Second Chances: An old friends-to-lovers romance novella

Rate this book
An old crush and an old pain. Can they move on to find love again?
Five years ago, I had a secret crush on my neighbor. The problem was that we were both in relationships. That was, until I caught my boyfriend and his girlfriend in bed together.
Liam left his girlfriend, and I moved out, moved away, and moved on from my boyfriend without ever telling Liam how I felt. The pain was too much for both of us.
I never expected to see my old crush again after so many years. And I certainly never expected him to see me naked.
Getting over my embarrassment is just the first hurdle I must clear because my feelings for Liam are back and stronger than ever. But can I look at him and not remember my past? More importantly, can he look at me and not see his?

Second Chances was originally written in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes World project under the title Faint.

I absolutely loved it. Sometimes you just with the wrong person and the right person for you is just under your nose.

I love how their story was brought together, but also how they had their own healing journeys

Rescue You Back

This novella is sweet, yet dirty. It doesn't have the same intensity of some of their other books, but I still like Chloe Becker and Liam Stevens' second chance story.

We didn’t need to talk to each other as we rode home. Being in each other’s presence was enough.
-- Liam Stevens

Their past plays a big role in their present in various ways. I appreciate the realism of how being cheated on can impact ones psyche in different ways. I also like how they help each other deal with the fallout, even if it is several years later.

I will admit to liking how the steam builds and blows the first time or two. It's a bit questionable, and I like the struggle they have and how they get to the other side of it. Some may see it as dubcon, so keep that in mind if it's a sensitivity.

I voluntarily reviewed an author copy of this book. This was previously released as Faint.

From the high of getting her first tattoo to the crushing blow of seeing her boyfriend cheating with the next-door neighbour, Chelsea's emotions are turned topsy-turvey. But 5 years and new friends have given her perspective. Until an unforseen incident brings back into her life the one man she secretly crushed on. Will their shared past become a change for future happiness? Will she take a chance on Liam's love? Will her tattoo ever get finished?

This story really made me smile! I enjoy second chance loves and this had the bonus of a remote cabin during a storm. Who wouldn’t want to go “glamping” with a tattooed, studly hero? (Seriously, he’s a paramedic, he saves lives!)
If you need a pick-me-up in one sitting, this is the novella for you.
The only reason I gave this a 3 instead of a 4 is because it’s a novella and I wanted the story to keep going!

(I received this book as an ARC for the purpose of this review)

Ok so here are my thoughts. The book is great. I wish it was longer and told more in Liam’s POV. Also, the ending was great but I wish it would’ve ended with a proposal something she basically kept fussing about. I love their chemistry and their past. Let’s just say Liam is definitely a great book boyfriend.

Quick and cute read!

Chloe has a crush on her neighbor but both she and Liam are in separate relationships and she knows better than to act on it. It's too bad their partners don’t know that. Now five years later and in a different town across the state, they find each other again and rekindle their friendship. But a weekend away to wallow over what was broken five years ago brings them closer together. So what happens when their exes show up?

Chloe and Liam get their happy ending in this standalone novella in a series.

Poor Chloe, she really had bad luck in the relationship field before Liam showed back up. I do wonder if she was a pharmacist back in their old town or just finishing her degree then. And shame on Liam’s ex for trying to make him feel bad about a new relationship.
