An all-star flying reindeer shifter. A shy but clever elf. One is overworked, the other excited to take on his new first job.
This is the story of how I got stranded in a snowstorm at my boss’s house. And never left. (Did I mention my boss is a flying reindeer?)
This is the story of how I reluctantly went on a mandatory vacation and lied to Santa, all of which brought me the greatest love of my life.
Falling in love is not on their agenda, but love strikes when least expected. Can Coco and Vixen make things work in their personal lives while helping Santa have a low-stress, smooth delivery run on Christmas Eve?
Mpreg. Grumpy/sunshine. Age gap (22-40). A suspected alpha rut. An omega heat. A cool reindeer legend. Possibility of coal in a stocking. An adorable baby. Decorations, snow and roaring fireplaces. Steaming up those frosted windowpanes. HEA.
Vixen is the fourth book in the multi-author M/M Shifter Mpreg Christmas romance series Mated at the North Pole , featuring Santa’s reindeer who find their mates while on a mandatory vacation. There are ten books in the series. Why not read them all?

In the description it says there are 10 books in the series, but I count only 9.( maybe I'm missing one). All written by different authors, each book is about one of Santa's Reindeer having to take a mandatory vacation. Vixen the fourth book in the series by Wendy Rathbone is cute, sweet, and quirky with a grumpy reindeer, a sweet happy elf and a matchmaking Santa.
I really enjoyed this story. It was just a sweet happy story that put me in the mood for the holidays. If you just read something really heavy and are in need of something light and fun. This, well written story is for you. That is if you like shape shifting, Mpreg, grumpy/sunshine, and lying to Santa. Which apparently I do! Very much. Well, I'm off to read the other authors reindeer stories in the series. I have received an ARC from GRR and this is my honest opinion.
Vixen by Wendy Rathbone is part of the Mated at the North Pole series by multiple authors. This is the story of Coco and Vixen. I really liked their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and well written.
Vixen is the fourth book in the ‘Mated at the North Pole’ series written by various authors. It stars Vixen, reindeer shifter, and Coco, an omega elf. This is told in first person from Vixen and Coco’s povs.
I liked this story. The world building reminded me of a similar Christmas story I read by this author. In this author’s created world, there are multiple Santas who each have their own area of the globe which they watch over and to which they deliver packages. They also have their own teams of reindeer and Santa villages.
The blurb gives a basic run-down of the plot. This is an age gap, forced proximity story. Vixen is about forty years old and Coco is twenty-two. During the run-up to Christmas, Vixen tends to get more and more stressed and uptight. He doesn’t like handing over work to assistants but he’s forced to when Santa tells him he’s sending Coco over to help and that Vixen must take a vacation. Vixen is not happy. Coco is thrilled Santa assigned him to help Vixen. He doesn’t want to disappoint Santa, but he also doesn’t want to disobey Vixen when Vixen asks Coco to deliver all work updates to Vixen every day. And this is how their relationship starts. Coco delivers updates to Vixen’s house on the sly hoping Santa doesn’t find out. There’s forced proximity, and a snow storm.
I loved Coco. He was so eager and sweet, trying to please Santa and Vixen. He didn’t want to do anything wrong because he didn’t want Santa to give him coal in his stocking at Christmas. Vixen was uptight, and tried to get around any rules that restricted him. He didn’t want Coco helping him at first, but Coco’s eagerness and sweetness grew on Vixen. By the end of the story, I could see them as a couple.
There was an inconsistency that was obvious between Vixen’s description in the book, and the book cover. At one point Vixen is naked because he’s going to shift to fly Coco home. Coco admires Vixen’s ‘brown skin’ as he’s walking to the door. It’s clear that Vixen is at least very tanned, or genetically has darker skin. The cover has Vixen as having almost albino skin. Whoever the cover maker was, they didn’t consider what the character looked like and imposed their own preference. My guess is so the covers across the series would match. The disregard for how Vixen was described by the author, and ignored by the graphic artist, was a bad idea in my opinion. A cover artist should be trusted to understand an author’s characters and ideas, not go counter to them.
Overall, I enjoyed Vixen, the world-building, and the characters. I would read additional books if this author wrote more in this world and about its characters. I give this story, 4 Stars.
I received an ARC from the author and am giving my honest and unbiased opinion
What another great addition to this mpreg holiday series. Vixen is a low angst mpreg story of workaholic Vixen (lead reindeer sleigh 25) and his new elf assistant Coco. When Vixen is forced on vacation he has Coco still come to his house for daily updates where these two develop their bond. We have instant attraction, yes, but these two get to know one another before they further their relationship. Love how meddling Santa 25 is in getting his lead reindeer to slow down and find happiness. What's so great about this series? Each author was given the same guidelines, yet each of these stories is so different and yet all highly entertaining. Highly recommended each and every one for fun low angst mpreg holiday reads.
Can a forced staycation and an adorable elf assistant, relax an overworked lead reindeer?
This is turning into one hell of a series! This is Vixen's story. The mandatory vacation turns into a staycation. What ensures causes unexpected emotions from both Vixen and his sexy assistant, Coco. I was on the edge of my seat cheering for them to get their act together. Once they did, the story took off... literally. I loved this story! And don't get me started on Santa 25. Ooh, you are gonna love this book!
I love this author and I love Christmas books, so I was already overjoyed at seeing this entry in the multi-author series. It did not disappoint. While I’d consider the spice at a medium to medium-low in the grand scheme of things, the lust - both passive and aggressive - was off the charts and the sorry was just perfect. The flight scenes, Coco’s crush, and Vixen’s slowly increasing intensity towards Coco were beautiful. And it was all wrapped up in a surprisingly emotional ending. Loved the story!
I have read this book via Kindle Unlimited and will purchase it. Such a great read from start to finish. I enjoyed Vixen and CoCo meeting and the progression of their relationship. This book, though a stand alone, seems to flow on from Book 2. Which helps to gloss over the travisty of book 3. I'm glad the series has found its strengths. I certainly can't wait for Book 5.
Vixen, yes- Santa's actual flying reindeer shifter, that Vixen is grumpy, in need of an assistant and ordered by Santa to take a vacation. His new assistant Coco is cuter than an elf's ear, being an elf, and madly crushing on Vixen. Vixen can't help but desire him, too. Vixen is bossy, hunky and mature with attitude and Coco is sweet, adoring and star struck. They make a great combo at work, at Vixen's home and in his bed. This is a cute sparkle of Christmas cheer wrapped up in a big bow. I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.
Vixen is part of the multi-author Mated at the North Pole series. I really enjoyed this adorable story about Vixen, a reindeer shifter, and Coco, Vixen's new assistant. This is a make you feel good all over book that I will enjoy reading again and again. A little grumpy/sunshine, a little forced proximity. A lot of sweetness and steam. Definitely recommend! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Vixen decides to take his mandated vacation as a staycation and enlists his new assistant, Coco, to bring him daily reports from the office. I think so far this might just be my favorite of the series. I enjoyed Coco and Vixen together and Santa turning out to be devious. A pleasant way to spend an hour or so.
I generally love Wendy's work but this one didn't really vibe with me. I had trouble liking Vixen. He felt too cold and blah... I don't know what, but there was something missing for me unfortunately. :(
What an absolutely adorable Christmas story. Between the grumpy Vixen and the absolute ball of sunshine Coco how can you not expect to have an ooey gooey chocolate chip cookie melting of a story. Deer shifter Vixen is Santa’s lead reindeer and forced to take a vacation when he doesn’t want to, but incomes his new assistant Coco to save the day, and just maybe teach ole Vixen a thing or two about Christmas magic.
This was such a sweet holiday read. It brought happy heartwarming tears to my eyes. I love this version of Santa and the reindeers. A perfect read for when you need the feelings that only Christmas can bring.
Absolutely wonderful Christmas themed story of Salvatore Vixen a reindeer shifter and Santa’s main flyer and Coco the elf who he falls in love with . A beautifully written take with a HEA ending . A must for all romantic readers. Highly recommended
I absolutely loved this story. This is the fourth book about Santa’s reindeer and this time Vixen gets his HEA. These two were so cute together and I just loved how they got together. I can’t wait to read about the rest of the reindeer.
This was a great installment in the North Pole series. The Santa Collective all seem to have employees who don’t know how to take a break or go on vacation! Salvatore Vixen is no exception either. And when he forces his new assistant to help him by keeping him up to date on work during his staycation, he puts Coco in a bit of a tight spot. Help his boss or lie to Santa. But Santa seems to be a bit of a matchmaker. This doesn’t take long to read and is a sweet book with a bit of heat between two people who are definitely mate material.
Great-Great Grandfather Davide Vixen's advice to his grandchildren: "If you think you can do something, you should do it, even if you need to break a rule here and there, just don’t get caught".
I love the book covers in this multi-authored series, Mated at the North Pole, they are so unique. This is the third book I've read in the series and I've got to say I'm loving each of these reindeer shifters and their mates. This particular story was written by Wendy Rathbone so you know there'll be some heat and sweet times in store for these men.
Each of the books, in this multi-authored series, has a major storyline that runs through them, the santas requiring the reindeer to take a mandatory vacation before Christmas.
This story is about alpha reindeer shifter, Vixen and newly hired assistant elf, Coco. Vixen hasn't taken a vacation for 5 years and when his last assistant left him he's been left with a lot of stress. When Coco arrives, to become Vixen's assistant, he's 'star struck'... he will be working for THE VIXEN. When Santa 25 gives Vixen his vacation marching orders Vixen enlists the help of his new assistant to covertly slip him work reports outside the office.
Grumpy/sunshine, 18 year age gap, Santa sees all and knows all, hot tub shenanigans
Vixen by Wendy Rathbone is part of the Mated at the North Pole series by various authors. Salvatore Vixen is working in the main office at Christmas Village at the North Pole. He is the lead reindeer for Santa 25’s sleigh and is in charge of getting everything ready for the Christmas Eve ride delivering gifts to children. He is overworked and grumpy because he lacks help and things aren’t working out the way they should. Then Coco, an elf, arrives to be his assistant. He has some experience and is a big help to Vixen as he gets everything straightened out. Then Santa 25 throws a spanner in the works by demanding that Vixen take a 3 week vacation since he hasn’t had one in 5 years and says that no work is to be done during that time. Salvatore talks Coco into bringing him a daily report to his house each night, even though it is against what Santa said to do. Coco is so excited to have this job as he never thought he would be working at Christmas village, let alone for the lead reindeer, so he complies, even though he is worried that Santa will find out. Vixen starts making dinners for Coco’s daily visits and they begin to talk and to get to know each other. As time goes by Coco finds himself falling for Salvatore and Salvatore realizes he has never felt what he feels for Coco with anyone else. He even takes him for a ride in his reindeer form which Coco finds exhilarating. Then a snowstorm hits the town and they are stranded together in Salvatore’s house where things escalate into some very hot love scenes and Coco’s heat leads to some surprises. I really enjoyed this story and the concept that there are many Santas in different parts of the world that deliver presents on Christmas Eve. Vixen is a good, strong character who always does his job to the best of his ability. Coco is a sweetheart and wears his heart on his sleeve, always trying to please. Santa 25 is a fun character as he seems to be an all knowing behind the scenes matchmaker, who is happy that Salvatore and Coco found each other. Add in the excitement of reindeer flying and the activities surrounding Santa’s Christmas party and the Christmas Eve flight and it is a very fun read. There is also a little angst as Coco worries that Santa will find out what they are doing and then all he will get is coal in his stocking. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like light, fluffy stories that involve 2 men who work at the North Pole at Christmas time and find love together.
This is another in the series of Santa’s well known reindeer being forced to take a vacation before the big night arrives. Vixen is Santa 25’s lead reindeer, and he is getting pretty stressed and grumpy at work. He has been without an assistant for several weeks now and it is really getting to him. When Coco, an adorable, enthusiastic young elf arrives to fill the roll, Vixen is at least able to slow down a bit, until he gets an email from Santa requiring him to take a 3 week vacation or stay-cation (his choice), starting in 2 days. Reluctantly agreeing, before his last day Vixen gets Coco to agree to bring him daily updates after work, without letting Santa know. Coco’s conscience bothers him, but he does as asked. Each night, Coco reports about work to Vixen and he fixes dinner for Coco. A friendship grows, as does the attraction between them. Snowstorms and meddling by Santa complicate things as the two grow closer together, establishing a relationship, and thinking of the future.
Coco is adorable, all sunshine and positivity, easily easing Vixen out of much of his grumpiness. Vixen tries for all business, but Coco starts working his way under his defenses. The two start their time together moving slowly, getting to know each other before it moves to another level. The relationship progresses easily and naturally, friends first, then more. A sweet romance with a HEA and a great addition to series. 4.5 stars
I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
I didn't come across any technical issues like spelling, grammar, or just wrong or missing words. So 3 stars.
I just personally couldn't continue with this story. It was too much hero worship and too much an unbalanced power dynamic.
I don't feel this is a spoiler because it happens fairly quickly in the story. To elaborate on the previous statement, when Coco starts his job, all he can think/talk about is how much he wanted to work in the Santa division, how he can't believe he gets to work for Mr Vixen etc.
When Vixen is forced into a vacation, he basically bribes and threatens Cocos job in order to get him to bring daily reports to his house, even though its against the rules. Then once he's there he basically guilts/pressures him into staying for dinner.
The next day Santa emails Coco asking him to check on Vixen daily and report back. So Coco tells Vixen, cause he is conflicted. Vixen tells him to tell Santa exactly what Vixen tells him to, this causes Coco to have a breakdown at the thought of lying to Santa, and Vixen tells him he will take any heat.
This is where I stopped at page 58, I just felt gross at the power dynamic, other people might be ok with it. Thats why I starred based on the actual writing not the content.
Part of a multi-author collab - this book of the Mated at the North Pole series - sees Vixen - a flying reindeer shifter - overworked at one of the Santa's offices he's employed at, after his assistant left. He's struggling, despite the copious amounts of sugar cubes he ingests to keep his energy up. Christmas Village might be beautiful, but it doesn't offset the extra workload he has for the three months leading up to Christmas. Help comes in the form of an adorable and efficient omega elf Coco. Unfortunately it's a bit too late. The Santas have noticed a few of the reindeer working too hard and being extra grumpy, so they've ordered Vixen and a few others to take mandatory vacation time. And Vixen begrudgingly agrees to three weeks of staycation. However, he insists that Coco give him daily reports, and what starts as visits to Vixen soon develops into a wonderful friendship then much more. The worldbuilding is good, with a mix of traditional Christmas village magic and modern conveniences, and the affection between the two is sweet. It's a decent book with lots of steam, cute Christmas scenes, and a HEA.
This is super sweet and a fun re-imagination of sexy North Pole omegaverse love and I really liked this one. I found the story to be creative and sexy, with great pacing and palpable romantic development. The details surrounding the North Pole subdivisions in terms of housing, finance, and labor were described with enough detail to intrigue without readers getting stuck “in the weeds.” It’s a fated mates story, but didn’t have that immediate sex aspect that’s often common in those plots. We have both POV characters examining their experiences of initial attraction that grew and deepened the more time they spent with one another. I liked that they were both unsure and had some qualms about the passion they were feeling. The story had a more romantic vibe as a result.
I love these Santa's, they just can't keep their noses out of other's business. But, when all is said & done, they do know what's best and they make the best matchmakers. So I've read book 1 and now book 4 and I don't believe you need to read them in order. We didn't see the couple from book 1 in this one. There are 69, love that, Santa's and so far the famous reindeer are not with the same Santa. So we have Coco, who is the sweetest Elf ever and Vixen who is such a control freak. Santa forces Vixen to take a vacation and he pressures his new assistant Coco to bring him daily reports. And if you think you can get a fast one past Santa, you are so very wrong. I loved watching these two fall in love. The only real difference between the two books is that Vixen's reindeer doesn't talk him like Dasher's did. Also I loved that Vixen flew with Coco. These are books that I will be going back to around the holidays every year.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest opinion.
Vixen is an adorable Christmas shifter romance. Workaholic Vixen is the lead reindeer for one of Santa’s sleighs, and he’s under a ton of stress as he prepares for Christmas. Coco, an elf, is hired to be his assistant and does his job with joy and efficiency. Vixen is forced to take a vacation, so he comes up with a plan to have Coco visit him in secret every night to keep him updated on everything that’s happening at the office. As they spend time together, their relationship morphs from strictly professional to a tentative friendship and eventual romance. Coco’s cheerfulness brings out a softer side of gruff Vixen. I love how they balance each other, and they’re a wonderful combination of sweet and spicy together. Rathbone does an awesome job of creating a magical world that perfectly captures the spirit of the season.
Salvatore Vixen is under overwhelming stress, can't get his invoices and spreadsheets to align, and is beginning to snap at all the elves that work for him. Coco is assigned to him as his assistant. And immediately straightens out the number mismatches on the spreadsheets. A week into this new arrangement, Santa 25 decides that Vixen needs a holiday. Vixen agrees to a staycation. He also plans on not giving up the reigns on his team, enlisting the aid of his new assistant. Coco brings him a daily report, meanwhile updating Santa about Vixen. It's definitely a rom-com type story. Sweet. The only angst is Coco worrying that they're going to get coal in there stockings over misleading Santa. A quick fun read. A HEA and baby. Loved the reindeer rides. I received an advance copy of this book, this is my honest review.
Coco is excited to start his new job as the assistant to Vixen, a bigwig at Christmas Village. He loves his new job but the overworked Vixen is upset to learn that Santa is making him take a vacation. Unable to completely take a vacation, he asks Coco to bring him daily updates. Coco is not sure he should because they would be lying to Santa but he is loyal and so agrees. The weather gets tough and one night he is snowed in with Vixen. Things change quickly.
This is such a delightful story with so much happening, including grumpy/sunshine, age gap, MPREG, and maybe even coal in the stocking. One thing is for sure, smiling while reading is sure to happen. There are ten books in this series and I am sure each one will be a delightful as this one. I received a complimentary ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it to my pleasure. The opinions are my own.
