Well, this looked spectacular – but the plot, being no Gruffalo, probably needed that. Wolfboy is forced to take a shortcut with his friends the rabbits, and his harvest of berries, but that takes him into the territory of the feared Grumble Monster. This will add some frissons of laughter about being scared to some very young book times, and raise a discussion about fear and what we should be afraid of, but the plot really needed a bit more oomph. Still, I was very grateful to see this, not least because of the visuals, and the way they use digital clay (don't ask – just check out a copy) for the most enjoyable of pictures. But are they enough to get this to four stars? In the way you don't hum the LP cover, probably not, so three and a half it is.
