Rate this book
Each of us was created to live a life that has distinct purpose and that leaves a unique imprint on the world.  #1 New York Times bestselling author Joyce Meyer helps us learn how to hear and follow God’s voice when He calls us.

Did you ever dream about what you would be when you grew up? We think naturally about our purpose because God tells us that He created us to do great things. But how do we know when we have truly found God’s calling for our lives? Many people live most of their lives striving to find and follow God’s will but still wondering whether they’ve gotten it right. The many pressures, expectations, and distractions we experience can create confusion and anxiety and cause us to doubt whether we are following God’s will or if He even has a plan for us at all.

Beloved Bible teacher Joyce Meyer invites us on a journey to confidence, freedom, and peace through exploring the wisdom of what the Bible tells us about God’s character and about His love and purpose for us. She also offers practical steps to discovering how to build your trust in God, seek His guidance, and overcome the fear of missing out on His best for you.

If you’re struggling to have confidence that you can hear God’s voice and know what He’s created you to be and do, Finding God’s Will for Your Life will leave you with more peace and more confidence to live joyfully in God’s love and walk the path He has for you.

If I could give this a 0 star, I would. I found little biblical truth in this idealistic, romanticized version of faith in Christ & life as a Christian. This type of thinking is equally dangerous & harmful as the “fire & brimstone” narrative. The entire book is contradictory—it promotes an extremely passive & self-centered way of following Christ yet preaches an active & others-focused faith. Telling people to simply “smile” and to ignore bad things in the world as ways to be happy is not biblically sound & extremely dismissive of the reality of sin at work in the world (Matt. 11:28, 1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 34:18). My hackles were already raised when I read that this author has published over 140 books and was on TV, radio, & online…no one needs to hear that much of US—we should spend more time pointing to the Word of God than to our own teaching. Reading things like “sometimes you don’t even need to pray” or “when I was a baby Christian” immediately disqualifies this as a valid source of theological wisdom. The author speaks as if she has reached a point where she knows all that there is to know. The Bible I read & interpret tells me I should always strive for a “child-like faith” (Luke 18:17, Matt. 18:2-4)—not to be an “adult Christian,” a term she uses multiple times; and that God is the only one who is omniscient. We are to pray without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:16-17) & practice humility in all that we do (Phil. 2:3).

Regardless of anyone’s specific opinion of this author or this book, I always urge you to use discernment & wisdom when ingesting theology found outside of the Scriptures themselves!! :-)

4: Quick, easy read that also contained a lot
of substance and wisdom that was easy to dissect and process. This book honestly felt like I was listening to Joyce have a casual conversation with me, and I love that about it. Sometimes that’s the best form of communication with topics that are more dense.
I definitely got a lot out of this read that I needed to hear during this season of my life. I will be implementing what I learned and be more self-aware of my habits as a Christian. This was a fantastic read for my current life circumstances as I deconstruct my past while also looking forward to the future.

A great read if you’re looking for a simplistic approach in understanding God’s purpose for each of us and being reminded of the importance of scripture that is embedded throughout the chapters.

It is definitely an easy read with reflective points that makes you evaluate your own actions and encourages you to pick up that Bible to further your own knowledge. I often felt as if she was sitting down and having a conversation with me when reading this book.

The only gripe I had were some of the personal examples that were not easily relatable- specifically a woman losing her spouse and son six months apart and then finding happiness with a kitten afterwards. I just couldn’t wrap my head around that example. However, her own personal trials and her vulnerability in sharing her share of mistakes made up for this one section.

No way Joyce did the writing here. Couldn’t get past the story on page 12 about a woman whose husband and son died 6 months apart. The woman wanted to kill herself BUT! one day, a stray kitten finds her and she makes him happy. “Knowing she made him happy put a smile on her face, and then her eyes were opened to the key to being happy for the remainder of her life. All she had to do was stop thinking about what she lost…she started helping others anytime she could and went on to enjoy a happy life” Wtf?

Upon reading this book I felt many pricks to the heart. Although I didn't agree with everything or all uses of verses, I really enjoyed hearing her perspective and digging into the Bible verses she referenced. I do feel some weight lifted off my spirit after reading a new perspective about God's plans for me. She mentions a few times what her past self was like- someone I very much relate to. Nice to share struggles with a big name Bible teacher.

“A passive person wants something good to happen and they intend to sit and wait to see if it does. Active people go after things. They search, examine, pray, seek, and listen.” This was a great read and a good reminder for me to stay active and intentional with understanding God’s will for my life!

I had high hopes as her books are inspiring. It was short which I enjoyed. But I just didn’t find any jaw dropping take a ways.

I love how she said we can hear from God through peace, nature, wisdom and common sense. That's something I never thought about much. 🌷📖

"Don’t analyze your options for so long that you become stuck and unable to move forward. Overthinking causes a great deal of confusion and can keep you stagnant.
Sometimes you simply need to quiet your mind and see what is in your heart—and there you will find God’s will."

"We live in the world, but we don’t have to let what is happening around us make us unhappy. We can avoid a lot of negativity by simply not listening to or reading too much about all the negative things that are happening. Fill your mind and conversation with all the good things you can think of. Be filled with hope for the future."

"People are usually eager to give you their opinion, but that doesn’t mean they are right. What they do may be right for them, but not for you. Follow God and follow peace—and you will end up exactly where God wants you to be."

Joyce Meyer continues to share Godly Wisdom. Insights here create or restore a Trust in the Power of God that works in us, how He speaks to & through us, & let's us know that we may be the only Jesus others see. When we look in, wait, & listen, & continue to do what we know is right, there our purpose continues to be revealed.
