He’s the celebrity whose star shines bright. She’s the wife who’s had enough.
I had it all; a loving marriage, an adorable dog, and plans to build the home of our dreams in idyllic Sweetkiss Creek. Moving here meant we focused on us, and starting a family, but those dreams came crashing down when Spencer made the choice to go back to Hollywood and left me flying solo.
With Christmas around the corner, my movie star husband is back for the reading of my late aunt’s will. His visit brings more than just nerves and legal matters––this man is determined to win me back.
But fate throws an unexpected curveball (or two) forcing us on an unexpected holiday adventure in the RV we inherit…all while taking part in an ingenious posthumous scavenger hunt.
When the engine roars to life, will we find a way to rekindle our love and give it the sequel it deserves or is this the final chapter of our love story?
The Art of Falling in Love with the Movie Star is a second chance Christmas rom com with a one year time jump, serious forced proximity, sizzling and swoony kisses, and lots of love from Barney the Beagle. It’s a chemistry and tension collision in this closed door romance!
Anne Kemp is a bestselling author of romantic comedies. She loves reading (and she doesn’t it ridiculously fast, too!), gluten-free baking (because everyone needs a hobby that makes them crazy), and finding time to binge-watch her favorite shows. She grew up in Maryland but made Los Angeles her home until she encountered her own real-life meet-cute at a friend's wedding where she ended up married to one of the groomsmen. For real.
Anne now lives on the Kapiti Coast in New Zealand, and even though she was married at Mt. Doom, no…she doesn’t have a Hobbit. However, she and her husband do have a terrier named George Clooney and when she’s not writing, she’s usually with them taking a long walk on the river by their home.

This might be my new favorite Anne Kemp book I’ve ever read! I’ve been on her ARC team for all three Love in Lake Lorelei novellas and now for the three released Sweetkiss Creek series novels and I have LOVED every story so far, The Art of Falling in Love with the Movie Star (again) is no exception! Amelia and Spencer’s story was one I was dying to get to read, and once I started reading, I didn’t want to put it down. Spencer is back in Sweetkiss Creek right before Christmas and he’s determined to get Amelia back. They’re soon stuck in an RV on a road trip scavenger hunt a week before Christmas. Nothing goes as planned on this trip and Spencer and Amelia have to relearn how to trust each other again in order to get back to Sweetkiss Creek in one piece…well a few pieces… thanks to Spencer’s driving and a couple missing hubcaps. The banter, bickering, arguing and chemistry between Amelia and Spencer was amazing, it was so easy to love the characters (Barney included!) and of course I loved seeing characters from the past Sweetkiss Creek books again. This is a dual POV, forced proximity, second chance, closed door Christmas romcom and is perfect if you’re looking for a sweet holiday read! While you could probably read this as a standalone, I would still recommend reading the series in order for the best reading experience.
It's Christmas season and I've been looking forward to this rom-com release! An estranged couple are forced on a road trip while they are working out their marriage. Can they even figure out where home is in time for Christmas?
I loved these two. Spencer is still completely in love with his wife but is way too absent minded for his own good. And Amelia is trying to convince herself that the resentment between them has replaced the love they had at first. But for all their quarreling, they do make a good team. Even if neither are ready to drive an RV. Sparks fly and zany fun ensues; I both laughed and swooned for this one.
Note to more sensitive readers: minor innuendos and, obviously, tensions between a married couple.
I received a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
This fun, sweet rom-com is definitely one to add to your Christmas reading list!
This is a heartwarming Christmas romance. The story revolves around Spencer, a Hollywood star, and Amelia, his estranged wife, who reunite to read Amelia's aunt's will. The plot turns unexpectedly when they embark on a quirky scavenger hunt in an inherited RV. Kemp masterfully explores the challenges of fame, love, and second chances, infusing the story with humor and undeniable chemistry. The road trip serves as a metaphor for the intricacies of marriage, demanding trust and a rekindling of love. With a charming cast, including the lovable Barney the Beagle, this book stands out in Kemp's Sweetkiss Creek series, offering a delightful holiday read.
This story was very pleasant to read, like walking through a park in the winter with pretty lights and hot cocoa. I haven’t read a book like this since All Your Perfects, and I have to say I enjoy the struggling marriage trope very much. I love that the author has to have a connection and a strong history between the characters before we even start the book. They’re already together, but we get to see them fall in love all over again and rebuild their relationship. Someone once told me that the reason you get married isn’t the same reason you stay married, and I find that really beautiful, because true love isn’t falling… true love is a choice.
“I want to let my fingertips dance their way along his biceps, and feel him holding on to me, big protective arms wrapped around me, promising me we’ll be okay.” Pg. 63
“Even though I’ve been spitting tacks furious with you the last year, I’ve kept [my ring] on. It’s a reminder to me that there is someone out there who I love with all my heart that I’m bonded to, because I want to be.” Pg. 154
“The taste of coffee and Chapstick lingers on my lips, and it’s all familiar, and it’s mine.” Pg. 207
Another great read in the Sweetkiss Creek series. Loved the Story of Spencer and Amelia and their RV adventures with their dog and the road trip along the way. Recommending this Romantic Comedy for those who need a good laugh.
The Art Of Falling In Love With The Movie Star (Again) is the third book in the third book in Kemp's Sweetkiss Creek series. This book is a second change holiday romance featuring Amelia and Spencer, a married couple who have drifted apart.
The plan was for them to move to Sweetkiss where they had their dream home built, where they would start a family. Spencer however returned to Hollywood, to his career as an actor, while Amelia remained in Sweetkiss, starting new businesses, meeting new people, all without her husband. While she still loves him, they fight every time they talk, and he seems determined to remain in Hollywood rather than be with her. When she files for divorce, Spencer knows that he has to do something or risk losing her forever.
Amelia's aunt Hattie was way ahead of them. When she found out she was sick and didn't have much time left, she set up a sort of scavenger hunt for the couple. When Amelia and Spencer meet with the lawyer to find out what Hattie left them, they're surprised to learn that she left them her RV, Dream Chaser. The catch is that they need to go pick it up together. Hattie has left explicit instructions they need to follow, with multiple stops. They only find out where they're headed next when it is time to proceed to the next location.
Can the forced proximity along with the messages at each stop help these two find their way back to one another? I guess you'll need to read this sweet, closed door, romance to find out.
The highlight for me was definitely when Spencer accidentally drops his keys... . I giggled during that scene!
My favourite quote was: "You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step."
If you enjoy: *second chance romance *forced proximity *Hallmark Christmas movies *small towns *charming characters *non-spicy stories and more...
then you should check out this book.
I rounded up from a 3.5/5 to a 4 for rating purposes.
I believe Kemp already has a fourth book planned: The Art of Falling in Love with Your Brother's Best Friend. It is expected in August 2024 and will be an enemies to lovers, hockey, contemporary romance.
My #NewToMeWord was boondocking, which is when people live in their vehicle to enjoy the freedom to move about at will.
There are time when fame and celebrity have a price tag on them that is too high for a relationship to survive. Spencer is famous and at the top of his game. He has even been named the sexiest man alive. Amelia does not dispute these facts, but she has had enough of the fame game. When Spencer and Amelia moved to Sweetkiss Creek, she thought the days of fame and all it entails were behind them. When Spencer was a offered a role he did not think he could he resist, he moved to Hollywood and has left Amelia high and dry with an art museum and RV park to run, all while also overseeing the building of their dream home. The dream home is not looking so dreamy these days. Things are not looking for for Spencer. It is very obvious that they love each other, but something has to give.
They are both called to the office of the attorney for Amelia's aunt for the reading of her Last Will and Testament. She has bequeathed her RV to them. However, there is a catch, they have to retrieve the RV from Siesta Key and drive back across the country. Road trip anyone? Oh my we know where this is heading. A road trip in a tin can on wheels with two people in close quarters with one another who cannot seem to complete a sentence with one another without fighting. This has disaster spelled all over it.
You will travel with them to their destinations as they go on a type of scavenger hunt which was fun in and of itself. I love a good scavenger hunt. There will be low times, high times and laugh out loud moments. This was a delightful book with a plot that reminds those of us that are married that sometimes we have to work a little harder at marriage in order to make it work. Running from rabid fans of Spencer make this road trip quite the adventure.
You can always count on Anne Kemp to provide you with a sweet romance with a generous dose of humor.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
What a fun second chance romance with an estranged married couple stuck on a forced RV road trip at Christmas. Add in a dash of celebrity, and a sprinkle of small town. “This trip. Two people who aren’t getting along being tossed into an RV. It sounds like the worst reality show ever.” There are so many sweet moments as Spencer and Amelia gradually reconnect. “I feel him in the room, like a force field. This man can take up space in the most frustrating and yet the loveliest of ways. He’s in my heart, my mind, and now, after a long time apart, he’s in front of me.” And their adventures provide some very funny moments too. “‘Sarcasm is not your color, Amelia.’ ‘No. It is, however, my new love language.’” There plenty of fun little sidetracks, but ultimately they all led back to the relationship. I really enjoyed this story and the rebuilding of a neglected marriage. “‘Marriage is not about a big beautiful wedding, or the perfect home with a white picket fence. It’s not about cute kids of perfect pets. It’s not about classy swanky interiors, a perfect meal, and fancy cars. Marriage is standing for love and what you believe in, it’s hospital stays and struggles. It’s not seeing eye to eye, but knowing that’s okay and that there’s freedom in spite of the dark. It’s paying bills and also having faith that through it all, you’ll come out on the other side stronger, together.’” The story includes anxiety representation. This is the third book in the series and there is some carryover but this story can be read as a standalone. This is a closed door romance with mild innuendo and no harsh language.
The Art of Falling in Love with the Movie Star (Again) is the third book in the Sweetkiss Creek series. While you will see some familiar characters if you've read the previous books in the series, this could certainly be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well.
As a romance reader, I love seeing a couple meet and fall in love for the first time. But as someone who has been married for 17 years, I very much know that the REAL love story is what comes next and figuring out the ups and downs life brings together. As such, I really loved Amelia and Spencer's story. There's nothing like being forced on an RV trip to bring two people back together, right? It certainly led to some laugh out loud moments along the way! But more than that, I enjoyed seeing the two of them remember why they fell in love in the first place. I am always a fan of meddling relatives, but I have to say that Aunt Hattie takes that to the next level, sending them on a scavenger hunt in an RV... from beyond the grave! And I absolutely loved every single second of it! If you're looking for a fun holiday romance with a road trip adventure and a second chance at love, you'll definitely want to check this one out for yourself.
The Art of Falling in Love with the Movie Star (Again) is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
**I received an ARC for consideration. All opinions are my own.
What a sweet, heartwarming Holiday Romance! This is book 3 of Anne Kemp’s Sweetkiss Creek Series and it can be read as a standalone. T is the first book that I have read by her and I absolutely loved it!
Spencer & Amelia are married but they are struggling. They had an agreement where they would focus on Spencer's career for a specific amount of time and then they would settle in Sweetkiss Creek to start a family. Unfortunately, Spencer did not follow through with his end of the deal and ended up separated from Amelia for a year. Amelia took some desperate measures and filed for divorce.
Amelia’s aunt passed away leaving them her beloved RV - The Dream Chaser. They set off to Florida with the sweet pup, Barney to pick up the RV but here’s the kicker…Aunt Hattie planned out a scavenger hunt to pick up some of her cherished items. Along the way, they met some amazing people, had some touching moments as well as a few not so great ones (like dropping the keys in the waste drain). But in the end, it made them realize what the next steps were in their relationship.
This book is filled with banter, tension and lots of arguing but shows that true love is worth fighting for. I adored Spencer & Amelia - although Amelia annoyed me at times, they were such a great team! There was such character development throughout the book (even with some of the side characters *cough cough* like Spencer’s dad). I loved the found family of Sweetkiss Creek and also the people they met on their road trip. The live nativity was probably one of my favorite parts of the book when Spencer had his “come to Jesus” moment.
I will certainly be going back to read the previous books and I cannot wait to see what’s next!

Thank you to @annekempauthor for the ARC of this book for my honest review!
When this book opens it’s apparent that our protagonists have been having some struggles with their marriage, but it’s what they do about it that is where the story truly begins! Spencer has been busy doing his actor thing in Los Angeles while Amelia has been setting up life in Sweetkiss Creek! As the Christmas holiday is fast approaching, they have to come together to read her aunt’s will only to find out that they must embark on a road trip scavenger hunt from Florida back to Sweetkiss Creek together in a camper van with their dog, Barney!
I feel like this book perfectly lent itself to give you the right mixture of heightened emotions while incorporating a festive vibe necessary to keep me reading! I felt bad for the couple as they had their moments where they needed to process things, but they didn’t necessarily have the means to do that! However, the timeline of events worked perfectly for the overall length of the story! All the laundry got aired out and I feel like the couple each got to have their moment in the spotlight to help make them better! This book shows a lot of personal growth, that someone will always have your back and a little bit of Christmas cheer can go a long way to make for a brilliant story.
Amelia and Spencer had it all , his movie career took off and she was happy to take backseat , even though she’s worked in the entertainment business too. Then their plans of building then moving into a house by Lake Lorelei, Sweetkiss Creek. it was her time , they would start a family and he would stay home more. But then he turned away from her and chose Hollywood. Spencer/ Spense has his movie star lifestyle going on all while on a trial separation from his wife Amelia and their beagle . And his manager , also his dad is pushing the money films, but he just wants the fun ones , ironically a romcom. He’s also driving to hopefully reconcile with his wife while also being together at her Aunt’s will reading as they are both named in it. Well here’s where the humour starts as the two are sent off on a scavenger hunt. They are forced together as they must head to Florida to pick up Hattie’s battered RV so of course the beagle must ride along too, then they must travel a route ,searching for things she’s left in various locations , working together. A wise old bird is she. Can this forced proximity and workings out help them work through their relationship and give their love a second chance … I read an advance copy of this book and my review is voluntary and in my own words
Every marriage has low points, times when the couple don't see eye-to-eye about how to reach their goals. Amelia and Spencer are in one of those valleys. I love how the author arranged for them to work through their issues. Like many people, those issues are complex and multi layered. Frequently, they are also difficult to verbalize. Spending hours on end in a tin can on wheels, on a thousand mile road trip, certainly does provide plenty of uninterrupted time to discuss differences. Doing it in a vintage motorhome that is unfamiliar to both, levels the field significantly.
Both Spencer and Amelia needed to learn to communicate effectively. They also needed to prioritize their marriage over other relationships. Sometimes they needed to look deeply inside themselves to understand why they do/did things that sabotage their interactions. It becomes a lovely little opportunity for both characters to grow closer to each other and mature into adult individuals. When they finally arrive home in time for Christmas, their HEA moment becones a precious gift for them to enjoy forever.
I received an ARC copy of this story from the author via BookFunnel and voluntarily chose to share my review.
The Art of Falling in Love with the Movie Star Again by Anne Kemp PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION He’s the celebrity whose star shines bright. She’s the wife who’s had enough. The Art of Falling in Love with the Movie Star is a second-chance Christmas rom-com with a one-year time jump, serious forced proximity, sizzling and swoony kisses, and lots of love from Barney the Beagle. It’s a chemistry and tension collision in this closed-door romance!
I totally loved this story and the characters Amelia & Spencer are fantastic, I was willing them on all through the story. A brilliant storyline that is believable and I loved the contents of Hattie's will! If I could rate this more than five stars, I would, It's a truly wonderful story, that just pulls the reader in from beginning to end. I didn't want this to finish, it's that good. I highly recommend this book to all and am looking forward to reading the next in the series.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Entertaining,Great world building, Happily Ever After, Inspirational, Page-turner, Romantic, Realistic, and Wonderful characters

You guys. This one was so good. Spencer and Amelia have been separated for nearly a year when Aunt Hattie brings them together to read her will. She sends them on an epic RV adventure.
Things I Love: 🚐that they fight for each other 🚐the trust they have in one another even though they haven’t been together 🚐the fun folks they meet along the way 🚐the live Nativity 🚐the epic movie night
I sound like such a negative nelly but this was really bad, like below average. First of all, the MMC strung her along for 8 freaking years of marriage and then disappeared into thin air one fine day, leaving her in the lurch. When she served him divorce papers, he is like "I'm so macho that she has to come back to me, I'll throw in some unconvincing words, some pawing, fondling and call it good"
The FMC is such a fool in this one. Just a few colourful words (and no actual action regarding the wrong he did in the past) and she's back to him, promising sickness and health. That dramatic tearing out the papers was not needed. After all, MMC is still in the same business, so what if he promised he would change, he could still bolt tomorrow.
It's clear that he did not want to be a dad. Ever. Why make false promises to the FMC then? (There's scene where she's lamenting about him lying to her about it. He lied so that she would stay.) I found this somewhat disturbing.
There's no grovel from the MMC for his wrong doings and nothing is changed at the end, even in epilogue.

No one can ever go wrong reading Anne kemps books!
This gives u all the hallmark feels. U feel like you actually stepped inside the movie/book.
Anne did a wonderful job on this story with a married couple having issues and trying to work their way back to each other. That aunt Hattie of hers did such a cute job on one last mission for her niece.
The ups and downs are so relatable it makes you reflect back on urself if ur feeling admist. I couldn't stop reading this. There was points I was like jumping because I needed to know what happened next.
You will eat this cute Christmas novel up in hours. I was so blessed to have won a contest to name a location in this story and Anne did not disappoint on the setting.
Sunflower falls was the winning name of a sweet spot in this story. I loved how Anne brought this scene to life. It made me reflect thinking my princess Delilah🐾 was wandering those falls.
Spencer and Amelia are married, but after spending the last year apart due to his movie career and her decision to put down roots in her hometown, she has come to the decision that their relationship is broken. Enter Amelia's Aunt Hattie who, in her will, bequeaths her RV to Amelia with a stipulation that both she and Spencer must travel to pick it up in Florida and then, once they have it, must take a road trip to pick up some things that Aunt Hattie has left with some of her friends that will remind Spencer and Amelia why they originally fell in love.
While this is the third book in the Sweetkiss Creek Series, it can be read as a standalone. The banter between Amelia and Spencer is witty and you can feel not only the apprehension she feels at giving Spencer a second chance, but also the recognition on Spencer's part of what is really important in his life. Highly recommend it!
This was a great holiday read. The RV the road trip. The chemistry of both mcs. I just absolutely loved it. It was soothing soul patch to all the Hollyweird break ups. It's showed the tenacity of two people who love one another but had to find their way back. With the help of her dead aunt who sent them on a RV trip from Florida to the Carolinas. The road trip was nothing less than hysterical. The fun they had on the way. The absolute wonderful moments of love and affection between two people who needed to step back and see. Truly this is one of the reasons why I read romance. For the characters who you fall in love with. The characters who make you laugh and sob. But manage to find the hea they deserve. If you want a truly wonderful holiday romance that's sweet and clean this is one special read.
I absolutely loved this story. It is a second chance romance for Spencer and Amelia, a married couple who had been separated from each other for a year. They were both back in the sweet, wonderful town of Sweetkiss Creek for the reading of her aunt’s will. I loved the reading of the aunt’s Will, it made me laugh at the creative way that the aunt had planned for each of their arguments about getting the RV. I loved that she was so creative to force Spencer and Amelia to spend time together and then the fun stops she required them to make. I loved the chemistry between the characters. I loved the friendships in the small town. This is such a fantastic story I couldn’t put it down once I started it until it was done. I highly recommend this fun rom-com.
Spencer and his soon to be ex-wife Amelia have to meet to hear the reading of the will of Amelia’s aunt. Spencer is a movie star and his dad is his manager and he really doesn’t care for Amelia. They have been separated for a year now. Amelia had moved to Sweet Kiss Creek, North Carolina were they were having a house built when things went awry.
This will reading sends them to Florida to pick up Amelia’s aunt old RV with instructions to stop at several places to pick up items the aunt had left. One of the best part was when Spencer had to drain the cassette! This adventure was torturous at times for the two of them but also making them work together.
I received this ARC from the author for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The book that proves that you don't need a possible love triangle to make interesting the story of an established couple. Neither a separation of years to have a second chance.
I looooooove that they both know that they love each other and they have full trust of their love. That's not the issue. But we don't live of just love, life happens, promises where broken, the ghost of old fears emerged. But thanks to a beloved deceased aunt, they get into an adventure designed to make them work in their problems and give them a second chance to their love.
It's the most authentic love story that i had read in a while (and it's about an actor!). It's about real love, no inecesary nonsense. And is funny too!
Estranged spouses. One inherited RV. A holiday scavenger hunt from beyond the grave. The Art of Falling in Love with the Movie Star (Again) delivers all the second-chance magic I love in a Christmas romcom.
Amelia thought building a quiet life in Sweetkiss Creek would bring her and Spencer closer—until Hollywood called him back, leaving their marriage in limbo. Now Spencer has returned for her aunt’s will reading… and instead of closure, they end up with a beat-up RV, a mischievous scavenger hunt, and a whole lot of unresolved feelings.
This story was such a treat. Forced proximity + holiday road-trip chaos = pure romcom gold. I loved watching Amelia and Spencer navigate old hurts, rediscover what made them fall in love, and learn to choose each other again. Add in Aunt Hattie’s meddling-from-the-grave hijinks and Barney the Beagle stealing scenes left and right, and this quickly became one of my favorite Sweetkiss Creek stories.
A heartwarming, closed-door Christmas romance full of humor, healing, and swoony kisses—perfect for anyone who believes love deserves a sequel.
This is a dual POV, clean romance. It is in a series but can easily be read as a stand alone novel. Spencer and Amelia are working to save their marriage and with the help of a road-trip planned by a deceased relative they may just get back to where they need to be. This book truly shows the ups and downs in marriage and how you have to actively work for your marriage everyday. It was refreshing to see this point of view because a lot of novels just end with a wedding or happily ever after but don’t show what can happen if the marriage starts to break. Both of these characters really had to dig deep and work towards their marriage because it isn’t a one way street.
What can I say if you have already read one of the sweetkiss books then you know what you are in for. If you haven’t read one what are you waiting for!?! I wish I could be part of this group of amazing friends. I mean who doesn’t want a group of strong women who will stick by you through all the tough times. This book will break your heart and then put it back together again as you travel the road with Spencer and Amelia. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. And you should really just read the series cuz they just get better and better.
Such a sweet reconnection of a marriage falling apart because of distance and lack of communication. I love the premise of the deceased aunt leaving a scavenger hunt that the mmc and mfc must complete together to get their inheritance. Along the way they connect with friends of the aunt and learn valuable lessons, including how to communicate and love each other well.
A fun christmas-y read, I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review! (I would have read this anyway, and recommend you so-the series of standalone books are all quite good!)
The Art Of Falling In Love With The Movie Star (again) by Anne Kemp was another good read from the Sweetkiss Creeks series. It's the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone. This book follows Amelia and her estranged husband, Spencer on an RV adventure Amelia's Aunt Hattie sent them on when she passed. The banter and the chemistry between Amelia and Spencer were written wonderfully. And Amelia's friend group is top-notch. I cannot wait for more.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
I so enjoyed this story of second chances. I loved reading as Spencer realized his mistakes and what he needed to change. Then he humbled himself and learned and grew and became better. It was inspiring. I liked that Amelia was secure in herself but also forgiving in a healthy way as she maintained boundaries and expectations. But also accepted that Spencer wanted to do and be better. She supported and respected him. I definitely recommend The Art of Falling in Love with the Movie Star (again).
I really enjoyed this book. I got sucked right into Spencer and Amelia’s world. I felt like I was right there experiencing things with them. When an author can do that, I know I’ve found someone that I will continue to read over and over. I don’t like to give things away in my reviews but I will say that this second chance at love was beautiful. You see them both grow and stand up for what they want. They both needed the space to realize what was really important. I definitely recommend this book, it’s a great read.
