It was supposed to be a fresh start… instead, I got screwed by the past…
When I was handed the keys to Willowrest Manor, I knew things weren’t going to be easy. A crumbling old B&B, rumors of apparitions, tales of missing guests… all of it clung to the walls better than the peeling wallpaper.
But when legends entwine with the present, and things go bump in the night, I start to wonder if I’m really alone. Surely it’s a nightmare… and the hands I feel all over me whilst I sleep must be my imagination… but what if it’s not?

What a twisted little ghost! I loved it. Read to find out where the Victorian ghost puts his ectoplasm. This was a thrilling haunted house novella that had me gripping my blanket for what happened next.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Kassandra Cross! It has been a pleasure.
I found these short stories just scrolling through KU & omg this one might be my fav so far in the series 🫢
It was so interesting and the ending had me SHOOK! If this book was longer I would’ve enjoyed it even more! I was reading this book in my living room in the pitch dark at like 2am and this book was a little eerie and spooky that I had to turn the light on lmao cause I’m a scaredy cat 🤣😭 but it made it good! This would’ve been perfect to read during the fall time!
* SPOILER WARNING ‼️ *
I did not expect Vincent to possess her like tf 😭 my jaw dropped when I realized what he did! And the ending where the realtor goes and gets taken by them was crazy! I think the author could probably make a follow up novella to show what happens to fmc and to the realtor! Like what if she had Vincent possess the realtors body, so he’s able to leave the home and get out of the fmc’s body. (I forgot her name😭) I think that would’ve been a cool idea

The exposition of the story is pretty solid, and overall, the writing is pretty good in the first half. That said, I had a hard time turning off editor mode in my brain, because I kept seeing opportunities to improve it.
Around the halfway point, things get really rushed. Two sexual encounters (without conversation or even a kiss on the mouth) lead to instant obsession and what she calls "lovesickness." When he shows up to their séance date with a bouquet of red flags that just get bigger and brighter, she starts to tap the brakes, and he comes back with an abuser's playbook of demand and manipulation. There is no HEA. There's only eternal prison until someone breaks his hold on her.
The way things unfold would be decent for a horror story, but this was not billed as that.

🗝🪦 A Haunted House 🖤🩸 Gothic Vibes 👀 N0n-Con/Dub-C0n 🫦 Somnophelia 🥀 Victoriana 👻 And a randy ghost who always gets what he wants!
I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THE STORY OF VINCENT & MISS HARRIS 🖤 I can’t get enough of them, I need more 😩 I would sell my right titty for another book on these two! A ghost who tells you through a ouija board “I - WANT - TO - LOVE - YOU” Am I sat here swooning over a 19th century ghost? YES. YES I FUCKIN AM. This was the perfect mix of spicy and spooky!
““You did well, little darling,” the voice came from behind me. It was thick and grave as if it had been sealed away for a century in the endless dark.” -quote from The Ghosts Pet by Kassandra Cross
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
When I tell you I devoured this book… I mean I devoured it in one sitting! I went in completely blind and I can only say I wish there was more, I want it to be longer, what happens next?!!!this was a perfect Halloween read especially when the veil will be at its thinnest I wonder if I can find a Vincent for my own? 🤔🥵❤️🔥
It didn’t make much sense. It started out really strong and pulls you in. Then it goes sideways and never recovers. I literally finished the book and was like ‘wtf did I just read’ it isn’t a monster romance, it is horror short story. Which could have been so cool but it wasn’t advertised as horror and the build up to the ending didn’t make sense. It felt rushed and incomplete.
As a side note- the ‘romance’ just felt r*pey and one second she thinks his portrait is creepy the next she’s obsessed with him with literally no build up? The ‘romance’ wasn’t romancing in any sense of the word.
This story was very interesting and a twist I didn’t see coming. This perfect short story is perfect for this time of the year. Miss Harris is trying to start a new life and buys the Willowrest Manor. Never did she think the it would be haunted. What happens is sexy and insane and the ending omg. Another great read that I enjoyed.
I voluntarily reviewed this ARC in exchange for an honest review
Sooo, im not really sure what to say. This has definite creep factor with a very limited amount of spice. But what gets me is I didn't really classify that as an hea. Was there supposed to be one? I'm not sure. But for me, its something I like to read in a book. However not everyone needs it so if your looking for a creepy short book with a few scenes of a little bit of steam and ending without an hea then this is for you.
I found this disappointing. I was expecting a quick, sexy read, but didn't really get that. The premise was great, but the reality didn't live up to it. There is so much an author could do with this premise, so many ways it could go, but the author chose the apparent worst, and didn't follow through. You are left not really knowing what the outcome is (sorry, trying not to give spoilers to those who want to read it.)
"He was faded, like an old picture, but he was still all man. An incredible man. Dark and menacing, but an alpha who knew what he wanted and exactly how to take it.
Definitely don't know what I just read but it certainly wasn't romance 😅 especially if that ending means what I think...
Nothing I can say without spoiling, just that yall might wanna save this read for october/Halloween bc it'll certainly set the mood.
This is the next book in the monster pet series. This is about a ghost who is stranded and a girl who is the only one stupid enough to buy the old, creepy, Victorian style house in a small town that everyone swears is cursed. This was a perfect short spooky read. It has that classic spooky, eerie vibe with a bit of spice and a very interesting ending. I wish it would have been a little more of the ghost and her but it was great considering the length of the story.
I thought it was a quick and easy read. The perfect blend of suspense and spooky. The whole story is a bit of a mystery, so you will easily be hanging on every word. We get some delicious and some unexpected spice!! Then we have the twist at the end and I definitely wasn't expecting that! I think it was the perfect short and spicy, Halloween read!!
Firstly, I wouldn't say this is a romance - it's a ghost story with erotic/romantic elements. That being said, I loved it! I went in expecting a ghostie romance but got a horror twist, and I was there for it! It hooked me from the start and left me wanting more! Seriously, there needs to be another story because I NEED to know what happens next!
The mmc literally kills our fmc! And that's how it ends.
I was looking for smutty romance and this did not deliver. This had lame smut and an mmc who believes romance is killing his, "pet" and not even explaining it to her. We don't even get to see them romantically living out their eternal lives, just their shared souls using her gross dead body as a puppet .
its not a monster romance. a paranormal one fine but some call it horror? im not so sure.
I mean the MMC is a ghost, but everything that happened leading up to their first interaction just made it obvious who it was. it has no HEA. maybe that's the horror? idk. It wasnt for me even if it was a very short read.
This was a fun story. I really appreciate all the lore the author was able to tie into it in such a short amount of time. I wasnt expecting the twist! Basically Miss Harris purchases a haunted home and becomes infatuated with the ghost haunting her. She figures out a way to communicate and then all hell breaks loose. I dont want to spoil anything!
This was a very interesting book. Miss Harris is getting a fresh start. She has purchased Willowrest Manor. Its a beautiful home. She can't wait until she can bring the old manor back to life as a bed and breakfast. There are secrets lurking behind the walls. That or she is crazy. As Halloween approaches this vs begin to come into focus.
Talk about a spooky ride! I'll never be able to look at the word ectoplasm the same way again lol! This novella is a super quick read, and still manages to pack plenty of spice and plot in its pages!
Totally not what I was expecting. Such a different vibe from the other ones in this series. Don't get me wrong this book is amazing. You will be hooked. Just don't think that all the endings are the same.
