my written review for part one and two. I got so angry reading this book and unlike with Jaxon's book where I was left a little sad that some of the side characters did not make appearances in following books - I am happy and hopeful that I will never have to mentally picture Jessa again. Evil lady, 0/10.

The saga continues. Rhett Part 1 continues the plots established in Shaw Creek over the last three books of the series but also covers the past in a series of flashbacks that give us a deeper insight into the history of Rhett and Ivy. The book beautifully connects these flashbacks and current events with little threads of continuity and gives us a better look at the relationship these two perfect souls have. Can Rhett and Ivy finally see what everyone else around them has known forever? Can they finally let themselves be happy?
Oh, and Gabriel is starting to go crazy. Also very important.
As a devoted reader, I’m excited to see this book takes things to the next level with the friends to lovers trope and am excited to see what’s next for this couple in the following book.
If you’ve loved the previous books in the series, you’re sure to love this one just as much. Ivy and Rhett just go together like peanut butter and honey.
This series is out of this world! Rhett(part one) does not disappoint and picks up right where Mason left off. The seamless transition from main character to main character is one of the things that makes this series so wonderful. D. Lynnette gives us the chance to get to know each character individually while also having one continuous story line that we can’t wait to see play out. Rhett shows the walls closing in on Gabriel, and we finallllllly get to see the backstory between Rhett and Ivy! If you’re following the story you will love this next installment, and if you haven’t read the series I highly suggest you start! You will not be disappointed!
Another great story from D. Lynette. Once again, I had the pleasure of reading this as a Beta/ARC reader and just like the three previous books it did not disappoint. From the beginning of the series Rhett has stood out as the silent/broody type. A man of few words but a heart of gold. This book brought out the Rhett readers have all longed to know. And Ivy, sweet Ivy ...in this book we learn more about sweet, loveable Ivy and everything that brought her to become the Ivy we have grown to love. I would highly recommend this book to anyone ...but you must read the other books in the series first.
Ohhh the men of Shaw Creek! This book here has me on the edge of my seat and wanting the second book in my hands now. To get the back story of two people searching for a way to make it okay to have stronger feelings for each other other than friendship, but have gone thru so much pain and heartache in the past is absolutely wonderful. Thank you D. Lynnette for providing that in this book it is definitely a welcome part of the story.
Can’t wait for some more trilling events and romance soon.
D Lynnette has done it again, pulled you in with her characters with this series, and made you laugh, cry, sighand be scared witless. The subject matter is disturbing but accurate and needs to be something everyone should be aware of. Can't wait for the next book. The flash backe scence of Rhett and Ivy are my favorite parts of the book.
As I stated in my BIO... I just absolutely love this series. Looking forward to the last book, but I don't want it to end. This series starts with "Aiden" and can be found in Kindle Unlimited. I highly recommend!!! I have to say it is one of my top 5 series EVER READ!
D. Lynnette does it again, this time with my favorite Beckett (Samuelson) brother: Rhett. I have been a fan of Rhett literally since book one of this series so I was incredibly eager to get my hands on this book to view things through his remarkable green eyes.
This continuation of the larger story at hand is not lost while also weaving in the stories of the brothers and their lives. It is so much to tackle yet D does it in a way that feels natural and effortless.
This installation of the Beckett brothers also gives us something we haven't seen much of yet: flashbacks and lots of back story. While so many authors struggle with a dual storyline, this one felt fresh and only added to the understanding of the characters rather than detract from it.
Not only are we seeing the world according to Rhett, we get to learn about Ivy's perspective as well. And I am not sure if I have ever related to a character more than Ivy. I'm rooting for her as much as I'm learning to root for myself.
This book has heart and romance, but also suspense and tension, and it is balanced beautifully. My favorite of the series so far!
