Antonov Babies

Nikolai's Baby

Rate this book
I despised Nikolai Antonov.
It didn’t matter that he was drop-dead gorgeous, rich beyond comprehension, and totally obsessed with me.
His rock-solid abs and lustful banter weren’t going to convince me to crawl into bed with him.
Even when agreed to help rescue my cousin who was kidnapped by the Cartel, my opinion of him didn’t budge.
He was toxic, and I wanted absolutely nothing to do with him…

Until I got pregnant with his baby.

The only Russian thing about this book is the title. It's slow, a little boring, there's nothing "Russian", and the sex is meh (and that 'meh' is me being generous). Here's the abbreviated version.

Dream is trying to smuggle some drugs across the border to Mexico in order to save her cousin. Nikolai (allegedly the boss of the Russian bratva) and his brother are pretending to be patrol officers in order to catch potential cartel members passing through their stretch of the Texas road. I know..... anyway, they pull Dream over, Nikolai decides to help her rescue her cousin, they end up in Mexico, have sex, fall in love, she gets pregnant, cousin gets rescued, HEA.

It's just boring. If there had been some hot, steamy sex, and a few Russian words thrown in, it might have won me over. What's the point of reading it when you cut out all the good stuff?

Plus - this nasty bit right here. They haven't had sex yet, and they're in this nasty, Mexican "hotel" that is just one room and doesn't even have a hotel sign. It's basically a shack that you rent for a few dollars. He masturbates in front of her and ejaculates on the floor. Then he tells her to lick it up.... AND SHE DOES!!!!!! Do you have any idea what else is on that floor?!?!?! Jesus freaking Christ on a cracker!!!!

I'm giving it a 2 because it's not as bad as the books I hate.

MMC/FMC- Nikolai and Dream
POV- 1st person dual
Genre- Mafia Romance
Sub Genre- Bratva
Heat- they do the thing with some kink and degradation and they use all the P words to name the parts.
Series? Y
Safety: No cheating/sharing, no OW/OM drama, No S. Violence, no cliffhanger, HEA.
Triggers- graphic violence, explicit erotic content, language.
Tropes- Forced Proximity, Off On The Wrong Foot, One Steve Limit, Surprise Pregnancy, He Ain’t Heavy- He’s My Bratva, Baby You Can Drive My Car-tel
What I liked- I really liked the characters. Nikolai in particular was a delight. He’s goofy at times and deadly serious at others. And he’s romantic. I admit, I swooned when he told her he loved her. And the chemistry! Wow! The first zexy scene just blew off the roof! I think my Kindle is sweating. I’m not personally a fan of degradation, but I know that it’s a turn on for some people, and it wasn’t taken to the point of offensiveness, although YMMV. And dancing! Salsa!
What I didn’t- Dream? Really? I know that there’s a One Steve Limit (no two characters can have the same first name), but there’s a difference between unique and ridiculous.
Verdict- I really enjoyed this book. It had an excellent balance between adventure and romance/steam, and I recommend it.

I absolutely loved Nikolai. Jasha made me laugh even though his part wasn't as large in this book. But I couldn't stand Dream. She was down right rude, disrespectful and ungrateful. Nikolai and Jasha could have very easily just taken the drugs and killed her or taken the drugs and ditched her. Nikolai didn't owe her anything. He could have let her walk in and got killed by or sold by the Mexican cartel. But throughout the whole book until the very end she acted like a turtle "B" I could not get behind her character at all because of how she acted. By the time she finally started acting right it was already too late she had left a bad taste in my mouth. I understand that she wanted to rescue Eddie but how are you somebody that's never committed to Crime going to tell the bratva how things are going to work and how things are going to be done. And how are you going to pick at and disrespect somebody that's going out of their way to help you. I have no idea how they fell in love because I don't see how any man could look past her attitude.

Dream has been raised by her cousin since her parents died when she was little. When she receives a message that he is in trouble she doesn't know what to do. However, soon she knows what they want, and it is Nikolai. Its not long before she gets close to him, and things heat up between them. Will she tell him about what's going on before its too late? Can he forgive her deceit?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Longest 250 pages of my life. This was a terribly boring story of a mafia boss’s personal war with a Mexican cartel with a mediocre side of romance. Dream is so annoying and has a stupid name and Nikolai is a sloppy immature knucklehead that leaves you question if he really is a mafia boss because he’s just so stupid sometimes. Then just waves it off like it’s just an oopsies and not something that could’ve gotten everyone killed. And for a book whose write up says “I wanted absolutely nothing to do with him until I ended up pregnant with his baby” the pregnancy comes surprisingly late in the book like 90% of the way through. I’m mad that I wasted so much time on this book.

She needs help and ends up with something else

Nikolai's Baby is the first book in the Antonov Babies series. This is a Bratva/Cartel, romance between Dream and Nikolai. She needs help in rescuing her cousin, who was kidnapped by the cartel. She ends up getting Nikolai to help but it does come with a side of smexy hotness.
This was a good story that kept my attention. There were just some confusing bits where story details were not consistent, or at least did not appear to be. Overall it was a good read.

A good book

This is the first book in the series and it was very good. The h met the H when she was trying to go to Mexico to get her cousin back. She was returning the drugs her cousin had stolen from the cartel. The H is a Bratva boss, who ran across her. He decides to help her get her cousin back. Along the way they fall in love, great plot with gunfire and hot sex scenes. Great ending.

dream and nic

Great read, but some what confusing in descriptions, on meeting Nikolai Dream has Blue eyes, then later in the hotel her big brown eyes look at him? Which are they, I had to go back to check. Details are important when the connection is being described between two strong characters. Just threw me a bit found myself skimming after that..

The original storyline was a good one, too bad there wasn't more detail about the ending. Guess the author was concentrating on getting all the strange, disgusting kinks she has into the book. And the surprise pregnancy seems to be in 90% of all books anymore. I've read some of her other books that were better.

needs lots of fixing

FMC in the beginning was described as having blue eyes and then a hundred pages in Nikolai was making a comment about her “big brown eyes”. Major turn off. Wished there was more of a plot felt so rushed especially with her falling pregnant and announcing it within less than two weeks. Give me a more realistic story with consistent details please.

Nice love story

Moved very quickly, but was still a good read. I wish there had been more build-up before the relationship. I will be reading the second book.

This book was so bad, the dialog, storyline, narration, just everything. I skipped around after the first hour or so to see if it got better, it did not.

0.5 stars (it would be 0 stars if it would let me do that)

This was so bad. I can’t. I just can’t. Why does this book exist? Whyyyyyyyyyyy?

I picked up this book cause I was bored and in the mood for a pregnancy romance. I took one look at the title and summary and thought that it would be a nice and fun read. Wrong. I was so fucking wrong. Every second spent reading this was a second I wasted for nothing. It was so bad.

The characters were so badly written. Like, what the heck? They were not well developed and were not interesting. I liked none of them. All of them were so irritating and I couldn’t wait till I finished the book. I kept reading and reading cause I hoped the book would get better but it never did.

The plot was trash. It was so badly written. It was pretty much just badly written smut with a few side stories. And the romance wasn’t good either. It was basically non-existent. There was no development and the romance just popped out of nowhere. This was such a poorly written book.
