Beautiful, carefree Randi Bell is oblivious to the danger that surrounds her. She makes excuses for her violently jealous would-be boyfriend. She turns a blind eye when her freewheeling sister’s friends dabble in dangerous drugs. Easy-going Randi sees only the best in everyone.
Homicide Detective Nick Paley is hot on the trail of a murderous drug enforcer called the Zombie. Nick is outside his jurisdiction, falling hard for Randi, and his cop’s intuition tells him something very bad is about to go down on the sunny island of Saint Boniface. Can he stop it in time?
Elizabeth Buhmann is originally from Virginia, where her first novel is set, and like her main character, she lived several years abroad while growing up. She graduated magna cum laude from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh. For twenty years, she worked for the Texas Attorney General as a researcher and writer on criminal justice and crime victim issues.
Elizabeth now lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, dog, and two chickens. She is an avid gardener, loves murder mysteries, and has a black sash in Tai Chi.
Just read Elizabeth Buhmann’s new murder mystery, FREE WHEELING. It’s the best page turner I’ve read since her debut LAY DEATH AT HER DOOR. I love the main character, the detective, Nick. He’s relatable and multi-dimensional. I don’t want to give spoilers, but I felt his angst and his suspicions and his shock right along with him as he solved the mystery. I won’t say anything about Randi, his love interest, because I don’t want to ruin your surprise.
