Voltaire Pack Rising #1

Her Royal Secret

Rate this book
It’s forbidden for me to fight, but some rules are meant to be broken…

No one expects an orphaned servant girl like me to amount to anything, least of all me. But on my first shift, I’m fiercer than even the toughest wolves in the pack. I capture the attention of the royal brothers, who invite me to join training camp with them—except it’s strictly no girls allowed.

So I pretend to be one of them and tell them I’m a lost ‘prince’, because females are meant to be submissive and fighter wolves like me are unheard of. Not this she-wolf. Even the eldest brother, Prince Lex, who constantly taunts me when I’m a servant girl, welcomes me into their royal band of brothers.

But when my secret comes out, Lex looks at me in an entirely new way—and I think I like it. Only there’s not going to be a happily ever after for me. I’m to be wed to the cruellest alpha of the most vicious pack in the land as a peace offering from our side.

And when I discover the reason behind why I’ve been chosen, it will change everything...

same thing over and over again

Felt like it was going over the same thing over and over again, skipped a couple of chapters, don’t feel like I missed anything.
Probably will not read book 2

I wasn’t so sure about this one. Werewolf royalty who are striving for being more like human royals. A mix of modern and ancient ways of transportation. Plus indentured servitude, where there is no possible way to change your life. I struggled with the storyline the most. The characters were okay of not lacking in purpose. All besides Aria, she just wanted to be in the guard and free. Never able to realize her possible dreams. Not sure if I will read the next one.

DNF- This book is incredibly dull and uneventful. Took me 5 days to reach 26%. Much of the dialogue and thoughts are repetitive and then repeated 50 more times. I can’t continue-it feels like torture reading this story!

I liked the book for about the first 50% but then it just started to drag. Near the end, I found myself skimming it. I will probably not read the second one because I was bored and did not care about the characters.

so many secrets!!!

First this is seriously a book of intrigue. The secrets flying left and right are slowly starting to unravel at the end. There’s still a lot unknown but there’s so much awesome. I’m shocked. Ok so I pretty much adore Aria! I also think Cheyenne is my second favorite. I do think lex is a good guy but it’s really hard to think differently when your whole life was done a certain way. I loved watching aria and lex fight for their love. Some moments I was crying and others cussing lol. I also really like lex’s mom and sister. So now we know what happened to the ruined kingdom and where aria truly came from. I’m curious to see if there’s more survivors. I know there’s more secrets to unravel and I can’t wait to see what aria can accomplish with her new abilities. And her new knowledge. I’m excited to say book 2 is finally ready. So I reread this one to jump straight into book 2!

Oh my word! There were times that I am like what!? At one time I all most stop reading this story..

I love how strong the lead female character is you will see her strength shine. The main male character gets in my nerves with his high mighty self at times.

Edge if my seat kinda read. THERE is a cliff hanger which I HATE!

But I had to finish this book.

If you don't mind the cliff hanger, how difficult she has it and sitting at the edge of your seat and lets not forget all of the bad guys and you are hoping the good will come out on Top of having to read the next to see if the story ends then this book is for you.

I loved this so much, I can’t believe how much more addictive and even better this series is getting. My beloved strong woman Aria, she’s an amazing character, I love her so much, I can’t even tell you what she goes through, continues to without spoilers and this book had me gripped until the very last page. I need more Aria , I need book 3 now and I am impatient but I’m going to have to wait, fantastic.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Phenomenal book.
Rather enjoy this authors writing style. The way she approaches a dark and sinister topic is really something to be admired while other authors may shy away from such harsh topics she is rather raising awareness in a way through her writings while showing even the purest of love can come out of the darkest stories.

Incredible ending I saw the ending coming but not so much the person behind it. So incredibly well done.

it was interesting

It’s draws you in, and drives you crazy. You can’t stop wondering if the characters will ever stop being complicated and unrealistic. It makes you crazy and intrigued all at the same time. I couldn’t put it down in a weird sorta way.

I really dislike books has no ending…..

when I pick a book to read, I want it to end when I get to the last page! I do not want to have to read book 2… oh wait maybe book 3 to find out what happens.

I finished the book but I think i'm in a book slump. The main characters were pretty annoying and constantly contradicting themselves. I got whiplash from them. And it ends on a cliffhanger. I can't take another books of this.

DNF…extremely repetitive statements, actions…characters are suppose to be 20+ years old but their actions/phrasing is more teen..other than the sex this book is teen drama.

Good

This book was well written with great characters and storyline. A first for me by this author. It felt like a lifetime to finish this book. Not my usual genre.

The storyline of this book reminded me of the movie Milan, except that the female character in this book could shift into a wolf. Aria found that she was a very fierce wolf, almost more dominant than some of the other wolves in her pack. She wanted to participate in the fights, but they fights were only for men to participate in and so she dressed up like a man and participated. That’s the part that reminded me of the movie Mulan.
