This 2nd chance so-called romance is why I tend to stay the heck away from them…..
SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!
PLOT first.
H & h were in love but at age 18 (h) and H (20), they found out heroine was pregnant with their son and because both their parents wouldn’t support them, they decided to split so that they can focus on their careers and co-parenting their kid – for 10 freaking whole years!
And this is my problem with this plot. First of all, I am tired of Authors constantly excusing stupid behaviors and decisions by saying they were “too young”. While 19 & 20 is young, they are not babies. They are just starting out into adulthood and that to me is not a valid excuse for them to separate.
Secondly, they said they couldn’t be together then because Hero needed to focus on his NHL career and he didn’t have the money to support a wife & kid. First of, he was getting paid. He wasn’t playing in NHL for free so he definitely could support them and it contradicts this reasoning because it is said that he was sending child support to heroine regularly and a generous sum too! Then there was heroine. She wanted to be a Lawyer and she had to put her career dreams for the first half of her kid’s life on hold to raise him. Okay, so why couldn’t she & the kid live with and travel with Hero to be a family? Why did she need her parent’s money & help with raising her kid when she was getting a generous kid allowance for herself & kid from Hero for 10 long years? She could still have gone to college and raise their kid together. See? Plot holes galore.
Then there was the biggest and main reason why I pretty much skimmed this thing and DNF’d a couple of times. For 2 people who we are told over & over again were soulmates and never stopped loving each other, they sure didn’t act it. We are told that Hero had girlfriends throughout the 10 yr separation (one in particular that heroine mentioned she met at a game when she was with her son who was very beautiful) and she also dated as well though only one BF was given as an example by Hero.
Heroine was a virgin when they met so I assume he was not as it was not mentioned that she was his first too. So in the 10 yrs, they pretty much had relationships (not flings) with OP and allowed their son to meet them. We are not given any details about all these OP. Not how long they dated or how they felt about them and why it didn’t work out, etc. It was just mentioned and forgotten like it was nothing, but to me it was a very big deal because if they are soulmates & still in love with one another, you would think that it would hurt them to see each other with OP but nothing was said. Not even any jealousy expressed which is why I did not buy into this so called BS romance.
And then there was the 10 year separation. Hero retired from the game when story begins and heroine is just about to start her career, so why wait for whole 10 years to reunite? Why not 3 or even 5 for Pete’s sake? In the 10 years they were apart, they (Hero mostly) gained a whole lot experience with OP. I could have possibly upped my rating if they had stayed celibate and not been able to move on with anyone else especially as we are told over & over again in every other page how much they still loved one another and never stopped. Nothing says ILY better than to f**k someone else and shove them in your beloved’s face.
So in a nutshell, if this is what someone’s idea of love & romance is, then I must be living in another century and if you are expecting any real depth/emotional read, then look elsewhere because all this has is from first chapter till the end is the MCs getting together right away & exchanging ILYs and basically The End. No 3rd party act, No OP drama & No other conflict. It’s basically heroine trying to study & pass her final exam to become a Lawyer, a bit of sex here & there and some pre-teen tantrums with MCs kid. In a nutshell? BORING!!!!!!!!!

The third and final book in the Lake Spark series, this is a gorgeous second-chance-romance full of swoon and intensity, as a hockey star finally gets his second chance with the love of his life, the mother of his son.
Ford Spears is a professional hockey player, and the third in a trio of friends who own properties in the same cul-de-sac in Lake Spark. We haven’t seen much of Ford in the series so far, and though characters from the previous books make very welcome appearances, this book can absolutely be read as a standalone.
Ford and Brielle are first loves who got pregnant when they were both teenagers. Meddling parents and their genuine attempts to do the right thing resulted in them separating, but they remained friends and now successfully co-parent their 10-year-old son, Connor. But their feelings for each other have never changed and they still love each other fiercely, it’s just buried underneath the busy-ness of their lives, and they’ve both done their best to just ignore it.
But Ford has decided that their time has come. He lures Brielle into spending the week with him at his home under the premise of ‘family time’, and promptly ships their son off to camp (genius!), keeping her all to himself, and he even wrangles a brief fake relationship performance as well. The chemistry is sizzling, and now that he has her, he holds nothing back as he pours his heart out and asks for his second chance.
You’ve gotta love a smitten hero who holds nothing back and goes all out to get his girl. Ford puts himself right out there, hiding nothing from Brielle, and every moment of it is an absolute swoonfest!
Brielle is understandably scared, and reluctant to put her heart on the line again, but she can’t deny her feelings, and we get the most beautiful reconciliation story that is sweet, fun, passionate, gorgeously romance and so freaking easy. These two so clearly belong together, and I loved watching them give in to years of longing and finally come back to where they were meant to be.
They have challenges to face as they figure out how to bring their young family back together, but there’s no unnecessary angst or drama, they follow their hearts and work through it all sensibly, and I adored their journey.
This is the final book in the Lake Spark series, but there’s a spin-off, and the small-town hockey romance series Lake Spark Off-Season series will start with Ford’s sister, Violet, and I cannot wait!
I loved this book. It’s a sweet, fun and easy read, and left me feeling completely loved-up.

I thought that “Worth the Wait” was a beautiful conclusion to Evey Lyon’s Lake Spark series!
When Brielle found out she was pregnant at 18, she and Ford were determined to make it work.
Only problem? Their parents told Ford and Brielle that they had to end their romantic relationship if they wanted their support.
At the time they listened, because they were young teenagers who were scared but determined to do right by their son, Connor.
Now it’s 10 years later, but Ford and Brielle never really got over each other. The difference now is that they’re both adults, and Ford is determined to prove to Brielle that they can truly have it all.
Ford and Brielle’s second chance romance was so freaking sweet. It did have some angsty moments, but I was rooting for them the whole time.
Ford was an utterly swoony character to read about because it was obvious from the beginning how in love he was with Brielle, and how much he cared about the wellbeing of their son, Connor.
As for Brielle, I thought she was such a kindhearted and strong heroine. She put her dreams on hold so she could be a good mother to Connor, which requires a level of sacrifice that not everyone is capable of.
I would highly recommend the Lake Spark series to any fan of small town romance! Evey Lyon is an amazing writer, and after that teaser in the epilogue, I can’t wait to start reading the spinoff series!

Um second chance perfeito, é isso que este livro é ❤️ foi simplesmente maravilhoso ver o Ford e a Brielle a darem uma nova oportunidade ao seu amor; oportunidade essa que não parece nova, é o que sempre esteve destinado a acontecer...só que foi adiado.
Adorei cada instante, só gostava de ter mais destes dois porque são perfeitos como pais, perfeitos como casal... Colocaram-se sempre em segundo lugar e agora isso muda 😭
Foi a maneira perfeita de terminar esta saga, e também a maneira perfeita de apresentar a saga spin-off que aí vem 🤭 mal posso esperar por mais!!!

From the beginning I knew this book was made for me, Small town romance, Second chance, Hockey player those tropes are made for me… and I wasn’t disapointed at all.
Brielle and Ford were always meant to be together. Through the years they always shared a special bond but never crossed the line.
I really adored this story, it was simple but effective, easy to read and so well written. I loved the relationship that Brielle and Ford have with their son and to see them face the evolution of Connor who is becoming a teenager. They are doing such a great job in co-parenting their ten year old son Connor.
It was also funny when Ford was with his friends who also are his neighbors.
What I liked the most in this book, is the story of Brielle and Ford, their not-so-simple past and the future that Ford wants to build with her. Ford is fully in its quest and is ready to do anything to make it work. They are both so beautiful and they are so fusional when they are together.
I really enjoyed the time passed reading it. Thank you very much for this story and I can’t wait for the next book. I’m looking forward to read it.

Ford Sears has only ever had eyes for Brielle. The more they keep up the pretence of keeping to the rules and not crossing the lines, the worse his want is.
Brielle silently checks him out every time she sees him.
They do parent their son, Connor and lines need to be crossed as Ford can’t stay away much longer.
So he has a plan. Sorts out a family week for the three of them, but with a twist. The twist is Connor is still away at camp but he forgot to tell Brielle.
This week is for them.
But meeting up with Margo, a long time neighbour who is now moving to Florida to be nearer family as she’s getting older, he’s told her a little lie. But how far from the truth does he want this to be?
You can feel the energy and the want between Ford and Brielle with every meeting they have. The electric between them shows no time has gone between their love for each other. But their parents all those years ago had a pact for her to bring their baby up and follow her dream of being a lawyer and his dream of being a professional ice hockey player. So they decided to do this and split up for all their own good.
They really shouldn’t have listened. Time has stood still in their love and I just loved seeing their relationship and Connor becoming what it does.
Great story as always from Evey, well written and the story is tight. There is no drawn out parts which is fab and I read every damn word of this story.
Now can’t wait for Violets story, Ford’s sister. This is going to be interesting. Lake Sparks is full of characters!!

Evey Lyon has once again created a wonderful story. She is one of those authors that will always be a definite read for me. She creates heartfelt stories that tend to stay with you long after you've finished reading the book.
Ford and Brielle's story is sweet and heartwarming with a touch of comedy and spice. Her supporting characters from the previous books are funny and loveable. The small lake town has a bit of quirkiness that I love.
It's a small town, second chance, forced proximity romance with a note of hockey included. It's a perfect light read that just warms the heart and soul.

An addicting love story 10 years in the making - Ford and Elle had a surprise baby when they were young. Their parents convinced them they could not achieve their dreams if they were together, but Elle's parents agreed to support her and the baby if they broke up, allowing Ford to pursue his hockey dreams. Now all the impediments of before are removed.
I absolutely loved Ford and Elle's story. Since getting a sneak peak of Ford and Elle in Spencer's book, I have been waiting to see how their love story plays out - and Evey Lyon did not disappoint. Worth the Wait is, well, worth the wait! You'll fall in love with Ford, Elle, and their son Connor as they find their way forward to a future together instead of continuing to live parallel lives.

I received this book as an arc and this is my honest review. Ford & Brielle have a history that to some may seem complicated but to them it’s just normal life. Now it’s time to make some decisions and it will take both of them wanting the same things or at least being on the same page to get there. I can’t wait to read the spin off series.

Not what I expected…in a good way
The blurb on this book made me think the two main characters were divorced and I thought the notion of the MMC lying to get his former wife alone for a week was creepy. In actuality, the situation was a bit different. I liked the main characters and liked the references back to Hudson and Piper (my favorite of the three books). I do however wish there had been a couple of chapters on the two MC’s lives during the 10 years they were apart…just to help me appreciate their thoughts and struggles during that time.

Ford went off to have a successful hockey career and Brielle just finished law school. They have achieved their goals but at the expense of their family. Ford decided that he’s had enough of not being with the woman he loves. He convinces Brielle to spend some time with him. This time together reveals that they love each other and always have. They have been miserable for the ten years they’ve been separated.
Ford and Brielle had to stand up to their parents who they resent for keeping them apart. Brielle’s dad was a real piece of work. I was happy when Ford and Brielle got him straight.

Bizarre cheesy dialogue.. too many leaps of faith to get on and stay on board for the duration of the book.
The fact that she very easily jumps on board with his ridiculous engagement proposal and lies to her to get her to his house makes no sense. After 10 years of co-parenting, they both would have better sense than that, especially when their child is in the mix.
And I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure that your IUD doesn't get removed "as precaution" during an appendectomy unless the IUD migrates, which isn't the case here. If the IUD was working as normal, you're not at a higher risk of infection from abdominal surgery because you have one it.
Seriously, what's with the parents being so against 2 grown adults deciding its their time to try the relationship out again. They weren't babies when they found out about the pregnancy, and they're certainly not babies now. Seems like a lacklustre, desperate attempt to add in a bit of extra drama to the story. "Mum, dad, I'm 28 now, and I'm gonna be with my boyfriend/girlfriend cause I want to now matter what you say" isn't the big F You that the author intends it to be.

WHAT A SWEET STORY. I seriously got myself lost in Ford and Brielle and their little world. I had never read anything by this author before, but I'm a definitely going back to read the first two books of this series! My only complaint is that the characters rolled over so easily in the beginning. I know they were young and scared, but they let their parents make decisions for them. It was difficult to not hate their parents. But maybe it was justified.
Ford and Brielle had co-parenting down to a science - but they always wanted each other. The amount of guilt heaped on them by their parents is just unforgiveable. They built their lives, raised their son and always kept a civil distance, until their obstacles weren't in the way any more - then all nets were off. I loved the banter, the steam and the angst. I completely understood how both of them were feeling! I have a soft spot for kids in romances, so this one was right up my alley :)

Second chance romance
Audiobook review: Narrated by P.J. Ochlan and Lu Banks
4 stars for story / 4.5 stars for performance
This is such a sweet second chance romance. Ford and Brielle had an accidental pregnancy when they were barely 18 and due to pressure from their parents, they went their separate ways. Although they weren't together, they did have a healthy co-parenting relationship but never quite reconnected themselves. This story takes place 10 years later when Ford's hockey career is over and Brielle is just getting ready to start her career in law. While I love the premise and the characters, there was not much in the way of drama. While things did feel a little easy, it was still a nice read and I appreciated the small bit of family tension to amp the drama a bit.
The narration was great. I was very impressed by P.J. Ochlan's range and the unique voices he brought to the various characters he played. Every emotion was on point and his "Connor" was amazing. Lu Banks also has such a sweet lilt to her voice and was pleasant to listen to.

so they listened to their parents, they didnt get married as they had to move on and achieve their goals, yet they managed to co-parent their son for 10 fucking years.
Both were in love with each other, and at least he had a full time job with a good pay check (NHL player , not a blue collar one). They both dated other people but because they had promised each other not to indulge into a relationship, every contact was touch and go.
And when CONVENIENTLY he retired, he wanted to make everything right with her, convince her to marry him etc... Hell to the fuck no
Also I found the kid so disrespectful. A 10 year old is still a mama's boy, I get that he was growing fast and he came from a broken (because that is what is was) home but the author wrote him like a true brat.
So no, I did not enjoy it, there was no logical/plausable baseline that could make me like the characters and their romance.

This was a quick, fun and heartwarming second chance romance! The chemistry and connection between Brielle & Ford was palpable. I was rooting for them since the beginning because it was evident how much they longed for each other. But I felt like the reason for their initial separation was too stupid and if there weren't mentions of them seeing other people on top of the ten year separation, I would've loved the book more tbh. Still, the side characters were really great (except Brielle's parents) and I liked how they elicited a sense of community in the story. So overall, this was an enjoyable read with good characters, a little small town charm with emphasis on family, healing and a whirlwind romance!

Ford and Brielle a steamy second chance romance. A great closed proximity of two people who have placed everything on hold to be better co-parents. The back history these two share was heart breaking. I couldn’t even deal with the sad history these two share and how communication could have played a major role in their past, present and future. Ford is definitely top notch book boyfriend material and he is so damn sweet and caring and what a huge heart. He is such a cinnamon role 🫠. This is another great book by Evey. I have officially gone down the rabbit hole and i’m not complaining.

Connor is a smart kid and gives his dad a hard time which is comical at times. There are funny moments and sad moments but I enjoyed this book and read in one day.

Such a wonderful second chance romance! I love this series and Ford and Brielle's romance was so wonderful. Ford has always loved Brielle but circumstances and guilt kept him from moving forward. He finally makes the choice to pursue her and he goes all out. Ford is the book boyfriend everyone is looking for. Brielle is a strong, assured, wonderful mom who has spent years only thinking about her son. This is a fantastic sweet romance with it's fair share of spice!

Wow, a great story about second chances. These two were basically, steered away from being together, yet their feelings were always there. This story will take you to all the feels, what's been missed, can this work, and how will it affect our son? Then the negative comments from a parent. Hang in for a great ride, loved it!❤️

1. I liked how unique the relationship between Brielle and Ford was. They were teen sweethearts, got pregnant, and successfully coparented, but they didn't date.

okay read
This book took quite a while to settle into. Just didn’t feel like it made sense and I struggled to work out what was going on after 10 years. Took till 2/3 of the book for the real story settle and then was really good. The parents role was ridiculous even as the couple were older. Anyway was just okay due to time it took to get going.

Lyon has a way with words and hearts. I love a story that has the presence lot mind to speak it's truth while holding your attention. On all levels Worth the Wait is a perfect "10. From the heart tingles to the sensory overload, Lyon and company is addictive romance.

Five stars. Have really enjoyed this book and this series so far. Looking forward to completing the Lake Spark series. Every Lyon builds great chemistry among her characters and keeps her readers pulled Ingo the stories. Safe for most over 18 romance readers these days..

I really wanted to like this story but I had a hard time seeing the point. They both wanted to be together but because their parents thought they shouldn’t be they didn’t. They spent 10 years apart when he was working successfully in the NFL and could have supported her and their child. Then when they decided to get together as adults their parents still didn’t want them together. They have a child and their parents were acting like they were still 18 and throwing their lives away. Just made no sense. Maybe a better story would have been seeing them go through the struggle of finding out they will be teen parents and then navigating all that and finding their way. But I felt like we were just jumped into them as adults with a kid and no reason to be apart.
