The 1980s was an unique time. I liked how the Team Seven editors always gave an introduction to new readers. This was followed by a historical overview of the decade the stories were focused on. Something that I found enjoyable is the unique way the authors write the stories. I have both the Audible book and the Kindle book. The narrator spoke clearly and enunciated very well. This made listening to the book an entertaining experience. I really like how the author didn't just focus on the killers but gave descriptions and information about the victims even dedicating chapters to specific victims. While I don't like to read about unsolved cold cases, some of those stories were in this volume but the author made them interesting, by hypothesizing the motives and suspects. I definitely would recommend this book to other true crime aficionados.
As a huge fan of true crime, I found True Crime Storytime Volume 7: 12 Disturbing True Crime Stories to Keep You Up All Night to be a great read. I was intrigued with many stories. Some I have heard of and some I have not. I was captivated from start to end.
I am giving True Crime Storytime Volume 7: 12 Disturbing True Crime Stories to Keep You Up All Night five stars and highly recommend it.
I received a digital copy of True Crime Storytime Volume 7: 12 Disturbing True Crime Stories to Keep You Up All Night from the publisher, but was not required to write review, nor a positive one. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Received an advance reading copy in exchange for an honest review.
12 very short reports of true crime (mostly murders) from the 1980s. The crimes described are fairly standard fare and also ones that you may have read/heard about before, but aren’t necessarily the best-known murders of the ‘80s. Each report is 8-12 pages long, which is too short to go into much detail, and descriptions are fairly surface level. It’s a book about true crime that’s as breezy as it can be while talking about gruesome murders and violent rapes. The main downfall is its poor writing, inconsistent style, and lack of proofreading, all of which made it much more difficult to read than it should have been.
Thank you so much Librarything for allowing to have an ARC of this book. Being a lover of true crime, this was a fun easy read. There were a few stories I heard of, but then there were some that I did not know about. It doesnt go into a deep detail but it gives you enough sort of like a true crime cliffnotes which I find rather useful. Anything to bring light to some cases with no known outcome could help down the line.
M. Moore's telling of True Crimes in Vol. 7 is as good as true crime writing gets! This volume is just as freaky and scary as its predecessors in my opinion and I highly recommend it! Just make sure you lock your doors and windows before settling in to read it and don't plan on sleeping at night for a while afterward. It's a great way to "kill" a weekend! (See what I did there?) Smile Thanks so much to the LibraryThing for my arc of this ebook!
A variety of murder cases both solved and unsolved from around the world, this book goes into quite a lot of depth about each of them. From the murderer to the victims and the ensuing investigation and conclusion, each case is well written and detailed.
Many of the cases are lesser known and are from around the world. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and recommend it to anyone who likes true crime books.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a collection of murder cases that took place in the 1980's. Some are familiar and others are cases that people maybe never heard of. All are horrendous and some still need to be solved. This was really interesting and sad in cases. Well researched, but a little cut & dry.
I won this as an Early Review for LibraryThing.com
Usually, true crime does not affect me much. It gives me the ick, but I don't dwell on it and I don't usually have nightmares about it. That was not the case with this book. It took me longer than expected to read because I typically do my reading right before bed... do not do that with this book. The first (and only) night that I read this right before bed, I had nightmares that I was one of the victims and I think it was the most terrifying nightmare I have ever had. If you are looking for scary true crime, you have found it. The facts are all there as well as additional details to improve the flow of the story and it is just SO GOOD. I also like that the stories took the time to list out every victim, even if there were several of them. I feel that sometimes true crime news (books, podcasts, etc.) tend to focus on the perpetrator and give them the spotlight, rather than the unfortunate people that were targeted. This book did a good job of mentioning all of the known victims by name. Highly recommend for fans of both true crime and horror... I added the horror on their because some of these were pretty graphic and had a similar affect to reading a horror book or watching a horror movie.
