Stormy Morgan is flying high. She’s engaged. She’s used to her new routine. She’s even learning about being a witch. All of that changes when a local podcaster’s house goes up in flames and a body is found inside. Carl Winslow was not a nice man. He spent his time stalking local family vloggers so he could cast aspersions on their life choices. One family in particular draws his ire, and he fights with them the night of the fire. Are they to blame for the podcaster’s death, though? Stormy and her fiancé Hunter Ryan are on the case, and the further they dig into Carl Winslow’s life, the more they realize that nothing in Shadow Hills is as it seems. Stormy was already working against forces she didn’t see coming. There’s a conspiracy of people who were apparently waiting for her to manifest her powers working against her, though. They have plans for her. They also had plans for Carl. As evidence begins mounting, it points to one particular person. Only Stormy is convinced it has to be someone else. She’s determined to get to the source of the death and destruction wreaking havoc on her once quiet small town. She has to survive to find her answers, though, and that’s not a given. It’s a race against the clock. Either Stormy finds what she’s looking for and stops Shadow Hills’ most recent threat, or everybody suffers in the wake of yet another bout of magical mayhem. Who will survive? You’re about to find out.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
While visiting another enter festival.Stormy and Hunter cross paths with a young family, mum, dad, toddler boy and baby girl. They are recording the boy skating and having fun in the snow. Curious Stormy and Hunter ask questions of a local man, he tells them the family are vloggers and that they make their living by recording family videos and putting them on YouTube. Stormy feels conflicted about this, the parents have the right to earn a living however they please but she feels they are wrong and exploiting their minor children. Next day the man they spoke to suffers a ttagedy, his house burns down while he s in it. The fire is found to be arson. The vloggers are immediate suspects. Then things take an unexpected turn when more Gnomes are found to be in the area and not only are there a few of them but they've been here a long time waiting for the Hellcat to return. Stormy though she is the reason the goblins are in Shadow Cove does not feel in danger from them ....for once. While Stormys grandfather and Bay's Aunt Tillie have decided they are going.to make their fortune as the town's latest Vlogging sensastion. So, a lot to get through to find the truth of what is happening and why....................
I enjoy Amanda M Lee's books. I really like the cross overs with the other characters. I also liked how the author brought vlogging into the story. Looking forward to the next book!
I can barely believe I've stayed with this series for 9 books by now. 😳 I still feel like all the things that go on in Hemlock Cove swoop by entirely over my head, but it doesn't bother me. I'm not going to go after the related series.
After all time invested, I want to know if Stormy and Hunter ever get their lives together. (And if Stormy ever learns to be a fully functional Hellcat.) I might have to stick with them for another 9 books if the series is continue with this pace though. 😅
This makes me so very conflicted, because I don't rate this series very highly. It's relaxing to listen to, because I know the characters really well by now. No one important ever gets seriously hurt no matter what happens, so I never feel like I have to worry for any of the characters.
It's kind of soothing to spend time with. Especially because of the narrator. I absolutely adore her. 🌟✨
As for Easton, Weston, and then even a Preston... My poor dyslexic brain cried just a few drops of blood, to be perfectly honest. 😵😵😵 There's so many characters to try to keep apart already. Using similar names for a bunch of them is just cruel. 🥲
Will I show up for book 10? Sure. I'm not a quitter. 😆
I really like this series, but I get annoyed by the constant commentary between Stormy and Monica. It was mentioned at least three times in this book. Yes, Monica was dating Hunter when Stormy moved back to town and yes everyone but Monica knew she didn’t stand a chance keeping Hunter. Then we go through the entire back and forth conversations of Stormy feeling guilty for “taking” Hunter from Monica. Blah blah blah. Annoying.
The little girl, Misty… she had dark hair and it seemed her mom disregarded her because her hair wasn’t blond. I kept waiting to find out that Misty was Carl’s kid, or something and that’s why her parents didn’t pay much attention to her. Nothing ever came of it. Misty has dark hair and will continue to be neglected then? I guess we have to come to our own conclusions.
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A fun cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Stormy is a witch. She is a specific type of witch called a hellcat witch. They were nearly extinct until her powers came into effect. Her grandmother was a weaker version of a hellcat witch he came from a long line of hellcat which is in their past. or the hellcat which is faded away and stormy is prophesies to bring that line back. There are forces out there that want to support her and other forces out there that want to stop her. And see what adventures stormy and her friends can get into this time. If you crossover visitors from other series in this magic world pop up. Enjoy
Vlogging seems to be the latest craze in Shadow Hills... well, that or trolling the vloggers! As a fire engulfs the home of one of the biggest critics, Carl Winslow, and a body is found in the wreckage it seems that gnomes sent to watch for the resurgence of the hellcat line are coming out of the woodwork everywhere and none of them want to go back to life before they were sent on their mission.
Can Hunter and Stormy get to the bottom of who killed Carl Winslow and why? Or will there be an unexpected twist... or maybe two...
I don't get it. I watch things on FB and TT. I wouldn't even know where to start. Plus I'm with Stormy on this one and not exploiting kids, that s just asking for a white panel van and a creepy guy asking your kids to help find his puppy. This work is crazy and we don't need to add to it. Who is Monica's mystery man? Hope to find out in the next book. On to the next adventure 😉💚💙
Stormy continues to learn that being a Hellcat comes with a learning curve and there are more enemies than she was aware of. To make matters worse, her grandfather has decided to start a vlog of the family. While the small insanities are adding up, she continues to find more gnome shifters that had been watching her all her life. While the end game doesn’t seem to be amping up, Shadow Hills obviously has more of a paranormal presence than previously believed.
I actually liked this one better than the last couple of books in this series. There was a social media aspect that was pretty interesting. I also like when Stormy teams up with the Winchesters. Stormy and Hunter are the same as Bay and Landon, with less bacon. Also Tillie and Grandpa are the same person. I just realized that the title of this book has nothing to do with the story... oh well. They're basically free to read and still a lot of fun.
Ok this plotline is a little too close to reality. There is a family online exactly like this and the man is even named Derek...with a dark haired girl , Sunny, and blond haired boy. Is this realistic fiction based now? Otherwise I always enjoy the interactions. P.s. I this Weston is "M" s new mystery man...but I have been wrong before... From time to time.
Oh, this one was definitely a real thriller! Kids, cameras and weird cult people made for a fascinating read. Not to mention that I just love it when peeps from different series come together. Always fun to work on figuring it out too. And don’t forget the gnomes and the romantic quandary. Enjoy!
Amanda Lee has a way to integrate current issues, drama and humor in her books that makes you excited to read the next book! I laughed so much at how she manipulated family and friends and the terms she used to describe certain expressions are hilarious. I have to applaud how she approached the internet and vlogging issues. This series doesn’t disappoint!
I just love Stormy and Hunter’s shenanigans. As usual, there’s a situation they fall on to and as they learn more, it becomes a crime scene and they’re off! The paranormal community comes together to solve the crime and to mete out justice. HEA.
Stormy and Hunter are engaged and living together. In Traverse City for a festival, they run into people they know from Shadow Hills and witness a confrontation. The next day one of those persons is murdered and an investigation starts that brings paranormals out of the woodwork. Their Hemlock Cove friends help.
Stormy is supposed to be ‘a powerful witch - a hellcat’, yet she rarely uses her skills ( not at all in Book 9) and there is no evidence she is any different from an average woman. Frankly, the other witches are pretty lame I’ll not follow this series any longer.
Another fun read from the Two Broomsticks bunch. I enjoyed the story but the number of gnomes cropping up is a bit much. I always enjoy the crossover characters and how they help each other out. This story had a lot of twists and was very well done. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I love how close Bay, Scout, and Stormy live to eqch other. It brings more to the books. Suspense with surprises, laughs, and growing are happening in Stormy's world.
This book had it all: magic, mayhem, mystery, and a touch of romance. The characters are realistic and easy to imagine in feal life. I love this series and Gradpa rocks. I highly recommend this book and the series.
This series gets better with each new book! I love revisiting Stormy and her family. The books are full of snark, sarcasm, romance, great friends, crazy family, and enemies you'll love to hate. I can't wait to read the next book!
What a great story, a lot of the gang showed up; every time I got close to knowing who the culprit was, things changed quickly. I really loved it. It also reminded me how I've missed Scout and Gunner., hope we'll here about them soon. Excellent.
You have wrote another wonderful book. I love Hunter and Stromy. I love when you add the Winchesters and Evan Gunner and Scout. Thank you for writing another wonderful book.
I’ve been enjoying the books in this series, and this was no exception. Love the characters, love that we get some Winchester interaction, and really enjoyed the story. Will definitely be grabbing the next book.
Thank you Amanda Lee for providing such a wonderful escape in all your stories. I love Aunt Tillie and all the characters in all your series. Please keep writing and taking us to worlds that seem so very real.
If your looking for a captivating read, and know anything of the series I think you'll really enjoy it. Introducing a new type shifter was interesting. Combining the Winchester 's in any of the series is always A plus!I Well done.
This series is only getting better. I love how Bay, Scout, Stormy and all the other friends, family and side kicks work together. Amanda M. Lee has created the perfect series.
I love all the characters that this author has in her different series and the crossover that she has created. The storytelling is always so interesting and fun to follow.
I love this series and have so CD the beginning, never know what Stormy is going to have to work through, but with hunter and the rest of the WInchester witches you know it will be entertaining! Can't wait to read the next and sadly final book.of the series!
