Demon Daddy #1

The Blood Demon's Pet

Rate this book
FROM POPULAR AUTHOR OF LGBTQIA ROMANCE FICTION KD ELLIS Book one in the Demon Daddy series.

Leviathan only wanted a new feeder. He ends up with something so much better.

Eryn is broken.

A werewolf who can’t control his shift, Eryn is a liability to his pack. It wouldn’t be so bad if his wolf would at least submit to the pack Alpha, but the beast inside him is feral. Eryn knows he won’t be allowed to stay forever, but he has nowhere else to go. None of the other packs want him, either.

When his wolf goes too far one full moon, he’s left with no choice but to flee. After putting his trust in someone he shouldn’t, he ends up at a Flesh Market. Trapped in a contract he has no hopes of surviving, the last thing Eryn expects is to fall for his new master, a Blood Demon named Leviathan.

Leviathan is lonely.

One of the only Blood Demons allowed to remain on earth after the Collapse, Leviathan spends most of his free time with his nose in a history book. He can’t remember the last time he went on a good rampage. He has a few trusted servants, and who needs more than that?

Unfortunately for him, he still needs to eat. His trip to the Flesh Market is supposed to be uneventful. Instead, it leads him to Eryn, a broken werewolf who manages to slip past all his defenses.

Can Leviathan move beyond old hurts to become the Master that Eryn needs, or will the young werewolf’s fears come true?

Reader advisory: This book contains scenes of violence, references to childhood neglect and abuse, scenes of public sex, blood drinking and blood play, and kidnapping.

“For a possessive bastard, you’re not great at taking care of your toys.”
ARC Review~

For me this was just okay.

Levi buys a new “feeder” at the flesh market and it happens to be virgin Eryn who is a shifter that can’t control his shift. Big hurt/comfort themes in this book.

Levi went by Master for around half the book which was fine for me, but then he switched to “Daddy” kind of out of nowhere and I didn’t feel like he deserved that title. More than once he left Eryn alone and suffering with little care for his wellbeing. I was already sad for Eryn so this didn’t endear me to Levi at all. By the time the story picked up for me it was over. I knew there was a cliffhanger but I expected more I guess. There’s a fair bit of smut so might be worth picking up if you want a slow emotional burn, spice, and a vampire/werewolf combo.

KD JUST BLEW MY MIND!!!
I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters in a supernatural world with angst, spice, and a sweet romance!
Eryn has never fit in. His mother couldn’t stand him being a werewolf. He can’t control his shifts so his pack thinks he’s a freak. He feels unwanted, unloved, and like an outsider where ever he goes.
When an uncontrolled shift forces him out of his pack, he ends up on auction at a flesh market. Though incredibly scared, he is intrigued by the handsome, powerful man who is now his master.
Levi is a powerful blood demon, and pain in his past has forced him to take in feeders, who will sustain him with their blood, as nothing more than that. He won’t involve his heart, just his teeth. Until one beautiful little wolf turns his world upside down.
-An adorable but broken werewolf
-A solitary blood demon
-Demons on the loose
-Daddy/boy

Vampire and werewolf Daddy/boy story, with neglected, abused and abandoned Eryn and emotionally unavailable Levi. Who frankly needed a good smack for what he put Eryn through, even if it was unintentionally.

It has it's sweet moments, it's not a complicated story with twists and turns as it's easy to see what will happen and who are the bad guys.
That doesn't make it a bad story, it's entertaining with a bit of spice and a touch of humour as well.

I will continue reading the story, I want Eryn to have his happy ending, to find back to the ones he thinks are lost to him and find a safe place after being adrift for so long.

He doesn't ask for much, a warm bed and small comforts, and I like that for him. Look forward to continuing in the next book.

Lentement, je me déplie, mes genoux hurlent.

« Ne t'inquiète pas, petit loup. Tu n'as rien à faire.

Au début, ça me brûle seulement.

4.5☆ in fact.
What a start to this series..... what an ending to this book...... what an introduction to this author

I loved Eryn, he was sweet and vunerable. Yes, he had a crap life, but he was still open to trust. Even after his mum tried to kill him and other packs refused to take him.... I do think his Beta set him up.... but thats still an open question.
As for Levi, I think there is more to know about this character. I understand that hes hesitant to get close to people, and the reasons.
I desperately want book 2!
Like now.... no waiting!

It doesn't really matter the species, there are always those who are a little bit different, who will always be picked on. And those who will take advantage.

You would think not being able to shifts into a wolf whenever he wanted would be Eryn's worse problem. But no, being trick and turned over for slavery happens to be that. Granted, he technically willingly submitted himself to the slave trade, but he didn't really know what he was getting into.

The worse, he's sold to a Blood Demon... or is that better? It's hard to keep up. Levi isn't the most doting on his new meals, but something about Eryn keeps pulling him in. Granted he tried everything to stay away, but it's like fate keeps turning on his caring/nurturing instincts when it comes to the little wolf.

First book in the series and I enjoyed it a lot. Eryn and Levi have a rocky start to their relationship with Eryn being bought by Levi. Their relationship changes over time, they get a lot closer and work well together and I got drawn into their story. I am looking forward to the next book.

What started out as a business transaction for one and a purposeful mislead for the other turned out to be just what Levi and Eryn both needed. What an amazing journey of learning to trust, learning to let go and learning to love again, but with a cliffhanger that will leave you begging for more. There is so much I want to say but can’t without giving the story away. Definitely want to read the next book to find out what happens next!

A fantastic book which kept me hooked from beginning to end.

Poor Eryn needed someone to actually care about him and Levi was surprisingly, that person. Their relationship was slow burn but it slowly progressed to becoming so much more. Eryn’s insecurities held him back - the fear of being thrown away and being abandoned weighed heavily on his mind and heart.

Levi learned from his mistakes and made their time spent together memorable and special. He became more considerate, understanding, caring and not to mention possessive but can he truly love Eryn?

This instalment ends in a cliff hanger but I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next one.

Loved the book's dedication page!!!

This book is by a new to me author KD Ellis and is book 1 in a new series, Demon Daddy. Note of warning, this book ends in a cliffhanger. I knew it was a series but I did not realize it was a continuation with the 2 main characters. I thought each book was going to be about a different demon daddy, so I was surprised by the abrupt ending. Don't get me wrong I loved the book I was just operating off a different set of assumptions which is my fault.

This book brought tears to my eyes several times. Poor sweet Eyrn is way too trusting of others and got the raw end of the deal on more than one occasion. I wish he'd learn to fight back. I didn't like Levi (Leviathan) at first but he did start to grow on me a bit. Levi is a very selfish demon and his treatment of his past feeders was cringe worthy.

This book has a little of everything, Master/Pet, Daddy/Boy, blood, violence, lots of bad people, lots of naughty times

I'm definitely interested to see what happens next!

4 stars rated up to 4.5 ⭐️

First thoughts: The storyline and plot were interesting but I believe the book could have been even 200 pages longer to actually delve into it. Also the side characters and friend was super interesting hehe I would have loved more pagetime for them.
BUT surprise surprise!! the last 5 pages I discovered it’s ITS A SERIES! So cliffhanger warning but IM SO EXCITED FOR THE NEXT BOOK! Love the potential of this series and the writing style was SO NICE! And the EMOTIONS - from page 5 I was already crying and hurting and then the SEXY TIMES 😏 so hot and perfectly placed in the book, also we love a well done daddy kink 🤌🏼 and finally rated up to 4.5 enjoyment stars ⭐️ because this was exactly what I needed to get out of my slump and I love the main characters 🫶🏼

Original notes: 3.5⭐

Reread notes: Sticking with a 3.5 rating, would probably rate higher if there was more of Eryn and Levi getting to know each other - don't get me wrong, the smut is great but I don't at all feel the bond that Levi says is developing.

So, surprisingly, to me at least, I quite enjoyed this one.

For starters, I really, really don't like the Daddy kink. I've never liked it, and I don't think I ever will. But I managed to just kind of ignore it, cringing internally a little bit, and it certainly wasn't enough to make me stop reading this one. I didn't know it was going to have the Daddy thing; maybe if I did, I wouldn't have picked it up. BUT I'm glad nothing told me lol although I should have inferred it because the series is literally called "Demon Daddy"… so yeah, that's on me.

Besides that, maybe what I didn't quite like either was that it had too much sex. For this one, I think I just wanted more emotional bonding between Eryn and Levi. It felt kind of rushed the way they just started being sexual without getting to properly know each other, at least considering their situation. By the end of the book, they still didn't know each other at all. Maybe they could've just… sit down and talked with each other lol, at least once. I don't think they ever had like a real, proper chat. Not a long one, at least, and I think they really need one considering Eryn's issues with himself and the uncertainty he has always felt about his relationship with Levi. I felt really bad for him because, well, he couldn't really read Levi's POV like we did, so he didn't know he meant a lot to him. So yeah, overall, I just think they lacked a lot of communication, so I hope they get the chance to talk properly in the next book.

I wished we got more of Eryn's werewolf nature too. I think I just wanted to see more of him with his wolf, his issue with transforming, and how the pack still influences his life overall. That disappointed me quite a bit, if I'm being honest. I hope we get more of that in the next book, along with more of Leviathan's past (and Eryn’s too, I haven’t forgotten about his mother…). Which is coming to bite him right in the ass, lol.

I pretty much liked the rest; it was fast-paced, I enjoyed the interactions between Eryn and Levi, the writing was nice too, imo. This book is the first one in a series, so I didn't really have high standards for it, but it was a pleasant surprise I enjoyed it as much as I did. It does end with a cliffhanger though; I really liked that hehe. I loooove cliffhangers so much. It just makes me incredibly excited for the next book, and I totally am.

— Thank you to the GRR team and KD Ellis for providing me with an ARC of this lovely story, I’m thrilled to read more of Levi and Eryn.

Eryn is a werewolf who cannot control his shift, or apparently his unleashed wolf either, as he is told he killed his Alpha. Rather than be killed himself, Eryn goes to the Flesh Market with his pack Beta, where he is purchased by Blood Demon Prince Leviathan as a blood feeder.

Levi catches a glimpse of Eryn at the market, and immediately wants the innocent little wolf as his own, so he buys him at the auction. Eryn is unlike any other feeder Levi has had, he isn’t quite sure how to take Eryn, but he is definitely attracted to him physically. Over time, the boy works his way under Levi’s skin, a bond is starting to form, and Levi finds it harder to be away from his little wolf. When he needs to go to the city to track down some demons (not quite sure how to classify the different creatures he meets), he cannot bear being without Eryn so he takes him along. That is when things get complicated, and there are more dangers and unexpected foes than Levi is prepared for.

There is quite a world building going on with more supernaturals, humans that seem to have little importance in this time, governments that have been rearranged, and familiar elements in cities (think New York here), but still the battle between good and evil continues, just with more magical beings as the main characters.

Eryn has never felt loved nor had any feeling of self-worth, unable to see himself as having any value to Levi other than being his feeder, believing he is destined to die at Levi’s hand. As Levi becomes more involved with Eryn, seeing him as a pet to begin with but now thinking he may be the boy that Levi has been longing for since his last one left, Eryn gets more time and attention from Levi, being told to call him Daddy. As the two become closer, Levi promises not to hurt or leave him, Eryn’s hopes and dreams involve Levi more and more, trusting the Blood Demon, caring for him and wanting to be anything he needs. Meanwhile, Levi senses a blood bond forming — maybe a soul bond if it gets strong enough.

There is definitely a cliffhanger, and an excerpt from the next book, so a book two must be in the works to continue the tale of Levi and Eryn. I hope it doesn’t take too long to come out as I want to know what happens to these two, and will the Daddy/boy dynamic last.

I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

Wow! This is one of those books that draws you in and literally suspends time until you suddenly find yourself at the end crying "Not yet!" There's so much I could say about this and I want to do it justice ...
For starters, this does end on a cliffhanger. And it's a doozy, too! That said, everything that leads up to that point is more than I expected. There's a lot of world building but it's actually parceled out in perfect increments, so you don't feel overwhelmed. It has a bit of an apocalyptic feel - paranormal creatures have been forced out into the open and the resulting chaos has fractured society. New boundaries and territories have been formed within the US and it's not been to the advantage of humans. Eryn is a young wolf shifter that was orphaned and taken in by the Alpha of a large pack. He has trouble controlling his shifts and his wolf, and is deemed defective. Due to an incident that results in the death of the Alpha - or so we are told - Eryn is convinced by the Beta (not a good guy) that he is responsible. Fearing that the other wolves will kill him, he agrees to let the Beta help him, but he winds up being auctioned off at a Flesh Market. Levi is a demon looking for a new feeder when he comes across Eryn and feels compelled to own him. The story really focuses on the budding relationship between Master and slave, and Levi 's being called in to help with a problem of lesser demons being summoned into what once was New York. There is a secondary element in that Levi is a Daddy and wants to make Eryn his boy.
I absolutely fell in love with Eryn. He's had the most abysmal life up to then and you can feel how much he just wants to be cared for and to belong. I kind of want to wrap him up in a blanket and protect him. Levi is exactly what you would expect of a vampiric demon ... until he isn't! You get the sense that he's just as longing for someone to belong to him and it shows as his behavior towards Eryn begins to soften. That's not to say that there aren't a few smexy scenes!
I don't want to give too much away that leads up to the cliffhanger ending but I will say that I'm eagerly going to dive into the next book and I can't wait to see what surprises the author has in store. I completely recommend this book and I'm certain, the whole series. Fantastic start 5/5*

THE BLOOD DEMON'S PET is the first book in the Demon Daddy series. We have Levi, the blood demon, and Eryn, the werewolf. There are a multitude of supporting characters that I adored, who did their job superbly.

Levi has been alone for quite a while. The last time he thought he'd found a long-term love, he was betrayed and stolen from. Since then, when he needs to feed, he keeps it as clinical as possible. Eryn is a werewolf who can't control either his shifts or the wolf inside. He gets told by the Beta that he has killed the Alpha, but he will help him escape. Can you hear the alarm bells ringing? I could and I hated what poor Eryn went through.

The attraction is instant but Levi tries to keep it clinical, even though he doesn't know Eryn's whole story. He isn't prepared to take a risk. In fact, when things move on between them, he is the one to put on the brakes and take a step back. I didn't like his behaviour (as I wasn't meant to) but I did understand it.

When he and Eryn are together, make sure you've got a fan because these two are H.O.T! Slowly, slowly in every way but s€x. And just when it gets even better, everything goes to hell in a handbasket, thanks to the ex. And...

...then it ends. So be prepared. I knew it ended on a cliffhanger and it still caught me by surprise.

I loved this story and will be re-reading it in the time I have to wait for the next part. Absolutely brilliant and definitely recommended by me.

Independent reviewer for GRR, I was gifted my copy of this book.

So, here's the thing. I'm not gonna rehash the blurb. I'm not gonna retell the story. I'm not even gonna tell you what I liked. What I AM gonna do, though, is this....

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Because, my good people, this book made me scream in frustration at finishing it! I mean, it comes with a major cliffhanger warning, I knew that cliffhanger was coming at me. I was unprepared for the darn thing to come at me, at the point it did!!

And I threw my kindle at the wall! Not done that in a while, and this particular model hasn't had that pleasure, but it went, and went twice, and maybe even three times, I was so ANGRY!

Just as Levi and Eyrn begin to really be together, the past comes and whips it all away, quite literally. And now, I gotta wait. How long, I wasn't sure. NOW I know, I'm not flipping happy and my partner thinks it's hilarious that I was pacing the living room, ranting about having to wait til. . . .JANUARY!! 3 whole months, I'm gonna be on tenterhooks, waiting for book 2.

I suppose I should write a bit about what I liked, shouldn't I?

It's oh-so dark and deadly. It's bloody and smexy. I loved that Eryn crept into Levi's heart and soul (if he actually has one) and that Eryn let him in, even if he hated his kind.

It's a vampire book, and these guys are not the sparkling in the sun kind!

Oh, I wanna rant how good it is, now, but I'm gonna have to wrap this up, or I will be here all day!

AND ALSO, this is the first of this author I have read! If she/they can wrangle these extreme emotions out of me, on my first foray into their writing, you better be SURE I'm-a jumping into their other books feet first!

Anyway, in case you missed how I felt about this book:

I freaking LOVED it, and 3 months is a long, LONG time to wait, but I better get my hands on it, really had!

5 oh-so-dark and deadly, but *CLIFFHANGING* stars

*same worded review will appear elsewhere

ps, no kindles were harmed in the reading of this book.

There is definitely a lot to love in this starter for a new series by Ellis. Paranormal. Check. Virgin MC. Check. Size different, bonding. And best of all, it's daddy/boy, my favorite troop.
Eryn, a werewolf, has trouble shifting even under a full moon. He needs the power of his Alpha to control the shifter. Convinced by his pack's evil Beta that he killed the Alpha during his feral shift (which I didn't believe for a second), Eryn is tricked into signing a two year blood feeding contract. It's doubtful that the little wolf would survive being a feeder for a period of two weeks, let alone fulfill his contract.
Levi is a Bloodwraith in need of a new feeder after he accidently takes too much blood from the last. He's drawn to Eryn, and buys him. Used to criminal feeders, he treats the boy badly at first.
Eryn's innocence wins the demon over and a blood bond begins.
Now the whining part. It's a CLIFFHANGER. Which I really hate. Book two is only three months away, but still. I'm invested in what comes next for our MCs. Had I bothered to read the whole GRR blurb, I might've passed on this.... Although, who am I kidding? I've read and loved Ellis' contemporary books and was quite taken with this book's description.
I can patiently wait for book two.... Surrrrrrre, I can.
I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

I enjoyed the set up for this story and the developing plot, interesting world building along with steamy scenes throughout made for an amazing read.

Eryn is my favourite, he deserves all the hugs and comfort with all the events that happen to him. His finding joy in the small moments, his love of the gardens and the animals. Just wanting to be accepted and his falling in love with Levi, his master/daddy.

Levi took a while to grow on me as he is ancient and very different perspective to start, his dismissive and not recognising his mistakes. But of course Eryn sneaks his way into his heart and he starts to see things in a new light.

These two provide something to each other that they've never had before and it was wonderful to see the alternating povs. Developing relationship and feels throughout, there's darkness and sweet moments all in one.

Lots of steamy scenes throughout, along with action and romance that was so perfectly done. I loved every moment of this book.

It ends on a major cliffhanger/abrupt ending, which is fitting to the story I just probably would have checked about next book if known. Still I'm invested in Levi & Eryn story and I'm excited to read the rest, see what's next for them after how this one ends!

I’m so blown away by this book I can’t even remember if this is my first time reading KD, but it’s definitely one I will always remember! If all paranormal stories were like this, I’d be a forever fan because I am so addicted!! The level of spice and smut was evenly distributed throughout with just the right amount of suspense to keep the story going. Luckily, I have the necessary content to continue with this cliffhanger and hopefully we have fairytale ending.

𝐼 𝓈𝒽𝑜𝓊𝓁𝒹𝓃’𝓉 𝓌𝒶𝓃𝓉 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝓂𝒶𝓃 𝓉𝑜 𝓉𝑜𝓊𝒸𝒽 𝓂𝑒 𝓌𝒽𝑒𝓃 𝐼 𝓀𝓃𝑜𝓌 𝓈𝑜𝓂𝑒𝒹𝒶𝓎 𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝓉𝑜𝓊𝒸𝒽 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁 𝒷𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁𝓈 𝓂𝑒. 𝒮𝒽𝑜𝓊𝓁𝒹𝓃’𝓉 𝓌𝒶𝓃𝓉 𝓉𝑜 𝒷𝓇𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒽𝒾𝓂 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓈𝒶𝓂𝑒 𝓅𝓁𝑒𝒶𝓈𝓊𝓇𝑒 𝒽𝑒 𝑔𝒶𝓋𝑒 𝓂𝑒.

Before I go, though, I have to comment on the perfection of Eryn and Leviathan. Right from the start, their chemistry was so appealing and swoon worthy, leaving tingles in my tummy. Their connection was instantaneous, never leaving room for doubt (even if Eryn didn’t believe). I have to admit, I have never been more impressed with an author’s writing style, especially during the sex scenes. The descriptions were so accurate, I felt like I was right there with them each and every time!

As previously stated, I knew going in the direction of the ending, so preparations were made. What I wasn’t prepared for was the fashion of which we were left…..

Eryn is a werewolf that cannot control his shift nor is his wolf submissive, causing problems for the whole pack. Through the Beta, he winds up at the Flesh Market but is unaware of the consequences. It is here where Leviathan spots him. Levi is in the market for a new feeder and is sure Eryn would be perfect. His life can be lonely and he finds Eryn intriguing. Will the two find something together?

Eryn was truly a broken werewolf. He puts his trust in the wrong person and winds up in the Flesh Market. Everything he has heard leads him to believe he will not survive Levi, but there is something between the two that could lead to more. Levi is the only blood demon allowed on earth after the Collapse. He is, however, required to help where needed and it is in this that trouble comes.

This is the start of new series called Demon Daddy. Levi and Eryn seem to be heading that way, but we will need to read the next book to see if they are successful. I certainly hope that KD Ellis is a speed writer as we will all want that next book. Great heroes set in a great plot – don’t miss this one.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it to my pleasure. The opinions are my own.

While there is nothing aside from the series’s title to indicate this has Daddy kink, it was exactly that that sold me on it. I can’t say I’m a fan of Daddy kink, but as I’ve set myself a challenge that requires I read a book with Daddy kink, I was trying to find a book where the Daddy kink was not main focus. It’s certainly there, but there’s enough other things going on to distract me.

Sure, there’s plot… and it’s a fun plot. And enjoyable writing…

But there’s also cockwarming, felching, blood play, flip fucking, lingerie, a demon prince, a pretty little werewolf, size kink, etc.

I’m a little less tickled with the lack of lube at times (if you are gonna fuck all the time, carry some lube with you, or have demon dicks be self lubricating). Also not pleased with the hint of fisting, but as of yet, no delivery.

And I was a bit annoyed to see its a cliffhanger ending. Thankfully, the second book is already out, so I don’t have to wait to see how it all plays out.

I’m also confused as to who the cover model is supposed to be… because Eryn has super long blond hair and is itty bitty. And Levi is a beefy demon dude who’s a head taller and twice as wide as Eryn with long inky black hair. So who is this 12 year old child on the cover?

It did warn me when I signed up for this book as an ARC but the cliff hanger? Argh, I need book two ASAP!! Without risking any spoilers, I did really enjoy this book from start to finish. It had interesting characters; I definitely felt for Eryn and the things he went through and I also want to know more about Levi in future books too. I thought the world building was good and I liked some of the secondary characters we got a glimpse of in Levi's house too. There was plenty of action, lots of emotional bits and the characters are definitely not perfect. Levi made a lot of mistakes with his 'pet' and it was good to see how he tried to do better because he realised how much he cared for Eryn. There were some sweet bits and I'm really rooting for these two to get their HEA. I thought the daddy-kink was lightly done and was quite sweet - this might be something that develops further in the next book. Overall, I can't wait for book 2 and I hope there's not too much angst before we get to see them happily settled together. If you like paranormal romance (and don't mind cliff hangers!) then I'd recommend jumping right in to this read.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Damn that cliffhanger!

The blurb gives you a good idea of what you should expect, while the title tells you all you need to know about the two main characters to decide if this book is for you.
Eryn, a young unwanted wolf, and Levi, a centuries-old Blood Demon, are the Pet and Daddy of the title. Eryn was so sad and so sweet, my heart hurt for him from the very start. Levi, however, was a harder character to like. He was very peremptory and high-handed in his dealings with almost everyone and although Eryn was just his type, he really didn't treat him very well at the beginning. As the story progressed, his little wolf burrowed his way into Levi's heart and I began to warm to him.
We did get some world-building but most of the time, it was Eryn and Levi getting down and dirty. There were a few very sweet scenes, my favourite being Eryn in the greenhouse with one of Levi's friends, just adorable. Then suddenly there was a shock and then a massive cliffhanger.
I have the next book and was going to wait a few days to read it but now I'm off to devour it as I need to know the villains get their comeuppance.

It’s rare for me to rate a book 5 stars, but when I finished this one and desperately wanted to read more I knew I had to give it the full 5.

For starters, I think the characters of Eryn and Leviathan were quite well done. Though Eryn did seem to submit to Levi quickly, his past and the fact that he really wanted someone to care for him did ultimately make sense. I also liked that Leviathan could admit when he’d done wrong and work toward a solution, he didn’t come across as one of those hotheaded doms that always has to be right and put the blame on their submissive for their own failures.

It would have been nice to see more interaction between them outside of a sexual nature, but hopefully we will get more of that in the next book.

It truly did leave me wanting more - more of Eryn’s werewolf nature, more insight into what happened with his old pack (I want to see the Beta punished for what he did to Eryn), more on the side characters like Aries, and more on Leviathan’s history as well.

Can’t wait to read the sequel!

A Joyfully Jay review.

2.75 stars

Levi, short for Leviathan, is the big, bad bloodwraith who is so old, so powerful, and so rich he’s seen and had everything. But he’s never felt like this before. Something about this boy just tugs at his heartstrings so much that he goes from drinking from him and tossing him aside to fretting over him when he’s cold. Levi goes from jaded and indifferent to obsessive and madly in love so fast that it’s almost unbelievable. (For me, personally, it was utterly unbelievable.)

Levi likes being called Daddy, hence the series name, Demon Daddy, but I didn’t feel a connection between Eryn and Levi. It felt so rote, so predicted and predictable that it was actually somewhat boring.

This was an interesting read. The highlight for me was Eryn, the “pet” in the story. He is very easy to have empathy for as he’s been mistreated by most everyone in his life. He’s been cast off by his pack because he cannot control his shifts, his inner wolf is unwilling to submit. Levi is harder to know, he is an ancient bloodwraith who buys Eryn at an auction to use as a feeder. The things we learn about him are not exactly endearing, he cast off his prior boy and buys pets to feed on from a pretty terrifying auction. I liked when Aries showed up as we get to see a different side of Levi, Aries seems the closest thing Levi has to a friend. I’m hoping the second book develops the relationship between Levi and Eryn some more and explores the Daddy side of their relationship. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book and hopefully to seeing Eryn getting some of his power back.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

✨ Book Review ✨

✨ "The Blood Demon's Pet" by KD Ellis
✨ Series: "Demon Daddy", book 1

✨ Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

👹 EXCUSE me?! That ENDING. Are you JOKING. I'm so glad I already have the second one downloaded, omg.

🐺 Okay, review thoughts. The Daddy/Pet dynamic isn't typically one I go for, but in this case it worked really well. I love seeing relationships build into something strong, and Levi and Eryn have all the makings of an inseparable couple.

👹 I am going to need some Monster!Levi fanart, stat. Throw in some Wolf Eryn as well, he sounded gorgeous

🐺 I'm not sure what is going on with Eryn's original pack, but I hope we get more answers in the next book. This is definitely an "I don't need sleep, I need answers!" situation

Pick up if you love: wolfing around, hurt/comfort, first times, *possessive* MC, dirty talk, primal play, public s*x, cockwarming, and a Daddy's monstrous appetite for everything from his Pet.
