Ummmmm, this book is HILARIOUS!!!!
I am such a fan of Dana LeCheminant's writing. It's always witty and the banter and flirt game in each contemporary she writes is so strong. If you want to be entertained...The Chad Next Door is for you!
First of all, the names in this (nicknames and given names) are comedic gold! The embarrassing situations are hilarious to read about and I love how the characters roll with it. These two main characters are some of my favorite I've ever read about!
I loved the single parent trope and how it brings out the protective vibes from Chad. Hope is so fun and I think everyone needs a friend like Hope in their life. This is an age-gap romance that I thought was represented SO WELL!
This small town is adorable, and Hank? Please, please, please tell me Hank is getting a story!
HE NEEDS A STORY!
I love how this series is setting up and how they overlap, but can still be read in any order. Also, please bless Houston's story is next because I need his story ASAP too! I enjoyed the little touch of suspense and mystery. I did not see that coming and loved getting a splash of it!!
Read this book for pure entertainment, happy feelings, a fantastic flirt game and lots of kisses.

Книжка не ідеальна, але в принципі трішки мені було цікаво читати історію про Хоуп та Чеда. Цікаво було спостерігати за племінницею та племінником Хоуп, як вони разом спілкувались з Чедом. Професія Чеда детектив, але він поїхав у відпустку, але все ж таки я очікувала трішки більше розкриття його професія, в книжці було щось таке, але буквально на пару сторінок. І потім вони не могли нормально поговорити, тому посварилися ну класика 😀

Chad “Grizz” is a grump on vacation and a literal run-in with his ray of sunshine new neighbor, Hope, in the hardware store made me realize this book was going to be everything I love in a RomCom.

I loved the natural banter and connection between Hope (who is a single “mom” raising her niece and nephew) and Chad (who once raised his siblings). There is heart and soul mingled in with the attraction, giving it a very solid foundation.
I can’t wait to read more of this series!

I was so excited to read another book from Dana LeCheminant. And oh, does this book have everything. A grumpy, older man, a spunky younger woman, darling kids, swoony kisses, and of course a faithful dog. Chad and Hope are absolutely perfect. And I loved the POV changes. The things that Hope says and thinks are my favorite. Chad is protective, almost to a fault, but that’s his job and his role for his siblings. Zelda is observant and speaks her mind. Bless her little honest heart. Sweet Link, I loved how Chad brought him out of his shell. There are many humorous and sweet moments. I adored all the characters and I can’t wait for more Briggs books.

Dana LeCheminant is one of my favorite rom-com authors. When I read a book from her I know I am getting a 5 star read! She brings so much depth and uniqueness to her stories. It's pure magic! I absolutely loved everything about The Chad Next Door! It is funny, heartwarming, and super swoony! I didn’t want to put it down, and when I had to I couldn’t wait to pick it up again!
Chad is a top-notch detective who doesn’t really need or want to do this job anymore. He has grown tired of breaking unhappy news to his clients and desperately needs a bright spot in his life. Looking for solitude he heads to Laketown for a much needed vacation. What he doesn’t expect to find there is his new and attractive neighbor Hope. Hope is looking for a fresh start and a new place to raise her niece and nephew. Only she didn’t realize she moved next door to a grump and a very good looking grump at that.
This was such a fun and entertaining read! Loved it all!!! The chemistry between Chad and Hope just oozed off the pages! It was top-notch! The banter between them was so flirty and fun. They challenged each other in a good way and truly are the perfect match. I love all the funny situations they keep getting thrown into that bring them closer together. I really enjoyed the tender side to the story with Hope's niece and nephew, Zelda and Link. Hope wanted the kids to heal and do what was best for them. Chad was so protective of them once he knew their situation. He had a similar past and could really relate to them and to what Hope was going through. My heart melted when he got down to Zelda's level to talk to her for the first time. I loved the forced proximity the snowstorm brought. The dance party, the charms of their neighbor Hank, the sparks flying between Chad and Hope. The suspenseful twist that happened was a nice added surprise too!
This book would make a fabulous movie. It was so well written that I could vividly picture myself in Laketown as one of Chad and Hope's neighbors. This series has already become one of my favorites and there are still two more books to go! I'm really enjoying how all 4 of the siblings' books are on the same timeline and we get bits of each of their stories in each one. Can’t wait for what comes next!

Hope just got custody of her niece and nephew, Zelda and Link, and moved to Colorado. Her grumpy next-door neighbor, Chad, has to keep coming to her rescue in humorous ways, as well as legit ways. There is a snowstorm coming and although Chad tries to keep his distance from his new neighbors, he doesn't want them to freeze so he invites them to stay with him during the storm. He also invites his neighbor Hank. As they are all snowed in together, the sparks fly, and Hope and Chad get romantically involved. And although Hope is ready to go all in, is Chad ready after he has endured heartbreak in the past?
This was a fun story! There are a lot of funny moments, including pasta sauce, spiders and more. Chad is so grumpy, and Hope annoys him at first, but the attraction is strong between them. I loved Chad and Hope's adorableness as a couple. The thing I loved the most was the family dynamic. I loved Hope, Chad and Zelda and Link as a family. Also, Duke the dog is just adorable! I loved how protective Chad was over the family. If you love grumpy x sunshine, age gap, great family dynamic and instalove you will love this book!

LeCheminant is a RomCom master. I bow down to the one who writes the most hilarious and heartwarming contemporary romance stories. If she is writing it, I am reading it! The Chad Next Door is grumpy versus sunshine with an age gap and I adored the story! Chad aka Grizz is the gruff one who is used to taking care of everyone else, and he has never found someone of his own. Hope is taking care of her niece and nephew who just lost their mom and she is kind of clueless when it comes to taking care of a household. I loved all of the ways they kept running into each other. There are so many laugh out loud moments and just as many tender ones. The bond between Chad and his siblings is one everyone hopes to have in their own life. The added suspense part of the story was a nice twist and honestly I could not put the book down! I directly went out and purchased this in paperback because I have to own my favorites in a hard copy. If you are a RomCom fan then RUN!!! Do not walk to your nearest book retailer and snatch yourself up a copy of this delightful story!

Y’all…!! 😍 Until now, Kit Morgan has remained firmly in first place for favourite leading man in Dana’s stories. But… Chad Briggs may have just edged him out. 🥰🤭 At the very least, they’re tied, haha.
Chad surprised me in the very best of ways. Despite having a name mostly used for jerk boyfriends, Chad Briggs is one fine man. I fell in love with him in Micah’s book because he’s seriously the sweetest, most protective big brother ever. Their relationship was the cutest thing! (Plus, Chad on pain pills was beyond hilarious!)
Hope has been through the wringer & so have her kids (niece & nephew), but I love her determination and optimism. The balance & dynamic she shared with Chad were adorable. And yeah, it’s an age gap romance (12 years), but personally I loved it!
The emotional depths this story plummeted was moving. My eyes watered profusely. Chad had held it together, taking care of everyone for so long, it took Hope to finally see all of him. 🥺
As a side note, there were a few kissing scenes that almost went too far for me personally. Still clean and closed door just a bit steamier than I prefer. 🙂
And HANK! That man NEEDS a story! 😂

The pacing of their relationship was weird. They went from being very snarky to her literally jumping in his arms bc of a spider and then he wouldn't put her down 🤦🏼♀️. From there, it was like they'd been dating for months. I don't know, the pacing just seemed so odd to me.

I love a book that can make me laugh and this book did that over and over again. It also had a lot of heart.
Hope is barely holding it together. She has recently obtained custody of her niece and nephew, after the death of her sister. She’s given up her schooling and career goals and moved to a small town where she could afford to buy a house. The house is… not as expected. It does come with a really good looking next door neighbor. A grumpy neighbor.
Chad is not wanting to get involved with anyone, but can he resist his neighbors? Especially when they clearly don’t have it together and he constantly notices ways he could help?
I loved all the comedic moments. The names (given and nicknames) were clever. I also really loved that it sets us up for future books. I’m already invested in Houston’s book.

It would be hard for me to pick a favorite Dana LeCheminant book but this one has got to be the funniest one!! Oh my heavens!! We met Chad (aka Grizz) at the end of The Wonder Boys series and got a hint about Hope and Chad in She Likes It, Hey Micah but now we get the whole story and you're going to LOVE it!!
Chad bought and renovated a house in Laketown and is there to have some peace and quiet when Hope, with her young niece and nephew in tow, descend upon the long-empty house next door. Chad has no idea what's in store for him! His first two run-ins with Hope are hilarious and each scene with them is better than the last!

CHAD AND HOPE! You guys. I just love them so much. Banter, tension for days, and so much heart and depth with these two. Plus, stinking adorable kids and the sweetest dog to top it all off. I mean, what more can you ask for?!

I laughed, I swooned, my heart melted, and I teared up. This is such a sweet, wonderful story. I related to both Chad and Hope in different ways and love them together so much!
I really just stinking adore the Briggs Sibs and I love how these books are written with overlapping timelines. You don’t have to read them in any specific order, but be aware, you’ll want all their stories no matter which one you start with!
Trigger Warning: Recent loss of a sibling/young kids losing their parent and the trauma and change that goes with that. Past loss of a parent/parent in jail/custody issues with siblings.

I laughed, I swooned, my heart melted, and I teared up. This is such a sweet, wonderful story. I related to both Chad and Hope in different ways and love them together so much!
I really just stinking adore the Briggs Sibs and I love how these books are written with overlapping timelines. You don’t have to read them in any specific order, but be aware, you’ll want all their stories no matter which one you start with!
Trigger Warning: Recent loss of a sibling/young kids losing their parent and the trauma and change that goes with that. Past loss of a parent/parent in jail/custody issues with siblings.

These Love in Sun City books are a hoot! They are my favorite books by Dana LeCheminant so far! And that's saying something because I've enjoyed all the books I've read by her.
But these Briggs sibs and this family are seriously the BEST!!! I love how she wrote all of the books in the series in that they are all happening at the same time and we're seeing bits and pieces of each of the siblings' stories while reading one book. I'm super excited for Brooklyn's book next! It's gonna be goooood!!!
Chad is the grizzly bear of the family. He's the big older brother who is the rock! I loved learning more about his back story and his goodness. And I loved him "taking a break" away from everything but his break goes topsy-turvy thanks to his new next door neighbor and her kids (well, kind of, you'll have to read to understand). But I loved watching Chad being the protective neighbor/dad character. It was so stinkin' sweet and cute! Seriously you're going to love Chad and Hope's story!
And I can't forget to tell you to watch for Hank!!! *smirks* I'm really hoping that Dana LeCheminant will be giving us readers the gift of Hank's story at some point. (I don't think that most of us would be opposed to begging for it...hint, hint, hint)! *winks*

2.5 stars. Contains: so many kisses like once the MCs start that is all they do/talk about doing
I didn’t really get a lot of things about this book. First of all, your sister just dies and leaves you with her kids so you sell her house and move across the country to a place you’ve never been to a house you haven’t personally inspected to save money??? Cross county moves are expensive! Uprooting two kids whose life has just been turned upside down is a bad idea! Buying and selling a house takes longer than a couple weeks. Why??
Then we have the trust funds set up by the grandparents just for the sister’s kids? Do her future kids not get any money? How could she not know she had money too? How does the kids’ dad know about the money? Did her sister know and not tell her? Why is her sister in debt if she has this money stashed away?
I really didn’t feel the chemistry between the MCs. She calls him old man and he is super possessive (he says he doesn’t share one too many times which comes across as one of those “if I can’t have her no one can have her” types). So I’m not really shipping them and then we get the third act breakup where things go downhill for me. I don’t care for grand gestures. I think they’re overdone. Instead of taking 6 hours to drive to Sun City, apologize, then drive back (2 hours each way with 2 hours there) she decides that’d be too hard on her aunt so she gets the nanny to fly in from Florida??? Wouldn’t that take a lot of money and many days to get something set up. Also, it’d probably take a few hours just to drive to the airport to pick her up. The plan doesn’t make sense. Then she leaves the kids, who probably have abandonment issues since their mom just died, for who knows how long to go apologize. Good thing the nanny packed costumes for the kids (who does that?) so they have something to wear on Halloween.
I liked Micah’s story and I’m looking forward to reading Houston’s but Chad’s take was not for me.

I wanted to like this book, but I found myself getting annoyed too many times. They are 12 years apart, which I could have gotten over if she didn’t keep calling him “old man” as a term of endearment. And the author kept saying how old he felt, he was 36 not 60. Also “beefcake” as a term for someone who is hot? Insta-love, a lot of side stories being alluded to for her other books in the series, and the main character is supposed to be strong and independent but she quickly becomes so dependent on Chad for the whole book. Sadly disappointed. I liked the characters back stories, but where the story could have been more interesting and developed than just the romance it got brushed over. I do very much appreciate that it is a clean romance.

A newish fan of this author from the beautiful book What Dreams May Come. This title grabbed me and I’m totally reading this out of order and not complaining.
Chad held my heart with all his protective instincts for the people he loved. Not to mention climbing out of a tragic past. When he tries to relax and find peace then of course that’s when badgers, wolverines, a bad guy, a storm, and Hope with her kids show up. Not so much peace.
Hope has her own hands full as she gets custody of her niece and nephew. Nothing goes the way she thinks it should, but her personality was hilarious and she just met challenges with what she already had inside. Loved that.
There is an age gap and I loved the way the author handled it. I’m just over a year plus older than my husband, but for a couple of months I’m two years older. He wouldn’t dare crack a joke. Hahaha. Just kidding. He does.

The Love in Sun City series keeps getting better. When I read She Likes it, Hey Micah, I was really curious about Chad and his next door neighbor that he was interested in. It was so fun to read his story from his own perspective!
The single parent trope of Hope raising Zelda and Link made the story so good. Chad stepped into a father role for the kids so quickly and seeing Hope as a mom caused him to fall for her even more.
"'Chad, are you and Hope going to kiss?' I would have definetly dropped my plate if Chad wasn't holding it with me. Of all the things Zelda could have said right now, why did it have to be that?"
It was a 5 star read for me, and I'm so glad I got to read it. I can't wait to read Brooklyn's story next. Thank you to the author for the advance copy of this book. A positive review was not required.

I completely enjoyed this adorable, funny story! This book had everything I could have wanted with plot line and how the tropes played out.
Chad is a private investigator who needs a vacation away from everyone for some peace and quiet. Hope and two children move in next door and bring the opposite!
I loved the age gap and how well it works because Hope had just gained guardianship over her niece and nephew and is literally thrown into adulthood. Chad’s hero complex made for some really entertaining scenes as he couldn’t help but rescue his new neighbor over and over.
I loved how Chad thinks like a Private Investigator and although we don’t really see him at his job, the habits he’s gained from his profession seep into his personal life and it was so entertaining to watch!
I absolutely adore the Briggs siblings and the way these books are colliding into each other and making me so anxious for the next two! Dana is a master at her art and I am always impressed by the wonderful stories she crafts!

Gosh, I really wanted to give this 4 stars, but parts of this book were just a little outlandish. Maybe 3.8 stars? I love love loved the premise though.
Hope is given custody of her niece and nephew after her sister dies.
They move out to nowhere Colorado and find a mountain man of a man as her next door neighbor - AND 12 years her senior. An approaching winter storm forces the family of three to house with Chad Briggs and they all get to know each other much more than Chad has ever let anyone know about him.
This is a typical grumpy man with a sweet and funny female lead. Despite my rating, I read through it in about a 15 hour timespan. The writing was great and had me giggling throughout, but like I said, some of the things that happened were a little outlandish, but it was such a cute read regardless.

This book is so funny! I was laughing out loud at so many moments. I loved the character development and the found family elements. I enjoyed seeing the Brigg’s siblings from Chad’s perspective. The kids were adorable and realistic.

There's nothing quite like a good grump, yeah? I mean in a book. Or a movie. Not in real life. Don't be a Grumpy Gus for real. That just isn't cool.
BUT! In a book, grumpy and sunshine is a beautiful combination. And when Little Miss Sunshine is also rather klutzy, that's icing on the cake!
Chad and Hope are great together, and this was just such a fun book to read!

I thought it was funny that the main character's names are Chad and Karen. That's a sense of humor I can appreciate. I always feel a little cringy when I read age-gap romance. Despite that, I always enjoy the story. The age gap isn't made into too much of a big deal, and they joke and year about it enough.

I love the way this series is laid out! It’s new and different from anything I’ve read before. The books overlap and can be read in any order, which I find so neat!
Hope’s sister passed away leaving her with sole custody of her young niece and nephew. Chad is a private investigator who is on a little get-away to relax and rewind. When Hope moves in next door, Chad is unable to stay away from the beautiful, young woman who constantly needs his help. When a snowstorm traps them all together in one house, will they be able to resist the sparks that start to fly?
Chad was the lumberjack grump of my dreams!! I loved his demeanor and his protectiveness. He was such a teddy bear underneath all his gruffness. His relationship with his siblings was the sweetest! Hope was a hoot! She was so funny and quirky. She had me laughing so much at her wittiness. I got tickled at how she loved to drive Chad crazy, even though he truly loved it! The age gap between these two was done to perfection.
The romance between Chad and Hope felt so real. The pacing was perfect and those kiss scenes….wowsa!! Let me just say Dana can bring the heat without the spice, which I absolutely love!! They had so many laugh out loud moments, but also those tender moments that bring all the feels!
The Briggs siblings felt like family to me and I’m looking for to reading all their stories to see how they all overlap with each other! And I fell in love with sweet Hank! I need him to have his own story now!! Lol
