Spooky short stories for late autumn and winter evenings, entertainment guaranteed

I liked this book with spooky short stories, which will stimulate every kid's imagination. It's fun for adults to read some of these 1-2 page writings to their child, and it's sure to be a great experience for children, especially if they like Halloween.
34 scary short stories that are guaranteed to calm down every little kiddie, making it easier for their parents to put them to bed at night. I recommend this book, which is not too scary, but contains exciting and imaginative little horror stories, to all parents, whose kids like to listen to similar stories.

I am a huge fan of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and this had a lot of similar feel to it. My son loved the scary illustrations. I like the balance of actually scary stories with some that are more mild. But they all had a great uniqness to the stories that were engaging. My kids keep asking me to re-read their favorite stories. I like that each story is relatively short. Most are 1 to 2 pages long. This is a great addition for Halloween for kids who love a good scare. The paperback price was nice too. Haven't seen a book cost that cheap since the 90s book fairs at elementary school.

This book was alright. It didn’t have the scary appeal that “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” or even “Scary Stories to Tell if You Dare” did. Most of the stories were ghost stories, which is fine. However, I personally prefer collections with a variety of scary elements to them, such as ghosts, serial killers, urban legends, animals, etc. I also felt some of the stories could have been developed more; some fell flat for me.

With that being said, some stories I did enjoy were: “Midnight”, “Old Griswald”, and “The Babysitter”.

A plethora of creepy tales to be told at night.
There is something about reading scary story around Halloween. And this book has one too many. They are short and pack a punch. Most of them have unexpected ending that one can't guess. Even the ones that end normally have subliminal eeriness to them.
My favorite was Mom and The Bus.
I would highly recommend reading this book and memorizing the stories. It will add a haunting touch to the ambience when you sit by the fire, camping in the wilderness.

This is a great collection horror stories for kids. It reminds me somewhat of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark but doesn't have the Gammell illistrations. The illustrations are very cool still. The Grinner one is really creepy looking. I like that all the stories are nice and short. I can read one or two to my kids without them feeling like its a super long short story.

This collection is full of short spooky stories written for kids, with creepy creatures, haunted places, and enough twists to keep younger readers entertained.

None of these stories were particularly scary, and I wouldn’t call many of them great. But they reminded me of sleepovers, flashlights under blankets, and trying to scare your friends just enough that nobody wanted to be the first one to turn the lights off.

They’re cheesy, predictable, and wonderfully nostalgic.
