Follow Dominique as she discovers she is the key to a dark prophecy in her father's magical world destined to destroy the kingdom.

With school finally over and done with, Dominique’s biggest concern is escaping the unrealistic expectations of her mother’s live-in boyfriend by trading in the boring streets of her rural town for someplace more exciting. Finding a note from the father who’d abandoned her ten years prior, her curiosity accidentally opens an interdimensional portal that sucks her and her friends into another world; one that is more fantasy than reality.

Escaping imprisonment with a runaway heir, Dominique sets out on a quest to find an infamous Archmage linked to a prophecy destined to destroy the realm. Charging across a kingdom broken by civil unrest, the group must thwart dark elven slave traders, beautiful light elven assassins, and magical creatures who suck their victims into deadly phantasms. As dark powers manifest, Dominique discovers more than she ever wanted to know about her father…triggering the prophecy’s long foretold destruction.

Distorted Prophecy by Amber Faucher is a top tier fantasy novel that felt like a giant Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

Dominique’s life isn’t the best – she lives with her Mom and her Mother’s live-in boyfriend who didn’t replace the Father who left them ten years earlier. The boyfriend irks her and clearly isn’t making her life so much better, but at least she has a dog and a collection of friends that help her survive high school. Then, one day, she finds a note from her Father and she accidentally stumbles upon an interdimensional portal that sucks her, her friends, and her dog through a portal to a fantasy world unlike our own. Dominique, Greg, and Alfredo meet a Prince who is running away from his castle after a tragic and traumatic incident fall upon the kingdom. Little do they all know, Dominique is an heir all in her own way…

Magic, fantasy, fighting, and dark powers ignite a quest where we will learn there are reasons why Dominique’s Father left and this world is unlike one simple earthlings could ever imagine…
This book felt like one intense Dungeons and Dragons campaign! I normally don’t read too much fantasy because the amount of world building, spells to remember, and crazy characters can be too much for my brain. This book had me hooked though, and I really enjoy how Amber Faucher has crafted her story. Light elven assassins, magical creatures, deadly spells, a potential love triangle, friends and foes… This book has it all. And of course, a prophecy because that seems to be the key to a good fantasy story these days.

I will definitely be needing the second book in this series because this book left me wondering what was happening next.

If I had any cons, for a reader like me – it’s a lot of fantasy with a lot to remember and it’s a longer book with over four hundred pages. Not every reader is going to enjoy it, so I like putting a small note here as a – know what you’re getting into. I had to make sure I was in the right head space since fantasy isn’t the types of book I often read. That’s not a bad thing at all, but it did influence when I chose to read so I would be in the zone to know what’s going on. And final con? A CLIFF HANGER. That’s my personal vice in all books – I hate a cliffhanger, because I know it’s going to take time for the sequel to come out and that makes me grumpy. So, I guess I will patiently wait so I can see Dom and her Dad reunite because I need to know what was going on.
My favourite part of this book was all of the pictures scattered throughout the end of the chapters. Whoever drew them – thank you! I enjoy seeing the characters as much as reading about them. The pictures helped set the mood and tone of the story for me. It’s also something I don’t see in a lot of the books for me, so it stood out. And finally… I liked the cover. I’m a marketer, what can I say? Pretty things make me happy.

Overall, great book! I will need the sequel and every book Amber Faucher crafts so I can enjoy her truly incredible stories. She’s a creative artist and I love it.

Five out of five stars.

I absolutely loved this book

If you enjoy fantasy (with a lot of plot and “world building”)
This book is perfect for you.

Each character is laid out perfectly and well written. You feel like you are within the book.

I loved the writing style and the ending definitely has me ready to read book two!
