I really liked the first book in this series, so I was happy to get my hands on the second book. Doryan just can’t seem to accept his new life because of revelations about his old life. However, he has to try because there is a town that is teeming with zombies, and he has a new enemy to face that is so much more powerful than him and his team. I really enjoyed this second book, probably more than the first. The background in this book came a little out of left field since the backstory to certain details changed a little bit, but it was a good change (can’t say too much). I am growing quite fond of these characters, and I can’t wait to see what the next book holds. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Thank you to BookSirens for the ARC. This is a sequel that I was hugely looking forward to after loving the first book, and it did not disappoint.

I am absolutely obsessed with how the author uses established myth - combined with pop culture references! - to set out the basis of the world, but then develops their own explanations and lore around that. Without including any spoilers, one bit that particularly stood out was the explanation as to why staking a vampire has an effect: a brilliant bit of narrative.

I enjoyed the moral greyness of some of the new side characters, which really added some extra depth to the story, as did the developed backstories that were shared in this book. I think you could probably read it as a standalone novel and still really enjoy it, but I'd recommend reading the first one too.

Picking up soon after the end of book one, ‘The Necromancer’s Rise’ pitches Doryan headfirst into more supernatural shennanigans than his limted understanding of his new life can handle. And things only go down hill from there.

Adria proves yet again to be difficult to kill while Doryan takes the brunt of the damage. Emerging triumphant (?) with brand new weapons of questionable origin and even more confused than ever about his place in the fight for humanity.

The Necromancer’s Rise Reapers Reborn Chronicles Book 2 Alex Gates really digs into some character’s’ backgrounds while fighting evil. After all, what would you do if someone told you that they saw a zombie?
Let’s follow Doryan’s adventures in this new phase of his life as he learns the skills needed to go forward, while contemplating what he may, or may not, have left behind.
Riveting story.

I didn’t read the first book and it turnout fine. Seems like i didn’t miss any critical event mention in book1. 1/2 thru the book it’s an ok read. The last few chapter is where the action begin. When it ends i need the next book asap.

3.5 stars. I kept seeing this like an animated show in my head. It was over the top and very comic book like. I felt like the book came to a final battle....and then ,nope, more to come. Many details were not really fleshed out or explained. I received this ARC from Booksirens and am happy to leave this review.

A fantastic second foray into the strange and spooky with Doryan. This series continues to be highly entertaining as Doryan and his crew face-off with a formidable enemy. Very engaging, I'm looking forward to reading more.
