2.8 ⭐️ 🪷 Abstract energy art with positive mantra’s for reinforcement. A very gentle, quiet and simplistic meditation for those that need prompting or something tangible. Much of the imagery is the same style as the front cover, so that’s a great sample of what to expect.
🕊️ The images and mantras felt peaceful and warm, protective and surrounded with love. Overall, this book left me feeling like I was a spectator of someone else’s aura and poetic thoughts, but didn’t really leave me feeling expansion of my own mind.
Thanks to NetGalley for offering me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I won a hard cover edition of Beaming in a goodreads giveaway. I had never heard of the author before so I was interested to read the book.
Three of my favorite exercises from beaming are breath in all the good breath out all the bad, The exercise where you imagine being a tree; roots growing out of your feet, your torso is the trunk, The third exercise I like is image a bubble surrounding you.
And I also like another thing that the author write in the book. Forgive your past self. I think that is what she wrote. I struggle with that. Forgiving my past self is something I want to do.
At the beginning of the book there are about 3 pages of text. One of the things the author mentions is that when you are younger the world is a magical place full of amazing things. I don't think those were her exact words but, she wrote something like that.
I agree with that. When I was younger everything or at least a lot of things seemed a lot more fun than they do now. And it would be great if I could get that wonder back in my life.
I thought the colors that the book uses are relaxing and calming and while reading the book I did feel more calm and relaxed. I also like that there is not much text on a page so I can read the page over and over again pretty quickly.
I am not sure what to think of the art. It seemed to me that most of the art was circles. Though each page was also filled with gradients of colors. I think it was in the back of the book on the about page for the author where it said her art uses a lot of geometric shapes and gradients.
So I thought I learned at least a few things from beaming that I remember and practice daily.
A pleasantly polychromatic and rather charming book guaranteed to take the reader on an expansive and stimulating journey toward self discovery. Mainly by way of radiant rainbow line-based artwork.
Inside the book is filled from cover to cover with gorgeous geometrically abstract illustrations displayed on undulating variegated backgrounds. Appearing along side these illustrations often appear bits of advice, uplifting affirmations, reminders of self-care, or directions to find joy or journal.
Although this work is categorized as a self-help book, I would argue that it is much more so an art book. Although it does on more than one occasion inspire the reader towards helping themselves, the overall word count of the piece is impressively low to be realistically defined as being in the self-help genre.
Regardless of it's classification, the guided mindfulness, tips for breathwork and quips of positivity offered throughout the book are all of solid, sound advice. We all need reminded to journal, to do breathwork, and to spend time being more introspective now and then. This book does just that for you, while being super fun to look at. So, who really cares about the genre anyway?
A coffee-table-book-lover's dream, it's the epitome of aesthetically pleasing with every last one of it's pages printed in FULL. RICH. COLOR.
So, if you have a large, empty coffee table and you feel like awakening your intuition on a gently stimulating journey toward self growth, then this here might just be your book.
This book is filled with radiant visualizations and mantras that might help inspire you or help you relax. This isn't a book that you sit down and read. I leave it on my coffee table and flip to a random page now and then and try to reflect on the message and art even if for just a few minutes.
If you're uncertain whether this book is for you, check out the author's Instagram, @beamingdesign. The book is very similar to her Instagram posts. If you enjoy the art in the posts and want either more of the art or want it in book form, you'll appreciate this book. I appreciate having the printed book because I feel the disconnect from technology is part of the mindfulness experience.
While there wasn’t anything new here in the form of ideas or inspiration, I loved the colorful aspect of the pages. It might make a nice gift book for a young person who is going through a difficult time. Very clever and creative! Could also be used a journaling prompts. Just open to a random page and write what you think or have experienced with a certain prompt.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you for this ARC in exchange for honest feedback. The book contains some great journal prompts, basic reminders to be present and tips for self care. I like the concept of this book but felt it didn’t hit the mark for me and maybe I didn’t meditate on the images long enough. In physical form, this could be a beautiful coffee table addition.
Visually beautiful book. I loved the meditations but ultimately felt this was a little too abstract for me. I wanted it a little more grounded. I don’t know maybe I just wasn’t getting it.
