In the Kashmir Valley, a young police officer named Rajveer finds himself in a battle against the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Jabbar. It is a gripping and insightful story that explores the harsh realities of counter-terrorism operations and the undaunted courage of those who dare to face the dark. Rajveer, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, faces the daunting task of navigating the complex landscape of intelligence gathering, covert operations and constant threats. The authors have carefully woven the intricate threads of the counter-terrorism strategy, the complicated process of the conflict and the emotional journey of the characters. They seamlessly blend factual information with the emotions of their supporters, creating stories that are both informative and inspiring.

The characters in the book are not just names and pages; they are people with different personalities, motivations and weaknesses. Like, Rajveer is an example of resilience and determination, his struggle and sacrifice reflects that of many others who have given their lives in the fight against terrorism. His colleagues, his family, and the various people he meets during his travels add depth and reality to the story, providing an emotional explanation that enriches the story better. The writing style is engaging and accessible, striking a balance between factual reality and emotional appeal. They transport the reader to a frenzy, immersing them in the sights, sounds and tensions of the changing land of Kashmir. The sentences are clear, concise and compelling, allowing the story to flow and capture our attention.

This is not just a story about counter-terrorism; it is a profound examination of the cost of human struggle, the resilience of the human spirit, and the enduring power of hope. An exciting and thought-provoking story that will stay with you long after you turn the last page. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to better understand the complexities of the fight against terrorism and the enduring spirit of the so-called human despite adversity.

I have never understood why certain people choose the path of terrorism. What is the point they want to establish? Is it worth it, considering the major losses their acts incur? When I think about it, I think of Jammu. And how decades and decades have been spent in the chaos and terror that have plagued the place. I have often thought of the men who chose terror and mayhem and the men who had to choose justice to fight it back. And I have also wondered how their families have coped with the events.

I returned to those thoughts once again when I started reading ‘Curse of the Pir’. It has the premise of terrorist operations against the backdrop of Jammu and Kashmir. The book closely focuses on a young Assistant Superintendent of Police, Rajveer, who has to brave the uncharted terrains of terrorism to fight against it. He and his team go quite head-to-head with the terror operation group Lashkar-e-Jabbar. They have time ticking by so fast, with their operations wreaking havoc one by one. Rajveer and his men have to race against time to protect the nation they love.

We also see Rajveer trying to grapple with and balance his professional and personal life, which in real life is quite evident in the lives of police and army men. This book takes a close look at the covert operations and machinations of terrorist groups and the internal workings of the system that tries to tackle them. You get to see the sheer determination, grit, resilience, and bravery that these men show in the face of adversaries. Moreover, this story is inspired by real-life events. Reading this book invokes feelings of respect for the men who keep us safe and lay down their lives to protect the nation they regard as their mother.

The author does a great job at portraying the hardship and trials and tribulations in this line of work.
A gripping, fast-paced thriller that keeps you hooked on its pages—if you find it up your alley, go ahead and read it!

Curse of the Pir by Mukesh Singh and Anupama Pandey
.
The author Mukesh Singh is an Indian Police Service officer of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre. The author has handled the counter terror operations first hand and that is very finely reflected in the book.

This book provides a wealth of information about what really happens when our armed forces and police risk their lives to protect our nation. The story has a convincing sense of realism and goes into great detail on how operations are organised and carried out as well as how intelligence is obtained.

What I loved the most about this book is that it uses storytelling to go deeply into the specifics of how our counterterrorism personnel actually organise and carry out operations, as well as the kinds of obstacles they encounter. Throughout the book, in addition to the amazing details of these attacks and counterattack operations, you also witness the human side of things.

It is a must-read for readers seeking a captivating and immersive literary experience.

'Curse of the Pir' is an astounding, eye-opening account of terrorist operations and how Rajveer, a young assistant superintendent of police flungs into action to neutralize the terror outfit - Lashkar-e-Jabbar. As the attacks intensify, it's upto Rajveer and his men to avert the threat. The stakes are high and his team balances the lives of the entire nation in their able arms.

Set against the war torn valley of Kashmir, the story also portrays how Rajveer struggles to manage his personal and professional life. 'Curse of the Pir' delves deep into the complex web of terrorism operations and the internal politics within the system. The narrative skillfully weaves the main character development with that of the plot making it a well-rounded and deeply immersive story.

Moreover, the book sheds light on the bravery and determination of Indian police forces, making readers bow down to the sacrifices made in the line of duty.

CURSE OF PIR - MUKESH SINGH ANUPAMA PANDEY

4⭐

PLOT - Rajveer a young guy cracks his IAS exams and is posted as a young assistant superintendent of police in J&K and there is no stopping him as he tries to annihilate the terrorists as they try to create havock in Kashmir. Rajveer has to balance his personal and professional life as he does everything in his power to serve his country.

MY THOUGHTS
Inspired by true events Curse of Pir comes very close to an actual replay of what transpires between terrorists trying to infiltrate and the armed forces doing their best to intercept them. Spanning over many years multiple instances are covered in great detail making a reader completely engrossed in the narrative which is precise and crisp. What actually was the highlight for me was the role of an informer. How a tip or info is interpreted measures taken and it goes a long way to crack the whip.
One needs to get past the initial few pages and then it would be difficult to stop
