Unidentified flying objects. Animal mutilation. Terrifying otherworldly cryptids. Countless strange phenomena. For more than 50 years, a remote ranch in the Uinta Basin has been the most significant nexus for the paranormal. Inspired by one family's confrontation with the unexplainable and terrifying... and what happened when they invited the largest scientific investigation of the paranormal to their ranch. Based on the 2005 groundbreaking, electrifying nonfiction book by Dr. Colm Kelleher and veteran investigative journalist George Knapp that revealed the captivating true history of Gorman Ranch for the first time, seizing mainstream imagination and inspiring high profile investigations, documentaries, and genre fiction in various media. Now, working hand-in-hand with Kelleher and Knapp, and incorporating never-before-seen new revelations, writer Zac Thompson (X-Men Unlimited, Undone By Blood) with Valeria Burzo (Castle Full of Blackbirds) adapts the category-defying tale in a series perfect for fans of I Hate This Place and The Low, Low Woods!

Anyone that gets a kick out of UFOs, the paranormal and discovery channel documentaries will have heard of the infamous Skinwalker ranch in Utah, where apparently every paranormal and supernatural anomaly descends on this farm. And I mean everything; native American witchcraft (the Skinwalkers), Bigfoot, UFOs, cattle mutilations, wormholes, government conspiracies and even lake monsters.

With a million books, TV shows and Joe Rogan podcasts, we now have a graphic novel based on a book of Dr. Colm Kelleher and journalist George Knapp who lead a long-term investigation into events at the Gorman ranch. While I’m a sceptic, I love this kind of stuff I was looking forward to this book I saw on Kickstarter.

However, it didn’t seem to live up to its potential. Whether the style of telling the events in this manner or even perhaps I'm just too cynical now, as this seems a book more for ‘believers’ than a more balanced, methodical look at these events. I particularly found funny, was when the research team were finding none of their numerous devices were recording anything, the rancher who had observed all these spooky goings on told them they these ‘visitors’ didn't like being watched. I did laugh. How convenient, that the rancher who has lived with attacks of a giant black dog, UFOs zooming through his fields and his cattle chopped up tells the team that had camped out on his farm with state-of-the-art equipment they can't record anything as ‘they’ don't like it so won’t come out. Now that is a great excuse to say why there isn't any certifiable data to back up any of these claims.

The art isn't the best. It's serviceable but is very dull and boring. It lacks any edge or something that is exciting.

I’m guessing there are plans for more, this is collected first volume, as this ends somewhere in the eighties so there’s are lot more to tell. I don’t think I'll be carrying on with this. It just didn't grab me enough; something just didn't click with the way the story was told, and the art didn't help. Maybe it just didn't cross over being told in a graphic novel well and is better suited to a normal book. Or perhaps when you see all the accounts laid out like this with graphic depictions without the ominous music and lighting of a TV shows or the rambling on a Joe Rogan podcast perhaps it’s not as compelling and might just seem a bit...far fetched. I mean come on. Demonic black dogs (which they didn't link to the old British myths of black dogs), bigfoot emerging from portals, UFOs, cattle mutilations and ancient native American shape shifters all in one place. Even the X-files didn’t do that.

Super watered down version of the interesting historical events on Skinwalker Ranch. Art is really lacking. You would be better served to read the actual book.
