This is a book that I read when I was 13. The wonderful story of a lion cub, orphaned, and raised on a large ranch owned by a Christian couple who loved animals. They named her "Little Tyke", and as they were vegetarians, so was the newest addition to their family. Little Tyke, always gentle and loving, had a sweet disposition, and was often pictured lying down with a lamb. She loved children and she made visits to schools and appeared at many events.

Little Tyke grew to full size and remained tame and loving all her life. I read this book many years ago, and don't remember every detail, but it did include many wonderful stories of interactions with this magnificent and loving animal.

I must warn that the ending is not a happy one, but despite that, it's well worth five stars, because in spite of that sadness, the book is not about her end, but a sweet story of her life and the love and joy this beautiful animal brought to so many people in her life. Little Tyke was so loved and she spent her happy life returning that love many times over.
