Based on original research in records long thought lost, Quaker Nantucket explores the spectacular growth of Quakerism on the Island and its equally astonishing decline amidst the collapse of the whaling industry a century later.
This is a well researched and interesting account of the Quaker history of Nantucket. The chapters on early Nantucket are especially well-written. Some later chapters seemed more of a sketchy overview.
This book is full of information on the religious community of Nantucky. It is well researched and annotated but not as exciting as I expected it to be.
