2020 bk 45. Rolf is a Viking Shipbuilder and Seafarer, he was until forces beyond his control swept him forward in time to the 1990's. Meredith is a professor trying to build a longship in honor of her grandfather. Were there ever such an unmatched pair - with a similar goal in mind. Plenty of mishaps and humorous scenes keep the action going.

998 A.D. Jorund Ericsson, is traveling on his longship with his brother, when they find they are off course. Then before he knows it he is in the mouth of a whale, who takes him to the twenty first century. At first Jorund insists that he must return home, but then the orca throws him on the beach in Texas, where a orca show is showing with women and children. There who see a tall, virile naked viking with women and children gaping at him. He is then arrested and put in a mental hospital. His doctor, is Maggie McBride. Maggie has two twin daughters, whom she loves dearly. Abandoned by their father who didn't want responsibilities, but then later died in one of his risk taking risks. She takes her daughters to a orca show, which they love to see. When a naked man comes out of the water, and her heart skips a beat. For she has never seen such a beautiful specimen in her life. Her daughters however, believe he is to be their father. Maggie ends up being his psychiatrist. Maggie believes that he just needs time to come to terms with the fact that he isn't a viking who has traveled through time. Since she knows it is impossible, isnt it? Her resolve weakens however at their first kiss. Her senses go on alert, for she knows she has never felt anything like what she feels with Jorund. Jorund knows he just has to abide his time in this crazy mad house until he can be released so he can find that crazy orca that brought him to this time. He knows he needs to return to his brother and father. Then out of the blue Jorund disappears for three weeks, and Maggie despite herself is worried sick. After searching upon searching for three weeks he comes to Maggie's home. Maggie at first is shocked to see him, but joyous as well. As they celebrate both Thanksgiving and Christmas together, both Maggie and Jorund's bond to one another strengthens, as well as Jorund's relationship with her twin daughter, who have similiar resemblance to his twin daughter that were killed. Jorund knows he has to return to his own time, despite the fact that he knows how much he has fallen in love with Maggie and her daughters. He has a responsibility and duty to his family, although he desperately wishes that he doesn't. He aches to stay here in the twenty first century with the love of his life. But what will he decide to do stay with his love? Or travel back in time for his duty?

I have had such a adventure reading another well written one by Sandra Hill. I love reading Time Travel romance, especially with Hill at the helm. Especially at first, I laughed so much and so hard, it sure had its moments. I love how this strong warrior Viking has been taken forward in time, to end up in a mental hospital. It will definitely make you laugh, but there is also a great story line, with intense passion that builds between both Jorund and Maggie. A passion that neither one of them has ever felt before and can't deny, not even to themselves. I also loved how a father-daughter relationship was put in with Maggie's daughters. Whom I am sure you will fall in love with as much as I have. They have such sweet personalities that will pull strings on your heart. I definitely loved reading this one, it was truly a genuine time travel romance that I could re read!! Another win for Sandra Hill!!!

I thought I'd like this better than I did, but I got annoyed with the authors fascination with t-shirts with stupid logos on them; they're everywhere in this novel and it goes overboard. I also lost patience with the viking constantly mispronouncing words. Even words he's used over and over again are still typed out in a deliberately mispronounced way. "Dock-whore" for doctor lost its ability to be amusing after the second use. "Mag-he" for Maggie just made me want to flip pages faster and get to the end so I'd be done with it.

Overall the book was mildly entertaining to me, but nothing more.

Sigue la misma tónica que el primer libro, si acaso, éste es más absurdo aún, pero las risas merecen la pena. Al igual que el primero, consta de dos partes bastante marcadas, una primera donde él viaja a nuestro tiempo de la manera más absurda y ridícula, donde los protas se conocen, y una segunda parte más tierna, donde los protas se enamoran. El primer libro me gustó bastante, pero éste segundo creo que me ha gustado aún más.
Ya tengo ganas de ponerme con el tercero y conocer la historia de Magnus, el de las Orejas Grandes, y su gran prole.

Novel ini bertema Time Travel, dengan hero disini adalah Jorund, kakak Greirolf yang jadi MC di The Last Viking. Vibe masih sama dengan The Last Viking, masih menyodorkan culture shock dari Jorund yang berasal dari abad ke 10.

Jorund terlempar ke abad 20, tanpa tahu sebab dan bagaimana caranya, terjadi saat dia menunggangi paus untuk melepas jangkar kapalnya. Kesimpulannya paus inilah membawa Jorund ke abad 20 dengan suatu tujuan.

Di abad ini Jorund dipertemukan dengan Maggie McBride, ibu tunggal beranak 2. Di kehidupannya Jorund ditinggal mati oleh istri dan anak kembarnya. Maggie meripakan, psikolog yang bekerja di rumah sakit kesehatan mental. Maggie lah yang membawa Jorund ke RS ini karena permintaan anaknya dan beranggapan kalau Jorund memang terganggu mentalnya.

Novel ini masih menyodorkan kelucuan, walau gak selucu The Last Viking. Tidak terlalu memberikan informasi latar belakang abad ke 10 sebanyak novel sebelumnya, mungkin beranggapan sudah tidak dibutuhkan. Lumayan tetap menarik buat dibaca tanpa mikir.

Tipikal Hero yang gak banyak beda dengan buku sebelumnya, beda latar belakang sedikit saja, sifat sih hampir sama, jadi agak bikin "yawn" aja. Nothing new to offer just fun book to read saja.

Sandra Hill is a mischievous author who has a talent for blending comedic elements with some great romance and sensuality. She is very good at creating play-on-words that lead to lots of hilarious misunderstandings, and she also has a penchant for funny t-shirt slogans that don't make much sense to a tenth century Viking. Truly, Madly Viking had many humorous moments that had me smiling and even laughing out loud, but it also had very tender moments that had me misting up. The story got off to a bit of a slow start for me, but about 1/3 of the way through, I was pretty well hooked. I think the slow start was because there wasn't quite as much of the “fish out of water” feel to this book as there was in the first book of the series, The Last Viking. I was also somewhat disappointed that Ms. Hill seemed to recycle some jokes and minor plot points and characterizations from the previous novel, as well as repeat some things throughout the book, but in the end there was enough new material to hold my attention.

The characterizations were very well drawn. Jorund at times seemed a bit too perfect for my taste (I have a personal preference for the more imperfect heroes) and a little too chauvinistic, but it wasn't overdone to the point of being annoying. Underneath it all he had a loving, tender heart of gold toward both Maggie and her daughters, and best of all, he really respected Maggie, so it was pretty easy to see why she would fall for him. I also enjoyed Jorund's attitude toward public service, and his realization of how much personal satisfaction he received from helping others. I loved Maggie with all her insecurities and inhibitions (What woman can't relate to that?), but Jorund had a way of making her feel truly beautiful. Maggie's daughters, Beth and Suzy, seemed a little beyond their years at times, and I found them to be most endearing when they were just being little girls. The mental hospital patients were a hoot, yet the reader could really sympathize with them in their individual situations.

Truly, Madly Viking is the second book in a series about a time-traveling trio of brothers. In this book, readers are treated to a reunion with Rolf and Meredith, as well as a few secondary characters from book #1, The Last Viking, and given a look at what their lives are like now. We are also introduced to the third brother, Magnus, who becomes the hero of book #3, The Very Virile Viking. Ms. Hill's Viking II series actually contains a total of six books basically written in two trilogies, with books #4-#6 being Wet & Wild, Hot & Heavy, and Rough & Ready. Truly, Madly Viking had some weaknesses and admittedly isn't the typical romance fare that I tend to like the most, but overall, there was enough originality, humor, and tender, heartfelt moments to make this an enjoyable read for me. If you're looking for a lighthearted romp with lots of laughs then look no further.

Novel yang ini kalah telak lucunya dengan yang pertama, The Last Viking.

Kali ini Jorund (kakak Rolf) ditugaskan ayahnya mencari si adik yg sudah menghilang selama setahun. Eh... tak taunya Jorund malah terdampar di masa depan dibawa oleh seekor paus pembunuh bernama Thora.

Maggie adalah seorang dokter psikiater, single mother beranak sepasang anak kembar, jelas-jelas kaget melihat penampakan Jorund dalam keadaan telanjang bulat. Tak ayal lagi, Jorund dimasukkan ke fasilitas kesehatan mental di tempat Maggie bekerja. Jorund marah pada awalnya, tetapi dia adalah seorang Viking. Viking yang mempesona, yang menghipnotis orang-orang di sekitarnya. Tidak butuh waktu lama bagi Jorund utk menyihir Maggie, anak-anaknya, dan pasien-pasien di rumah sakit tsb.

Walaupun ceritanya masih lucu, tetapi saya merasa "datar" saat membacanya karena konflik cerita nyaris tidak ada. Sebagian besar juga seperti pengulangan cerita The Last Viking seperti acara berbelanja ala Viking, keterpikatan Jorund pada kotak TV terutama reality show Dr. Ruth dll. Adegan intimasi juga lumayan memikat dan saya ngakak saat Jorund bilang "adiknya" menjadi raksasa di masa sekarang dibandingkan saat di masa Viking. Reuni Jorund dengan adiknya, Rolf memang saya nantikan, tetapi tidak terjadi sesuatu yang "WOW" seperti yang saya harapkan. Novel ini juga lebih tipis daripada yang sebelumnya, entah karena author kehabisan ide-ide lucunya atau apalah.

Sorry, buku ini mungkin paling membosankan dari seri Viking II yang pernah kubaca. Trond si tentara yang awalnya serius di kehidupan abad 10 nya kembali gagap tehnologi di abad 21. Dan aku jenuh dengan kondisi itu, joke-joke plesetan itu, dan scene-scene daur ulang ini.

Heroinenya single mother dengan 2 anak kembar juga tidak terlalu memorable. Momen kebersamaan mereka panas membara tapi minim chemistry. Bonding hubungan merek terasa instan dan dipaksakan. Aku juga bosan setengah mati dengan scene-scene Trond di RSJ.

Reuni Trond dengan adiknya akan membuatmu bernostalgia. Ending buku ini cukup klise dan gampang di tebak. Momen percakapan dengan Thora juga agak magical.

Semoga bisa lebih bonding di buku Magnus si petani.

4.5 stars. I read this book with a smile on my face. Well written, fun and tongue in cheek humour throughout this Viking time travel story. Don't take it too seriously, rather just read this for pure entertainment and escapism. 🙂

I've read and re-read this book a number of times and have found myself laughing time and again at the same parts and weeping silently along with the characters at times, during the course of reading this book I feel that Jorund Ericsson and Maggie McBride make a very sweet if at times confused pair; but what can you expect when the two are from vastly different time periods and suddenly thrown together. Jorund is a tenth century Viking who loses some of his family members and goes on a quest to attempt to find one of his brothers and somehow gets tossed from his ship, only to be rescued by a smart-mouthed whale and hurtled into the twentieth century.

Maggie McBride is a single mother with twin daughters who love a place called Orcaland, which could be considered the Texas equivalent of Sea World; one day they convince their mom to take them there and while they're there, the trained orcas begin to act oddly drawing everyone's attention to the water beyond, where they see what appears to be a wild orca with a man clinging to its dorsal fin for dear life before the animal hurls him into the air and into the lives of Maggie McBride and her twin daughters.

Upon their first meeting sparks seem to fly between them but the doctor in Maggie has a hard time believing Jorund's stories, or Jordan as she calls him. He's taken to a local mental health facility in hopes that he's only got a case of amnesia and simply can't remember who he is or where he belongs. Soon, however fate throws them together and they find themselves living together along with Maggie's twin girls, which is difficult at first for Jorund, remembering his own twin daughters and he does his best not to encourage too close an attachment, afraid he may have to leave soon. But, somehow, some way, the four of them find their lives entwined and are destined to be a family.

Setelah Geirolf Ericsson terlempar dari tahun 997 ke Maine tahun 1997, sekarang giliran kakaknya, Jorund Ericsson terlempar dari tahun 998 ke Texas tahun 2000.

Sudah begitu, nasib sial membuat Jorund muncul di tempat umum tanpa busana, sehingga kena stungun dan masuk rumah sakit jiwa. Tapi banyak kejadian lucu di rumah sakit jiwa ini, terutama setelah Jorund bernegosiasi dengan Dock-whore Mag-he dan bergabung dengan kelompok pasien lain.

Di antara kisah romantis antara Jorund dan dokter jiwanya, sempat terpikir bagaimana jika Jorund bertemu dengan adiknya, mumpung sama-sama di Amerika masa depan. Mungkinkah lewat facebook? Er, tapi buku ini terbit tahun 2000 sebelum ada facebook ya.

Ternyata Sandra Hill mengabulkan rasa ingin tahuku. Nggak meleset jauh sih, informasi tentang Desa Viking Rosestead ditemukan di internet, dan membawa Jorund berkunjung ke sana, dan akhirnya reuni dengan adiknya.

Melihat premisnya, sepertinya semua anak Eric termasuk si sulung Magnus bakal terdampar di Amerika masa depan. Kayaknya menarik juga membaca kisah tentang Magnus si telinga lebar dan banyak anak nyasar juga ke abad 21. Agak penasaran acara TV apa yang akan jadi favoritnya, mengingat Geirolf tergila-gila Home Improvement dan Jorund menggemari Andy Griffith Show.

Novel-novel Sandra Hill tentang Viking saba Amerika memang cocok untuk dibaca kalo cari hiburan yang hot dan bikin ketawa.

I love this story so much because there are many goodness things that want deliver to the readers such as give and give that Jorund do to their friends in the hospital, Maggie, and Maggie’s daughters “Suzy and Beth”.

Beside that, I love the sense of humour in every words of this story especially about Thora and Jorund. I’ll always laugh and smile when I read it. :-)

Jorund “The Viking” is a great man who feel responsible to find and give the news of his younger brother “Geirolf” to his dad till one day he success to find his younger brother “Geirolf” is still alive. He also sacrifice his love to Maggie for the sake of giving good news about his younger brother “Geirolf” to his dad and finally, he meet Thora at the bay and he doesn’t need to came back to his age. Of course, Maggie and her daughters are so happy. :-)

Maggie is a great mom. She grow up her daughters by her own self and theach them so many good things. I love Maggie’s character. She’s so incredible and we can make her as a good role in our life. :-)

Suzy and Beth was the amazing daughters. They never give up to pray for the presence of a dad in their family till one day their dream come true through Jorund who’s present in their life and give the happiness to their family. Moreover, they’re smart and funny and I love it. :-*

Thora is the funiiest whale. It always make Jorund feel irritate. I laugh and smile when I read the time where Thora talk to Jorund. I love it so much. :-*

I really love time travel romances and I think Sandra Hill is one of the best at them. And it helps to mention that her Vikings are outstandingly hot!

Jorund gets dragged into the future in the most isane of ways - on the back of a killer whale with whom he somehow finds he is able to communicate. His sudden appearance - nude might I add - at the local Orcaland is witness by many onlookers who think he's a lunatic and so steps up our heroine. Maggie is a psychologist and decides right then and there (with a little convincing from her two daughters) to take this mentally ill and highly confused, albeit stunningly gorgeous, man into her care. And so Jorund ends up in a mental health facility.

Now my only complaint is actually one that Jorund himself has during the course of the book. Maggie treats him as a patient with mental isues but he's is perfectly sane and mentions to her that all her questions would make any man doubt his sanity and I'm forced to agree. Maggie was mildly irritating for the first half of the book but when she stops playing doctor and starts acting like a person everything changes. The chemistry begins and things get interesting. Jorund is a great character, Maggie's daughters, Suzy and Beth, are hilarious and Jorunds speech is always a kick. All round a great book and I'm definitely picking up the next brother, Magnus.

You will either love it or hate it.

When you have a tenth century viking show up in the 21st century he is doing his best to understand. Doctor to him is dock whore, Maggie is mag-he, patient is phay-sun language and misundertandings go on throught the book. I found most of the book humorous but it does go a bit into "ughh really". But hey I would totally be confused too. Tea-vee (TV) is a wonderful learning tool..(lol).

Ohh yea the review...um well if you haven't figured it yet this Viking from the year 998 A.D. Rides a killer whale into the future while on a search mission to find his missing brother. He arives naked at Orkaland wearing only his armbands, shord and sheath. Being now in the 21st century his is taser and about to be arrested for indecent exposer when Dr. Maggie Mcbride steps in and has him taken to Rainbow Mental health hospital. So now labeled as a mental patient the story is just taking off.

Plenty of sexual tension, flirting and lust going on between Jorund and Maggie. I just loved these two characters. Such fun chemestry between them. Plus Maggies twin girls Suzy and Beth were great. Wish upon a star for a dad and it just might come true.

At times you wonder why you keep reading this book but there is a cuteness factor that makes you go on along with all the confusion of watching a man adapt to modern day culture, the cheesey factor is just part of the charm that will have you laughing while you read it.

Jorund, brother to the man in the previous book, is sent out to find his brother by his father. Like his brother he is thrown through time and ends up in the present where he rides naked on a killer whale into a SeaWorld like park where he encounters Maggie. Sparks fly and and we get to see all the craziness that ensues.

For a quick cute read grab this book. I will be checking out the next one for more Viking fun.

I think this one holds up much better than the first one, at least as far as how annoying the Viking was. Jorund is somehow much less frustrating than Rolf is. I found Maggie’s insistence on calling him Joe when he clearly stated his name was Jorund to be massively out of character for a psychologist. You would think that relationship would be all about building trust, and using the wrong name is very disrespectful and unlikely to foster a positive outcome. I pretty much skipped the sex scenes since they went on for pages. Ugh.

Great book. Nice lighthearted, funny read that kept my attention. The middle did get a bit slow with no conflict, but I really enjoyed reading this. Can't wait to get the next one from the library. Too bad only 3 of the 20 Viking books written by the author are available at the library. So freaking sick of Publisher games.

This is the 3rd viking brother and it is great. He comes from the past to this present day riding on the back of a whale. It is a funny story and I loved when all three brothers find each other again in the present. Each one of them thought the other died....until they find each other. So great.... There is a wonderful love story too...once he convinces her he is not NUTS!

I'm rarely one for single mother stories, but Hill makes the Viking so endearing that I couldn't put it down very often. I always looked foreword to Jorund's misinterpretation of words. His connection and overall influence on the other patients was amazing. And the brief glimpse of the missing Rolf makes me look foreword to the prequel.

I love, love, LOVE Sandra Hill books...she captivates me with her writing every book and this one was no different.
I also love how when you read all of her Viking books they all intertwine with one another. The characters reoccur throughout the books even though the book has a completely different set of main characters.

I thought it was a very different take an a time-travel romance; it's fun and full of humor and just a nice spicing of passion; it's a very fun and entertaining read and it also gives you a glimpse into a by-gone era, I felt pulled in from the first sentence and didn't want to put it down until I'd read the last.

I loved this story, it was a lot of fun; I learned about Vikings, some new things about history and I absolutely fell in love with Jorund Ericsson and Maggie McBride, as well as her two daughters; they had me laughing and crying throughout the book, Sandra Hill's Viking stories are definitely on my watch list.

I still found this time travel story enjoyable re-reading it four years later. The play on words was so funny and the twin daughters added a sweet touch. Viking Jorund travels through time naked on a killer whale and is taken to a mental facility by psychologist Maggie.
