Piccola Volpe: Little Fox

XANDER
She’s ours, even if she doesn’t know it. Even if she isn’t a wolf-shifter. Even if her shifter hasn’t surfaced yet.
I’ve endured far too many years of torture and abuse with the only thought keeping me alive, the only thing that enabled me to endure the pain and agony being bestowed on me, was the hope of finding my divinely-chosen true-mate. Our true-mate. And there’s no way in hell we’re losing her now that we’ve found her.

She may not be a wolf but I’m still her alpha and once her shifter emerges there will be no denying that fact…or us.

JAXSON
Of course, our true-mate would be the rare female who wouldn’t want anything to do with us.

She’s somehow been able to resist my charms. Which let’s be real…with my dazzling smile, mischievously spirited eyes, and playfully seductive personality is truly shocking. Not that she’s completely immune. I see the way she bites the inside of her cheek to prevent herself from smiling or laughing at one of my hilarious comments. I see how her cheeks pinken ever so slightly when she catches sight of me right before averting her gaze.

She can look away all she likes; we’ll just stand in front of her until we’re all she sees.

ETHAN
The darkness I’ve kept boxed up and sealed tight inside me stirred for the first time in years.

One moment. One shared stare. One unguarded gaze. My ink-black eyes connecting with her green ones unveiled a shadow on her soul that matched mine. A loss like mine. And a guilt like mine.

We are each other’s dark mirrors, and she’s who I’ve been waiting for since they were torn from my life. Since I was labeled as something unworthy and burdensome. Since I learned how letting others in can only hurt you. Since I started forming and molding my stoic if not cold exterior.

She can deny our connection all she likes but it doesn’t change anything. Her fox and our wolves are fated. Thus, we are fated. That is the truth. And truth is all there is.

BILLIE

Billie Mahoney, half Irish, half Italian, and apparently a fox-shifter…yeah, shocked the hell outta me too.

I thought my world had shattered enough for one lifetime. Ya know, orphaned at six, then some real growing years in foster care, and quality time on the streets of Boston until former boxing champion Micky O’Sullivan adopted me at the age of twelve.

Listen, I know I've got some issues (don’t we all). But with therapy, meds, exercise, and having Micky, his son Jimmy, and the rest of The Den in my corner, I’m more or less a functioning member of society. A twenty-year-old college freshman (I repeated two grades, so what) on scholarship. Take that, all you bullies and doubters from my youth.

But finding out I have another entity living inside me and can change into a fox? That three wolf-shifters (hot-as-feck wolf-shifters) are apparently my mates? Then add in aggressive wolf-shifter ex-girlfriends and a pack alpha who’d rather kill me than have me mate one of his wolves (which hey I’m not really too keen on the idea either…I swear). Let’s just say none of my current coping strategies are gonna save me from this turd-tornado.

I’m Billie Mahoney. I’ve been fighting for my life for longer than I can remember and am not about to stop now.

Needs some warnings, and editing

This was a decent book. With some editing for some oopsies and to smooth out the flow it could be great. But first and foremost, readers deserve warnings. Dub-con, assaults (on and off screen), childhood trauma, familial loss, mentions of suic*de, hintings of r*pe, plotting of r*pe by a couple characters, alcohol impaired judgement (anything but a sober, uncoerced yes is a no!), and sleep impaired judgements (again, reeks of coercion as she's not awake to say yes). I loathe the drunk induced steam scenes. He wasn't drunk but he could tell she was, he still progressed with smexy times, that's assault. That's not loving mate behavior and ruined their first time for me. Then she claims 2 mates while still almost asleep? And 1 mate strips her while asleep and gets her riled up so she's ready to go before she's awake? She can't give consent while asleep! They didn't discuss what was ok and what wasn't beforehand. He assumed and pushed for what he wanted. Again, not loving mate behavior and ruined a scene. Consent is assumed just because you're in a relationship. There is no such thing as blanket consent unless so stated and agreed upon by ALL parties. And even then anyone is allowed to change their minds at any time and it should be respected. But the kicker, the final death knell on this "romance" is the 1 character knows his dad attempted to r*pe his mate, a marked mate, and he just sort of mentally glosses over it and instantly forgets it happened?? Um, nope. So, while this book has some great ideas, some really good character development, great world building, and a fleshed out plot, it lacked depth, heart and reactions based on any kind of reality. And I'm a little disturbed by Ethan's desperate need to bond to Billie's darkness. Like he wants to wallow in it instead of moving past it and pursuing light for both of them.
The editing, that's a jumble. Words like captivated instead of captured, homonyms swapped, misspellings (and not anything UK/US just out and out misspellings), tense swaps (as in using present, past and future in the same sentence to describe something that only reflects 1 of those), words left out and dropped completely-or random ones scattered in, and general punctuation mayhem and chaos.

The main characters all go to college together and play soccer, the FMC for the girl's team and the MCs for the guys. This is a paranormal shifter book with Alphas and Betas.

Loved the FMC, it's a really intriguing character. She was emotionally mature, or at least learning how to be so through communication. She stood up to bullying in a calm honest confident way that was very cool. She was also fun, she played in a carefree way.

The MMCs while being shifters, and one is an Alpha, are calmer and more emotionally available modern-day Men. They are all about taking care of the FMC in any way she says she needs, instead of telling her what she needs in the way some Alpha Characters do.

There is some other women drama with petty bullying that the FMC shuts down in the best possible ways and the MMCs only need to step in when they go too far because the FMC can take care of herself in a lot of ways. However she's not the typical badass FMC, she's just confident but not overly so and calm under pressure. She knows how to fight/box but chooses to use her brain instead of fists.

Holy smokes!

This book was an unexpected awesome find. This was recommended to me in a reader group. I read the blurb and figured it sounded intriguing. I went into it only to quickly realize a few key things. 1) This was a very unique story, in spite of being in an arguably over saturated space (shifter romance). 2) Much like the story, the fmc is so unique and quirky, you can't help but quickly come to care for, admire, and root for her. 3) This was going to be in my top 2023 reads and before even finishing the book I bought it as well pre ordered the other two out for pre order.

Headlines
✔ RH
✔ Shifters (Wolf and others types)
✔ Fated mates
✔ FMC with past trauma
✔ Med burn
✔ No mm, no ff (can only confirm for book one at this point)

This book isn't necessarily unique or phenomenal. What this book has are characters that do a great job communicating and having emotional maturity. I am impressed with the characters and how they handle everything.

Pros:
* really well written. very descriptive and follows show not tell.
* spice is written passionately and intensely. not many fade to black scenes. definitely got me feeling some type of way.
* no miscommunication trope.
* the main character is really fleshed out and nuanced in a way that I haven’t seen before. Billie was undoubtedly the star of the show and my favorite character.
* this phrase: “There, that’s a good Demon, keep eatin’ up. Wouldn’t want the Devil to worry about one of his kids starvin’.”
* this phrase: “It’s like your conscious thoughts are your garden. You can choose what to plant and have a wonderful picnic there but you’ll never be able to keep all the pests out.” Shaking her head, she looks up at the ceiling and raises a fist sniggering, “Those damn ANTs! They come out of nowhere, even when you don’t invite them.” Her gaze comes back to mine and she winks. “ANTs, Automatic Negative Thoughts.”Grinning with her, I yell. “Fuckin’ ANTs, get out of my thought picnic!”

Cons:
* im not really certain there is a plot. there are subtle hints to something bigger going on, but they’re fleeting and do not really influence pacing and decisions. what happened in this book? she goes to university, plays soccer, meets some guys who she is interested in, makes friends, everyday mundane shit, finds out she’s a shifter, bonds with her mates, and then a ton of other woman drama—mainly different wolves pining over her mates. there’s really not an antagonist. I don’t know what the climax of the story would be. this is 600 pages of exposition really.
* Billie was such a developed character down to quirks with her food that’s often overlooked in writing. she felt very real, but the heroes and side characters didn’t receive this same treatment. the book is multi POV, but the heroes POVs are largely just about how great they think Billie is and doesn’t really aid in their character development.
* this sentence: “Xander roars out, “Fuck yes!! I love filling the innermost depth of you with my seed!!”

Personal Thoughts:
* I want to read the next book in the series because Billie is a great character. I went to the author’s instagram to see if there had been any updates. there were not any updates, totally fine. thought I’d scroll while I was there. It’s very apparent that Billie is based on the author.

Both the author and the FMC:
- have strawberry blonde hair
- have green eyes
- have ADHD
- chew cinnamon gum to help with focus
- are from Massachusetts
- have an elephant tattoo on their ribs
- wear a trucker hat often
- are big fans of Converse and wears them often
- wear rose colored aviators

I suspect some other information like height, chest size, background, and character nuances to be the same. The good thing is this means that I’d probably really like the author if I met them in person. But my issue with basing the main character off yourself makes the reading feel invasive to me. I’m reading someone else’s sexual fantasy seeing as Billie is very much a self insert. Like I said above, this is just my personal thoughts. I cannot speak for all readers and this may not matter at all. for me, it made it hard to read because I could not distinguish fact from fiction always and would merge and mix the two in my head. it at times felt invasive and private and too intimate. sometimes I felt uncomfortable.

I would recommend that you give the story a try anyways since there were so many good aspects to it. I guess I rambled too much in this section. I think my point is mostly for the author wishing that Billie was more of a fictional character having unique defining qualities and not a persona.

There are some things I really enjoyed while reading this book, like our fmc’s cheeky character and the friends she makes early on in the story. Even though she’s had a hard time, she’s kind and humble and I really like how she handles some of the things she encounters in this story. The men are fun as well: they are decent guys who don’t want to play games with their mate and just love her completely.

The thing that took away a bit of my reading enjoyment though, is that the story flowed a bit too slowly for me. As a result, it feels like not a lot is happening at times, and I was in the mood for something more fast-paced. So, right now, I won’t continue the series, but I might pick it up again in the future when my mood fits better with the story-flow.

Feisty and fun heroine! A true treat

I really enjoyed the book, and am eagerly awaiting the next in the series!!

**SPOILERS**

The book opens with a young 12 year old Billie approaching an old family friend. This friend owns a boxing ring and gym, and Billie comes seeking “help.” She wants to learn how to fight…how to defend and take care of herself.

The Mahoney’s had been friends with Billie’s parents, and the younger Mahoneys played with her before a house fire killed her parents. Billie was put into foster care, and they lost touch with her. To say they’re surprised at her sudden reappearance into their lives, and her request, would be an understatement…however, after noticing a myriad of bruises on Billie’s little body, they know that they have to help her.

Fast forward some years, the Mahoney’s adopted Billie and she had a”Tom-boyish” upbringing with them in south Boston. She loves them and they love her. They’re both sad and happy to be leaving her at college for her first year as a freshman. Billie is wicked smart and athletic, and got into college full ride, half on a soccer scholoship and half on an academic one.

On the first day she catches the eye of Jax, a boy on the men’s soccer team, and with him comes the attention of his pack brothers, Xander, their Alpha, and Ethan - all three boys are wolf shifters, and Xanders next in line to lead the entire wolf pack in the territory. They know, by scent, that Billie is a shifter, NOT a wolf shifter, but definitely a shifter, and they can sense that she has no idea of this fact. They are inexplicably, obsessively drawn to her, and she to them.

They slowly worm their way under Billie’s defenses, and soon all four of them, the three wolf shifters, and Billie are regularly hanging out. There is clear intense chemistry between Billie and the guys, and it freaks her out because she can’t for the life of her understand why she was drawn to them instantaneously, no matter how hot they are. But she really enjoys their company, and they aren’t “pushing” a sexual relationship on her, so she decides it’s fine to just be…friends. Uh-huh, lol. Little does she know that fate has other plans in store for the four of them.

Billie shifts quite suddenly (being around shifters has finally “activated” her dormant shifter Gene, and she can no longer suppress it). She’s shocked when she realizes that she’s a fox, oh, and that the boys are wolves. Initially she’s scared because instinct is telling her that they’re predators and she’s prey. But Xander, Jax and Ethan KNOW she’s theirs, and she smells wonderful to them, nothing like prey! After escaping some crazy wolves (led by a psycho ex girlfriend of Xander’s) she finds comfort in their home, where they “teach” her what it means to be a shifter, and care for her…they also explain (keeping some things like the true mate bond secret) the bonds and how they work. The four begin to date and the rest of the book basically delves into the good, bad, and ugly of bonding with shifters outside of your species…and how TRUE MATE BONDS (soulmates) TRUMP ALL!!

Xander’s evil father has been manipulating mate bonds, tying wolves WHO ARE NOT TRUE MATES TOGETHER, in an attempt to keep the “lines pure,” and the power solely in the wolf shifters, therefore his hands. He’s furious with Xander for messing around “his words” with Billie, who is a “nothing,” not even a wolf. And wants him to bond/mate with Courtney, his psycho ex who keeps trying to tear Xander and Billie apart (going so far as to try to kill her when they’re both in animal form). Xander keeps his father at bay by lying to him and making it seem as if Billie doesn’t mean as much to him as she does (he flat out hides their bonding marks when they finally bond).

Billie finally opens up to the three guys who she’s fallen in love with, and one-by-one accepts the permanent, forever, mate bond bite. She knows, like the guys do, that they’ll be targets because of their unconventional cross-species bonding, and agrees to keep it under wraps.

I adore Billie Mahoney’s character! She’s seriously awesome! Snarky, sarcastic, witty, fun, athletic, adventurous, loving, strong and the ultimate survivor!!! Liz Simmons crafts the perfect FMC, giving Billie all the characteristics she needs to go head to head with her formidable would be mates!!

Xander, Jax, and Ethan are terrific guys, and compliment Billie really well. Each one is very different from the other and they all fill a need in Billie, and hold a place in her heart.

I really liked this first offering from Liz Simmons, and my only complaint would be that I think it took the guys WAAAAY TOOOOO LONG to show the wolf community what Billie meant, and was to them. The fact that they were STILL allowing wolf females to touch them AFTER they were bonded to Billie felt gross, and a bit like “cheating.” And even though they eventually got their heads outta their asses, lol, it was only at the VERY END of book one! Yes, it definitely took too long for them to “claim” Billie in public, and too long for Xander to stand up to his abusive, tyrant of a father! Of course, since this is a series, and only book one, I guess the author is “pacing” herself.

I am very much anticipating book two in this series. And can’t wait to see what’s next for Billie and her pack!!

Love love loved this!!

What else can I say?? This is the best book I've read in AGES!! I've been in a major slump and have been disappointed by every book I've read recently (and I average a book or two a DAY). This was a breath of fresh air!! It was just so so good! It was EVERYTHING I didn't know I needed in a book!! It was fun, spicy, laugh out loud funny, and the links to the songs movies books etc was such a brilliant, creative idea! And the relationship was just so well done, NO miscommunication tropes because they actively ensure that they DO communicate, and it was so good to see them grow close with no angst from within. Not one of them was against it or on the fence. And the way the last event went down, I was so surprised in such a good way! These types of situations usually always have the miscommunication trope or the stay away to protect you trope or downplay your importance trope. And whilst it toyed along the lines of these a tiny bit it never embraced them. It was like a balm to my soul after reading so many books containing these boring overdone tropes over and over again and feeling constantly frustrated and annoyed. I adored Billie and her mates they were all awesome and easily likeable and as an ADHDer it was so refreshing to see ADHD portrayed so authentically and not as a crutch or a gimmick but constantly brought up in a natural and realistic way. What else can I say?? Just go and read this!! You won't regret it!!

Enjoyable read with a strong FMC and her doting & possessive mates. It's refreshing to have a harem without a jerk and reluctant one. Billie discovers she's a fox shifter while coming to terms that she has wolf mates. Together they deal with Xander's father and bitter ex-girlfriends. The OW drama is one-sided. The men have no interest in them and Billie fights back.

There are two POVs with people outside of the harem (Jimmy - who she's grown up with and randomly Xander's father). I don't usually need or want these POVs to be honest.

In general, there really isn't an overarching plot. A lot of time spent is with the harem getting to know each other and Billie accepting them as mates. There are a couple of times when her fox and their wolves play together. It's quite cute.

The book does not end in a cliffhanger but it's a bit abrupt though it's satisfying. If you continue to read the preview to the next book, you will obviously get a cliffhanger that explains their bonding mark.

I'm wondering if Enzo plays more into the story as the series continues. If not why was he written into the story.

There are mentions of Billie's life before she found her adoptive family with Jimmy. She also has ADHD which explains her frenetic thoughts and actions.

*strong FMC
*loving and possessive harem
*found family
*ADHD awareness
*OW drama
*Multiple POVs
*Shifters

**SPOILER ALERT***

So this book is hard for me I would rate it a 3.5 if I could. It was hard to get past the start of the book because for the fmc to 20 she is very immature and through out the story that doesn’t changes. I hate how she expects them to be ok with her maintaining such a romantic relationship with Enzo ( I think that’s his name) and curve the instincts they have.

The book extremely biased to Billie the fmc needs. Also it’s a fated romance but she is constantly saying she will leave the relationship which again throws me off. It’s written to imply she can ignore her mate instincts.

Also the verbiage thought me off a lot because it seems they are in the States but it’s a lot of European style of writing and language but I can be wrong which leads to more confusion during the read.

Lastly she introduced possible MM which again throws me off because the males leads stated they had no romantic interest or feelings for one and other but boom 76 % or so in Billie is suggesting and now they have interest for it out of no where.

Overall a decent book just a lot of stuff coming out of nowhere and constant contradiction.

The humor and jokes in this book totally failed for me. Side characters always seem to laugh themselves silly over the un-funny jokes, and it's the written version of a sitcom laugh track. I didn't find the FMC funny at all, I found her exhausting and emotionally underdeveloped.

I am also not a fan of random POVs being thrown out, monologues used to hand feed plot points to readers, and insta-love crap where the characters say a couple flirty lines and then declare themselves fated for life or whatever.

The MMCs are also kind of bland? I wanted to learn ... anything other than the fact that they were horny college athletes. I DNF'd around 15%, but the story was just dragging on and on and on without any character development or world-building or discernable plot. Who are these people? Why should I care about then? What challenges are they facing that makes me want to know more?

Couldn't find the answer to any of these questions, so dropped it like a hot potato. (Yeah, I went there.)

Awful.

I think the author put more effort into the book’s description than the actual story. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was written by AI.

The men are the least alpha males possible and all of the characters act like 15 year olds (that’s being generous by the way).

The author wrote the FMC’s personality like she has ADHD which is fine but she did it in a way that is pure cringe. She’s 20 years old and a freshman in college yet she does stupid shit like use French fries to look like a walrus, uses terms like mother flocker, and karate kicks a soccer ball all to be funny. You might read this and think it sounds hilarious but when you read it in the story it’s just cringy. Not well done at all. The FMC tries too hard and ruins it.

The guys give her stupid nicknames like mother flocker, karate kid, and various others from movie titles but it just gets annoying.

The whole mean girl thing is cliche and done horribly.

I DNF at 10% because it was boring and cringy.

Decent read

This book has a lot of positive affirmations. After reading this one I had to go away a bit and think about how I felt about all that. One of my pet peeves is when the author bleeds their own convictions into a supposedly made up story. Suffice to say in the grand skim of things the subjects discussed were not life threatening triggers.

If you have the patients to read through football and college drama, let's face it, the start of this book isn't for everyone. Somewhere in there you get invested in seeing how the heroine handles all that's thrown at her. I did find Billy a tad bit childish in some cases. Her "jokes" were not laugh out loud for me but brought some light heartened fun to the book. Trying to reconcile the childish Billy to the one giving out very serious grow up advice is interesting... I suppose.

Great start to the series!

I'm not going to lie it took me some time to stay committed to this story. Because of Billie's humor and a happy personality, it just kept me engaged to see where this story would go, and I am so glad I stuck with it because it was such a great book. Now, the reason I struggled....two things really bugged me the overuse of the word "yea" by Jaxson and the overuse of people's names! Two people will be talking to each other, and they will use their name in a sentence like we didn't know who was talking to each other. For example, Billie and Taylor will be talking to each other, and instead of saying, "That's awesome," it will say, "That's awesome, Taylor" in one of Billie's chapters the name Taylor was said like 16 times in less than 10pgs. But luckily, my love for Billie kept me going, and I was rewarded with a fantastic story!

This is really good

This is one of my favorite... Multi? Why choose, reverse harem-y stories. It's just a good story over all. Love the main character, super funny and cute and love the guys. Usually there's one that you either don't like much or one that sticks out so much more than the others that you kind of wish it wasn't a multi whatever book because you like him so much or their relationship. But this book just had all the good characters and the relationships are all good and sweet and hot. No choosing which is better. It's just really good. I hope it doesn't get too dramatic, the ending was kind of leading that way and I'm not too fond, but I want to see more of them so... Or read more. Whatever. Really good story. Cute and funny and super hot.

I’ll start off by saying I mostly liked Billie and her characterization was the strongest in the book.
Almost everything else fell apart. There was a flood, a tidal wave, an entire ocean of exposition. The rest of the book was large info dumps. There was a midpoint twist that was, besides coming out of left field, just a bullet point in a monologue. This took out the emotion from any conversations. Some of it worked, Billie is a very self-aware character and I liked that about her but that leads me back to my first poin:Billie was the only realized, fleshed out character. The other love interests were interchangeable in their mannerisms and thoughts. One character always said “yea” at the end of their sentences so at least I knew when it was him.

That cover is gorgeous.

A decent read

It's a solid 3.5. Decent writing. Characters you can get attached to. I will read the next book in the series. However, the characters could use more development for the length of this first book. Most of the conflict seems to be self created and then too easily solved. Billie is a bit too perfect in a "not like the other girls" way. The only thing she doesn't do in that category is beating them at video games. But having her nemeses wearing heels, makeup, and dressing up very feminine as her counterpoint is a bit too on point for me. I hope the second book does better. And the sex scenes are drawn out to the point they lose spice and get to be a bit of a chore.

Totally worth it

While describing the developing relationship between some college students (shifters by the way) the book gives life and relationship advice better than a ton of self-help books. The writing is captivating, the actions and emotions relatable. You cringe in secondhand embarrassment and laugh in the next sentence. Other than that, I was wondering whether some parts of the book got lost in editing as it seems our protagonists emerge from diving into the water with hats and sunglasses still in place.
I love that story didn't end on a cliffhanger and I can calmly looking forward to the next installment.

AHHHHHHHH!!!!
Billie is so funny and amazing. Jaxson is such a cinnamon roll. Xander is giving soft dom instead of overbearing over-possessive Alpha. Ethan is such a lover boy even though he’s quiet and closed off with everyone else. I loved how the guys were so in touch with their emotions. Probably one of the healthiest reverse harems I’ve ever read. So ready for book 2 to be released :)

Genuine warnings: dialogue may get to you at times 😭, sometimes the PDA will have you cringing (maybe I just have issues?), Xander’s dad and pack-mates are literally from hell (!!!!!) and will make you want to stop reading altogether.

Plot was plotting!!

The plot I really enjoyed. We had lots of running from our Mc, and lots of sexy time after. I found myself scrolling past the sexual encounters and just wanting to read more of the actual story. I think I was thrown off by how our Billie didn't seem to want to look into the connection to much, then all the sudden did, and then sex. Idk why it threw me off so bad. But then I just could not enjoy it because it didn't feel natural. I definitely want to continue this story, I am shaken in my boots with revaluation of billies past, and her parents. And how evil these wolf's really are.

So so, liked it but annoyed at the same time

I sorta like the fmc lightheartedness and her way of making a bad situation a little brighter all with just a change in perception. At the same time the dialogue is juvenile and rambling. I skimmed the last half of the book just to finish and the ending is so abrupt. I struggled to finish, putting this aside for wks at a time. Her men don't inspire confidence and don't feel the alpha energy I expected. They again are sort of juvenile characters and it shows

This was so good! Billie jumps off the page. Her love of life is contagious, and her humor is awesome. I love that the FMC had a group of solid girl friends, and that she was an athlete and not JUST a college student. Balancing that work load and her coping mechanisms were refreshing to see in a Young/New Adult novel.

The William situation (Xander's dad) was a little strange with the quasi-assault, and that plot line was definitely unresolved, but the book ended on a good spot, so you're not at a cliffhanger.

Excessively wordy

This book could lose a lot of pages. It was so drawn out. The $€x scenes were ridiculously long. And don't get me started on how they had to wait to claim each other, and every time they did it, they had to keep saying don't bite. I looked at the other books that are out and saw that there's going to be MM in them 😕 why does the author need to change the dynamic of the group? It seems like very RH book out now has a bi awaking like, really? Not everyone enjoys that, I like the attention on the FMC.

I found the FMC to be annoying and the MMCs were a bit unremarkable. I’d have to flip back to see which POV I was reading because I could honestly not tell them apart.

The FMC goes through her entire life with no knowledge of being a shifter, finds out that she is and so are the guys, and then willingly goes through her first shift unscathed within a 24 hour period. There was total acceptance by her & that is the part that made me give up on reading. It just didn’t track for me. Well that and I don’t think I can handle any more of her “weird girl” personality any longer.

not to bad

It as an ok read. I’m not sure I will continue. I don’t really care for Ethan anymore. I’m not sure why Billie didn’t react more to him saying she wasn’t broken enough for him anymore. It was just Ignored. But it was an ok read. I might read the next book or not, I’m not sure. Something didn’t really click tho I do live Billie. She’s so feisty and funny and the most mischievous character I think I’ve ever read

I wanted to love it. I really did… Xander didn’t listen to our FMC AT ALL. He kept getting annoyed and angry that she wasn’t acting like a shifter… even though she just learned she was one? I loved Jax at first but then all of a sudden he would every sentence with “yea?” And for some reason that REALLY annoyed me. Ethan, my love, was wonderful until that fateful soccer game. He wanted to trauma bond with her? tf? No.

Excellent read

Very well fleshed out characters never lost track of the male leads you knew from their perspective you were reading without being prompted delightful female strong yet vulnerable and didn't have to worry about being traumatic to read sense of humor made the characters feel good like the new coping mechanism I learned from Billie just by living her best life going to recommend the gum to my niece

It's a whole thang

I like the way this story slowly entangled you in everyone's backstory. It's not just slammed at you like a bad history teacher's timeline. All the characters have their own personality, not just token friend here, token extra there. Yet she somehow keeps it from becoming convoluted and you don't lose track of the main characters.
I'm totally downloading the next one. Gotta see some characters get their just dues.
