Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound.
She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.

Uhhg probably the most horrible novella I've ever read.
I could do with an easy and fast palate cleanser, with one of my favorite tropes too (mafia stone-cold killer hero, sweetheart oblivious heroine) but this was terrible down to the writing style. The MCs sounded like emotionless robots and everything was boring.
PLUS he basically threatened her as long as she took care of his "needs", he wouldn't need to find a mistress... what a man.
Sigh 💁🏻On to the next

Going to the chapel

Now and then I find a book where the love story has already been written, or so I thought, but as the pages turn the battle to hold onto that love unfolds. This is one of those books. The author may have started with a wedding, but it was also the revelation of a lie that shaped the way the book played out. I love that these two got their second chance. It was certainly rocky, and there were growing pains, but it led to a HEA that took my breath away. I can’t wait to see what stories the author thinks up next!

I really liked this one! I loved the sweetness and pragmatism of the heroine—no silly unnecessary fighting her fate.

I also love how the cold, ruthless hero is sent to “take care of” the heroine and he can’t pull the trigger, but has no idea why. He just keeps her for himself. I wish there more books with this plot line! I also love how much of an asshole he was at first, but eventually melts into goo for her. Nothing more annoying than these romances where the hero is described as ruthless and unemotional, but then is uncharacteristically a slobbering lap dog for the heroine. Hero doesn’t believe he loves heroine because he doesn’t know what love is.

Safe. Hero’s past isn’t mentioned. heroine gives virginity to her and belongs only to him, but their first time isn’t shown. No others, sharing or cheating or abuse. HEA with epilogue

Roman Sidorov didn’t tell Chloe who he truly was. On her wedding day, she finds out that he is not Roman Smith but a member of the Zaitsev Bratva. They caused the death of her family. How can she trust him. And the man she thought she knew said he loved her but now, was that all a lie? You aren’t too sure what to expect from Roman. Yes, he lied to her and didn’t say who he truly was. But he also was tasked to killer her. Instead, he took her as his bride. I love that he was always protective of her. He kept her close. He was learning that loving her was not a weakness as well. But he just needed to get her to believe that. And Chloe, she had already given him her heart. Now she had to start all over again. But boy was he tempting. I love his dirty talk. Who doesn’t love a man that can talk dirty. And there was more to what happened to her family. Roman definitely grabbed my heart. I loved it.

It had the potential to be so good!
But the heroine had a serious case of BBS. She had a whole "plan" to escape him and was only hooking up with him to "have fun along the way" but that quickly changed to "I love him after all", "It's totally okay to be with him because he is sometimes the guy I fell in love with, even though he doesn't love me and had a hand in my family's death".
The hero didn't really act remorseful to her - we only see how he starts to collect her family's belongings she was forced to sell to support herself - and this is also revealed to her by someone else.
Only in the end does it also mention he killed everyone who didn't listen to his command, causing the shoot out that led to her family dying.
There was nothing about lying to her for over a year, tricking her into marrying him, or pretending to be someone else the whole time.

I needed some grovel.

There was also very little plot outside of this - and even less characters. It fell flat for me.

Married under a cloud of deception, rather than kill Chloe, her husband of three hours had been ordered to marry her. It had taken forty year old Brigadier Roman Sidorov, ten months to get her into his bed, and much to his surprise, she’d been a virgin, even though he suspected as such. Marrying her was the only solution.

When they had met a year ago, she had known him as Roman Smith, a small businessman who owned a couple of restaurants, instead he was a member of the terrifying Zaitsev Bratva. They were the reason she had no family. Her parents as well as her brother had been driving home from the cinema, and gotten caught in the crossfire. They’d been killed by stray bullets. Chloe had lost everyone that night.

After the pain of losing her family, she didn’t think it was possible to enjoy life again, but Roman changed that. Her parents had not left a will, so she’d been unable to keep her home. She had no choice but to move out, selling what possessions she could in order to find a place to stay. She worked as a bartender, the bar was owned by the Zaitsev Bratva.

Chloe thought about the cop she’d been going to see. Paid off by the Bratva to look the other way. He sold her out.

Late one night, Roman had come into the bar, Chloe had been the one to serve him. The first night, he didn’t say anything, nor the second. For a whole week, he came, ordered a drink, rarely drank it, and then left. It was during the second week that he began to talk to her. He’d bring up his day, mention work, and he seemed like a nice guy. She found herself looking forward to his visits. Assuming he had no idea she planned to take down the Bratva, until today.
Their wedding day.
The first shock had come when she entered the church and saw all the guests. She didn’t have any friends, but Roman had packed the church, carefully selecting his guests. By the time she made it to the end of the aisle, she had spotted three people from the Zaitsev Bratva, and in that moment she had known. The next giant shock was, she thought she was marrying Roman Smith, but had become Chloe Sidorov.

Sweet story…unbeknownst to her, he’d been slowly replacing all of her belongings that she’d been forced to pawn, all the memories of her parents.

“It would have been a lot easier to kill her.”

This one is a romantic one, despite the face that the lead male, Roman, is a Bratva brigadier with a reputation of taking care of the boss’s problems. I’m sorry but even though we saw him cut a guy to pieces I just couldn’t help but love him. As a matter of fact, I dare anyone not to. As for Chloe, she’s just an absolute sweetheart. I’m talking heart of gold here. She loved Roman so much she forgave him for all of his deceptions and brought peace and happiness into his lonely life. What I loved best was how she constantly made him laugh. I’m betting he rarely even smiled before she came into his life. She loved him for who he was inside and not for his money, position or power. She nursed him when he was sick, and what a baby he was about it! She even took him to the fair and made him ride every ride with her! Chloe made Roman’s life real. It was really wonderful to see.

Only a few issues. First the writing itself is dreadful, so choppy and repetitive, too much telling and not enough showing, although the bedroom scenes were hot and very well written. I’ve said for years there are more than one writers who write under Sam Crescent, some are better actual writers than the others. This one is the not great one. I still can’t figure out how many of them they are, at least three I’m pretty sure but maybe more… Anyway, just do your best to overlook the mediocre writing.

My other complaint, and this is the bigger one, is I really feel we missed out a lot by having the story start with their wedding. We never got to see their meeting and courtship, how he helped heel her heartbreak over her family, how they were together when he was Roman Smith and his thoughts during that pivotal time. I also feel it lessened the impact of her finding out who he really was. I wanted to see all of that.

Despite my issues I still give the book four stars. The story is so charming, steamy-sweet, and has almost no real drama. Chloe and Roman are truly wonderful and way too likable to really rate it lower. This book is great for someone who wants a shorter romantic story with a cute couple that just make you smile.

After the death of her family, Chloe is out for revenge against the Bratva she blames for their demise. So she starts working in one of their bars gathering evidence and inadvertently falling for the man who was sent to shut her up, permanently.

Roman's character is complex. His actions and words don't always align, with him really investing in their relationship to the point Chloe marries him, to then almost switching to a completely different persona once she finds out the truth about who he is. He manages to be both cold and caring at the same time and as a reader, gave me emotional whiplash because he didn't seem to understand his own feelings and it took Chloe being at risk for him to finally understand.

Chloe's character shows some signs of strength - trying to get revenge, speaking back to other wives, and plotting her escape. However, at times she comes across as weak, and it's understandable really. She doesn't have family or friends and the one person she did have has lied to her.

The two together are chaotic and combative, their communication skills are non-existent but the fire, passion, and sexual chemistry are off the charts and so when they argue, which is a lot, they usually end up naked too.

Between the two different POVs, we get to see both characters' struggles. Roman argues with himself that he can't love yet his actions don't always reflect his words and Chloe constantly battles with herself that she is unloved but yet convinces herself there are glimmers of hope in Roman's actions, but they both have a vicious tongue. It's tough love, rough love, and what you would expect from the Bratva.

The irony is, that it takes an outside source, the one who was responsible for breaking Chloe in the first place, to finally show them both the truth and essentially put her back together again.

Thoroughly enjoyed this read.
Chloe had lost her mum, her dad, and brother all on the same day they were caught in the crossfire between the Zaitsev Bratva and some drug dealers. Chloe has decided to go after the Bratva so she managed to gather enough information to take to the police, but what she didn’t know was, she had just gone to a policeman that was an informant for the Bratva.
Chloe was working in a bar and this is where she met Roman Smith. He was a small time businessman and he was really working hard to get her attention and after a few months she agreed they went on a date. It goes really well knows and after some many months he asked her to marry him she said yes but on her wedding day, she found out that she had been lied to, because Roman was actually a member of the Bratva and his surname was Sidorov.
Chloe wanted to get a divorce, but Roman was not going to let her.
Roman had a hard upbringing basically training for the Bratva since he was young as his dad was already a member. So when Chloe talked of Love, he didn’t understand what that meant. Could Chloe make Roman love her??
This book is hot, I could not put it down. I was absolutely gutted when it ended. I really liked Chloe she’s an amazing woman who is so strong. And Roman I like him even if he was confusing as many of his actions say something very loud, but he doesn’t see it. The passion that these two share is woooohoooo off the charts. Oh my gosh and the connection they have is so strong. This is a brilliant read that I can’t wait for more.

He had been sent to kill her!

He’s lied to her about who he was, she’d fell in love with a lie, now married she wanted out but he wouldn’t let her!

Roman had been sent to kill her but the moment he saw her for some reason he changed his mind. He became obsessed with her, he didn’t love her, he didn’t know how to love but he would never let her go!

Another hot, steamy read from this wonderful author, wonderful characters who’s personalities shine through and a guaranteed HEA.

Like It Rough by Sam Crescent

Sam Crescent has done it again, Chloe Baker is an absolute sweetheart! She fell in love with Roman Smith and now finds herself married to Roman Sidorov who is part of the Zaitsev Bratva, an organisation she vowed to take down after the death of her family. Roman is a wonderful book boyfriend and definitely on my list! The chemistry between these two leading characters is undeniable and absolutely scorching hot in the very best of ways! The way the characters grew together, the forgiveness for the lies, the bond that blossomed was beautiful between Roman and Chloe.
The way they heat up the pages is beautiful with moments of tenderness to melt the coldest of hearts, an unexpected twist and humour that you cannot help but smile about. The moment Roman realised what love was is written to perfection and I loved every word. I didn't want this story to end as always, this journey to this couple's happily ever after was one I did not want to finish but will definitely be reading again! Happy Reading!

Please note that I was given an arc of this book for my honest review which is exactly what I have given.

Another hot Bratva read by Sam Crescent. Innocent Chloe's family was killed by the Zaitsev Bratva, she find herself working in a bar Owned by them and presented with an opportunity, she decides to try to take them down by informing to the Police and Roman is tasked with dealing with the Chloe. However, rather than kill Chloe, like he is expecred to, Roman seduces, then marries her. She finds out on her wedding day that the man she married isn't a regular business man, but a member of the Bratva that killed her family.

It was interesting how the starting point of this book was from the wedding, so the 1 year of "courtship" takes place before the book begins, however, because Chloe didn't know who Roman truly is, they still navigate their feelings for each other while getting to know each other further. Chloe is torn due to the connection to the death of her family and the lies Roman has told, while Roman doesn't believe he can love a woman.

I was on such a high note with Sam Crescent's books lately.
I guess it only makes sense that it was time to come back down to Earth.

This one was not my cup of tea.
Roman, for all the emotions he feels for Chloe (BUT IT'S NOT LOVE BECUASE HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT LOVE IS) he is just so clueless on how he can make Chloe see he is still the guy that wooed her and married.
Now Chloe, okay, like many of Sam Crescent's heroines that I don't like, she was so naive and willing to give in, even when Roman is telling her everything that makes her hate him more. I kept waiting for her to just throw back in Roman's face the fact that instead making her fall in love he should've just unalived her. I mean why not? She throws everything else back in his face?

I'm going to go lick my wounds after reading this one and hope the next Sam Crescent book I read is better than this.

Like it Rough is a steamy, OTT, age-gap, opposites-attract, Bratva, curvy girl gets her man romance. Roman is a ruthless, hunky 40 year old member of the Bratva. Chloe is a 25 year old curvy girl whose family was killed by the Bratva. When she meets Roman at the bar where she works, she doesn't know he is a member of the Bratva, not until her wedding day. She is devastated but still in love with him when she finds out. Can they make this marriage work? Roman was ruthless but a big old sexy teddy bear when it came to Chloe. He had a traumatic childhood and didn't know if he could love. Can he prove to Chloe he does? The chemistry between these two was enough to burn down a town...holy hotness 🔥. I just loved them together. There is violence and drama, but we get an amazing HEA in the end. This was a great steamy mafia read.

Chloe discovers on her wedding day, that the man she fell in love with is the same man that is part of the Zaitsev Bratva. They are responsible for the death of her parents and her brother. She wants to hate him but there is something about him, he sets her blood on fire.

Roman was send by the head of the Bratva to tie up loose ends, take out Chloe. He could not bring himself to do so, the more time he spent around her the more repulsive it was. The only option was to marry her to keep her quiet. The longer they are married the more Roman comes to care for her. But will he choose over the Bratva if is becomes necessary?.

I thought Like It Rough was such an amazing book. I love Sam Crescent’s writing style. The world she created is gritty, written in vivid detail, and draws me in every time. The storyline is original and filled with drama, action, suspense, angst and steamy hot spice. The characters are complex and has amazing chemistry. This is a dark mafia romance and has some dark themes.

Chloe was a total baddy!!! I loved her stubbornness and determination. She was not a doormat and had a steel backbone. Roman was dark and broody. I loved his loyalty and possessiveness. Their chemistry and push and pull were addicting and wanted more of this couple.

I love Sam's books. They are so realistic with especially when she writes about the Bratva. Theses men are over the top, possessive and truth to what you see is exactly what you get.

Chloe needed to come to terms with the death of her parents and brother...not really at the hands of Roman. Roman initially was to do a good job but he just couldn't. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't end Chloe..so he wooed her. Roman was emotionally dead in his eye but Chloe made him feel and he would do anything to give her her smile back.

I love that Sam uses violence as a backdrop to the truth of what is truly going on...Two people fighting for survival while learning to see life differently.

Chloe (h25) is stunned to discover on her wedding day that Roman (H40), the man she’s fallen for and marrying, is not who she thought he was, and is in fact a part of the bratva family she holds responsible for her family’s deaths. Given his upbringing, Roman struggles to understand what love is, but has chosen to make Chloe his wife rather than kill her as he was supposed to. Chloe struggles against the new world she’s been thrust into and to understand how to move forward with Roman. He’s protective and supportive, trying to help her adjust. Loved how he was going back to try to recapture pieces of her old life for her. Hot and steamy dark bratva romance with a side of danger.

I feel like the title isn't right for this story as their relationship didn't seem rough at all. Roman marries Chloe under pretenses. She didn't know he was part of the Bratva that was responsible for her parent's death.

After meeting Chloe, Roman decides that marrying her is preferable to killing her so Chloe has to overcome his lies. They settle into marriage and Roman realizes that his feelings for her are deeper than just desire. He will do what is needed to protect her. Chloe is unable to fall out of love with Roman and just wants him to love her back. Loyalties will be tested but Roman and Chloe are meant to be.

Chloe thought she was marrying one Roman but the Roman she married was actually sent to kill her. Her family was responsible for deaths in his family but when he sees her, he instantly wants her. To be honest, it took me most of the book to even warm up to Roman. I didn't like the way he lied to her about who he was and how he said if she kept him "satisfied" , he wouldn't have to find another woman. It still ended up being a good story but definitely not one of my favorites from Ms. Crescent! I'm sure others will totally love it though!

Chloe found out too late that Roman the man she married, and love was not whom he claimed to be but in fact a part of the Zaitsev Bratva the people responsible for killing her family. Roman married her to keep her safe and from the Bratva killing her because of her wanting to part information to the police. When it all works out, she finds another side to Roman one that questions what she knows about him. Will they be able to settle into their relationship and will it lead them to a happily ever after.

I loved Like It Rough. Chloe’s while marriage is a lie. She didn’t find out until the wedding that her husband is in the mafia and responsible for the death of her family. The problem, she actually loves her husband. He won’t let her go so it’s find a way to deal with it or suffer. This was a great storyline and I loved the characters. Roman said he didn’t know what love was but I think he was wrong. He can’t let Chloe go. I would definitely recommend this book.

Enemies to Lovers Romance

Chloe is in love with her husband and is shocked to find out that he’s not who he said he was. He’s a member of the infamous Zaitsev Bratva that is responsible for the death of her family and she has unknowingly fallen in love with the enemy. Hurt with this betrayal, Chloe is conflicted because she still loves Ramon.

A good enemies to lovers forbidden romance with some good angst. You really want these two to find their happy ending and the story pulls you right in!

Secrets and lies

Like It Rough is as fast moving, fairly romantic for Sam Crescent, but still with a dark, dangerous and suspenseful story-line. Chloe is a woman who has had more than a few tragedies in her life and things may or may not change when she meets Roman. At first it seems that she may get her happily ever after but that is before the truth comes out. Roman has an agenda that may or may not see them getting a future together but the one thing he knows is that he will do anything he needs to inorder to keep Chloe safe and alive.

After losing her family and her home, Chloe was set on getting revenge on the Zaitsev Bratva and Roman was tasked to stop her. Instead of killing her, he ended up marrying her and on their wedding day, Chloe found out his true motives, breaking her heart. Throughout, Chloe is determined to fall out of love while Roman is determined to keep her. It was a pretty adorable well written novella.

Chloe hated the Zaitsev Bratva for the part they played in the death of her parents. What she didn’t expect was the love of her life Roman Smith to be part of that Bratva and being sent to keep her quiet.
Good book with lots of steamy scenes. The kidnapping chapter with Zaitsev was confusing, didn’t add any real value to the story.

This story blew me away. The storyline was great. Chloe had lost her family who was murdered by the Zaitsev family, now she just got married to the man she lives and found out the man she married is really Roman Sidorov, a member of the Zairsev family. Roman will do anything to keep her.

These two were so great together. She was the lightness that he needed.
