I've lost count of the number of Lunar Mate ceremonies I've attended where every eye is on me.

As the son of shifter royalty, I'm supposed to find a fated mate who will continue my family's powerful legacy. But at forty years of age, everyone is starting to think that person doesn’t exist, including me.

Then I experience a pull so deep and so undeniable, that when I look up and meet the eyes of a waitress, our gazes lock. Recognition sparks between us.

In an instant, I'm sure. This woman is mine.

I can tell my parents sense the connection, too. But judging by their expressions, they know something I don't.

Like me, they're aware she's special. But the fear in their eyes tells me she's the last person on earth they want to be my mate…

Okay… so this is the first year I’ve read any romance novels and I’ve been exploring different sub-genres. Wolf shifter romance is one of those. I thought, “hey, I like Jacob from Twilight as much as the next person, so I’ll give this type of book a try.”

This is rated the #1 wolf shifter romance on Kindle Unlimited, and wow is it just not good. I actually didn’t hate the wolf shifter part of the book. But here are my complaints:

-it says this book is 639 pages but it stops counting at 631, and that’s where the book is only 50% done. It’s literally a 1,200+ page book. Which, honestly I wouldn’t have minded if it was great. However, I really feel like those other 639 pages on the second half could have been replaced with the end couple of chapters and it would have made the book better- might have even given it 3 stars. Those extra 600 pages did not add any real value or excitement to the reading. I found myself skimming just to get done with it and didn’t miss much.

-the more I kept reading the more bored I became and the more I grew to dislike the whiny and indecisive characters. I mean make a freaking decision and move on with your life. You’re not a teen. You’re 30-40 years old. Communicate with each other and stop being immature.

Will not be reading any more from this series/author.

Not really worth it.

It was a lot of internal monolog. Very very slow. I wouldn't have minded it so much if the story was actually captivating. They are supposed to 40 and 30 years old, but the way the characters were written, they felt very immature. A really super slow drag to find out what the main character really was and the back story. I like that The main character was a strong female. But it does not make me want to read book 2 at all.

I dnfed this at 63% but didn't want to give it a bad review because it was a good book. It was well written and the characters are pretty great. I just couldn't keep reading with the amount of miscommunication and lying. I struggle to read love stories where the main characters mislead or lie to each other and they spent more than half the book doing that. I could see it heading to a third act breakup that made me wanna throw the book so I stopped.

If you don't mind this, I recommend this cuz the story is sweet otherwise.

I was sooooo bored . I'm not gonna lie ,even the fights were boring . just drug on forever .
Had promise but for some reason writer didn't want yo wrap it up . He gonna be wolf alpha she's his mate but a dark secret of his farther past ... And to clarify ,yes ,his pack and rep was more important than her . Just all wrapped in a tight boring bow for ya. She's a nobody but not a nobody .Expected sparks to fly except it didn't .Told and dragged out .If I say to much the whole book could be summed up in 1 paragraph and you wouldn't need to read it . Gonna leave it there but honestly book could have ended like 150 pgs and would be fine .Sorry book 2 😜 not really .

Virgin with a heart of gold when shouldn’t

As always in these books, the FMC is a virgin and the MMC is not. The FMC forgives everything and everyone easily. Three days to get over something horrific is not enough. I could not forgive that fast, if at all. The MC tried to cover it up, which makes him an accomplice after the fact. I did not like this book.

Needs better editing.

Let me start with I've never actually writen a review before but this book drove me insane. It is unnecessarily long for absolutely no reason. And the story could have been nicely wrapped up and done in one book, but at the last second let's bring back the dead so we can grind out two more books. Yeah that sounds like a great idea, because the first 630 pages wasn't enough to tell this basic story.

I really wanted to love this and it started off so strong
But I got bored as it slowed down and was just the same situation over and over
Plus I hate the uncommunicative male trope
I made it to chapter 48 then I was just sick of it and skipped to the last 2 chapters… at which time I realized not much changed in the story others what they two leads wanted.
What is written between is just a waste of time. I suspect the other two books and this one could have been edited and just been one really good book. Not three painfully slow DNF risks

Too long

This should have been two books two halves would have stood by themselves just fine. Ends with a cliff hanger so don’t start unless you want to commit to the series since book 2 ends with a cliff hanger as well.

this book was truly atrocious. slow, boring, predictable. The editing was awful- so many grammatical errors and spelling errors. pg 329 “knew” when it should have been “new” is what broke the straw of the camels back, so to speak. I couldn’t forgive this author anymore.

also let’s take a quick second to talk about how he’s 40 years old and his mommy and daddy still rule his life??? how she’s 30 years old and a virgin- when she supposedly this perfect, irresistible, attractive woman who has a magically high sex drive? yeah, okay. They need to act their age.

Too much filler, too many side characters taking up too much time. Too much work talk. I also felt, i only read 30%, that there was very little pack/wolf things in general it was all very human for the most part. Not enough fantasy i think.

i couldn’t make it past 30% of this stupidly long book, so honestly if you like long, predictable, boring books with immature characters then this would be the book for you. For me It’s a DNF

I can't get past a 40 year older man acting how Ty's character is written. Maybe if they had made the couple in their later 20s .

Lunar Mate ceremony, the perfect place to find your true mate for life.
At least that was what everyone in the wolf community said. But Liza didn't believe that this urban legend happened to everyone, if she were to judge from her own experience.
Liza had in mind to grow her catering company, and so far everything seemed to be going very well, to the point where she managed to be introduced to the wife of one of the most important alphas, and she wanted Liza to take care of the food at the next Lunar Mate that she would offer to important guests. Mainly because her own son, the future alpha, would be one of those who could find his mate.

Ty was a great businessman, but he tried to be a good son, despite his mother's decisions sometimes making him a little crazy.
He was already 40 years old, and he still hadn't found his mate, to the dismay of his parents.
Once again he would do his mother's bidding, and dress up with a tuxedo, haircut and everything to look well presented, but without any hope that he would find the female wolf of his dreams.
The big surprise for each side is that the legend is real. And it happens with Ty, the future alpha, and Liza, at dinner... to the dismay of his parents, who wanted him to join a female wolf from a family as influential as theirs.
However, Ty's parents' non-acceptance of Ty's wolf candidate has an old and much more profane secret.

While the couple, who look like a cat and mouse fighting all the time, try in vain to overcome their wolves' choice to be together, little by little the secret is discovered, which could lead to death for those involved and those close to them.
----------------
First I fell in love with the cover; Afterwards, I liked the synopsis, and as I'm a fan of books with a lycan/wolf theme, I definitely wanted to read it.
The plot is very interesting - although not new.
And everything was going well throughout the reading until Liza and Ty's inner wolves recognize each other, and the couple sees that it would be difficult for them to deny such attraction (especially because Ty is a very handsome and rich male; while Liza, also very beautiful, brings a difference in relation to other brunette females: she was blonde).
What starts to make the book a bit boring is how his parents manage the whole mystery of why they don't want Ty to marry Liza.
I accept that at first they wanted to hide such a secret from their son - after all, it was a certain shame for them - but Ty was already 40 years old! He was a successful businessman and took care of the family business. Why treat him as if he were an inexperienced 18 year old?
On the other hand, Ty seems a bit clumsy to get close to Liza (for such a handsome and seductive man, used to having women fall at his feet - his paws)
And then (it was probably my mistake for not realizing it sooner), the book ends with a cliffhanger.
With the first mystery partially resolved, the second book seems to bring more dangers to the couple related to the mystery in Liza's past.

"The Wolf Prince" by Roxie Ray turned out to be a more extended read than I had anticipated, mainly because it combines books 1 and 2 into a single volume. Despite my high hopes for the main characters, Liza and Tyson, the story did not live up to my expectations.

Liza starts as a character with strong potential for a robust female lead. However, as the narrative progresses, her actions raise questions about her strength and decision-making. Similarly, Tyson initially appeared to be a promising character, but his appeal diminished as the story wore on.

The relationship dynamics between Liza and Tyson are baffling. Even after all the trials and tribulations with her original pack, Liza remains willing to be with Tyson, who has lied, told half-truths, and tried to bury his pack's secrets. Tyson's deception, along with his father's trusted people's willingness to lie until the end, makes his character less likable.

The character of Castro also presents a confusing element. He turns out to be a potential lover, adding to the story's complexity.

The plot follows Liza, a caterer, who meets the alpha’s son, Tyson, through a series of events centered around a mating ceremony. Despite their immediate connection, Tyson's parents disapprove, pushing for their rejection. Tyson, however, is determined to pursue Liza, enlisting the help of his friend Bryce to woo her.

Throughout the story, Liza's interactions with Tyson and other characters are marked by misunderstandings and deceptions. Tyson's efforts to court Liza are interrupted by his pack's internal struggles and external threats from characters like Stone, who was promised to Liza and knows about her omega status.

The story takes several twists, including revelations about Liza's true heritage and the involvement of her parents in pack politics. Tyson's struggle with his father's expectations and his own feelings for Liza create ongoing tension.

The pacing of the book feels drawn out, especially with numerous subplots and back-and-forth conflicts. The climax involving the threat from Castro and the pack's political maneuvers adds to the overall drama but can feel overwhelming.

In the end, despite some intriguing moments and potential for character development, "The Wolf Prince" falls short of delivering a compelling and coherent narrative. The characters' questionable actions and the convoluted plot make it a challenging read without a strong payoff. If you enjoy complex werewolf tales with layers of pack dynamics and romance, you might find some elements appealing, but overall, it may leave you wanting more.

- I get it, yeah? But gosh the MMC is SO selfish! Again, I get it. But it had to be said. The MMC and MFC are aged 40 and 30 respectively. So a more mature romance?

Okay, so far... They’ve just met and *fireworks* they are fated mates. But his family doesn’t approve and he later finds out that his family (dad, the alpha) was responsible for wiping out her old pack when she was a kid and basically kidnapped her and brought her to their pack because she’s a treasured, valuable omega. There’s a new guy in town who knows the past and is threatening to spill the beans. MMC is keeping it all a secret from MFC and telling lies and missing dates.

- So she’s suspicious now and flat out asks him what he’s hiding from her. And he lies. Not only does he lie, he spins an outrageous tale and pulls other people into his web of lies. Sigh. This is very moment when I decide that he doesn’t deserve her. He’s not only selfish but a pathological liar. Again, it had to be said. I seriously wonder how they’re going to come back from this.

I'm counting this as "read" for goodreads , but for almost the first time in my life I DNF the book. I read 620 pages and then noticed there was a "part two" that kindle unlimited counts as page 631. There's 32 chapters in part 2!! I didn't even want to finish it after numerous of typos (seriously "knew" instead of "new" and random commas everywhere drove me insane) but I was like eh it's a decent story just terrible writing so I'll finish this at least. Until I realized it was another what 600 pages! No, I'm not interested in it enough to put that much effort into finishing.

The MMC is a douchebag and not the type where you're like oh he's hurt and is going to warm up and then he's amazing and loyal Yadayada that you see in alot of fantasy books. This guy acts perfect and all I see is pure manipulation. "I can't tell her the truth because she'll leave me I want her to be in love with me before I crush her heart" absolutely horrible and I don't want to see a manipulative jerk disguised as the perfect man in a "ROMANCE" novel. No thanks. There were so many opportunities to tell the truth and this guy made 10,000 different scenarious instead of telling the truth.

The FMC is pretty decent. Strong, independent, but she also annoyed the hell out of me because how tf you're 30 years old but your "ability" is hypersexuality and you're main purpose (to your type of wolf) is to breed. And you're off parrying with your flirting friend and never had anything? Yeah, I don't buy it. At least her omitting her truth made more sense than the dude and she tried to give him honesty.

OH BTW how absolutely screwed up is it that she's describing her "nightmare" and you're thinking "nah, that's a memory" and you immediately say just don't think about it it's just a nightmare? Like seriously this dude doesn't deserve her and I can't stand him at all.

Terrible writing, terrible MMC, waste of my time. DNF at what I thought was like 99% but I guess it was 51%. I never write bad reviews but this book pissed me off.

Book 1

Liza is a chef for a catering company. She loves food and her simple life. She seems to be middle class but not in the hierarchy of shifters, and she tries to avoid the mating ceremonies at all costs until she gets roped into working the next big one.

We also get Ty's perspective. He has some mating woes, as he hasn't found his and is feeling pressure from his wealthy Alpha parents. Okay, I'm totally loving this storyline already. I can't wait to see what happens.

All the ways Ty and Liza are opposite are highlighted, and there are some skeletons in Liza's closet with some unknown info. I love that they are opposites in so many ways. Liza's past and peculiarities are brought up, and they will have a big part in this storyline. However, the book is dragging. Like this slow burn, but this is more like embers.

So, Liza is exceptional and has hidden secrets in her past that she doesn't yet know but will eventually. This story is more about the fact that she is different than the fated mates, but that is included in a little bit of the storyline and all the sizzling scenes.  Her supernatural powers have a Rapunzel-like fairytale ability.

This book gets dramatic as Liza's past history and her damaged MC stuff hit a dramatic crescendo, but it is very much drama, romance, forgiveness, and more drama. And even though there is a second half of this book in book 2 included, I'm really not interested in reading any further.

Very disappointed

I read and liked The Alphas Fated Encounter. So I rushed the kindle store and purchased 3 Roxie Ray book series, ( Big Mistake, Big) I started The wolf Prince, and discovered there was a wolf prince 2 it was really hard to find, but I got it. As the story went on, some sections were extremely boring, but some books are, so I kept going. It never got any better. And after reading more of the book I found the wolf prince 2 was in this first book, it wasn't mentioned in the description and the page numbers, after page 631 the page stays the same for 500+. That makes it impossible to sync correctly with other devices.
But ok, that was my mistake. And after reading on into this series, I found missing pages, missing chapters and with that losing years in the time line with no explanation, and some characters from other series have the same names with no connections to the other books is confusing after getting to know the characters in Roxie Rays other books. Looking more into it, others have found the same problems, with this and other series by Roxie Ray. And writing to the Authors and publisher with no response on Facebook, Instagram and directly, for the past year and a half. I find this in very poor taste. Maybe it was my mistake, not doing more research on the authors, but I have never had this happen before in the 55+ years for reading. But lesson learned.

I read this via Audible. The narration was good enough for me. The story was interesting and engaging. I have a few plot gripes: 1. redundancy 2. plot inconsistencies 3. poor pacing 4. major cliffhanger.

*****MILD SPOILERS*****

1. The 1st third of the book has the MCs repeating "oh he's/she's my fated mate" several times in each scene. It gets old really fast and I was super glad when it ceased.
2. The are several inconsistencies. Some are really annoying: like when Liza learns she's royal and has more wealth than the Kellers but she promptly forgets it and bemoans not being royal. Or when Ty says he can't cook/ is terrible at it early in the book, but later on whips up a gourmet meal like it's nbd while stating that he likes to do it to relax.
3. The book is too long. Like 30% of the book is Liza & Ty saying they need to communicate better then keeping things to themselves (although Liza is better at coming clean). These instances are repetitive and do not further character or plot development. There are other things that happen that also could've been cut for the same reason yo improve the pacing. It dragged really hard in the middle because of the fluff.
4. It is not a standalone book. This really did not impact my review I just like to include this for people who read comments.

Despite my gripes, the book is enjoyable and spicy without falling into erotica so I generally liked it and will look for the rest of the series when it's published.

This book is okay but not something I'll be recommending.

I enjoyed the plot of this book. The spicy scenes were above par.

Unfortunately, I agree that the main characters are supposed to be 30 and 40 years old but seem much younger. The plot feels like it fits younger main characters as well. It's just not believable.
On top of that, I didn't like that the female protagonist is very anti relationship but then the second she meets a certain someone she doesn't even get asked if she would like to be together forever. They just start dating and by the second or third date he is talking about being mated like it is a given and she just bats her eyelashes. I would have thought her character would say that she doesn't want to be mated and have at least a conversation or two before she let's her guard down.
During the climax of the book, I felt that it was too convenient that she didn't have to choose between her fated mate who is lying and connected to murders or a stranger that has ties to her history. Instead, the stranger becomes a very, very bad guy all from a sudden memory that is different than the memories she has been having for years. It just felt like a sudden and convenient change. Leaving the story line alone how it had been developing would have made for an intriguing dilemma.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3 stars. The smut was good. The storyline, especially in the second part of the book was okay and nothing earth shattering. Come here for the smut and don't expect too much storywise.

After all the fae and vampires romances I decided to switch gear for some wolf shifter romance. Within the royalty and commoner trope we hax a strongwill independent career woman in Liza. The "courtship" between Liza and Ty was filled with cute moments as Ty worked to woo her. Not to mention the smut scenes. They were definitely the saving grace of this book especially when the story dragged on.

The first part of the book was great as we slowly unraveled the mystery of Liza's past. The second part tried to string us along with the villain's nefarious schemes, but it felt like filler just dragging us along. I wanted to DNF many times during the latter part of the book, but I owed it to Liza and Ty to see how their story ended. Well, despite the HFN ending, we left on a cliffhanger. While part of me want to know the identity of the person at the end of the book, I find myself not really caring for what happens next after the HFN ending.

I downloaded book one but going by book 2 description I read them both, so there may be a spoiler in this review.

This book is different to most of the normal shifter books I read, where they meet and that it instant lust/love - nothing wrong with that I love it! In this book they take their time getting to know each other before sealing the deal.

Ty is next in line to be Alpha when his dragged to a full moon mating get together, think a fancy singles night with really good food!

Liza is busy prepping food for this big occasion, she has to muck in with serving too that's when the connection happens, but that's just the beginning.

This isn't a short book, I like a long book so this didn't daunt me.  I enjoyed the relationship building that Ty did, I have to admit he seemed to work hardest at Wooing Liza.   Liza she's very independent and also little different and she's a businesswoman.

There are twists and turns in this book, romance and passion and two well balanced likeable main characters.

There is a happy conclusion at the end but the story isn't over, I look forward to reading the next installment.

Will the shifter bachelor of the decade finally find his fated mate? Will the gorgeous virgin caterer succumb to the charms of the man she is inexplicably drawn to? OF COURSE! I don't need to read any more of this book to know that.

This Kindle book stopped counting pages after 600+ or something like that, and I finally figured it out. I think the first 2 books in the series ran together in the Kindle app for some reason. And I got incredibly bored. It was more of the same from earlier in the book, and so even though I didn't know I was already in book 2, I lost interest and basically just skimmed the 2nd book just to get to the end. And then I discovered, that there were 2 more books in the series. NO THANKS!

First of all, the trend in these wolf shifter books is to have this darling sweet little thing that somehow is THE FATED MATE for this big brute of a man. OK, I can see there being something attractive about that, but it's as predictable as the days of the week. He is possessive, and she is clingy and often helpless. He is over-protective and lies to keep her safe, and she bucks at not being kept in the loop. It's ALL been done before. Nothing new here.

- Fated mates
- Opposites attract
- Shifter romance

I very much enjoyed this story, even though I wanted to shake Ty multiple times for his behavior...

Chef and caterer Liza is fully aware of how different she is from the other wolves in their pack. She was adopted when she was young, but never really fitted in. So when her friend tries to convince her to go to the annual Lunar Mate ceremony, she declines. But she can't pass up the chance to cater the event.

The alpha's son, Ty, is tired of going to the Lunar Mate events. He hasn't met his mate and he is starting to think he never will. However, when Ty is in the same room as Liza, he feels the mate pull and knows she is the one for him. His parents are very displeased with the match and try to dissuade him from pursuing the bond. The won't go into details, but Ty knows they are keeping something from him... Will he discover the truth about Liza's past?

This story is the beginning of what promises to be an epic series!!.
