Badass by birth. Drifter by choice. Vigilante because justice requires it.
When a wind farm worker is gunned down on the job, the Nolan County Sheriff labels it an accident. “Wrong place, wrong time,” according to the locals. But to Nate Vigil, it looks like murder. And he says so.
Bluntly.
Not that it’s any of his business. He’s just passing through...
At least until three thugs with Brooklyn accents try to run him out of town. Now they've made it his business. Big mistake.
Vigil figures they’re covering something up. But what?
The beautiful and deadly Mira Getty—who claims to be a private investigator for an insurance company—wants the answer even worse than he does. But why is she so intent on enlisting Vigil’s help? And who is she really? Because she’s too good with a gun to be working for GEICO. That’s for damn sure.
There are secrets buried beneath the wind generators in Carlin, Texas. Worth billions to an evil man if he can keep them hidden. The only problem? He didn’t count on Vigil showing up.
They never do.
Fans of old-school Jack Reacher, Barry Eisler ’ s John Rain, and Gregg Hurwitz's Orphan X novels have a new hero to root for.“
If you like lone wolf heroes, cunning conspiracies, and artful violence, you'll love Nate Vigil. ”
Vigil has been trained by many professionals in combat, and just about everything to survive. He travels alone pays with cash, doesnt own a phone, or a vehicle. Great read, characters and, lots of action. Looking forward to reading more by Conor Black.
Excellent, simply excellent. In his first book, he manages to hook me into wanting more. I signed up to his reader’s group to get more! This story, the characters come out from an “old school” vigilante genre. And, Black gets them all walking, talking, fighting, laughing, and sexing. Excellent! I can’t say it enough…it was excellent.
A good fast moving thriller that has Vigilante sensing that there is something badly wrong in a small township in the middle of nowhere. After the murder of a line worker passed off as an accidental shooting by the local Marshal and an attempt to run him out of town by thugs he decides to investigate deeper. Assistance comes in the shape of an attractive government agent who actually works under duress for the former gangster under witness protection and the eventual twists and turns lead to an exciting rollercoaster of events.
At first it was hard not to think of Reacher, but as the story evolved he became his own character, which made it more readable for me. His side kick had more twists than a fairground ride.
In the Wind is a very good book. Characters are well introduced and the plot had many interesting features. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to more in the series,
I read a lot of “Jack Reacher” type books and other crime thrillers. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I usually can guess what will happen, but I did not on this one. Read it in three days (I do work full time). I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Throughly enjoyed the book, suspected some of the twists and turns but I wasn't always right. Add it to your list, or better yet, download it now and put what you are reading on hold
I've read alot of thillers over the years and this one is among the best. Had a hard time putting it down, looking forward to reading another of your books.
I very much enjoyed this book! From the very beginning the action grabbed hold and held me interested. Nate Vigil is the ultimate hero.
Conor Black was able to mix the action and the "romance" and then with the twists and turns of the plot it was amazing. There were a lot of pages that I had a hard time with because I thought the story was going too far, but then it redeemed itself with a little "sleight of hand" so to speak.
Well written, complex plotting and generally good character development. As promised, lots of action, bone-crunching and blood. Other than the obvious comparisons to Reacher, there are enough differences to say not a copycat. Enjoyed the read and look forward to the follow-ups.
A variation of Lee Child. Not a bad thing, as this author has his own style and I believe it will continue to entertain with the following books. Looking forward to the next.
One of my favorite genres are action thrillers, and this one is no different. The characters and plot is great, the twist in the plot got me guessing all the way up to the very end! Getting in the head of Vigil was really intriguing, hope that we get more into his backstory in the next books! Enjoyed my time with this book was a very easy and quick read!
Wow, this book kept me on the edge of my seat! I kept thinking no way she was gonna kill him! Then she did. I just kept thinking naw she didn't. This is an excellent story to read.
I like the main character and story, but I would have preferred more detail during the final chapters rather than the summary provided by the characters as a wrap up.
