In October 1998 President Gordon B. Hinckley announced that 'in all likelihood, we will have 100 or more temples operating in the year 2000.' Commemorating this season of unprecedented temple building, bestselling artist Chad S. Hawkins combines his unique drawings of temples throughout the world with historical summaries and inspirational stories about the first 100 temples.Never before has one artist accomplished the monumental task of creating illustrations of so many different temples. Each drawing has incorporated Chad's signature 'hidden' images, representing an important event related to that particular temple. Numerous interviews and extensive research have resulted in a work that is informative and spiritually uplifting. Designed as a tribute to the sacrifice and commitment of those who labored to make temples 'dot the earth,' The First 100 Temples will be a cherished keepsake for generations to come.
A true treasure. My mom had written some notes and attached a couple postcards and a temple dedication to its pages so I wrote in my own also. I love to see the Temple and go inside!!
I’ve had this book for years and skimmed through it several times. Finally read it cover to cover. Lots of tidbits about the building of the first one hundred temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints.
This book is a collector's item. It has many beautiful sketches of the temples all around the world. It was interesting to read about the stories and facts dealing with many of the new far-flung temples in the world. Thanks to the vision of Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley and the other leaders of the Church, temple worship has been brought closer to the membership of the Church. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to see and know about these temples.
I read this book over a period of a few years. The drawings are beautiful. The tipbits of information on each temple are interesting. I would read about just one temple and feel the spirit of temples and just savor this moment throughout the day.
