A rag-tag band of orphans caught in the crossfire… When war breaks out in Ukraine, the Russian Army doesn’t care where their bombs land. An orphanage and a hospital are collateral damage, as are the thirteen children left to survive in the rubble.
A woman determined to save them… Wildlife biologist Meghan Muir is volunteering at a wolf sanctuary in Ukraine when the hostilities break out. On her way to a friendly embassy in Kyiv, she stumbles across a man playing Pied Piper to a group of orphans. Her mission immediately changes from flight to fight, and rescuing these children becomes all that matters.
A Wolf in the line of fire… Fraser “Kin” Kincaid carries his scars deep inside. He’s lost friends to war. And he lost himself along the way back from the battle. When a secret mission is the only option, the Hard Target team gets the assignment. Kin will do his job, even if it means losing the one woman who could heal his heart—Meg Muir. His mate. In this very personal war, who will emerge victorious?

I loved the story of Kin and Megan! Watching their attraction grow as they traveled to safety! Amazing story line and I loved the descriptions of the escape. I can't wait to see what goes on with Max! I do wish I could get a back story or more information now about the episode in the cabin they abandoned quickly! Also, can't wait for Dalton's story next.
It’s been a long time coming, at least for those of us with no patience, and now we have to wait for the next book. Dalton maybe?? Don’t care, love all of the Hard Target Team. The story really did tug at my heart. We have all watched the travesty taking place in Ukraine and every little bit of hope even in a story is welcome. Not that this story is all sad and tears. I got lots of giggles with references to Father Goose, (one of my fave Cary Grant movies), Die Hard and Red Dawn. Seamlessly done too. And a really good HEA. And a bonus short too! My only complaint? I read it too fast.
This was Ms. James' best book yet. I loved it and it was well worth the wait. Every bit of it. Down to the happy ending which totally made me cry. Dang it.
